Lovely pub food to enjoy on a summer evening. Great view and good service, relaxed atmosphere and the food was excellent.

My cousin picked me up at Heathrow and had some work to do so he dropped me off at "The Apprentice" for a few hours. I could have stayed there all day. Excellent service, tasty food and lots going on outside on the waterways. There is outside and inside seating with a great bar area inside. A very popular spot with the locals and I hope to stop in again in a week.

So very disappointing - tough, dry, overcooked roast chicken, tough chicken salad, very slow service (over one hour), and dishes served separately so 2 people were served over ten minutes before the other two. Neighbours told us of their poor quality meal on the Saturday.

Always get myself a pork pie from here when I'm visiting London. The medium pie for £8.50 is good value for money. For the Americans - Pork pies are supposed to be cold, jelly is not the same as fat. Educate yourself before leaving one star reviews for a great little business. Also, scotch eggs are good, especially enjoyed the black pudding one

Our 5-a-side football team plays on Monday nights, and while we usually head to the Fountain and Ink afterwards, we sometimes stop by The Rose and Crown instead. We’re a friendly, respectful group—seven of us this time—never causing trouble, just looking to enjoy a couple of pints and unwind after a match. On this visit, things started off fine. One of my teammates went up to the bar, was greeted by the bartender, and ordered a Singha. Polite exchange, no issues. Then I stepped up and responded in exactly the same way: “Ah, I’ll have a Singha please.” Without missing a beat, she looked me dead in the eyes and said “hello” in a cold, deliberately sharp tone—almost like a challenge. It was the kind of pointed, passive-aggressive hostility you’d expect if you’d just insulted someone—completely unprovoked and totally unnecessary. The mood shifted immediately. What should’ve been a relaxed post-match drink suddenly felt tense. Our whole team picked up on it—some even asked what I’d said to upset her, and were surprised when I said I’d done nothing out of the ordinary. We’re used to pubs with good energy, where staff are at least neutral, if not welcoming. But this felt intentionally unwelcoming, like we weren’t wanted there at all. It made several of us uncomfortable enough to skip a second round—something we normally wouldn’t hesitate to get. Everyone has bad days, but if you’re working in hospitality, it’s your job not to take it out on customers, especially those who’ve done nothing wrong. The whole interaction was unprofessional and left a sour taste.
