Called in on Valentines day for lunch and could have not chosen a better place to eat. The service and friendliness met us at the door abd continued throughout. The staff could not do enough to make welcome, especially Helen who carried out the main service to the table. We had the set 3 course meal which was plenty for an afternoon meal. The chicken dippers fish and chips and apple and blackberry crumble was superb. We can not recommend enough.

Absolutely amazing service . Second time we've visited. And cannot fault . Helen and Linda were fab . Not just with us but every one around . They were so friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble . Excellent food as well . Value for money excellent presentation and so yummy !! Defo be back !! Great place 110 /10 .just fab !!

Absolutely fantastic service and food to match! As soon as we walked in through the door we were greeted and treated and made to feel special. Food was amazing couldn't fault anything Atmosphere was brilliant and the spacing between tables was great ,didn't feel confined at all 10/10 would recommend 👌

Lovely place. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was also really tasty. Being really dog friendly was also a plus as we stopped off for some food and drinks having walked the dog nearby. We will definitely be back.

Went here today with my daughter for some late lunch. Been a few times in the past and always made to feel very welcome. The service is second to none and the staff so very friendly and helpful. Food itself is also very good (I'm a chef so I know), very tasty, well seasoned and well presented. Good atmosphere and even though they were busy we didn't wait long for our food. Also price very good.

Outstanding meals and lovely staff. We were served by Georgia who was extremely efficient and helpful recommending the duck, which I had and it was delicious. The beef rib Bourgignon was too.

Very quiet on my last visit. Staff were very friendly and professional. Food was served very quickly and piping hot. Well doe to the team on shift.

Popped in for a quick drink and some food. Meal was served hot and fresh, however it arrived quickly. Fairly nice and quiet for the time, which was good to sit back and enjoy our meals. Wonderful service from the moment we entered, Josh was a lovely server and definitely visiting again soon.

Nice and cosy. Was a little bit crowded but with a warm atmosphere.Is a Historic Pub 🍻and hopefully will stay like that around. A good selection of food, with moderate prices.A good range of choices for alcohol I was pleased to find 0 alcohol 🍺 The food is very tasty 😋 delicious really and was served wery quick 😋 by friendly staff. Definitely i will come back and i recommend to others to stop for a visit.

We were well looked after by Holly and colleagues last night. We were a bit of a pain using a couple of voucher codes, but Holly beared with us and helpful throughout. Food and beer very nice.

Visited for a joint 60th celebration with friends. Had the award winning beef and ale pie and it was fab! The service was excellent too. Big thanks to Georgia and Holly for looking after us so well - they even surprised us with some celebration balloons on the table. Really nice touch and we’ll definitely return.

Had a wonderful time at the cottage loaf this saturday evening! Holly and Georgia were amazing and the food was impeccable. I loved the chicken schnitzel especially with that yummy bravas sauce. I’ll have to return for the steak thursday soon

Popped in for a quick lunch food was lovely staff were great can’t wait to come back Went back for another visit and it was great cant fault this place one bit Came again and it was fantastic we had the light bite menu which is a small portion menu it was great value for money

Unfortunately we will not be returning to the cottage loaf. We came for a set meal, but were left waiting over an hour for our starters (3 soups and 1 chicken strips which were smaller than my finger), then left to wait another 40 minutes for ‘small portion’ lunch mains. Due to the long wait, we could not wait any longer for the mains (having asked numerous times for an eta and already expressed our lack of time due to the delay), so we graciously went to pay for what we had consumed. We were still left with a charge of +£36 despite only having starters and a soft drink each. The staff, which we appreciated seemed busy, did nothing to ease our concerns nor offer anything due to our inconvenience. We were not the only table today to have grievances with the food and wait. Very disappointing.

Stopped for a drink with te dogs. The dog station is great and the best I've seen in a pub, well done.

Really sad to say we would not return here for food. We waited nearly an hour and a half for our starters to arrive: a very small bowl of watery tomato soup and a plate with 3 chicken strips the size of a little finger next to some shrivelled leaves. We waited another 40 mins, and our mains never arrived, by which point we were very hungry and fed up waiting. We then got stung with a £30+ bill for the 4 sad starters and 4 soft drinks. Whilst we appreciate they looked low on staff, they should not have taken on food orders if they did not have the capacity. The lighter lunch “mains” that arrived on the tables near to us were not even a child’s portion. Really disappointing as we used to really like this place.

Last went in Feb24 very disappointing. Thought we would try again 21/12/24 and we're so impressed we booked for my birthday 29/12/24..Atmosphere Decorations and service received were excellent on both occasions. Food was also amazing so much so I wanted to book for Xmas 25

Regularly visit here for the amazing pub quiz on a Wednesday night but booked a festive meal for the Christmas Quiz. Was a little apprehensive after a few issues last Christmas, but wow what a difference a new manager makes!!!! The staff were so organised and attentive from the second you walked in. And most importantly, how happy and jovial the staff all were!! (Such a change after last year!) James put us right at ease by confirming our meal orders we had pre-booked and attending to drinks. The food was very quick to arrive and in our party there were a variety of meals but we all thoroughly enjoyed both main and dessert courses. (The salmon and the gold chocolate cheesecake were especially delicious - my favourite Christmas meal in the past 7 years). It's so nice to see Linda and the team transform the cottage loaf back to the lovely country pub we are all used to. Huge thank you to James, Steve, Ashley and Helen for a wonderful Christmas celebration with family and other regulars!

Super friendly welcome, from what we could see was a very hard working staff. Well priced and tasty food. Great place to refuel after a visit to the country park and beach.

I went in on my own one late morning just to chill. I had a coffee and sat facing a window, with very few other customers. Delightful young man serving and who dealt with my order. Had a relaxed chat with him before sitting down, while admiring the decor and new look! Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a Wonderful Birthday Celebration in the Cottage Loaf on Christmas Eve. The Christmas decorations the festive warmth was just magical. You served 20 meals hot prompt delicious all with a smile. 😍🎅🥰 fabulous happy staff. Thank you all so very much

Attended an afternoon 70th birthday party this past Christmas Eve. Our party of 20 was well catered for at one beautifully decorated long table. We had preordered and our food was served all of us together and was both delicious and hot. No mean feat on an extremely busy day. There was a live singer so we had a dance which was great. Highly recommend for a party and though we didn't have exclusive use it was as good as. Thanks Linda and your team.

Lovely welcome, bustling pub but pretty average fayre and uninspiring choice of beers. I wouldn't rush back sadly, but I appreciated the landlady making a fuss of the kids.

What a great place! Visited the cottage loaf for our family Christmas dinner. 19 of us and the food and service from booking upto service was spot on. Food was lovely and the service even better. A beautiful pub in a beautiful location on Wirral. Booked for a works Christmas Lunch. We were a large party so there was a bit of a delay on the food but the food was lovely, the staff were friendly and approachable and we had a great time. Thank you!

My friends and I had a lovely lunch today. We chose from the light bite menu which was good value and delicious. Steve served us and he was very welcoming and good fun. Would highly recommend and we'd definitely go again. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

The Staff: very pleasant. We had the festive menu The roast potatoes were inedible, no one ate them as they were too hard. Apart from the brocoli the veg had been in the oven a long time. The desserts were fine. As the venue had got very busy by the time our meals were served, we did not think it wise to complain as we would have waited a long time for replacements.

I visited the Cottage Loaf with 2 friends yesterday and would like to say a huge thank you to you… the lovely christmas decorations all around/wonderful meal so very nicely presented and above all lovely helpful staff. A very happy christmas to you all!! X

We’ve not been to the cottage loaf for a couple of years but we went today on a whim as part of a family walk. We were only getting a quick bit of lunch so there about an hour and although all tables were reserved, Holly was brilliant and very kindly let us have a table.The service and the food were terrific, and we didn’t feel rushed.

I booked a table for sunday lunch and really enjoyed the food. I got a trio of roasts and it was super tasty. It was a big portion and i particularly loved how fluffy the yorkies were. I couldn’t resist coming back again and it was so worth it, the maple roasted carrots and the parsnips were so tasty! another update we came back again cause it’s just that good here. food was amazing 😀

If you haven't been in a while and are thinking about it then I would highly recommend. Best service we have had in a pub restaurant for a while, staff seem to genuinely care and want to ensure you enjoy your experience. The decor is devine - cosy country pub. Food hot, tasty and well priced. My only quibble is that there was no option to tip on paying by card and we had no cash. 5* highly recommend.
