The Angel Hotel in Scarborough

So after an afternoon in Whitby playing the find a disabled parking space, we finally managed to park, as we was visiting friends we decided to call into the ANGEL HOTEL/WETHERSPOONS Whitby for dinner, what can one say, the place was packed and full of drunk afternoon boozers, after ordering our food and finally getting a table, it arrived & in typical fashion the Wetherspoons chefs managed to mess our food up again, This was the final straw, we will only buy drinks from now on, the food was straight out of a microwave/boil in bag type food. Do not order food from this place i expected my Cod to be fresh from the seas as we was in Whitby, but no it was soggy batter oven chips and dried cod my partner ordered sausage and mash with peas and what can we say. A 99p cheap ping meal would taste better, so avoid buying from here or any Wetherspoons.

Called in today with my husband as the weather was atrocious,we went upstairs there were 5 or 6 empty tables,went to the bar to order our food and was served straight away by a lovely man who told me the weather was that awful yesterday his cat wouldn't go out,he was professional and friendly, our food arrived in around 15 minutes we both had Fish,Chips and Mushy Peas,everything was fresh and hot and the batter was light and crispy,we throughly enjoyed our meal.

Food was ok we ordered via table service a lovely lad John s served our drinks we had cocktails. Our food arrived via a red headed lady who asked if we needed anything else and we said salt please and she couldnt be bothered fetching it which was rude tbh

Visited here every morning for breakfast during our weekend stay in Whitby and couldn’t fault it. Breakfast was huge and reasonably priced, coffee good and great value as were the alcoholic drinks. The serving staff do a great job as the place was packed all weekend and the ones we met were polite and friendly. Okay the place is a bit worn but due to the amount of footfall it’s expected. It is one of the better Wethers we’ve visited.

A very typical weathwerspoon, crowded outside and inside. I found a quieter room by using the side entrance, there was a queue at the bar, so I tried their app for the first time and it worked perfectly, My drink was delivered after a ten minute wait and the meal five minutes later. The food was fine. The cliental was not of the best quality, but that's tourists.

Had fish and chips from their pub clasic menu x 2, the menu specifically stated freshly battered COD. I've had cod on many occasions and what was served was any thing but cod. Tasted like reformed white fish of a cheaper variety which had no taste. If you want good cod please go the the Dolphin over the bridge, it it delightful.

We stayed in the hotel for one night. The hotel is great, the receptionists are lovely and give a nice welcome. The hotel is very clean, well kept and tidy. However.. we had breakfast in the pub downstairs, our cooked breakfast arrived very quickly, but was stone cold. I sent both of our plates back and a 'fresh' one was brought. This was just warm enough to eat. Quite a few people did the same. It's obvious the breakfast is pre done and then put under not so hot heat lamps. Not good. I would return to the hotel as it's great. But think twice about the breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel August 2nd and the room was spotless. The receptionist on the early shift made a warm welcome to us and throughout our stay. Brilliant and thank you your a star 🌟

Not the best breakfast in Whitby Served quickly by friendly staff but our food was stone cold in places. There are much better places for the same amount of money. We had the breakfast as we were stopping in the hotel which I may add has NO connection to the pub. We did have other meals whilst we stopped and again not the best my wife had a panini which was dry. The curry I had from the curry club was in places over cooked. In all you pays your money take your chances. A nice view of the harbour if you sit out side or can get one of the sought after window tables upstairs. Would return but would have to reconsider ordering food from here.

Visited this hotel before, and again, we were not disappointed. The room we had was a feature room and had beautiful views of the harbour and of the Abbey. The rooms are very clean, with tea and coffee facilities. Booked again for next year

Stayed two nights in twin bedded room with mate. The room was clean and well serviced by friendly staff good access with lift for those with limited mobility. Ate in the pub for dinner which was ok but the breakfast was disappointing.

Rude, obnoxious staff, not very good service, food was sub par even for a Wetherspoons. Wouldn’t come back. Pubs nearby offered a much better experience, and the staff had a smile to offer on top.

Admittedly a very busy Friday afternoon but it initially very difficult to find a table with lots of people waiting around and quite a few dirty tables. Tried to order via the app to save queueing at the bar but it crashed twice at the final stage. Initially had a couple of coffees but with only one machine working there was a large wait. We were warned about the wait in food (30 mins) and were actually waiting less than that but when food arrived it was over cooked and quite dry. Not inedible and hot but very average.

Nice place and nice staff. Quick service and food was OK. Problem...says no smoking and no dogs accept for assistance dogs. Anyway at front young idiots were smoking those stupid vapours and also cigarettes. Also young idiots had a dog under table...feeding the damn thing...and definitely not an assistance dog. Come on Wetherspoon staff .. grow a pair and tell the cheeky gits. Not everyone likes dogs and definitely not smoking.

Nice Wetherspoons and a lot quieter upstairs with plenty of seating. I had a panini of ham& cheese with a pint of lager at £8.28, others had the 3oz burger with chips and alcoholic drink at £8.07. Great value with busy , friendly staff serving you although we did use the app as there was queues at the bar.

Great hotel overlooking the harbour busy but the staff are hardworking and pleasant. The rooms are a good size .my only criticism is instead of having a Bath/shower they might consider walk in showers!

Very prompt service polite and efficient. My toast was perfect. My mug of tea was nice and strong. Its really enjoyable sitting outside watching across the Harbour .

Went for evening meal and had Katsu chicken curry - dreadful - chicken dry and hardly any sauce which was probably a blessing as it had no taste in- it tasted like a cheap Chinese sauce you can get in a packet and add water - there were absolutely no vegetable or onion in the sauce and the rice was dry and stuck together definitely not worth the money - won't be back

Popped in on our way to an appointment so watching the time. Yes it was busy as it usual is but we were not told of the 45 minutes wait before we ordered. We had our drink,s and waited and waited and waited some more.Went to the bar to query where our order was as people who had entered after us had been served. Told it was next order down a further 10 minutes?? By which time we were running late. I requested a refund which was given but only on the food as we had drunk our drink,s .After such poor service a full refund would have been nice after waiting more than an hour and then having to go without lunch. Dissapointing

Its a Wetherspoons, so you get what you get, OK food at a cheap price. Food was OK, although they had managed to run out of vegetarian sausages, so choices limited for vegetarians and vegans, but the service was appalling. Popped in for breakfast at around 9.20 on a Saturday morning prior to leaving for home. It was busy, but it always is and so they should be able to cope with that. Ordered a breakfast wrap, a vegetarian breakfast and a vegetarian sausage and egg muffin. After about 35 mins a server came to the table to inform us that they were out of the vegetarian sausages, as these come frozen and the place is always rammed obviously a bit of careless ordering going on. Anyway, we changed the orders to eggs benedict and egg and cheese muffin, then waited, and waited and waited and waited...... Approximately another 45 minutes later and at least an hour and 20 mins after placing the order, we finally got our breakfast. Food was OK, but waiting time ridiculous.

I don't regard this as a nice pub, even by J.D. Wetherspoon standards. It always seems to be packed with loud, boorish, drunken men, spilling out onto the pavement outside. Even walking past it can be an unpleasant experience. As it was early in the morning, I decided to get breakfast here, which I regret. The service was poor, the tables dirty, and almost every part of my breakfast was cold. There are better places to get breakfast nearby, and definitely better pubs.

Hotel review only! Booked a harbour view room, spacious and very clean! Would definitely go again. However would request a quiet room. We were on third floor and even with windows closed it was noisy.

We usually try to find a Wetherspoons when visiting a town. Called here for tea after a trip to Whitby. Although downstairs was quite busy, upstairs was almost empty. Usual Wetherspoons fare, drinks arrived quickly as did the food. Never disappoints
