I take back ALL the praise, I gave this Establishment. I visited it on Friday, at 7 : 00 p.m., and found it ,very quiet, (nor a bad point for Me). Waited several minutes, before being noticed, when a member of staff, checked My booking. Was shown to a table, and Menus, supplied, (VERY SMALL PRNT, they haven't changed. Even with reading glasses, hard to see). Ordered drinks, which were, brought quickly,(Guinness needs to be poured correctly, it didn't look good, and it didn't taste good either). I went for the SPECIAL Menu, and ordered a, Venison Burger, with trimmings. After several minutes, was told that, they had the burger, but a blackberry/ currant, joue, wasn't available, so I settled for some cranberry sauce. The meal consisted of; the Burger, with toppings,(didn't look, or taste, very SPECIAL, some frozen chips, and 3 frozen onion rings). We were told, to be careful, because the plates were hot, (DEFINITELY NOT 😠). Eat the meal, were asked if We would like to see, the pudding menu..... got it, and WAITED......... Decided We'd had ENOUGH, WAITNG, and WAITED, to be NOTICED. I had to ASK for the Bill....PROMPTLY PAID, and LEFT, (LEAVING, ½ Pint, of badly poured Guinness). A 'SPECIAL,' evening SPOILED.😠 P.S. I DON'T LIKE, BEING DISTURBED, by staff, interrupting, to ask, if We were ENJOYING, our meal, especially as We WEREN'T.😠

We went for a roast dinner and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The gravy was lumpy, we only had 2 or 3 very small potatoes each, which tasted as if they were from the freezer, the Yorkshire was chewy and we ordered a side of cauliflower cheese that had barely any cheese on! About two thirds of the plate was undercooked veg, not what you want from a £16 roast dinner. Our server seemed to disappear after serving our food, so I had to go to the bar to pay our bill at the end. We used to love the Ferry and would go often, but on the past 2 visits the food has been very disappointing.

Went for a friend's birthday meal to this pub, no one was overjoyed with their meal. I had a steak cooked saignant. It looked lovely but tucking into it to find it was cold. Spoke with a lovely gentleman who couldn't do enough, asking if the other meals were acceptable. We all spoke honestly; my meal was returned to the kitchen and replaced by a hot steak and chips. At the end of our meal management had kindly deducted the cost of the steak, and fish and chips. We felt this was totally unfair on the establishment and insisted we pay for the fish and chips as we complained, in main, about the cold steak. I've been fortunate enough to have eaten in many restaurants and pubs, we didn't pay for, nor expect, an Ivy Soho Brasserie type experience but did expect an average pub grub meal, it definitely fell short. Positive criticism will hopefully help management in keeping on top of small things such as chipped plates (could harbour harmful bacteria) the odd cold meal, vinegar on tables, small portion of peas, chips etc. All in all a little disappointing, but couldn't praise management's response enough in how it dealt with the matters raised. One final thing! I'm not sure if a kitchen KP fancied me, or was overly concerned about our dining experience. After our complaint had been acknowledged he came out and visible stared at me on four separate occasions. I'm not one who is exceptionally sensitive to such behaviour, but I did find that vexing. In future I'd advise him to go ask for a photo, and, or phone number!

We visited yesterday for lunch; for my girlfriend’s birthday. I know The Ferry is a lovely looking place and I’ve had good experiences previously ordering drinks only. However I have to say we were all three of us very disappointed with the food. Firstly it took a while to get served; the waitress abandoned us and eventually the bar lady came and took our order. My friend has already reviewed her experience so it would be unfair to repeat that; but personally my steak & ale pie was not great. The pie was cooked ok but really a little too big; the taste was very salty and little else, certainly didn’t taste home made. The chip portion was way too small, I’d run out of chips by the time I’d eaten half the pie! Plus they were mostly too flat, crispy things. The veg (carrots & broccoli) was well overcooked. I’m struggling to think of anything positive. I have to say that the manager immediately rectified my friend’s issue by replacing her meal, and the bar lady was really kind too and took the cost off our bill. I’ve knocked the star off “service” only for the waitresses who didn’t really look after us too well. I feel that the management genuinely want to use these comments to improve anywhere they can, so I hope this is taken constructively. From all 3 of our meals I’d say that more effort should be put into quality of ingredients and portion sizes, and making sure food is hot.

We had an awesome time at the Ferry Inn for brunch. The staff were incredibly friendly and super accommodating, especially when our party number changed. They serve a variety of delicious food, including desserts. I personally loved the full English breakfast - it was absolutely delicious and served piping hot. Come to this dog-friendly pub with a lovely back garden for a great time!

Worst roast dinner i have ever had.arrived luke warm.vegetables all hard.4 small roast potatoes which were obviously frozen.given 1 thin slice each of pork turkey and beef ,all obviously processed from nearest supermarket.1 processed yorkshire pudding.half a ball of rock hard stuffing.no cooking required at all just arranged on a plate.had better quality food at greggs.certainly not worth £16 each.would have been better getting a frozen dinner from morrisons.lemonade was just sparkling water with a slice of lemon, overly watered down.i wondered if it was chefs day off or if theres a chef at all.absolute garbage.AVOID!!!!

Visited the Ferry Inn in August. We were greeted and sat down at a table. Had amazing service with drinks being offered first, by Aaron. Then he continued to ask what we liked for dinner after handing us menus. The dinner was phenomenal. Always delivered with care. Nothing is ever too much for him, he still delivered service exceptionally, even though we continuously asked for things inside the restaurant. Overall, perfect service and we will be returning. Thank you for your astonishing hospitality.

We visited this sunday for the first time and had a great time. I had the three meat roast whilst my partner had the beef on the bone, and it was the best roast dinner, it came out quickly and piping hot, despite it being busy (I reserve a table as it is clearly very popular). I am particular about my roasties and these were spot on. My partner said his beef was very tender and full of flavour. Good options for our son too and he loved it, they provide activity packs for children. Service was friendly and looked after us well. We recommend the Ferry Inn and will come again.

We visited the Ferry Inn for lunch with friends today and had a very pleasant experience. We ordered the lamb rump chef special and the fish and chips, and it was incredible, food was well presented, hot and very delicious, amazing value for money. It was a lovely atmosphere with a great outdoor seating area. Of everything we want to mention the highlight of the meal was the incredible service, we felt this was the best we've had anywhere for a while, staff were very attentive in making sure we were happy, comfortable and wanting for nothing at each stage, very easy to chat to and took a genuine interest in customers. Makes all the difference and will certainly be getting our custom again soon.

Pleasant atmosphere, however that’s where our positive experience ends. Purchased a bottle of Diet Coke and Sol and was charged £9.30 for two drinks, not sure where this pub purchases its drinks from to rip off customers to this extent! We also witnessed customers being told that they could not order food as they were busy but at the same time advised if they wanted food to book online, very odd. Won’t be returning

I had a burger which comes with fries mine and my partners plates had about 5 chips on until we asked for more, which we did get but still not very many. The chips were quite greasy and not the best quality In general. Had lovely dessert and drinks tho!

Had a really disappointing family lunch. My meal had about 6 crispy chips on it and the chicken ciabatta barely contained any chicken. We were warned when ordering that there would be a long wait and not long after the staff were advising people they weren't serving food. There was hardly anyone in. What was once a really popular pub with lovely meals has really given downhill. Standards have slipped and there isn't enough staff to cope.

We had pre-booked for a lunch time meal with our son. Our order was taken. Then several groups arrived after us and had they their orders taken and their meals brought. 😟But our meals didn't arrive. We asked why... Then a hurried waitress dashed to the kitchen to find out ... Then the meals were brought to us. My wife's meal arrived with tough chicken on a cold plate. My son's pie and chips was also on a cold plate. We have loved coming to the Ferry on previous recent occasions, but this time we were quite disappointed with the service and food.. To give the Ferry credit, they didn't charge us for the food items 👏

Came to visit Warhammer world in Nottingham and stayed in a Travelodge nearby. My cousin who lives in Nottingham met up with us Tuesday evening and we decided to have a few beers and food in nearby pub. He had previously watched his son play rugby by the ferry inn and said it's got a great reputation so we set out on a 15/20 min trek to have a drink and some food. We arrived by 7 and had some drinks while we looked over the menu. After deciding on a meal the 4 of us went to the bar to order and sadly we're told we could order as a large table of people had arrived and the kitchen couldn't manage! But if we waited around hopefully we could order once the rush had eased off. Now the Inn was far from full and sadly after asking a few times over the 1 1/2 hrs we stayed in the pub we had to leave to find somewhere that could accommodate us !! It's poor that a half empty inn has to turn customers away when a large party of 11 arrives ... I'm sure the food is tasty but I wouldn't know !

We have been visiting Ferry Inn for a few years now and we have always had nothing but a great experience. It is one of the best pubs in town. It is both family and dog friendly. Dom and his team are always very friendly and helpful. I love that they offer healthy options for the kids and not just the usual nuggets, fish fingers and chips. Food os always great and the chef's specials are beyond what you would normally get in a pub. There are many reasons why this place is so popular and busy, so I do recommend to always have a booking to avoid disappointment.

Arrived at the Ferry for lunch, our normal local. We had a table outside of 9 pax. When we tried to order food at the bar, we were met with rude staff who refused to allow us to order, stating that because we had not booked a table we can't order any food. We even tried to say we would all order the same thing, a burger to make it easier and we were refused. So we left and went to Dorset down the road, who had no problem in accommodating us. Our bill was over a thousand quid, that the Ferry completely lost out on. Your staff are rude, unaccomodatting and quite frankly arrogant. Not to mention your pub was less than half full, so its not like you can afford to turn willing customers away. Four families have now boycotted your establishment, it's not the first time we have had a problem with your rude staff. You deserve to go out of business, get a decent manager who is able to think for themselves and be hospitable. You not doing your customer a favor to serve them, it's a business, make a plan.... your team are pathetic!

A wonderful, welcoming ye olde pub atmosphere awaits you as soon as you walk through the door. Has plenty of parking available and the pub is itself tucked away on the edge of a quiet residential location. The staff are extremely courteous, polite and helpful. We visited as a treat for our youngest son who studies at university within the city and he loved it. Therefore the 35+ mile journey was worth it. The food, freshly prepared and arrived piping hot to our table. Absolutely delicious! From the staters, main course and dessert, the taste, texture was simply exquisite. Tastebuds were dancing with joy. The menu has an amazing list of traditional pub food and all at a reasonable price. I feel there will be another visit in the not too distant future. Between us we mustn't had all the meats and everyone's feedback was extremely positive. I had the turkey and it was delicious. Our waitresses Tracy and Kyla were really, really friendly and very helpful throughout the whole meal which was greatly appreciated 🙏🏻 They put a candle in my Dad's mini pudding which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend 🙂

The Ferry Inn proved to be an exceptional choice for our birthday celebration. Our experience was elevated by the impeccable service provided by Charlotte, whose genuine kindness and constant warmth made our evening truly memorable. Her polite and smiling demeanor added a unique charm to our dining experience, allowing us to appreciate the essence of the Ferry Inn even more. The culinary offerings did not disappoint; the food was delicious, and the diverse selection of wines catered to our preferences. The establishment's well-designed outdoor space, especially enjoyable during sunny days, further complemented our celebratory mood. A delightful blend of excellent service, delectable dishes, and an inviting ambiance made our visit an absolute delight.

We had a delicious Sunday roast, the vegan wellington was super tasty. Service was spot on. Next time we'll ask for a table further away from the door as it was very chilly when people were coming in and out!

A nice selection on the menu with some veggie options too. Good service, and it does get quite busy on a Saturday so make sure you book.

I have just visited this pub with my mom son and partner so only 4 of us to be told at the door that there is only one chef on so there is a 2 and half hour wait on food and by the end of our service you would still not have got your food. I know the industry has had it hard over the last 2 years but I think my son of 13 could of cook four meals in 2 and a half hours. It is a Monday night at 7.30pm how does this business cope at a weekend ???

Only here for drinks but the service was diabolical. You only have to be polite, say hello and please and thank you. Don't you know that pubs are closing all the time. You have to stand out, and I'm

Hermosa idea encantadora para un salón de té temático. Muy amigable para los niños y los 7 años en nuestro grupo les encantó. Sin embargo, claramente debido a problemas de flujo de efectivo, la elecci
