Food was delightful and the drinks were so refreshing! The service was even better, Bea served us and was absolutely incredible - she gave us extensive details about the food, amazing recommendations and service with a smile!

First time in this place . Lovely main meal and dessert . Nice beer too ! Would definitely go back . 👍

A belated anniversary meal for me and my wife. Tried some new starters from the new spring menu which were fantastic, particularly the YAKINIKU chicken skewers😋😋. We both had rib eye steaks for mains which were cooked perfectly, and beautifully presented with proper chips, onions and mushrooms. All in all a lovely evening

We’ve been to The Anchor Inn this evening, despite a very busy restaurant due to the free mains offer, we were greeted by Kerry who looked after us throughout the meal. The food was excellent, the service was brilliant as usual. We both ordered the rib-eye (I’d advise an early table if you fancy the fillet steak as we just missed the boat - they were flying out due to the offer!) and our compliments go to the chef Dave. We’ll definitely be back!

I had the pleasure of spending a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Anchor Inn, what a lovely restaurant with a beautiful outdoor atmosphere. The restaurant inside is very homely and comfortable to sit and have a decent meal with friends and family. The staff are amazing and were very attentive throughout my visit. My dog was well looked after with water and love from the staff. I would personally like to say thank you to Amy, Kaytie and Bea for the wonderful service always going above and beyond for the guests.

Fantastic atmosphere, warm and cosy and suitable for dog walkers and their tired four legged friend to take a rest. Our servers, Kerry and Emily were superb and attentive. They checked on us regularly on the food that were served and if we had enough drinks. Compliments to the chefs, Luke and Johnny. The food was delicious and outstanding, the fish was very fresh. Great job. The place was very clean and tidy even the ladies toilets were clean, well stocked. Thanks for a lovely evening, we will be back.

The food and service were excellent. All of our courses were great, especially the scallops starter, which were beautifully seared. The wine that our waitress Rebecca recommended was a good choice. It was well priced and complimented out meals tremendously. Everything was just right, and I will be happy to recommend your restaurant.

If you are looking for well executed food abandon hope now. I had the misfortune to experience a Sunday lunch there today with my partner and a friend. The steak was mis named. Mediocre rather than medium and the pitiful amount of fries was nothing short of appalling. The shared roast platter, the chicken was barely a poussin Nevermind a roaster, dry tasteless and sparse. The belly pork was sloppy badly cooked and lacked any redeeming points. The beef was well executed I suppose, but cold and sparse the bread sauce…. Where do I begin? Wallpaper paste and a teaspoon each for 2. The front of house staff were friendly and attentive, except for the wine that didn’t appear as ordered but thankfully didn’t appear on the bill. For approaching £100.00 this was slightly less than pitiful

We have just enjoyed a nice meal at The Anchor Inn, however we're slightly perplexed by the "if you'd like to get a drink at the bar, we can organise a table" process??? There were a large number of tables available when we arrived, including the one we eventually say at. Furthermore we witnessed a couple arrive who were invited to do the same. They purchased a pint and glass of wine and 15 minutes later were seated at a table near to us that had been vacant for the whole time we had been there. In addition to this the table hadn't been "prepared" for this couple as the gentleman brushed food from the chair before his wife sat down. We can't help thinking this is simply a ploy to encourage customers to spend more.... Yes times are hard, but this does seem a little unkind.

This once highly-rated eatery was hugely disappointing. The main courses were OK but unremarkable and the drinks were over-priced. I often enjoy crispy squid as a starter, but here it was stodgy and unappetising. Another one off the list.

Friendly service and cosy atmosphere

Taking advantage of the “50% off Mains” deal we enjoyed a lovely family meal together . We had starters, main meals and puddings ! Everything was perfect ! Not a single crumb left on any of the plates. The service and attention to detail we received from Kerry and Amy was fantastic ! Also, credit is due to the chef Luke for the excellent quality of the food. Thank you to the whole team.

Visited today a Lovely restaurant inside the Anchor pub .Food was delicious we both really enjoyed 3 courses and the atmosphere is idyllic. The staff are so friendly and really attentive .

Food was delicious, well presented and we didn't have to wait a long time despite the restaurant being busy. Good options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Staff (Servers Kaylie and Lucy) went extra mile and asked kitchen (Dave and Nick) to write happy birthday on a pudding even though we didn't mention it was my mums birthday! Very sweet and appreciated, lovely food too.

Just had a beautiful meal with family. I can only say clean plates all round! I can not fault the food here. Never had a bad meal. I also think it is exceptional value. Would always recommend

A spontaneous decision to treat ourselves on this miserable day and we weren't disappointed. We only had mains and drinks this time and the meals were delicious. Kaytie ( I hope that is how I saw it spelt) was delightful and the food promptly served. The T-bone and rib-eye were perfect, the seabass well cooked with crispy skin. The vegan burger was good quality and tasty too.

As usual great food and friendly and efficient service. It was a lunchtime so quieter, but still a nice atmosphere. Everything clean. Will definitely be back! Thank you

Went for Christmas dinner. £120 per person so a lot of money. Section we were in not decorated for Christmas. No atmosphere at all, staff were dull and unengaging,, no one wished us a Merry Christmas, Christmas dinner veg was very hard (and I like it crunchy), nothing fancy, just boiled veg, rubbish stuffing, and what were probably frozen roast potatoes. Never again.

Lovely Christmas meal, prompt service, food as good as usual (no deterioration as sometimes happens at Christmas). Like the way tables arranged so groups have privacy and less noise interference from other groups.

Lovely cosy pub, great choice of drinks. Can highly recommend the seafood linguine with chorizo. Great service and staff.

The pork was tough and fatty. The chips soggy. Triple cooked chips? Is that so you can cook them hours before then cook them when ordered because it doesn't work. Horrible!

On a very difficult busy Christmas Eve when things can and will go wrong they coped admirably. Food was out in a slightly sporadic fashion but could easily be forgiven as it was delicious. Set Menu was very good and well worth it. Thanks all for a lovely Christmas Eve

Always excellent food, staff, decor and atmosphere. Do try The Anchor Inn if you have never been before. We enjoyed a fabulously good value Breakfast with Santa meal last Saturday. Staff are just so good. We will also be dining there on Boxing Day and are very much look8ng forward to it.

The service was great. We really enjoyed the food and the ambience.

It's a good restaurant with a lot of locals, and this is my third time coming to this restaurant. I had prawn dishes, steak, lamb, etc. and they were all very delicious. If you can afford it, it's delicious to add scallops and it's very soft. All the staff are friendly too. It's a bit far from Liverpool, but if you get the chance, be sure to visit. Thanks to Pete, Kerry, Nathan and Aaron for their kind guidance. Also, thank you to chefs Johnny, Callum and Luke for the delicious food.

The restaurant provided an ideal setting for a leisurely Sunday lunch, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that captured the festive spirit just before Christmas. Went for santa breakfast with two little ones . Was given one piece toast each ! Also no tea with adult breakfast which found unreal !! Also my cup tea came in bowl ! Other than that ok

I've been here quite a few times and if I fancy a quiet pint in Irby this is the place I would come. It looks small when you drive past but is actually a large pub and restaurant. There always seems to be seating available when we've called in and the seating is very comfortable. Service is always quick and staff are always attentive and helpful. They have a large garden which is nice for a drink outside in the Summer. Parking is fairly good as they have a large car park. Prices are slightly more expensive than other local pubs but you'll always pay a bit more for quality service and surroundings.

As someone who is new to the area and has extensive allergies, eating out is a bit of a nightmare for me. So finding somewhere like The Anchor who were incredibly accommodating, was very much appreciated. I found it to be a very warm, homely feeling old style style building. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly. Kerry, Amy & Dave looked after us for lunch today. Kerry was lovely. Every question I had about the food, or querying ingredients, it felt like it was no bother and everything was checked for me. Full credit to Dave the chef - as someone who mainly eats fish with plain accompaniments, it was possibly one of the nicest pieces of sea bass I have had in the UK. Crispy skin, flaky flesh - delicious. My friend had the chicken & cheese pie and said it was extremely tasty. Rarely do I get to enjoy a dessert anymore, but I was able to have the mini pud of fresh fruit with coconut sorbet. Again, small, lovely little portion and the sorbet was incredibly rich and creamy. Kerry once again was on the ball, and brought out the ingredients for me to check. Right up until I left the table, Kerry went above and beyond. My friend had the lemon tart. Lovely afternoon. Lovely setting. Fantastic service. Don't know when, but I'll be back. Thank you for this afternoon! Would recommend

Lovely food well presented and good wine selection

We were staying locally on a long weekend joint to see family and a show in Liverpool, We ate on Saturday evening and had a booking for Sunday lunch. On neither occasion did I feel we had value for money or a tasty, lovely meal on Saturday I had the slow cooked belly pork. I got the impression that this was reheated in a microwave to a "burn your lips" heat whereas the vegetable were lukewarm. The crackling was a rectangular piece of thin pork skin more like formica than proper crackling. Sunday lunch was roast beef, I thought the beef was passable but not great, the roast potatoes looked and tasted like they'd been saved from the previous Sunday and the yorkshire pudding wasn't an attractive piece of kit, but a brownish grey space ship which I suspect came from a catering pack. My overall impression was that the kitchen was not staffed by a proper chef by but by someone who had been taught the process of how to work a microwave and lay out the food to look like haut cuisine but they sadly didn't fool me. You don't have to be a food critic to know when you're being served home cooked food and when the food is done from kitchen suppliers. If you want decent home cooked food I'd look elsewhere. On a plus point the decoration and presentation of the pub and it's toilets were excellent but but food wise it's disappointing.

Sadly, the food didn't live up to the service or the decor. Definitely not one to visit again,unless burnt pastry, inedible roast potatoes, and tiny portion of vegetables is high on your gastro pub crawl list .
