Il posto è carino, molto frequentato. Appena entrati siamo stati avvolti da un odore di urina terribile, ma sorvolando questo, il locale è ok, camerieri gentili e birre buone. Cibo NO, mi spiace ma a Londra si mangia molto di meglio. Evitabilissimo!

Abbiamo mangiato il Sunday roasted, buonissimo, sedute comodamente nella sala interna con stile tipico pub inglese, sarei volentieri rimasta ad osservare il passaggio dalla terrazza panoramica sul Tamigi

A very old and unique place to eat and drink. The beers were great. The Sunday menu was amazing and well priced. I would recommend going there.

So, picture this: two American mothers on a girls trip without their young children or husbands to take care of, wandering the streets of London without any obligations but pretty jet lagged and craving a pint! Cue: The Anchor Bankside—our lighthouse! It was the first pub of the trip, and boy did it hit the spot! The food was absolute bliss—delicious British dishes that had us questioning our life choices (seriously - we did NOT want to leave). The cozy vibe inside felt like a warm hug, perfect for the cold, rainy weather outside. And then there was Ethan, our server with the charm of a stand-up comic! He was so friendly, welcoming and fun to talk to! He definately charmed and took care of these two burnt out American mom! :-) haha Can’t wait to come back, especially for outdoor seating when it’s warmer. If you’re in London, check this place out—your taste buds will thank you, and you might just meet your new best friend, Ethan!

We popped into the Anchor Bankside for lunch whilst walking down South Bank as it was a lot more reasonably priced than the other pubs we passed. We had 3 main meals off of the specials board & we all said how good they were. Our 2 kids both enjoyed their kids meals too. The pub was very busy & we were pre warned of a 40 minute wait for food which was fine. There was a good choice of real ale & we found the staff friendly & approachable. We will definitely be returning!

A mixed experience on our trip here for lunch for a small family birthday lunch. The good - We'd booked ahead and as such were given a lovely table with a view of the river where my wife got the perfect view of St Pauls. 2 staff members were great, the first walking us through the maze of the pub/restaurant to our table was chatty, friendly and helpful and lovely to our son. The second was our main waitress who was friendly and pleasant to deal with. The pub is an astounding place with the most elaborate nooks and crannies and history seeping from its walls (apparently we were sitting where Samuel Peeps watched London burn during the great fire, he couldn't have grabbed a bucked and gone out to help?) The location is right by borough Market and the Thames, you couldn't ask for better. The bad - We went for my sons birthday and the meal he specifically wanted they didn't have. They also didn't have a side dish we wanted either. Shame. The food was a tad over priced, specifically the cost of the "Festive burger" which was good but not good enough to warrant a twenty pounds price tag. Some of the staff were pretty useless. Those that gave us our food left never to return and never offered accompanying sauces or anything which should be the norm. Midway through the main course a staff member came up with my sons ice cream desert and seemed very confused that we didn't want to take it at that point. Flabbergasted by that to be honest. I can only presume and hope it was seasonal staff who as such didn't know what they were doing. The Ugly - 2 toilets where blocked. 1 in the ladies (so I'm told) which as such made the ladies que out of the door and down the corridor. And 1 was blocked in the gents for over an hour with no sign put up to announce it only for it to get higher and higher to overflowing. I noticed the toilet cleaning rotor by the door was not filled in. It was pretty gross. Overall it was middling, shame as the location and building where incredible and a couple of the staff were lovely.

Die Bestellung an der Theke hat zwar gut funktioniert, aber wir haben über eine Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet. Der Service ist angesichts der Menge an Leuten überfordert und erscheint hilflos. Die Musik ist laut und auf Dauer nervig.

We had the most awful experience here on christmas day 2024 booked for 2.30pm at 3.58pm dinner still hadn't arrived the staff was uncooperative and avoiding any communication until we got up from the table to find assistance to be told they are to busy. We have used many different greeneking pubs and restaurants around the UK and never experience this lack of unprofessional customer service. Christmas was completely ruined as we was unable to remain to complete our christmas.

Booked in advance for Sunday Lunch with friends. Booked the 'Dining Room Experience with table service. Arrived at pub and initially the ground floor bar was all good, full of character and with a good choice of beer, hence the 2 stars but service and welcome far from warm. After a drink we went upstairs to the Dining Room. No welcome, no staff visible just a bare table with my name on it. I went to find an upstairs bar and queued up before speaking to the barman to say we arrived. Confused response, basically okay, order food and drinks at the bar when you're ready. "What about the table service? We're in the Dining Room?" "Oh we don't do that, come to the bar" We ordered at the bar but much smaller selection of beer and they ran out of Best Bitter and never replaced the barrel. We waited in the Dinining Room, and waited, it was nearly an hour before any food, 4 Sunday roasts, arrived but we had no cutlery. We again sat waiting for cutlery whilst the food went cold, then only 3 forks were produced for 4 of us. Another wait. The condiments we asked for, ketchup, mustard and horseradish never did arrive. The food? Just 4 items on the plate; meat, roast potatoes, cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding. Bland and boring. I chose The Anchor on the basis of a great review from an online blogger. Well, I'm not a paid blogger, just a bloke that wanted a nice Sunday Lunch with friends. This wasn't it. There are likely hundreds of better places for Sunday Lunch in London but wherever you choose Dont go to The Anchor Southwark.

I met friends yesterday for a Sunday roast which promised on the menu cauliflower cheese as part of the meal. When it arrived with one tiny little floret of cauliflower and a dab of cheese sauce, I mentioned it to the waiter. My friend had the same dish and on her plate she had the size of portion you would expect. Someone else then came to my table to tell me that the portions were standard, however I could see that they are not. On the whole I enjoyed the meal, but didn't enjoy the manner of the waiter. Poor service.

Bellissimo pub sulla riva del Tamigi nella zona del London Bridge e del Borough Market. L’esterno è davvero bello, l’interno ti fa fare un tuffo nel passato ed è tipicamente inglese. Ci siamo fermati per pranzo e nonostante fosse pieno (è anche molto grande) il servizio è stato molto rapido. Unica cosa bisogna andare ad ordinare al bancone e pagare in anticipo (ci abbiamo messo un po’ a capirlo perché c’era solo una piccola indicazione sul muro ma era coperta da altri avventori seduti, magari si potrebbe segnalarlo sul tavolo o sui menu per chi non è molto pratico!) Abbiamo provato il classico fish and chips e dai piatti del giorno abbiamo scelto una pie tradizionale ma arricchita con formaggio raclette, in più come antipasto delle polpettine di pulled beef. Piatti abbondanti e molto gustosi. L’acqua è gratuita e ci si può servire direttamente da una macchinetta posizionata nella sala. Il conto è stato di 58 sterline, in linea coi prezzi londinesi, giusto in rapporto alla bontà e all’abbondanza dei piatti. Sicuramente una tappa consigliata!

Abbiamo cenato in questo locale qualche giorno fa , locale carinissimo e situato in maniera fantastica lungo Tower bridge , ma qualitativamente niente di eccelso , fish and chips inferiore rispetto a molti pub meno famosi della zona , ripeto posto bello ma cibo per niente eccelso

Great location in London. We had a steak and ale pie. Great selection of beer. The bar staff didn't know how to make a negroni which was disappointing by otherwise they were polite and helpful which is a change from what else we experienced in London.

Pessima esperienza: furto e comportamento inaccettabile/derisi dallo staff!!! Con la mia famiglia abbiamo deciso di trascorrere la serata dell 22 agosto in questo pub, ma abbiamo avuto una pessima esperienza. Durante la nostra cena, siamo stati derubati del nostro marsupio che conteneva i nostri passaporti, carte di credito e medicinali salvavita. Era una serata tranquilla e, mentre ero fuori per prendere dell'acqua per mia figlia, ho scoperto che il marsupio era scomparso. Ho subito dato l'allerta e realizzato che l'unica persona ad essere intorno al nostro tavolo era il cameriere. Abbiamo notato che una telecamera era posizionata proprio di fronte al nostro tavolo e poteva aver ripreso l'incidente. Tuttavia, quando ho chiesto di visionare il video, mi è stato negato e il personale sembrava infastidito e non interessato a risolvere la situazione. E dopo insistenza mi e' stato detto che la CCTV camera era stata visionata (nel giro di 3min) e che non copriva l'area del tavolo dove eravamo seduti seppure posizionata direttamente al di sopra del tavolo!!! Ho chiamato la polizia e atteso fino alla chiusura del pub, ma non sono mai arrivati sul luogo in tempo e quindi mi sono direttamente recato alla piu vicina staziobe per completare la denunicia. Il cameriere e' scomparso e abbiamo ricevuto una notifica per l'uso fraudolento della nostra carta di credito, che abbiamo bloccato immediatamente. Il video della CCTV, che avrebbe potuto chiarire tutto, non ci e' stato mai mostrato. Invece di ricevere assistenza, siamo stati trattati con indifferenza tra sghignazzi vari!!! Un comportamente indecente. C'e una formale denuncia in atto ed ho inviato una richiesta separata al Management dell'ANCHOR per visionare il footage e attendo una risposta. Nel frattempo invito i turisti che ceneranno in questo pub ad essere particolarmente ATTENTI !!! Antonio

The place was cold. Obviously no heating on. Food arrived. The gravy that was with the dish was cold. We had to find a member of staff to inform of this. After 10 minutes waiting the gravy had still not come out to us.. meaning the food was almost eaten by then. We had a side order of chips with the other meal; i could not believe for £3.25 we received 7 cold chips. Terrible food. Bad service. & a extremely cold pub.

We had our wedding celebration here and had the best time. Everything was seamless and the private dining space was perfect. We loved that they decorated the table with candles too. Afterwards we had drinks for 40 of our friends and we had such a great time. Thank you to the staff and special thanks to Gabriella, Juan and Alex for everything.

Shouldn't have bothered as it started off badly. Busy Sunday afternoon but only bottom floor bar was open with very few staff. Queue at bar was very long and slow moving and being on the top terrace we had to walk down 2 floors to get a drink. The food took ages to come and when it did I was missing my peppercorn sauce. I asked one of the waiters for my sauce but he gave me a vacant look and carried on cleaning tables. Don't think he spoke English. Waited a few more minutes and asked another waiter who eventually brought me my peppercorn sauce. Except it looked like someone else's leftover peppercorn sauce and was about as warm. Rubbish experience, will never go back.

Dropped in when walking along the south bank to have some pre dinner drinks, beautiful spot with a lovely view on the balcony.

Friendly and welcoming pub, food was great and good value. We felt like the staff really made us welcome, particularly Michael who went above and beyond. Would highly recommend stopping if you are in need of a beer or a bite to eat. No fuss, good fun.

First impressions are everything! The Anchor did not disappoint. My first visit to London. Ever. The Bride and I decided to walk along The Thames from the Borough Market towards St Paul’s and maybe to The Blackfriar. With over 3,000 pubs in London we reckoned we would visit a few during our trip. Luv’d this spot! Bellied up (as we say in America) to the bar for a pint of English bitter and the English equivalent of a Radler. The bartendress was nice enough to educate me that here they served a Shandy. So there. A shandy for my bride please. We dropped in simply to take-in the ambience of an English pub. The apple pie was a proper round-out. Overall a very pleasant experience. On our future holidays to Europe, a pit stop in London on our way home will serve a proper exclamation. Certainly a pub crawl will be the centerpiece. Thanks to The Anchor for a brilliant kickoff.

Mi novio quería el pastel de carne con cerveza, pero hoy no estaba disponible. En cambio, optó por el medio pollo (tampoco tenían rosbif disponible a pesar de que solo eran las 15:00). Ella describió al pollo como seco y deprimido, ¡claramente no es una recomendación!Fui por el pescado grande con patatas fritas, que había probado antes y me encantó; no esta vez. El pan estaba rancio, las patatas fritas cocinadas triples dejaban mucho que desear y el pescado tampoco era muy bueno; he tenido mejor pescado de la isla congelada de Sainsburys.Si no fuera por el servicio y las medidas de COVID, le daría una calificación de una o dos estrellas.Vendríamos aquí de nuevo, pero solo porque nuestras visitas pasadas han sido muy agradables y positivas.

Vinimos a comer y nos sentimos muy decepcionados. Antes de covid la comida era excelente, no estoy seguro de cómo covid tiene la capacidad de afectar el estándar de la comida. Nuestra comida era a las 3 pm y ya tenía que tener mi tercera opción de comida ya que el pastel de bistec y cerveza se había acabado y también el rosbif. Esperaría esto más tarde en el día, pero no tan temprano. ¡Me decidí por el pollo que fue entregado seco y deprimente! Mi compañero tenía pescado y patatas fritas que comparó con el pescado congelado que puedes comprar y dijo que el congelado era mejor. Hemos sido visitantes frecuentes de este pub antes de covid y siempre nos ha encantado la comida, así que estamos muy decepcionados. El servicio fue brillante como siempre.

We popped in on our way to convent garden and so glad we did.. the breakfast was very good and staff really friendly & helpful. Thanks for making our youngest some chips too.

Lugar encantador y pintoresco, muchos rincones y recovecos. También tienen bar y zona de estar, con vistas al río Támesis y una terraza en la azotea. Nos recibieron tan pronto como ingresamos al edificio, el personal no pudo hacer más por usted. Comí allí 3 veces y tenía una gran comida cada vez. Bien merece una visita.
