We have attempted to book here twice with family. On the first occasion, we turned up and the gas wasn't working in the kitchen. No one had called us and let us know so when we got there we had to find somewhere else to dine with the kids hungry. On this occasion, I had booked a table for fathers day on the Thursday at 6am. Someone from the restaurant then called me on Friday at 5.30pm to tell me that our booking had gone through online, but there was no table allocated. The woman on the phone offered no alternative time for the booking and simply said with a rude tone that there wasn't anything they could do. When I asked why they'd left it nearly 2 days she said you only booked yesterday anyway. This has left us with no where to eat to celebrate fathers day. Due to this terrible service, we will not be choosing to dine here again.

This is the best place to come when you have young children as Phyl is fantastic, always a warm welcome and really cheery. Christa makes the best breakfast.

This was supposed to be trial run for meeting a group of friends and after today's awful meal am trying to find an alternative venue! I had the salad with added steak and the steak was pure gristle; couldn't cut it with a steak knife let alone chew or eat it! The avocado in the salad was overripe and well past it's eat by date. In fairness when I complained they brought me another meal and I opted for chicken which was at least edible if totally bland. However we were still charged for the steak which was not edible. My partner had the steak and ale pie which he said was not brilliant either and he left half of his meal too! Staff were pleasant enough though.

Great food and great service. Chloe who served us was a superstar - a credit to the organisation. Cheers Chloe! All three of us really enjoyed it.

Front of house staff, hannan Ebony and Ellie were pleasant and helpful. We ordered promptly and one of the party just wanted a plain chicken burger.....no sauces, no coleslaw just chicken lettuce and onion in the bun. When the order came her meal was straight from menu.........Ellie apologised and showed us she had written exactly what was ordered, a new burger came.....this time smothered in ketchup. Again Ellie was so upset and said kitchen were blaming the foh staff. When the 3rd burger came it was thankfully correct. Apart from fact our friend ate alone,the food is good. Hannah came and said she was prepared to offer free desert or coffee, we didn't have desert but had one coffee. We visit here quite often and feel the problem was definitely in the kitchen.

I’ve stayed at the nearby Premier Inn several times and had breakfast at The Ashley on each occasion. It really brightens my day to have a chat to Phil and Christa, who are welcoming and friendly. Food is served, hot, quickly and made to your personal preferences. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Food excellent. Staff good. BUT !!!! If they no longer sell Black Sheep real ale, arguably the best real ale in the country, they should remove both Black Sheep pumps on the bar. I am sure that I am not the only real ale devotee who suffered very acute disappointment.

Absolutely fabulous food and service. Chloe is a total professional. Very attentive and obviously enjoys her job working with people. The Chicken Tikka Curry was really nice and would not be out of place in a very good Indian restaurant.

Lovely brekkie, friendly staff! Full English at 6:30 with complete customisation. A nice view of canal which was very relaxing.

I recently visited for breakfast. I was dining by myself, which is very much out of my comfort zone. I was greeted by the most welcoming staff Phyl and David. They were very attentive and definitely went above and beyond. The breakfast was beautiful, fresh and hot. The selection on offer was more than expected. I will definitely visit again. Thank you

Whilst the food tasted ok, my son's burger was raw inside, my plate had half the chips that were on another plate, the portions were too small for the price being charged and even though it was quiet it took over half an hour for our food to arrive. I did complain and was told the chef was a trainee. If that's the case he should be monitored more closely. I did get a partial refund, which was good of them to do, but I won't be going back.

All the staff were polite, friendly and very attentive. There was a nice atmosphere and the food was lovely. Looking forward to our next visit.

Friendly staff, and it was very busy at lunchtime so obviously popular with local folks. Good location, right in the Marina, and lovely to see the boats going by. Menu is obviously a chain production type arrangement but with plenty of choice of standard pub grub type food - burgers, lasagne etc. however, the quality of the food is not brilliant - no salad served with starters, and the fish and chips dish was not very nice at all, soggy, greasy and grey fish and undercooked chips. We were in the area awaiting a car service hence why we chose it to eat whilst we were waiting, but probably wouldn’t go again.

Good location for business trips and Philomena’s service at breakfast was second to none. She is a great asset to the premier inn.

Arrived early and went fir breakfast without booking. Phyl accommidated us without issue. She was lovely, bubbly and gave great customer service.

As always from several years staying at Aspley Lock another good visit with great people particularly Phyl with her wake up breakfast humour, David and John looking after everything. No brainier for a place to stay opposite the University

Called here last weekend and ordered two soft drinks We were given two glasses nearly full of ice cubes and about a 100ml of cola for the bargain price of £5. No ice was requested and I can only assume it’s company policy to rip people off with ice instead of cheap cola . We didn’t bother ordering food and will not be returning here again

So my first visit back after which ever lockdown we’ve just had in May 2021. Still outside only but staff been excellent and food has been delicious. Look forward to sitting indoors again as British weather not the kindest but great looking at the boats!

We visited our favourite and well missed Aspley yesterday and god it was so good to be back. The tables were well spaced out, very covid safe, plenty of sanitiser, staff had masks on and it was just fabulous. Matthew served us most of the day and he was amazing and delightful as always and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were great! We had a really perfect day and stayed from 3pm until after 8pm. Food and drink were lovely and we felt safe as it was our first time out with friends. A massive thank you to all the staff for a really fantastic Covid safe day. We will be back.

On our canal boat trip this restaurant was hard by the canal so we didn't have to scour the town for a place to eat. It was nicely positioned by the canal and the food was acceptable , , although a little underwhelming. However, we did enjoy the experience and would certainly recommend this place to fellow canal travellers.

We have visited here a few times recently. Today we went for lunch before they have to close for lock down. The staff are always lovely. Kim & Chloe looked after us brilliantly today, but all the staff are equally pleasant & attentive whenever we go. The lunch menu food is really enjoyable & an absolute bargain at 2 meals for £8.99. The gammon & eggs were cooked just right.. We have always felt completely safe visiting during this Covid mess. With all the safe precautions they have put it place it seems a real shame places like this are suffering because of lockdown. As Soon as they are open again we will definitely be back. ThankYou.

We visited the restaurant on the evening before the lockdown came in. In spite of all the challenges involved of going into a lockdown, every member of staff was amazing - genuinely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.It is almost unfair to single out a single person, for fear of missing out others who deserved praise, but Kim and Shanya were especially worth a mention.All courses were well prepared and served efficiently, whilst allowing for courses to digest.Having visited The Aspley over a number of years it has always been good, but is now better than it ever has been. Second time eating at the Aspley Table Table whilst staying at the next door Premier Inn. Location is perfect - next to the canal but very near to the city centre. Food very good value - we took advantage of the meal deal via the premier, £24 for 2 course dinner with drink, and full breakfast.Staff very attentive and friendly - special mention to Megan & Connor

Great food with great service, from out of town but would recommend this place. A relaxing atmosphere, with some nice scenery.

Visitied The Aspley on a whistle stop visit to see out son, the staff were very accomodating and seated us in a side room with a very large table to ensure we complied with social distancing. We were served by Matt and Connor during our visit, both of which were very attentive and made some excellent recommendations for food and drink throughout. Food quality was top notch, portions were good. Warning - the red chillies on the trash can nachos are hot hot hot!!! Praise where it is due, this is definatley a place to visit when in Town. 5 STAR! Can't wait to visit in the summer, when we can get together again at the side of the canal...

Myself and my partner are regulars at Table Table and have always enjoyed the location, drinks and food. It was a pleasant surprise last night that a member of staff we use to see pre-COVID was working and she even remembered who we were and ask how we had been. Great customer service from Megan who was great throughout. It’s staff like this at Table Table that make us continue to return. Special mention should go to Connor and his ever changing hair colour.

Great little place for a cheap bite to eat for you and little ones. Perfect in half term for us getting sometime with the kids and really cheap in the daytime, service from Oliver was great too:)

Visited here with the little lady as she’s on half term break, was pleasantly surprised by the price of the menus compared to most other restaurants in the town centre, service from Oliver was brilliant and being a waiter myself was very refreshing to see. My Mac and cheese smothered chicken was a different but tasty meal, and my daughter was very happy with the popcorn chicken. Great value for money!

We decided to venture out for our first meal since lockdown and Connor and his bubbly personality and sense of humour made it extra enjoyable the food was top notch especially the puddings! Only thing missing was a Smirnoff ice! Budweiser had to do lol. Thanks Connor from table number 2!

Came in with my wife (24/10/20) was greeted at a nice Social distance on arrival with all the correct nhs procedures including track and trace, which was comforting to know, the staff here were ever so helpful, especially our server Oliver who looked after us from hello to goodbye and what a lovely chap he is, signed us up with the loyalty cards and promised him we’ll be back, food was lovely my beef and doom bar pie was delicious and husband was impressed with the size of the haddock, can’t wait to return, thanks a bunch aspley

I came to visit today and I was served by Stephen and I had a bit of a issue regarding last time I came and I spoke to him and the general manager about my problem and all I can say is he is a asset to the company and the food was really good as well and all I can say is we'll done to him

Called in for a spot of lunch today by off chance, after visiting a funeral home near bye as we lay my grandpa to rest tomorrow and fancied a little pick us up treat to cheer us up. What a little hidden gem of a place this pub restaurant is. On arrival was greeted by Matt, great friendly warm welcoming talked us through the Covid restrictions and check in. Then seated us took a drinks order etc.Then we was looked after by Oliver throughout our visit. He couldn’t do enough for us made us feel so welcome. He even saved us some money off our bill which was a added bonus. His service was exceptional. We had starters, mains and desserts followed with lots of coffee during our visit. The food was amazing large portions and so tasty. Oliver recommend me the cauliflower starter and the eaten mess dessert both dishes was delicious good recommendation on his part. This place is fully socially aware and COVID-19 compliant definitely recommend and definitely will be back again soon.The good bye was just as nice and friendly as the welcome was. Two amazing well trained members of staff so thank you Matt and Oliver for making our first of many visits a lovely warm friendly experience.

VISIT(12/10/20) being from Doncaster this was the first visit to the Aspley Huddersfield , having tried many places over the years and felt pretty ripped off for value and standard of the food we were extremely happy we chose the Aspley, we didn't book so was very lucky to be seated in the best seat in the house( overlooking the boats). My husband and i both took advantage of the brilliant 2 for 8.99 menu. i ate the south west burger and my husband ate the paprika chicken, and i must say the value for what we had was amazing. will make sure of a return when i visit Huddersfield again, thankyou again the the lovely oliver who looked after us throughout our whole meal, see you soon table table

We had 3 lovely Sunday lunches and puds. Server Connor was very lovely. Portion sizes were decent and we couldn't eat it all. Very clean and safe and we love watching the canal boats too :-)

We stayed in the Premier Inn (also very good) for one night and we had a meal in The Ashley. Nice meal, waitress, Megan great, same with breakfast in the morning, excellent service, friendly staff - we would stay again and use the restaurant.

Visited for lunch with my husband who has been shielding from March to end of July as he is disabled. He is very wary of being out and about let alone eating out, however, the pub/restaurant is very well organised with hand gel readily available. Tables have been removed so you can observe social distancing with no problems. The staff who served us were Shanaiya and Matthew who were lovely and very aware of social distancing regulations and as the pub was not busy when they were not needed to provide table service they were constantly cleaning tables whether they had been used or not. They were friendly and put you at ease and nothing was too much trouble, We had a bit of a laugh with them and to be honest they could not have been nicer, we will certainly return (hope they are on duty again)
