Unfortunately we did not have a very good meal, we have not been in years and was looking forward to a great meal after reading some of the reviews, but sadly not! Our starter was Deep Fried Camembert, they were so deep fried there was no cheese, our pie was burnt and the carrots looked like they were from a previous day. And not cheep. Sadly disappointed.

Had a bacon and cheddar burger on Saturday. Overcooked, dry but covered in grease. Didn't finish it, and that's rare for me. Been coming almost 20 years before the football, but would've had enjoyed a burger by the ground more for a third of the price. Was like it'd been left on the grill for an hour. Foods gone down hill in the last year or so. Please sort it out because I want to keep coming.

Me and my husband went here for Sunday lunch, We've been before an it's been ok. I don't know what on earth has happened to this place but the food was awful, I'm not a picky eater and after wating for food being hungry, It takes a lot for me to say "I just cant eat that, I just can't I'm sorry." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I had the festive beef burger and it was really disgusting, the meat was fatty and hard , the chips and the onion rings were pale, tasteless and undercooked, no presentation on the plate just a plate crammed full of undercooked chips and the meat was revolting! There was nothing about the food on that plate that resembled anything festive at all! It made MacDonalds look like a Michelin Star Restaurant. The chef (I think it was) came out to us and he did apologise and said the dinner was on the house free which was really nice of them they were kind enough to substitute it as I had barely touched it. The substitute dish I chose was the festive vegetarian wellington just in case they were having an "off" day" with cheap fatty bad meat (I'm not vegetarian) but even the second dish I couldn't eat , again, undercooked , roast potatoes were pale no color not cooked properly, lumpy dry gravy, the greens looked ok but had absolutely no taste , they were dry and the whole dish was just so FLAT but it was better than the first one, after just a few mouthfuls of the second dinner we just had to leave. What made all of this so much worse was that just before leaving I went to the toilet, put handwash on my hands, lathered up only to find that there was barely a drop of water coming out of any of the three taps.! It took AGES to wash off the soap suds as best I could and then i had residue, there was just no way of getting it off! All taps across three basins were the same. I tried them all as know one was in there. I eventually came out of the toilets and my poor husband and been waiting a long time. I had a look at the other reviews on here and it seems that there is a problem here Ferry Inn with Sunday and the dinner and I also wont be visiting again any time soon!

As someone who doesn’t typically frequent pubs or enjoy pub food, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was comforting and delicious, and the pub itself is absolutely stunning. We were first seated outside, which was lovely, but as the evening got chilly, they kindly moved us indoors, and both spaces were equally charming. Some of the plates weren’t very nicely served though, especially the shrimp and fries dish so definitely room for improvement on that. The pub is dog-friendly, and there’s plenty of seating, both indoors and out, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable experience overall.

Met up for a family meal with my husbands family. What a disappointment! Chef and Brewer want to charge a premium price but don’t hold up their side of the deal by providing well cooked interesting food. I ordered the rump steak that was supposed to be served with a seasonal salad. When it arrived my salad consisted of some wilted rocket leaves that had sat under the hot pass lamps for too long. When I questioned the waitress where my salad was she pointed out that the leaves were it. When I said that it really wasn’t good enough she went to the kitchen and returned with a bowl with some more rocket, some slices of tomato and some radish slices. In her defence she really tried and I thank her. My husband ordered the toad in the hole from the specials menu. For the price (16:99) you would expect it to come with some vegetables. No. It was 3 sausages on a 1cm bed of Yorkshire pudding with a small serving of mash potato with a few flecks of chopped cabbage mixed in with it served with a tiny half full pot of gravy The sausages appeared to have been re heated as the ends were all hard like when you microwave them for too long. It felt like half a meal at full price. He then ordered the pear frangipani tart from the specials board. When it arrived it looked nice. He broke off the end of the tart and scooped a little of the cream up with it. To his horror the cream tasted of fish! He asked me to try it and I confirmed that there was a strong taste of fish in the cream. It was disgusting. He took it to the waitress who offered to replace it but by now we had had enough and clearly there is an issue if the chef serves a desert that tastes of fish. This is the worst meal we have had out in the last 20 years. The only positive from the whole meal was our waitress. She was very friendly and attentive and did try to help. She was badly let down by the kitchen who put very little effort into what they sent out to the customers. There is a huge choice of places to eat in Nottingham. This one falls short of the mark by a long way.

Poor food quality and portions. We have used your restaurants numerous times, including very recently. This restaurant, however, was poor. There are significant differences in quality and portions between other chef and brewers and your restaurant. I personally wouldn't come here or recommend anyone from visiting this site, especially when there better restaurants and chef and brewers in the area.

I take back ALL the praise, I gave this Establishment. I visited it on Friday, at 7 : 00 p.m., and found it ,very quiet, (nor a bad point for Me). Waited several minutes, before being noticed, when a member of staff, checked My booking. Was shown to a table, and Menus, supplied, (VERY SMALL PRNT, they haven't changed. Even with reading glasses, hard to see). Ordered drinks, which were, brought quickly,(Guinness needs to be poured correctly, it didn't look good, and it didn't taste good either). I went for the SPECIAL Menu, and ordered a, Venison Burger, with trimmings. After several minutes, was told that, they had the burger, but a blackberry/ currant, joue, wasn't available, so I settled for some cranberry sauce. The meal consisted of; the Burger, with toppings,(didn't look, or taste, very SPECIAL, some frozen chips, and 3 frozen onion rings). We were told, to be careful, because the plates were hot, (DEFINITELY NOT 😠). Eat the meal, were asked if We would like to see, the pudding menu..... got it, and WAITED......... Decided We'd had ENOUGH, WAITNG, and WAITED, to be NOTICED. I had to ASK for the Bill....PROMPTLY PAID, and LEFT, (LEAVING, ½ Pint, of badly poured Guinness). A 'SPECIAL,' evening SPOILED.😠 P.S. I DON'T LIKE, BEING DISTURBED, by staff, interrupting, to ask, if We were ENJOYING, our meal, especially as We WEREN'T.😠

We went for a roast dinner and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The gravy was lumpy, we only had 2 or 3 very small potatoes each, which tasted as if they were from the freezer, the Yorkshire was chewy and we ordered a side of cauliflower cheese that had barely any cheese on! About two thirds of the plate was undercooked veg, not what you want from a £16 roast dinner. Our server seemed to disappear after serving our food, so I had to go to the bar to pay our bill at the end. We used to love the Ferry and would go often, but on the past 2 visits the food has been very disappointing.

We visited yesterday for lunch; for my girlfriend’s birthday. I know The Ferry is a lovely looking place and I’ve had good experiences previously ordering drinks only. However I have to say we were all three of us very disappointed with the food. Firstly it took a while to get served; the waitress abandoned us and eventually the bar lady came and took our order. My friend has already reviewed her experience so it would be unfair to repeat that; but personally my steak & ale pie was not great. The pie was cooked ok but really a little too big; the taste was very salty and little else, certainly didn’t taste home made. The chip portion was way too small, I’d run out of chips by the time I’d eaten half the pie! Plus they were mostly too flat, crispy things. The veg (carrots & broccoli) was well overcooked. I’m struggling to think of anything positive. I have to say that the manager immediately rectified my friend’s issue by replacing her meal, and the bar lady was really kind too and took the cost off our bill. I’ve knocked the star off “service” only for the waitresses who didn’t really look after us too well. I feel that the management genuinely want to use these comments to improve anywhere they can, so I hope this is taken constructively. From all 3 of our meals I’d say that more effort should be put into quality of ingredients and portion sizes, and making sure food is hot.

Went for a friend's birthday meal to this pub, no one was overjoyed with their meal. I had a steak cooked saignant. It looked lovely but tucking into it to find it was cold. Spoke with a lovely gentleman who couldn't do enough, asking if the other meals were acceptable. We all spoke honestly; my meal was returned to the kitchen and replaced by a hot steak and chips. At the end of our meal management had kindly deducted the cost of the steak, and fish and chips. We felt this was totally unfair on the establishment and insisted we pay for the fish and chips as we complained, in main, about the cold steak. I've been fortunate enough to have eaten in many restaurants and pubs, we didn't pay for, nor expect, an Ivy Soho Brasserie type experience but did expect an average pub grub meal, it definitely fell short. Positive criticism will hopefully help management in keeping on top of small things such as chipped plates (could harbour harmful bacteria) the odd cold meal, vinegar on tables, small portion of peas, chips etc. All in all a little disappointing, but couldn't praise management's response enough in how it dealt with the matters raised. One final thing! I'm not sure if a kitchen KP fancied me, or was overly concerned about our dining experience. After our complaint had been acknowledged he came out and visible stared at me on four separate occasions. I'm not one who is exceptionally sensitive to such behaviour, but I did find that vexing. In future I'd advise him to go ask for a photo, and, or phone number!

Arrived at the Ferry for lunch, our normal local. We had a table outside of 9 pax. When we tried to order food at the bar, we were met with rude staff who refused to allow us to order, stating that because we had not booked a table we can't order any food. We even tried to say we would all order the same thing, a burger to make it easier and we were refused. So we left and went to Dorset down the road, who had no problem in accommodating us. Our bill was over a thousand quid, that the Ferry completely lost out on. Your staff are rude, unaccomodatting and quite frankly arrogant. Not to mention your pub was less than half full, so its not like you can afford to turn willing customers away. Four families have now boycotted your establishment, it's not the first time we have had a problem with your rude staff. You deserve to go out of business, get a decent manager who is able to think for themselves and be hospitable. You not doing your customer a favor to serve them, it's a business, make a plan.... your team are pathetic!

A wonderful, welcoming ye olde pub atmosphere awaits you as soon as you walk through the door. Has plenty of parking available and the pub is itself tucked away on the edge of a quiet residential location. The staff are extremely courteous, polite and helpful. We visited as a treat for our youngest son who studies at university within the city and he loved it. Therefore the 35+ mile journey was worth it. The food, freshly prepared and arrived piping hot to our table. Absolutely delicious! From the staters, main course and dessert, the taste, texture was simply exquisite. Tastebuds were dancing with joy. The menu has an amazing list of traditional pub food and all at a reasonable price. I feel there will be another visit in the not too distant future. Highly recommend.

Lovely pub with friendly staff and great food. I use a large electric wheelchair and was able to make my through the pub to our table. Doors were a little tight but my chair is particularly chunky. The food was delicious and served promptly and the staff were attentive and friendly without being too in your face. Will definitely be going back again soon.

Disappointing meal. Waited an hour for food. The food was mediocre at best. Alot of food unavailable on the menu. As far as pub dinners go you can get alot better.

Been loads of times to the Ferry, excellent staff, had to wait a long time for food. Not warm enough when it arrived. Both mains very disappointing in terms of quantity.Ordered apple pie and ice cream small soggy microwaved portion.Poor value for money overall. The bottle of white wine wasn’t properly chilled. The staff were very good but the overall experience was disappointing from a restaurant we have used a fair bit but very reluctant to go again.

Excellent Sunday roast dinner. The beef may have been too rare for some, but it was quality meat and absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive, and the pub itself is beautiful. Would highly recommend.

Waited a long time for breakfast to be served and most of the food and the plates were cold. When we mentioned this to the waitress she said that "I will feed it back to the chef" I have send two emails giving feedback but still awaiting a reply.

Had to put one star, not that that was deserved Arrived 5 minutes early, a queue at the bar, no one to seat us at the table at first One bar staff member doing more than one job Sat us at our table advised us that he would be with us shortly to take drinks orders no show 10 mins later One young man rushing in and out of the kitchen like a headless chicken Customer search for staff to pay her bill Tables waiting for food, etc Never has this restaurant been so bad Questions here where was the management to help out Sadly disappointing

The 1st & main courses were nice. The pudding was clearly microwaved as the pastry was as soggy as it is possible to be and only Luke warm. Plus 2.25 hours for a 3 course meal just is not acceptable. Admittedly they did remove the cost of both puddings, but I'm afraid that was too much, too late. That is the last time we visit The Ferry. A shame I've been going there for close on 40 years on and off.

Absolutely wonderful food and service such friendly staff never dropped there face while busy. Portion size of food very acceptable brilliantly done crisp Korean bbq stripes Table setting was very nice cutlery well polished clean gasses no mark Only thing is mushy peas had been under hot lamp too long bit dry need more touch of stock or water. Far to big ramekins need smaller helps when walking with plate. Will be coming back grew up not thank you for a magnificent service. 🥯🥞🥓🍗🫔🍲🥘🍤🥮🥛🍸🍺🍺🍺🍽🍴🧊

Met my girlfriend here as as she likes the place, must admit she wasn't wrong, it has a lovely atmosphere and the lovely lady who served us was fabulous, very helpful and took a photo for us. Sadly didn't get her name but has a heart shape on here top. We had coffee which came with a delicious biscuit. My cappuccino was very nice, the pub is old and in a great place at a dead end. Really enjoyed our time and never felt pressure to leave. It was moderately busy and getting a fair amount of Sunday lunchers by the time we left, we will definitely be going again.

My family wanted steak, but then said they didn’t have any so they had to go with another option that also wasn’t very good. Wanted a candy mania for dessert and yet again they didn’t have nothing in to make them. Really not happy and I’m definitely not coming back here again

This place is always busy when there are events on at the Theatre Royal or the Royal Concert Hall. Service is slow, and sometimes you feel invisible as the bar staff are not aware of who is next to be served and serve the person right in front of them. If it was not for the fact that it is the bar for both places, I would not attend.

They packaged all of my hot food with an ice cold can of tango, so everything arrived stone cold The stone cold food that did arrive was laughable portion wise. Note that everything you see on the menu is the smallest portion they could possibly muster. They also made the strange choice to package my mushrooms together with the baked beans. So they just tasted of beans. How they thought that was a good idea is beyond me. It blows my mind that after millions of years of evolution, something so simple goes right over some people's head!
