The Angel Inn in Bassetlaw

Not been for a few years but the food and service along with a lovely menu and specials board were all excellent , staff were very efficient and friendly , we booked for 5-30 and about 6 pm onwards it started to fill and get busy but everyone around us was served efficiently and obviously they were used to being busy yet plenty of check ins to see If everything was ok . Could not fault the food or drinks and the specials desserts were so tasty Highly recommend and will definitely be back again Well done to all at the Angel

Our food last night was beautiful. Very tasty! There is plenty of choice on the menu and additional options on the specials board. Staff are very friendly, efficient and professional. Will definitely return soon.

Came here for a wedding reception. Staff friendly and helpful. Food amazing. Stayed the night, room immaculate. Bed very comfy, shower very powerful. Big bath sheets. Breakfast huge and tasty. Would highly recommend and would most definitely stay here again.

Sunday lunch was tasteless and over cooked. The meal is plated and served to the table. I had lamb shank with stuffing and cauliflower cheese that was inedible. On a positive note front of house service was very friendly shame about the meal.

Last time we visited, we called for lunch and drinks. My Stella Artois had still got line cleaner in the lines, brought me a second pint which was the same, as ex publicans we knew what the problem was, more attention is needed to ensure this is not repeated. Hence we will not be visiting again

After a fairly emotional call from my mum, she told me about a pretty amazing experience at the Angel inn. She has regularly eaten there with dad and since he passed away in June. On her visit last week she went for some lunch and as usual chatted pleasantries with the team working. She was shown to her table and decided to order a small Christmas dinner. The team asked if she would like a sweet and she declined as her appetite is limited. She suggested a coffee liquor which my mum jumped at (as it was Christmas).. As she was nearly finished the lady came back and asked how everything was? My mum replied “As ever, it was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed the Coffee “. “Well I want to pass on an act of random kindness and pay for your lunch”. Mum was gobsmacked and asked why? The lady said she had received an ARK and as my mum always takes time to speak with the team every time, she wanted to pass it on to her. This has had an incredible impact on mum, myself and my brother especially since dad recently passed away. Mum is tearfully telling everyone about it. From all of us. A huge thank you. Your ARK was perfectly timed and has generated at least 3 people to pass on our ARK’s and perhaps some more who read this. All our love from Jacky, Richard and Roman Collins xx

Out last night with friends The staff were do nice and helpful it makes a change to be felt special Food was lovely. A few vegan options but not many. So hope they have a few more next time. The Xmas decorations made it look fab.l and cosy Thank you for a nice night.

Sonday 26th, at 6pm. A pre-booked table of 9. Out of the 9 of us. 4 didn't really like their meal. 3, said it was average. 2, enjoyed. Meal's quite staggered to come out. % had puddings with one coming 3-4mins, after the others finished. So refused it. The Angel Inn, use to me a great place to dine. People in the area, keep rating the Angel. 3 weeks myself, partner and in-laws visited. We all thought the food and service were average. But saying that, they was a little busy.

Fantastic stay! We stayed for one night after a friend’s wedding and were not disappointed. The room is very modern with sound proofing from the road, the bathroom and shower very adequate for a night’s stay, and the bed comfortable. The only moan was it was too warm for me, but better too warm than too cold. The breakfast which was included in the room rate was superb! And a special thanks to the owner for offering to cook us break fast after we forgot to preorder, and being late up. A really nice touch. We would definitely stay again or come off a pint and food sometime soon.

Wish it had been better, as we had heard good reviews and recently moved to the Area. The Sunday Lunch was tasteless, the Chicken on the Sizzlers was dry and not marinated in the chosen sauce, so it felt it was left under the hot plate until a sauce was chosen and the Chips were cold with it. Service was slow. I have to say the Waitress serving the next Table had a skirt so short was just about covering her bottom which is unprofessional. Finally a Family were let in with the Male still wearing their Work Wear (high Viz, jacket and trousers covered in dirt and oil). Totally un-hygienic?!? And disappointed that they were allowed to stay without being asked to come back when they had washed and changed. Sorry, I wish it had been better.

A friend booked lunch here as he is a regular visitor for lunch. Plenty of parking, comfortable looking dining room, prompt & friendly service followed by excellent food. What more could we want? We left very full and very satisfied.

Travelled here for my birthday other side of Doncaster for a meal 6 of us. Friends had told us it was a lovely place. Despite a long wait to have our order taken and asking multiple times as they must have only certain staff that can do this , it was busy too Sunday afternoon. However, everything else was perfect. The table , the food and menu was amazing. Such a shame it rained as kids wanted to play outside as lovely beer garden and play area. We will definitely come back as it was lovely and staff nice too.

Booked The Angel a few weeks ago as a stop off for lunch on a long trip to Scotland with Grandchildren as they have a great garden with play area ,and easy accessibility off the Motorway. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Really nice Menu and what i really liked was the children could have a smaller portion of the adult meals and not just the usual burger, chicken nuggets and chips etc, etc. !Five stars just for that. We enjoyed it so much we arranged to meet some other family members yesterday on a further trip back from holiday, they live fairly locally but had not visited the Angel before. They thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance and so did we, so much so that they are going to book again for themselves. Thanks to all the lovely staff, you do a great job. We highly recommend this pub, such a better alternative to the Services!!

I booked a stay via Hotels.com and could not make the trip due to my father passing. Unfortunately Hotels.com advised I could not get a refund / exchange which really disappointed me . Today I got a lovely call from Kieran at the Angel Inn to inform me that he would honour a change in booking due to the circumstances. I initially booked after reading reviews and just this simple call and gesture tells me that this establishment is run by a caring and professional team. I can’t wait to re book and stay here based on the direct personal touch interacting with them on social media and telephone .

I visited here whilst I was exploring Blyth. It looks to be a smart public house from the outside. The car park is huge! When I came in, I was immediately asked by a (polite) man if I was dining, I said no. I ordered a lager and the man processed it through his mobile phone, instead of through the till, which I found strange. All of the tables had what appeared to be reserved signs on them, so I asked the woman behind the bar if all of these tables were reserved for diners, given the fact I had immediately been asked if I was dining. She said most of them are but "a few" might not be. I asked how do I know which ones are and the man from earlier on pointed me to a table. The signs outside advertise this as a bar and pub, so I find it strange that nearly all of the tables are reserved for people ordering food. Most Greene King pubs I have been to have a 'find a table and order food if you would like to' policy. I also noticed that the bar was crowded with people stood up drinking only, probably too afraid to sit down. Many of the tables "reserved for diners" were empty and not being used. When I was sat at the table, I looked at what looks like a reserved sign, it's actually a sign to say that the table is clean????? Strange. The interior is drab, with mis-matched furniture (not in a stylish way). I am unlikely to return here, as their method of working made me feel awkward for wanting a pint in a pub..something that is fairly easy in most pubs. The signage says pub/bar but they operate like a restaurant..there seems to be an identity crisis.

Sat outside in the lovely outdoor area which is such a sun trap! Lovely vibe, very friendly staff. Food was great, I had a mixed grill and my wife the steak, both asked for medium rare and I’d say we both received more medium well but it was still nice none the less. If we had a check back whilst we ate we would have mentioned it but as we were sat outside we felt a bit forgotten about. We would have had desserts had we been asked but never got asked and we felt a bit like we were bothering the staff so we left it. Will definitely come back again as what we ate was lovely but probably sit inside as the outdoor did seem a bit of an afterthought. When we did speak to staff they were friendly though and food was still enjoyable, may have just been an off day so willing to come again

The food was fantastic as was the service we received. The liver was so soft and tender. The portion sizes are generous with out effecting the quality . We will be back soon 👍

We called for lunch when in the area. It was quite busy and there was a good choice on the menu. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food arrived promptly. Food was good value for money.

We stayed a night but spent lunch, dinner and breakfast at the Inn. It was a very pleasant experience. The room was good, clean , good sized bed with beautifully cooked breakfast. Despite the huge crowd on the Saturday we arrived, the food was excellent. Special mention was the lamb chops, steak and kidney pie and the cod and chips. The staff were very attentive and worked hard throughout the day. Always smiling and caring. Definitely one of the best pubs we have been to!
