Grubby, shabby in every way. Frozen vegetables, poor or little service. Plates at the carvery were dirty. Chaos service, all running around clueless

I have been going to the Badminton Arms for many years for Sunday Roast and also to collect at times and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. Today I collected and I have to say I am very disappointed. We were given 2 tiny pieces of Meat, the Cauli, Carrots and Mixed Veg were hard, the Aunt Bessie potatoes (which I thought were being changed to home made proper roast potatoes) were hard too. Very very disappointed and I thought I would never have to say this about the Badminton Arms. Won't be visiting again until standards have changed.

Tanya the manager is a extremely rude and arrogant manager we had a problem and basically ignored us such a a shame as the food is lovely she totally let the experience we had with her with a very bad manager

Haven’t eaten here for over a decade for no particular reason. We enjoyed a warm welcome from the new manager. We were two adults two children today. I am lactose intolerant. The children’s menu had everything they could have wanted. All the usuals. We went for the children’s pizza and it was huge and I honestly have never seen my child eat so much of a pizza. The rest of us had carvery. We went for small carvery and it was wonderful. The chef made me butter free vegetables and you could serve your own gravy which made it for me as so many places serve you a tiny portion of gravy. All in all a lovely experience with lovely staff from the manager to the waitress. Highly recommend and now I have found out they do breakfasts so we will be back for them too. Thanks all.

This place has massively gone downhill! It’s such a shame not even Sundays look busy anymore and the new manager doesn’t seem very friendly at all. It’s no wonder people aren’t coming in anymore. I’ve seen another review about the cleanliness of this pub and I have to agree they have let the place slip. The venue is so dark makes the place look so depressing and dreary. Old manager used to clean more. It’s now a drinking pub with dodgy people all the time no longer family friendly. I would also say food is not great used to be a good carvery but no massive changes have been made veg is still frozen and potatoes are rock solid. Will not be returning!

EXCELLENT SERVICE RECEIVED, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED on our recent visit we were amazed by the friendly staff who made our stay a real pleasure We were delighted and greeted with the best carvery we have ever tasted. With succulent meat cooked to perfection, served with the freshest vegetables I have ever known in a restaurant , it was all well cooked and delicious to taste . Ample and generous quantity , although we had mediam version it could have been enough for a bigger appetite than mine. Lovely cool drinks most welcome on a summer's day and plenty of deserts for afters . Have recommended it to all my family and friends We've found the best so we forget the rest !!

Came in here for lunch, didn’t walk around photographing toilets and floor mats in the pub entrances like the previous reviewer 😂 who incidentally photographed seats in the bar lounge, not even in the restaurant, id suggest find a hobby! place was absolutely clean and presentable, as it always is, food was great and good value. Usually full on a Sunday so best to book, excellent carvery and very good quality. Will keep coming back! Keep up the good work

Booked for dinner on route home from a long journey, originally booked for 6pm but due to traffic we were half hour late (phoned ahead to pre warn) we were so thankful they left the carvery open for us. Food was delicious, dessert too. Will definitely visit again.

Please be aware the feedback I got was they have no control over Internet as it was with the previous owners. £10.50 small carvery definitely over priced and not consistent what I found via their website. Out of courtesy I gave them one.

Visited this establishment during the daytime (early pm) to stop off for a couple of drinks. We were abruptly told that no tables were available to sit at as they had all been reserved for dining. I queried was the place a pub? No response. Needless to say we exited in disgust & walked the short distance to The Rising Sun where we received a warm welcome, had a couple of drinks & found a table to sit down at with ease. If you want a drink, do yourself a favour and avoid the soulless Badminton Arms!!!!!

This USED to be my favourite restaurant but wouldn't recommend anymore. We were the only people eating on a Saturday night. Pretty mediocre carvery. Meat was dry, lamb in particular was not great at all as was very fatty. Veg selection is pretty uninspiring. Honestly, could find better places out there.

Went for the large carvery. Turkey, beef and gammon all over cooked. Limited choice of vegetables, only one choice of potatoes, roast but I believe cooked from frozen. Same size plate for small, medium and large dishes . Drinks never arrived. All in all very disappointing and not up to the previous standard. Won’t be going back again unfortunately.

Popped in here on the way back from the hospital about 7.30pm.It was quite quiet. We were seated straight away and quickly ordered our drinks while we looked at the menu. All the staff were polite and friendly. Mum ordered the prawn sandwich with chips, I tried a prawn and it was like eating rubber with no taste at all, the sauce was a bit ridiculous as in there wasn't any. I had the Hunters chicken which was nice. we sat and waited for our plates to be cleared to order pudding, in the end I had to call one of the staff over as they were too busy chasing each other about, they hadn't noticed we had finished our meal. the pudding was nice. We paid f our bill, a shocking £36.00. Mum mentioned about the prawns being nasty and the young girl didn't really know what to say, so we just left and have noted not to return.

Went for the roast lamb carvery it was delicious and the meat was so tender and not cut wafer thin like alot of carvery s. The veg was cook beautifully and a good choice as well. Would definitely recommend this place .

Badminton Arms was probably the best Carvery in my area. This was mainly due to the quality/taste/texture of their home made roast potatoes. However they have now changed these for the bland and tasteless variety provied my most carverys in this competative market. They look good on photo's and in the serving dish..that is an illusion as they are in fact nothing like a true roast potatoe.On a more positive I have always found that their Roast Beef is of excellent quality and is cooked to perfection.

This always delivers on quality! Plenty of fresh meat and excellent variety of vegetables. Our first choice if eating out for carvery on a Sunday, although it is available all week.

We arrived feeling famished! We chose the very reasonably priced Carvery. The meat and vegetables were beautifully cooked, we were very impressed with the flavours and tenderness of the Beef, Gammon and Turkey. The vegetable selection was large and well presented. The Deserts were equally enjoyable. Great value and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Arrived just before carvery opened, on a Thursday, so food all freshly laid out. Meat portions good but all the vegetables were mushy, over cooked and soggy. Cheese sauce with cauliflower tasty but cauliflower cooked for a week. Roasties looked good but had obviously been reheated more than once, like cardboard. We may have been unlucky but when asked, we explained problem and was told ‘old people like veg soft!’ It was like baby food! Staff friendly but won’t venture here again.

We arrived for dinner only to be told that there was nothing from the menus that could be ordered and that the only choice was the carvery. I would have preferred not to have been limited to one of three meats but, with almost no choice, ended up with the beef. The meat was tough, possibly not freshly cooked, and the vegetables were beyond over-cooked to the point of becoming mushy ... as well as being luke-warm. The restaurant was very quiet and I can only imagine that, as a result, vegetables were not being regularly replaced with freshly cooked product, in other words, had the restaurant been busier, I expect the food would have tasted much better.

Super place for a small family celebratory lunch. Delicious carvery & an excellent all round menu to choose from. Children’s menu was exceptionally good value & all the family would highly recommend a visit. Staff gave a warm welcome & were very helpful with a 4,6 & 90 year old! We will be visiting again.

Great food but service was not as expected had my starter and then main came out straight after and I wanted desert after but never cleared my plate the waitress/ bartender was on the phone looking though social media and chatting to cleaner for most of the time

This is the best place to go to for a Sunday carvery, the meat always cooked to perfection, piping hot veggies and plenty of them. As a family we eat here a couple of times a month, always booking to avoid disappointment!

We come here regularly for food and always enjoy. Today however, we have come for a later Sunday roast and found our own seats in the bar there were none available in the restaurant ‘not in here’ we were advised. I went to the bar to order and stood waiting while 2 members of staff stood chatting - the female of which, looked at me twice and so therefore had acknowledged I was waiting. She finally came over and I asked if I could order. I requested 2 large diet cokes - 1 with no ice and 2 small plate carveries. I was asked a second time what my drinks were and she then took my payment. As I completed the transaction I was told to advise I wanted 2 standard carveries. It was then I realised I had overpaid for what I had asked for. Based on the poor service I had received running up to this, the prospect of trying to amend this seemed exhausting. Very disappointing experience today.

Went there for lunch 16th January. My partner had the carvery and I chose the liver & crispy bacon with garlic mash, peas and rich onion gravy. Both meals were first class and could not be faulted. The place was busy.

Went for a carvery during the week and was very happy with the quality of food and service. Only negative point was that there were no green peas available which we was not expected as it wasn’t a busy time of the week. Not sure whether they just don’t offer them as part of the carvery. Other than that it was a very nice meal.

visited the badminton arms for sunday lunch food good however chef which was slicing the cooked meat very rude and argumentative shouted at me( being a 50 year old woman ) he spoke to me like a young child when asked not to talk to me like that he continued to be extreamley aggressive. the manager was very supportive and asked the chef to leave but this did not happen and continued to be threating my partner has to step in and ask the chef to have some respect.i would recommend you eat else where and avoid the badminton arms.

Met some old work friends for a drink and a Carvery meal. We were not disappointed. Excellent choice of meats and as much veg as you could eat. Well kept 6X , Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Lovely calvery at a good price then paid 5.95 for a piece of cheesecake which was no bigger than a slither and only a couple of pounds cheaper than the main meal, as I was dining with a friend I did,not say anything but I wish I would have sent it back as begrudge paying that sort of money for a tiny dessert, also asked for a pot of tea for 2 and was charges £5 for it. I would go back for main meal but definitely watch the extras

We were a big party of approx 39 for an annual ladies group gathering. the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The food was nicely presented by the staff in a very professional way nothing was too much trouble for them.

First time visit with a group of friends. Lovely welcome and service. Opting for carvery was amazed at generous portion of meat, plus 'extras'. Great mix of veg, all fresh and hot. Been to many carveries, this best by far. Waiter informed when one non carvery order was coming, so we could all eat at same time, impressed.

Food is very good, Let down by being allocated only 1 1/2 hours to enjoy it ! Far too rushed, Tables too close together; We had to move our tables or when we were seated people couldn't get through!Still eating Puddings and Waitresses waiting to clear tables for the next Customers....What a shame

The pub was very busy when we arrived, some of us could not park in the car park. A bit of a wait for our table (because they were so busy) and we were told we could only have it for an hour and a half! Carvery food was nice, although plates could have been hotter. You can choose small, medium or large meal, but you get the same size plate for all of them! Lovely roast potatoes and excellent choice of veg. Reasonable service at the table. Pub was very noisy and hot. Personally I would not choose to go here again on a Sunday, but this was a family birthday so not my choice.

We visited for lunch, having booked in advance as we had been told it got very busy. On arrival our table wasn't ready so we had drinks from the bar while we waited. I was pleased to note that there are some well kept ales and ciders on sale. There is, however, an air of disorganisation about the place, and the chap in charge of it all (that others have mentioned) does seem to run around without much idea of what he is doing. Seating of various groups was haphazard at best.

Well went there for a Carvery and All I Can Say is Don't bother. Food was dried up and didn't have the veg I wanted did tried to plan me off with other Rock Hard Vegetables. Would NOT GO THERE AGAIN.

Took a flyer 12.00pm without a reservation, we asked the guy if they had a table for 3 available and he got very defensive, I have no idea why!. Said we could have a table but we would have to vacate it by 1.30pm, that wasn't a problem for us we said and his attitude changed immediately.....weird!

The Badminton Arms is a Wadworth's pub, so good beer and service are guaranteed. Luckily we were greeted by Colin who showed us to our seats and explained the layout to us as we were new customers. I was impressed with Colin, a cheery young man who spoke up clearly and one who was happy to be helpful. Both the bar and restaurant were already busy and they were expecting another party of twenty people to arrive in the next twenty minutes so the carvery might be in demand. Our drinks arrived in double quick time, food was ordered and all was well. I noted that Colin and a waitress were serving all of the tables in the restaurant and the barman was coping on his own at the pumps. All three were working flat out yet their willingness to work quickly and together created a warm atmosphere of efficient co-operation which seemed to have extended to the customers. The chef on the carvery seemed to relish the busy evening too, he kept the up a steady pace as generous cuts of choice meats were sliced, diced and delivered with a smile.

On of the best roasts around, the only down is the chairs are a bit dirty , but food was 5 stars. We will be back.

Well it's Not very often I would give Negative fed back. This place does Not warrant a good feed back .The food was Rubbish. Half of it wasn't cooked properly. Potatoes were Rock hard the cauliflower was Not cooked they had hardly any choices so All in All a waste of Money & time going there. Nil stars.

I don’t normally venture out for meals on Mother’s Day but this year my own daughters were either working or away so my sister invited me out with her family. We often go to this establishment for our own family celebrations and it holds dear memories of my late husband and father who both loved the food here. Today as expected it was exceptionally busy, on Sundays you are usually allocated a one and a half hour slot at your table however due to the amount of people things were running late when we arrived at 4.30 and we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The queue for the carvery stretched almost to the entrance when we joined it but we were happy to go with the flow. The food is always very good, I’ve never had a bad meal here. The meat is cooked to perfection and there is a wide choice of what I call ‘real’ veg, by that I mean mashed carrot and swede, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese and greens. Every meal comes with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and sausage. As a recent convert to vegetarianism, on this occasion I ordered the nut roast -it was absolutely delicious. It is essential to book for any Sunday as it is a very popular venue. The atmosphere in the pub is warm and cosy and I would highly recommend it but probably better on an ordinary weekend.

We visited after a long country walk to refuel. This was our first visit and we were impressed by the price of the carvery - £5.99 for a small plate! You have a choice of meats (or can have a bit of everything) and a good choice of veg, extras, sauces etc. You can go and have a much of the veg etc as you like. Cosy atmosphere with a fire going and a good crowd of locals. Will definately be visiting again

This pub specialises in carvery but has other meals including bugers and small meals. Called in onb 28th Feb 2018 early, it was quiet but busier by the time we left. Best carvery we have had lately. Gammon, Turkey and Beef were available with trimmings. Roast potatoes not crispy which suits us.

The food is amazing, but our experience is nearly always let down by the man who runs front of house. He is extraordinarily rude; such a shame. We've eaten here a fair few times now and the first couple of times I just thought maybe he's just had a bad day, but now we've been there enough times to find that he seems to be unpleasant all the time. Really disappointed as we really really love the food but always leave feeling a bit sad about the way we've been spoken to.

Came here for my Boxing Day meal with my family, admittedly the food was brilliant and couldn’t fault it at all! However, the issue was with the staff. Now I know everyone probably drank a bit too much the night before but you’re there to do a job & are getting paid for it - a smile costs nothing!! Upon entry we stood and waited for 5 minutes whilst a waitress faffed around with the till and didn’t even acknowledge us another member of staff did eventually, no one really seemed to care about customer service or ‘service with a smile’ which when you’re out celebrating festivities doesn’t bring light to the mood ( as well as the non existent Christmas decorations; if you weren’t told the date it could’ve been August!!!) overall, half decent experience but I would’ve been ashamed of my staff if I was managing the pub today.
