Live football being televised in a great beer garden. Staff were extremely personable, a great selection of beer and the pizza was great. Approx 15 minutes on foot to Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium with nearby street parking available. Would return!

Recent visit was disappointing. Poorly trained barmaid calling everyone luvvy. Pulled two pints three quarters full, left them on the counter no intention of topping them up to a full pint. Had to wait five minutes to catch her eye before rectification, then tried to charge me again. Please don't scam people with lazy short measures - its tiresome to have to ask everytime. Pizzas were ok on the night.

We're so lucky to have The Annexe within walking distance from us so we can get our pizza fix! Their build-your-own-pizzas are fantastic value for money - we have both ate in and collected. Being able to customise every option - the base, sauce, toppings and finishing touches, is great. The pizzas are always really fresh and not at all greasy. I would highly highly recommend The Annexe.

Table for 4 adults.... 2 x veggie Wellington (delicious), 1 x pork belly, 1 x chicken and 2 x cauliflower cheese. All full of flavour, piping hot and good service. The roast is a total bargain at £9.95 too! One portion of cauliflower cheese between is plenty. Highly recommended

The Annexe is a lovely little pub that serves about 8 real ales and 3 or 4 ciders. The Sunday Roasts are a real gem and at great prices. Would recommend to anyone. Always very busy about 2pm on a Sunday so make sure you book a table.

So me and my partner seen great reviews for the annexe on Facebook and had to try it.. he had the beef and I had the pork belly and both the meats were great. I felt the rest of the roast was ok/nice but could do with a little more flavour/seasoning. The roast potatoes tasted like they were left out from the night before but that was the only real disappointment I had. The atmosphere in the pub and beer garden is lovely and I will return as I think I may have just visited on an off day but all in all for under £10 it was definitely value for money and the puds are very yum!

I have been to the Annexe many times. The service is always friendly and your presence is always acknowledged. On one Sunday evening four of us went in after playing badminton. We went again a week later and the barman remembered our order from the previous week. The food is excellent and great value. There are always 'specials' in addition to the regular menu which has plenty of choice. Roast dinners are superb value on Sundays. Their pizzas are the best I've ever eaten (and you can phone to arrange collection of pizzas if you want a take-away. The Annexe is just off the beaten track of Gloucester Road. If it was on the main street it would always be full!

First visit to this so called traditional pub and I must say it was a disappointment. It's dimly lit and rather faded and despite a good range of beers the one I chose ' London Pride' was rather past it's sell by date and I could not finish it which is rare for me. Overall as much as I love traditional pubs this was a bit too basic for me: perhaps it was just being served a second-rate pint that makes me feel like this and I'll probably give it another go despite the disappointment of my first visit.

This has been my local for over 25 years and I have supported it thru thick and thin. However I cannot sit back and let this go. The staff were unhelpful and out right lied, To recap; I went in about 7pm on a sat eve, paid for a large white wine and asked for the sound on the TV to be turned up as Murray was playing at Wimbledon. After about 15 mins the sound was grudgingly turned up for the tennis but they refused to turn the music down because 'other people' wanted to hear the music. There were 4 people in the pub all watching the tennis. As it was so lively I thought I'd go home so asked for a paper/plastic cup to put my wine in. Nothing in the annexe so I went to the sportsman. And then it got bizarre. I was refused a plastic cup as apparently the pub doesn't have an off licence. He said this in all seriousness as he stood in front of an advert for take out beer! I won't go in to the fact that the main people don't speak English. Suit yourself but this is no longer a local for locals - well I suppose it could b for Poles or eastern Europeans.

Fairly basic pub not great on the decor, dark and dated, however best pint of Blackthorn cider in Bristol (In my opinion) Also, excellent pizzas, good quality and value, very friendly staff and SKY sports on all the time. If you are close to the prison end of town on the Gloucester Road or the Cricket ground it's worth a look. It's down the side of the Sportsman pub.

As another reviewer notes, this looks like a scout hut, and the decor is dated; but they do two things really well here: it's in the CAMRA guide, so a range of well-kept beers is a given; and the crispy base pizzas are not only excellent but come with discounts for two on some days. There's a courtyard outside and sport fans turn up in droves to watch big matches, so not a place for a romantic tryst; but when you need decent beer and a damn good pizza you're in the right place.

Came here for the 3rd year in a row before the Bristol v Wimbledon match. Have always been impressed by the polite bar staff and reasonably priced, fresh food and was not let down on this visit. A massive ham roll, chargrilled chicken burger both served with chips and a proper salad came in well below a tenner which is great value in my opinion. Others in our party had steak and pork belly with all the trimmings and said it was superb. The clientele were also pleasant and welcoming which is exactly what you want as an away fan. The place was packed at 1pm but the service from the staff was flawless although it was clear they were under pressure. My only minor gripe is the selection of ales is a bit predictable but what they did have was in perfect nick. Will look forward to visiting again next year if we get the chance!

Really good pizza kitchen here. They turn out a lot of pizzas so there is not really much in the way of menu. They're tasty and have a good range of toppings. The beer selection is excellent. The pub is a little bit tired and in need of a spruce up, and the sport on the TV is annoying. Not a great place if you're a) a hipster or b) on a date. But if you want to sink some beers and pizza whilst watching the cricket, look no further.

This is a sister pub to the sportsman and tends to attract an older clientele . I like it because it is handy for the Gloucestershire cricket ground . The beer is very good and usually there are at least 5 real ales as well as a selection of lagers . Staff are very friendly and helpful.A recent pleasant surprise is the quality of the food , there has been always great fresh stone baked pizzas which I'd highly recommend but there is a wider menu. I had a 8oz rump steak with chips mushrooms and onion rings for 6.95 and the steak was excellent . There is also specials such as fresh battered fish for a similar price. The pub itself hasn't had a lot spent on it but there is a pool table and sky sportsWell recommended for a quiet beer with food or a useful place to go with bristol rovers and the cricket close by. It's a lot quieter generally than the sportsman next door

This unassuming, modern looking red-brick building behind the Sportsman pub, near the County Cricket Ground, is a former skittle alley. It's now a cracking community based pub, with a fantastic range of beers (never seen less than 7 real ales on the go) and a brilliant value-for-money food menu. Great pizzas during the week, terrific Sunday lunch offerings. One if the few pubs (along with the Sportsman, naturally) around the Gloucester Road with both SKY and BT Sports. A slightly older crowd than next door - although they share a courtyard together.

I was a regular at the Annexe 15-20 years back but age and the commitments that go with it meant that I hadn't got in there much in recent years. It always was good for real ale (and still is) but today was the first time I had eaten there in a long long time. I was amazed by how good the food was - I had a jerk chicken wrap which came with chips and an excellent salad, my wife had a salad with grilled halloumi, each under £5 and as good as anything we have had for twice the price or more elsewhere.
