We stopped here en route back up north for something to eat and as a stay over in the campervan. The welcome was warm and friendly from the staff, the building is cozy with the open fires going and the layout is great with separate rooms for dining/drinking. Also has a great beer garden, it is on the main road but it’s not that busy (and we were there on bank holiday Monday) The food menu had lots for all different tastes and was delicious. Dog friendly. All round lovely pub will visit again.

Most incredible stop off at the apple tree today! We didn’t expect to stop but was drawn in by the most incredible artwork we’ve ever seen. And the service we received when we entered was exceptional. The lady behind the bar was beyond kind & honestly couldn’t have asked for a better person so speak to. She was super friendly & got to talking to her about her campervan. Will definitely return for food soon!

Although I didn't stay at the Inn, I can thoroughly recommend this westcountry watering hole for its welcoming staff, in particular Martin, who brightened up a particularly wet and dreary Somerset afternoon. Visiting in winter, I found the two open fires a boon, so much so that I could easily have sat beside them sipping the great range of drinks on offer, engaged in local conversation. This venue was very quiet when I arrived on a winter's Wednesday afternoon, which was fine by me, but I understand from the locals that it can become quite busy, so reservation for food is recommended. Next time I find myself in Glastonbury, I will make a special effort to dine here.

A pub with great potential but needs someone to go in and shake it up. Food wasn’t great and I’m guessing out of a frozen packet and straight into the microwave. Poor young waitress who was very shy and we basically had to try and lip read what she was saying every time she spoke to us as she was so quiet. I’m sure she’ll do fine with a bit of training but unfortunately, that won’t change the cheap poor food.

Our first visit to The Apple Tree, but won't be our last. A really good looking pub, looks like it has had some referb work? It was a bit quiet but it was Wednesday evening. Nice welcome, good beer and cider. The printed menu looked good, but a lot of the items were discontinued or off. The girls behind the bar was really helpful though. I had the Veggie burger and Jo had the Sausage and Mash. Plates looked good, the chips are fab, the burger was alright for a normal veggie frozen puck. Jo's Sausages and mash looked nice, mash was good, really good she said, veg was a bit over cooked. I didn't try the sausages as they have dead animal in 😕. All in all a good visit, we will go back soon. Open fires, nice furniture. I hope this place does well and notched up some of the service and attention to details, it could be an absolute gold mine. Forgot to take food pics.

I drive past the Apple Tree twice a day and keep meaning to go in as I knew it before which was pretty run down and I’ve heard they’ve spent some money putting their stamp on the place. My first visit was last Saturday where we just missed their breakfast (7-11am) so we had lunch instead. I had the Butchers board which was perfect and my friend had Ham, egg and chips. We enjoyed our meal so much we wanted to try the dinner menu which we did last night. The pub had a great atmosphere about it and a few tables in to eat, a few were at the bar to which I believe were locals. We grabbed our drinks and sat at a table and we were told to order at the bar when we were ready. Once decided I went to the bar and a blonde lady took my order, as I’m from a hospitality background I was expecting within 3-5 minutes some cutlery would of been brought over and a question of condiments asked! Unfortunately this didn’t happen. Food came out in a very respectable 20 mins and then the waitress/bar lady asked the question whether we wanted sauces, because we did want sauces and still didn’t have cutlery she took 5 mins to bring everything. It was a shame as I started eating my chips using my fingers. The food was great and I tipped because of this. Unfortunately this lady needs to understand priorities when working in a food establishment rather than chatting at the bar. I will return as I want to see the place do well.

We went to this pub to meet up for lunch with our son as we were staying in the area and our son lives in Frome. We called a couple of days before to book a table and was told just come along? (perhaps that should have rang alarm bells) well we got there at 12 and the place was totally deserted and doors closed, another couple also pulled into the carpark as well. So after looking around we decided even if they were to open it looked far from appealing to actually want to eat there. So we drove back to the lion. I would certainly advise to avoid at all cost.,

Fantastic pub. Multiple areas creating zones. There's a fire pit area with seating. It's lit by fairy lights and overlooks the most beautiful countryside. There are chickens and a large outdoor seating area by the car park. Compact fires are offered for warmth during the winter months if you choose to sit outside. The bar area has two parts to it. There is a comfortable cosy room with a real fire and sofas then there's the main bar area with tables and chairs. This area has a small real fire. The area then leads on to very clean toilets and further along becomes a great venue space. The skittle alley is huge and perfect for events of all kinds. There is a door that leads into a courtyard. There are tables and chairs lit with lanterns in the evening. This area again overlooks beautiful countryside. On a clear night you are able to spot not only Venus and the red flickering Mars but also Jupiter and Saturn! It's the perfect place. Whether you're looking to stargaze by a fire with a loved one or looking to hold a party. It really has everything. Regular events are held such as funk nights, barbecues and biker events. Rooms are also available. They are very clean and comfortable and the host is the most warm and welcoming person. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

When we first arrived, we were told to just go sit down wherever, so we took a seat. It then took 30 minutes for someone to come over and ask what we would like to drink, out waitress then said just tell me what you want to eat now so its easier.. without even informing us what was available. So we asked what was available and ordered 2 roast dinners. Another 30 minutes goes by and are drinks finally arrive. So we sit and continue to talk and drink our drinks. Another 30 minutes and more people were arriving and taking there seats near us, they were being served drinks but also had to wait a long time to receive them. I tried to call over the waitress but was ignore and unsuccessful. At this point the other tables around us who arrived after us were receiving there food. We had finished our drinks as it had been over an hour of more waiting, me and my partner were dehydrated and fed up at this stage. I had to get up and interrupt her to even get the waitresses attention, I explained we didn't have our food and she said she'd go check what was going on. She then came back after another 15 minutes saying what do you want to eat?.. Even though she took out order in the first place, so we asked how long it would be because we waited long enough. She said she would dish it up right now.. proving it wouldn't be fresh food. We said two beef roasts and asked if we could have another drink, she then disappeared again. Another 10 minutes goes by and our drinks come out.. and another 10 minutes after that our food does. The food was awful, the portion sizing was disgusting, there was a child behind us complaining he was still hungry. If a child is hungry imagine the portion for adults. Although we ordered beef we were given lamb.. and the food was cold and some of it burnt. The waitress then refilled she owned the place with her partner who appeared drunk. He acted totally unprofessional, slapping his partners bottom in front of customers and just being inappropriate. I would never go back to this pub and would really recommend you don't either.

A few weeks ago I was on a road trip from Ireland and as allways I start my trip in this lovely part of Somerset..After pitching my tent in the wonderful Ashcombe farm campsite , I ventured across the road to the Apple tree. In the year since I had been there, the pub and restaurant had been taken over by the lovely Chrissie and Rich and what a difference. They have put their own mark on the inn and together with Peter behind the bar, give a very warm welcome with a real smile. They have a nice selection of local ales which are very well kept and well priced.Although I didnt eat there on my visit, the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, The ambience of the place is genuinely very welcoming and if your blessed with some sunshine, the beer garden over looks some of the most beautiful fields the west country has to offer. .I got chatting to a few of the locals and like the team running the place, they were such nice folk...I would definetly recommend a visit to soak up the Somerset hospitality and will most certainly be going back...A big thanks to Chrissie, Rich and Peter for making me feel so welcome....'Sláinte'

We had family down for a visit so booked for our group of 12 for lunch. When booking by phone our person was told if we could make it 30 later as they already had a large group of 20 in prior to this so would give them a little time to clear, no problem. This was backed up when we arrived where a couple of couples were turned away as they were full for food - this obviously backup up what we were told on the call but a number of tables were empty in the dining room and continued to be for our whole visit. On to the main event, the carvery, we queued with a selection of Turkey, beef, pork or gammon. My beef was nicely pink but was a little disappointing as on our last visit it was so good it just fell apart and melted in the mouth where as this time was a little tougher as beef can been. My wife was given the end of the pork joint for her meat slices and I would say percentage-wise at a minimum 50% was pure white fat. Vegetables we limited as most of the serving dishes were almost empty. The chef came out to the manager as we were heading back to the table and from what we could here they said they had ran out of most of the veg saying that the 70 covers so far had gotten though what he would anticipate was 200 portions. So was replacing dishes with what looked like ratatouille, not very Sunday lunch. So basically as I went through there were mixed peas and sweetcorn, broccoli and about a spoon of green beans left oh and the 'ratatouille'with a queue still behind me. Roast potatoes look almost if they had been cooked before and then brought back out and heated, and tasted average at best. Horse radish and graveyard were all fine.Dessert- we ordered, the children all wanted brownies but there were apparently only 3 left so alternative ice cream and cheesecake were chosen and one apple tart. After a long long wait they arrived, well all but the simple ice cream for the 3 year old who could not understand why everyone else had something and not them but after several requested it arrive with an explanation the it had been left in the kitchen - you don't say! More cutlery had to be requested as some of the spoons were large serving spoons not dessert spoons. The best one, the apple tart, served with a surprisingly large scoop of Ice cream on top - generous you think? No it was to make sure the whole top was covered as it was completely black and dried up, crunchy, and a blateant attempt to cover a substandard dessert. It was sent back and one that still resembles golden cooked apple colour returned with a normal level of ice cream. On paying we did query the pricing vs the advertised prices online although not overly bothered, however the explanation was, yes there are several of those out there from prior managements - here's an idea, get them taken down!!Overall last visit, would come back for the food if not the service. This visit, wont be coming back in a hurry.

We looked forward to our visit on a Sunday for the Carvery. We checked online to make sure our two dogs would be welcomed and set out on a 6 mile journey. Arrived at the inn and went into the pub to find a table. A man stopped us and told us that our dogs were not allowed in because it was a Carvery and customers would be fetching their own meals. I understand that this may be necessary for health and safety but why was there no mention of this online. Also the opening time online is until 6pm whereas the entrance to the pub states that it is until 4pm. I chose this establishment because I did not want the embarrassment of being refused entry because of our dogs but this is exactly what happened. What a shambles.

Driving along with the girlfriend, and we saw the pub, thinking, what a cute little pub, lets grab something to eat, parked up, plenty of parking. So far so good...We go in and are greeted at the bar, order some drinks and sit down at the table. This is where things go downhill. The diet coke was flat, the table, well i've touched less sticky things at a children's soft play! We decided to look at the menu, and i have to say, the selection was poor, 7 items on the menu! We opted to have a jacket potato each, using the logic, how can you go wrong with a jacket potato?Well, after the girlfriend having to order a different jacket as they had no coleslaw, they arrived in what seemed like record time.First bite, they were cold, 2nd and 3rd bites, they weren't cooked in the middle. We ate what was eatable, and left in a hurry.Unfortunately, despite the pleasantness and friendliness, we won't be visiting again!Sorry

Well apple tree you really need to sort your roast potatoes and gravy out. The spuds were awful, soggy, no seasoning, and the gravy was so watery it was tasteless and almost clear.

Staying at the campsite across the road went on Saturday night for dinner. Chrissie and Rich were so attentive and welcoming. Wow ... and the food delicious. Thanks for that gorgeous not too overly dressed crab 😉

Lovely old pub with a warm welcome from Chrissie. We just dropped in by chance but had a splendid meal of muscles with chips and warm bread - wonderfully fresh and brilliantly cooked. Quite a dishy chef too!

Three of us arrived without booking on a weekday evening in August. We were made very welcome and had a very good meal. The menu is excellent for a country pub. We`ll be back before long. Thank you Apple Tree Inn!
