I like this pub. Unfortunately, the most inept bar staff I have witnessed in some time tonight ( 25/9/24). The bar staff appeared unable to see who had been waiting and who was newly arrived. I don’t know if this is down to training or just lazy. A real shame.

First time trying real ale in any pub. I'm normally a Stella, Guinness type. The Angel make their own brown ale called False Prophet. as I like Newcastle Brown, I thought I'd give it a try. It's bloody brilliant!!. I am now a possible convert to real ales, but for now just the brown ales. Looking forward to trying the food..

The big surprise for me in Nottingham. A pup with really really tasty food! A large selection of vegetarian and vegan food. Very very friendly staff! You feel extremely comfortable. There was a small brewery and beer from it was on tap. The own beers and the guest beers I had were all very tasty. A clear recommendation and definitely try the dessert!

I spent a great afternoon in Nottingham with a few friends, enjoying beers on a glorious summer day. Our visit to The Angel was, for me, the highlight of the day. The beer selection was exceptional and impeccably maintained, particularly the stout. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making it the perfect spot for a social gathering. Special mention to Dylan/Dillon for looking after us. 🍻

Not what it used to be. So back 20+ years ago it had one of the best Punk and Metal juck boxes in town! Now sorry to say it's fallen into trendy ville / student hell. Yes I know times change but Nottingham has lost the alternative scene that it used to have. You could walk in the Angle on a week day with a great mix of suites, punks and rockers and they all came in for the music and ale. Just my thoughts.

The Angel Microbrewery is on Trip Advisor under the category of “Bars and Pubs”. If anyone needs help that means it’s main focus is as a pub, not a restaurant, therefore I suggest you use it as such. Yes, like a lot of pubs it provides food, but looking at previous reviews, the food here clearly polarises opinions, whereas anyone who has just come for a beer has scored it 4 or 5 stars and that’s because the beer choice and quality is very good. In fact as ale pubs go this is a cracking one. A two bar pub with a well worn ale house feel and vibe and the addition of brew kit in the far corner that adds to the ambiance of an ale house when it’s on the go. Four pumps in each bar section that usually provide eight different ale choices with a couple of their own and then a good collection of guests, plus eight taps for interesting craft ale option. For my visit earlier this week regarding real ales they had three of their own products on the bar, Exodus Pale Ale, Yipee Aye Yay IPA (good)and Summer Blonde, and then Bear Town Brewey Rahuna, Liquid Light Mother North and Brass Castle Rhubarb and Custard Mild (exceptional good). And then the craft keg taps included one of their own alongside a couple from Brass Castle and a couple from Liquid Light. So for those who are in need of guidance, if you are after chicken or a burger go to Nando’s or Five Guys. If you are after some very good home brew, come here.

The food was bad. The order was wrong too (real calamari instead of vegan). The calamari was dry, like it was old. The tacos were bad, no flavour and dry. The fries were dry and more like crisps. The mushy peas were dry. The only good thing was the vegan Mac and cheese. For the prices we expected better. We came quite late and I wish they’d said no to food service if they weren’t prepared to serve good food at that time.

At any point the staff may just decide if they are serving food or not. The bar staff and management communicate poor between one another, so whatever the bar staff tells you, do not listen to them. All in all, if you ever want food and drinks do not come to this place.

First visit and last. The food was appalling. I genuinely, hand on heart, have never been served worst food in my life. Objectively the Angel brews a wide range of own ale and keeps some interesting keg on. Unfortunately the ale is a bit bland for my likeing which I think is due to the water quality in the east midlands area. One boxed cider on, Lilly's fruit type

After hearing a lot about this pub, my wife and I decided to visit the Angel on a Tuesday afternoon. It exceeded our expectations: the food (especially the beer battered fish and onion rings) were sublime, and I enjoyed working my way through their huge real ale selection. There was truly something for everyone. For a Tuesday afternoon, there were a surprising number of patrons, which made for a lively atmosphere. We look forward to coming again for dinner, a pint, a live gig, or perhaps the trio!

I don't like giving bad reviews but it was really bad, we booked weeks in advance and paid a deposit for my daughters 30th birthday, they had put tables reserved on and said they would move the tables together for us, of course they didn't...they didn't even clear the tables or wipe them, I did it, there weren't enough chairs and told me to look around the pub for them as they had been taken, so I did, after 45 minutes we asked where the food was? They apologised and said they had been busy and the orders hadn't been given to the kitchen, when it did eventually arrive the boneless fish was full of bones and the peas well I don't know what they were! The table staff were very nice and apologetic, but we wouldn't go back for food...sorry

This used to be a real favourite for food. In recent times, however, the standard of food has dropped. Pre-covid, the Angel offered a wide selection for meat eaters and veggies/vegans. Now the choice is slim and the quality is poor. I recently had chips added onto a meal, and was revolted by how they were saturated in grease. This is basic cooking. While it is a nice pub for drinks, it can be difficult to find a seat during busy times. The staff are pleasant, but service can be slow. The variety of drinks is generally ok, but information at the venue regarding speciality beers is limited. As a microbrewery this should be forefront knowledge shared by staff. In essence, the food selection needs to be diversified, and steered away from cheap, simplistic and poor quality options.

I went in there and had a Blonde 3.9% (pale ale) and it was very nice; it had only just come on so I can’t speak for the other beers. Price was standard if not ‘good’. The young gentleman who served me was very positive and welcoming. The room I sat in (the dining area) had a nice atmosphere. I have been in the large room before on a busy evening and I didn’t think it was very good though. There seemed to be a fairly ‘standard’ crowd in there - whatever that means

Felt the need to review as I've been a year or so ago and it seems the food has gone down hill...as soon as I walked in I could just smell oil from the deep fat fryers, not nice. Choice of ale and beers are good, ordered fish & chips....fish was cooked well but the chips(fries) were well overcooked and soggy with oil. The mushy peas were dry and stodgy! Such a shame as this place used to be great....if you cant cook the basics (chips) you've got a problem. Think I'll stick to a pint and packet of crisps in the future.

I love this venue for the atmosphere and drinks, but more recently I have been disappointed with the food post-covid. It used to be a favourite for me and pals to dine here, but since the menu has been condensed down, it has consequently become limited for interesting choices. It has also steered away from the more traditional, hearty, gravy pub meals for more simplistic dishes. It has become dull, and less appealing for meat-free persons for who this was a hotspot - the seitan steak and peppercorn sauce used to slap! I recently had a toastie for lunch at a fairly reasonable price. It was as good as a toastie can be not made at home, but I regret adding the fries due to them being drenched in grease. The taste of the oil dominated the chips and was sickly. Aside from the food, staff are all friendly and service tries to be quick but this can be challenging due to the popularity of the venue. Sometimes, it can also be difficult to find a seat. Overall, it’s not somewhere I would consider for food anymore due to the menu changes - it’s become very average - unless you bring back to veggie bangers and mash, pie, and seitan steak! It’s nonetheless good for a drink at certain points in the day depending on what atmosphere you want, although prices can be on the slightly higher side.

I have always loved going here as a pub and was so impressed by the last Sunday dinner that I had here 5 months ago, I would have scored it 9 out of 10. The Chapel is a beautiful room, intimate and allows for a wonderful connection between crowd and artist. Parking was handy with nearby street parking and access to the stage via a set of stairs out the back saved going through the pub with all the gear. I was very excited to visit for the first time today with some friends from abroad. We came in for some Sunday dinner. Unfortunately, the experience did not quite meet our expectations which is a shame because the place has a huge potential. We had a reservation and were shown to the table without any explanation about ordering. After a little wait we decided to find out where we can get the menus and were directed to the bar without any further comment. We sat down and decided on what to have waiting for a waitress to take the order. She passed us a few times but seemed to be avoiding any eye contact so we thought she was busy and waited further. After a while I went to ask where we should order and were directed to the bar again. It would be nice if there was any sign or if the waitress informed us on the begining because it would save us the awkward wait. We received the dinners after a long but not excessive wait and were asked if we would like any sauces. I asked for two and started eating. All of the dinners were luke warm at best and the beef was pretty tough. Nice portion of meat/seitan but a really small portion of potatoes and the rest. Unfortunately, the waitress did never come back with the sauces and did not interact with us any more at all. We left disappointed especially that the food has a huge potential and the vegan options are amazing! I love the overall vibe of the place as well and I would love to come back but this experience was really disappointing. I am giving 3 stars hoping that it must have been an unlucky day and time.

Got served meat instead of the vegan option after waiting an age for it to come. Pointed this out to someone who sent the chef over to see us and when explaining the problem his response was to swear under his breath. Requested a refund which I would have thought would be offered without having to ask but clearly nobody was especially bothered that the order was wrong. Also served a veggie pie to one of our group who had ordered meat. Food was served with bare fingers, cutlery on the floor, one staff member went off for a cry. Really really disappointed. We visited today and ordered a vegan platter. Advised it would be about a 45 minute wait which was fine, we were happy to wait. Food arrived and our platter was missing the mac and cheese, when we were about to ask about this I tried the ‘BBQ pulled jackfruit’ and immediately I knew it was pork and not jackfruit. We drew the staff members attention to this and she checked with the chef who checked and said that yes it was meat… even though the ticket CLEARLY said it should be vegan. I’ve worked as a waitress and in food service before so I completely understand that mistakes happen BUT what I was really disappointed with was that the staff didn’t seem that bothered, we didn’t really get an apology and when we asked how long it would take for them to remake the platter as vegan they said they didn’t know, so as we’d been waiting 45 minutes already we just got a refund. I haven’t eaten meat in about six years. I certainly wasn’t planning on starting again so I’m pretty upset that I ate meat because of a mistake that this pub made and they honestly didn’t seem to care that much. I understand the the owner is vegan and I wonder how he would have reacted to being served meat when he ordered a vegan meal.

Food very expensive for what you actually get & one of our meals not cooked properly. Beer honestly tasted like they'd squeezed the barrel to get the last drop. Staff miserable however I heard the way one of them was spoken to my 'management' and I'm not surprised - obviously a very negative work place culture.

Great beers, friendly staff, good venue. The local onsite ales/stouts/beers are excellent.

Visited for a solo outing. The young, dark haired girl behind the bar was the picture of miserable. The food was rubbish for the cost. The Fish finger sandwich…There was one chunky fish finger cut up in to small portions sandwiched between two slices of Morrisons malted bread, the salad green was on the turn and a fairly wilted shade of parched. The fries were the better half of the meal, however, they’re fried so anything friend would taste good.

Good and atmosphere always brilliant. We visited on a weekday right at the start of lunch when they were training new kitchen staff so there was a bit of a wait for food. But as an apology, completely unprompted, they brought us an extra brown of chips. Beer is always good and it's one of my favourite pub grub places with vegan options in Nottingham

The Angel is far nicer than I remember it being many years ago. It's still got great little nooks and crannies, full of comfy furniture and neat little features and the faint smell of really good beer being made. The food doesn't look like the biggest portions, but that's okay because it's dense and filling and made of both top-notch ingredients and solid, stylish cooking. Very much worth your time and money.

Me and my partner come in here often for drinks , today we have came in and had such a brilliant server I felt as thought I had to write a review , I believe his name was Joey, not sure if he’s one of the owners. He has been so attentive to any minor queries we have had and has been so personal and friendly. Top notch customer service compared to any I have seen in Nottingham! He has made our night in his friendliness and personalisation! He deserves as much credit as possible.
