Always enjoyed popping into this pub, friendly staff and good service. Sadly the future for this place was written on the walls. Struggled to get clientele in this climate, hopefully the staff have been able to find employment elsewhere. Not nice to be made redundant just before Christmas.

Live music was great! The Fab Jam Band were great! - absolutely amazing evening. Enjoyed dancing with friends and the bar staff were welcoming as always. It’s lovely to see happy staff in a town that seems so much in need of a refresh. The managers Jay & James are a pleasure to talk to, and their staff are a testament to the hard work turning the place around from what it used to be. I will always recommend this pub as one of the best places at the top of Basingstoke

Visited the Bakers again tonight (28th) and had another great evening, Jay has now got some new lighting out the back and some new seating at the front. The team are always welcoming and the extensive selection of beers and spirits made for a great evening... Already planning another visit.

Came to watch the live music. Was a guy playing called Mike Roth. Spoke to the manager and he told me the bakers is going to be a live music venue every weekend. Place never seems to work but looks like this guy could have it in the bag. Really enthusiastic and hopefully will be great again. Good luck

Lovely friendly staff, great bar and a nice atmosphere. My only criticism is that the food menu doesn’t have many options to choose from, but it’s more pub than restaurant so that’s not a surprise at all. It’s my go to place when in the top of town

I have been to this pub on a number of occasions and whilst they have some excellent beers including some rare American IPAs and some good snacks to go with it don’t be surprised if you need to wait 10 minutes plus to get served....

I go often there to drink a beer & stay with the friends, for watch live football matches & follow a meet up group. U have a good selection of beers.

We visited here the other day and what can I say it was a lovely place. Food was a good standard and the staff were very friendly.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience. We went for a family late meal but it wasn’t good at all. The food didn’t taste good and took very long time to be make. The waitress was friendly.

Placing an order for food seemed very challenging for the staff. The place was not busy, and the food took 45 minutes to arrive. When the food did arrive it was of lower than average quality. We wished we'd gone into the Wetherspoons next door.

Had lunch here today. Visited about a year ago and I could not fault it. Today the food was very good but took ages to arrive. What really lets this venue down is the clientele. People at the bar were obviously drunk. Lots of swearing and shouting. This was a ladies lunch and we were really put off by this sort of clientele. As far as I could tell we were the only people in the pub apart from the "regulars" who had obviously been there drinking for some time. I will not be going there again and I doubt if they will be getting enough custom to be able to stay open for much longer. No hot drinks available and I believe this has been the case for a number of weeks.

This is a fairly unexceptional pub, but the food was fine. We dropped in for a bite to eat mid afternoon, one snack and one main meal, which was reasonably priced. Drinks were quite cheap too, so we were happy. The ladies lavatory was pretty poor, no soap, bins and two seats missing, so effectively there was just one lavatory in operation! Popular with football enthusiasts, we could imagine this venue being busy during peak match transmissions.

Busy pub, nice atmosphere, clean with friendly staff and the food you get for the price is good value. Very happy. Will eat here again

We visited this venue on Sunday afternoon for Sunday lunch. We ordered 3 Chicken and Beef sunday roasts, 1 cheese and Bacon Burger and a portion of chips. No one else at that point was eating or ordering food.

Come in most days, as I'm always made to feel welcome and at home, happy staff with a good sense of humour, normally greeted by Dan in the morning and can't fault his professionalism. Always a welcoming face!

We recently held our buisness meeting upstairs and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Private area with no disruptions. We also had tea, coffee and refreshments which were maintained throughout the day. Overall enjoyable day. Many thanks again!

I held my retirement party at the Bakers in an upstairs area that can be cordoned off from the rest of the pub. I met Acacia the new manager ahead of selecting this venue. She could not have been more welcoming and helpful. She agreed to adapt the buffet food menu to what I wanted and she totally delivered on her promise. The area was laid out as we wanted and well staffed for the entire evening. The atmosphere was great with music set at the level that we wanted. The team on the night were brilliant and looked after us so well.

I went in to the local area to meet a few old friends and decided to drink in the bakers, where we was greeted by the barman, I believe his name was Adam, he had a fabulous knowledge on drinks and what to do in the local area, will definitely be coming back soon!

I will not visit this dingy pub again. The ladies toilets had their seats missing and infested with flies. Dread to think what the kitchen is like. This pub needs a serious refurb and new cleaning company! Absolutely disgusting that they think this is an acceptable condition.

I took my wife and daughter out to a steam fair we decided to have a meal we ordered a drink and the meal very pleasant staff we recieved our drinks and 45 minuets later i asked the barman where are meal was, five minuets later the meal appeared with apologies for the delay but they where short of kitchen staff. I tried to cut my meat pie unable to do i had break the crust with my knife handle to get at the meat it had been in the micro wave far to long.after the meal my wife complained to the staff about my pie he apologised .

Disgusting toilets, service, has never changed here, same old, just avoid. Just another poorly run venue with kids.

I have frequented many pubs in Basingstokes top of town since the early 2000s. Back then known as the hogshead it was always the start of a night out. Since all the old places are now italian hain restaurants or over priced cocktails bars when ever there is a friend meet up or work event the bakers will be my first choice. The bar staff are friendly and there are lots of good drink deals so why break tradition and go anywhere else?

I came here with my boyfriend on Sunday for just a drink and ended up staying for a long time and I ended up having food and it was a Absolutely lovley pub! All staff are friendly and polite .

We went to this pub with a group of friends and ordered red wine. The bar maid stated that they didn't have any red wine and when we pointed out bottles of it on the back shelf, she insisted that it was white wine. We could see clearly that it was red. After we had finished our drinks, whilst deciding whether to stay for a second drink, one of the bar staff started ranting, slamming doors, smashing bottles and swearing really loudly. We decided to leave for our own safety and had to send the bouncers in to control the BAR STAFF!!! We drink in town as a group regularly but won't be going back to this place. Awful!!

Took 2h to get out meals, service is poor, a lot is excuses, management changing it isn’t a excuse to spend more than 2h waiting. people and basic burgers during World Cup. Really bad service

I ordered a cheese sandwich. When it arrived it had more chutney than cheese in it. A scrapped the chutney out and added extra cheese that was given to me when I commented on the sandwich to a member of staff. My picture shows the chutney I took out of my sandwich. I was very disappointed.

Great pub for watching football. Plenty of seats and the price of the drinks is fair. We did not sample the food but it looked good.

Went for a meal. There was three of us. Two of us ordered steak pies from the menu and one ordered the chicken tikha. Thw two steak pies arrived and were certsinly nothing like what was pictured on the menu. It looked as if kim kardashian had sat on them. The tikha followed some 10 minutes later which consisted of two worn out tired looking leaves of lettuce with a couple of small chicken skewers. There was no salad with red onion no masala sauce and no rice or nan bread. This was what supposed to be on the plate according to their menu. After complaining and waiting a further 15 mins the staff member produced another plate minus the rice and masala sauce. We asked to speak to the duty manager who looked a bit bewildered but eventually agreed a refund. We were asked to take our card to the bar to put the refund into it but on checking the receipt found that this had not been done. Again approached the three members of staff behind the bar who i will name as hear no evil speak no evil and see no evil. Wont be back utter shambles of a place. Oh and by the way the family next to us walked out in disgust too aafter waiting for food that never arrived. They asked for their money back too

Over cooked food and slow service Was over charged for my drink when it was included in my meal. When it arrived it was not great but I was so hungry I ate it. I felt horrible the next day.

Went in a couple of months ago and found that the pub was clean and tidy. Ordered a burger and had a lovely pint of IPA. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

On a Friday night when England were playing the bar was busy but not so much that you couldn't move. Stopped in with my bf for a pint and something to eat. Bar staff were perfectly friendly, not overly chatty as it was busy. Food arrived quickly and was exactly as it should be. Staff weren't intrusive, cannot stand the 'how is your meal' question which invariably is asked just as you have taken a mouthful of food, so that's a win.
