Cottage Loaf in Wirral

Visited for a joint 60th celebration with friends. Had the award winning beef and ale pie and it was fab! The service was excellent too. Big thanks to Georgia and Holly for looking after us so well - they even surprised us with some celebration balloons on the table. Really nice touch and we’ll definitely return.

Had a wonderful time at the cottage loaf this saturday evening! Holly and Georgia were amazing and the food was impeccable. I loved the chicken schnitzel especially with that yummy bravas sauce. I’ll have to return for the steak thursday soon

Popped in for a quick lunch food was lovely staff were great can’t wait to come back Went back for another visit and it was great cant fault this place one bit Came again and it was fantastic we had the light bite menu which is a small portion menu it was great value for money

Really sad to say we would not return here for food. We waited nearly an hour and a half for our starters to arrive: a very small bowl of watery tomato soup and a plate with 3 chicken strips the size of a little finger next to some shrivelled leaves. We waited another 40 mins, and our mains never arrived, by which point we were very hungry and fed up waiting. We then got stung with a £30+ bill for the 4 sad starters and 4 soft drinks. Whilst we appreciate they looked low on staff, they should not have taken on food orders if they did not have the capacity. The lighter lunch “mains” that arrived on the tables near to us were not even a child’s portion. Really disappointing as we used to really like this place.

Last went in Feb24 very disappointing. Thought we would try again 21/12/24 and we're so impressed we booked for my birthday 29/12/24..Atmosphere Decorations and service received were excellent on both occasions. Food was also amazing so much so I wanted to book for Xmas 25

Super friendly welcome, from what we could see was a very hard working staff. Well priced and tasty food. Great place to refuel after a visit to the country park and beach.

If you haven't been in a while and are thinking about it then I would highly recommend. Best service we have had in a pub restaurant for a while, staff seem to genuinely care and want to ensure you enjoy your experience. The decor is devine - cosy country pub. Food hot, tasty and well priced. My only quibble is that there was no option to tip on paying by card and we had no cash. 5* highly recommend.

Lovely Pub! Friendly staff, food was fab the chicken katsu was delicious. We went as family of 4 with 2 little ones and they enjoyed their food too! We will definitely be back

Lovely location and atmosphere. Stopped by for lunch with a friend, food was great, decent value for money. We had halloumi and grilled peppers wrap and fish goujon ciabatta which was served promptly. Staff Ashley and Jorja were fab very friendly and helpful. Will stop by again when the weather is better! Had a great meal, excellent attentive staff, especially Terry who looked after us really well. Had eaten there earlier in the year that wasn’t so good but understand that there is a new manager there now and you can definitely see the difference, big improvement in the quality of the food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

Went for the first time yesterday, lovely staff, all 3 of us went for Sunday roast, 2 off us sirloin beef one had mix, yes the Yorkshire puddings where burnt but I could live with that, the beef was dreadful, nearly raw and full of fat , I told her I could not eat that, I like it medium rare but this is raw, the waitress said our chef likes it this way and I said I do not, she brought it back 2 more times, the 2 nd time I did not say anything but I guess she noticed it and took it away again , I told her not your fault but I can not eat this meat ! my son did not eat it either . such a shame as my friend took us out to celebrate, worst meat i have ever eaten .

Super first visit to the Cottage Loaf. Good food but the biggest shout out must go to Helen who treated us with great warmth and thoughtfulness throughout our stay. We’d arrived with our 6 month old lad, and Helen did all she could to make us feel at home. Five stars for Helen!

Holly and the team are fabulous so attentive and friendly. The Sunday roast was lovely and plenty of it. Delicious deserts too.

We stopped for a cup of tea and there was a cake sale for Macmillan. Lovely brew and the cakes were great too. Seems like a very pleasant pub

10 of us had family lunch here today ranging from 5 to 75 years few different choices of meals but Everyone of us were delighted with our meals Highly recommend it Service great Food piping hot delicious will be back xx

Just had the best lunch at the Cottage Loaf There was 10 of us ,we were told in advance there was a few big party's in before us so may be a bit of a wait but actually all our meals came out very quick and all together which is great when there are quite a few of you. The food was so lovely we had mixture of roasts the selected pies and the gammon all delicious and the desserts were so yummy Linda who is in charge was amazing such a lovely welcome and the whole way through our meal was so lovely with us all, Helen the lady on the bar was great had a good giggle with her but all the staff were so good today with everyone. After a long walk was lovely calling in there for lovely food and atmosphere Will be calling in again very soon Highly recommend especially for larger parties.

Had a great time yesterday, mainly because the staff were so friendly and generous. It was my wife's 40th, and I'd briefly mentioned it on the "special occasions" part of the booking link. We went for a walk at the nearby Thor's Rock with our 3 young kids, then arrived. There was a table in the window, Happy Birthday bunting, balloons, table mats. But it was the kindness of the staff that shone out. They spent time with my kids, having fun blowing up balloons with them, chatted with my wife about how difficult raising 3 kids at that age is, generally really attentive and kind. We were blown away by the service. I highly recommend.

Booked for the meal deal,went for the normal menu, not disappointed ,the mini pudding (Eton mess, with a coffee) was superb.

Great place to stop off for a quick afternoon bite. Loved it.

We had a lovely meal, friendly atmosphere, we ate tomato soup and hallumi fries as a starter and I had a BBQ burger as a main, all tasted lovely, soup was fantastic temperature, burger was perfect, our servers Ashley and James where polite and professional, will go again!

I popped into the cottage loaf today after a dog walk for a brew and was met with a cheery “how are you today?!” By our lovely hostess, Helen. I am ever so thankful for Helen and Josh’s service this afternoon, serving up the most mouth watering meat, dripping in cheese.. but most of all I am grateful to them for keeping my date occupied because without them, I would have had to talk to him. Believe me, if you’d have seen how this guy turned up to this well known, popular establishment.. you’d know what I mean. Anywho… food was ace and I’m still single. Thanks Helen and Josh.

We were met as we walked in by Helen. She was so polite and beautiful and made us feel at home immediately. We had only popped in for a coffee but because of her wonderful hospitality we decided to have lunch. The service and quality of the food was great. We were looked after by Helen and Josh who were mesmerising to watch in their happy and comfortable work place.

Great pub. Stayed over in our motorhome in the car park. Food was lovely, service excellent and staff very friendly. Helen, Georgia & James thank you for making us so welcome! Nice beer garden and large car park, don't forget to enter your reg plate though! Good location for the Wirral country park for walking or cycling also close to the beach. We will definitely be returning.. 😊

Sunday at The Cottage Loaf was a great experience, everything went smoothly. The food was piping hot to the last mouthful. I was spoken to by four members of staff, including the manager, and each was polite, helpful and welcoming. The place was well-used, by Covid standards, but we had no problem getting a table. Sunday lunch again, 22-9-2024. Six family members met here and once again the staff were outstanding from the welcome at the door to our leaving. Helen, Ashley and James were friendly, talkative and extremely helpful throughout. We all agreed that the food was entirely excellent and, speaking personally, the lamb shank was the best roast dinner I have had. Thank you.

My husband and I had been here a couple of times after our walk in west kirby. We had sat outside and had a glass of wine and some paté. Seems a nice place so my friend and I went last night for an evening meal. We were told on arrival of a few things that were not on the menu due to a menu change the following day...We both ordered Asian chicken ( I think it was called ). The waiter came back and said the last portion had gone out, I then ordered the seabass and was told this wasn't available . My friend ordered lamb shank, there was no chips or mash, only fries available. I settled on sirloin steak, medium rare...The steak came and was an awful cut, it was very sinewy all the way through. The waiter was very attentive and asked would I like it changed, He said would I like him to bring the steak through on another plate, I said no I'd like you to take my plate please which he did..He came back and said it would be 5 minutes... The meal arrived and the steak looked a bit burnt, I cut into it and it was as dry as a bone. I cut through the middle and it was definitely not medium rare as I'd ordered. Very disappointed 😞. The waiter returned with the sauce and I told him I couldn't eat it, he offered me another steak but by this time my friend had finished her meal so I refused. He apologised and said he would take the meal off the bill...We then had a dessert, a crumble it was with custard, this was okay, it was a bit stodgy and not crumbly...The waiter asked how our dessert was and I said okay, he said okay ? that's what we aim for...He made light of our evening and was quite funny to be honest... There was a quiz on and a gentleman said he'd returned his steak twice as well... Overall food not so good, service was good and atmosphere okay.. I would probably still return for my glass of wine and paté...

Love this place, doesn't matter if it's a summer beer garden day a meal out or just a quick pint after our dog walks they are always welcoming to us and the dogs. Lovely staff Helen was our server today ☺️ and always a pleasure to visit.

Lovely sunday roast dinner served by friendly & polite staff, reasonably priced, Recommended.

It was a reasonably busy Friday afternoon. Waited a while for all our food to arrive and ro be honest it was all average. The food all seemed a bit dry like it had been under a headlamp too long. It was edible but I won't be going back.

Staying in Bebington for a week visiting my grandad found this place was dog friendly...great food, excellent service and a cute section for dogs they supply "doggy beer " actually Water and , bowls blankets etc helpful and friendly staff highly recommend will be visiting again next time I'm in the area

Went for lunch with my partner, the service was amazing, all the staff made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was served quickly and arrived hot. The bar staff made the drinks very promptly and the mixers were fruity and fun.

Food is of a very poor standard and overpriced for microwave meals. Chips were more like fat drenched crisps and when we poured the tea a dead fly was floating in it ! No apology from staff and no discount was offered or given. The place was empty ( we went at 12 noon ) so no excuse for lack of service or for such poor food. This was 10 months ago and I know for a fact that most food is from a microwave and according to several other reviews ( both more recent and previous to mine ) that there are major problems with both the food and the service ! No apology, no refund, no desire to actually fix your problems. Very sad.

Lunchtime meal. Food tasted nice enough, but just 'plonked' on the plate as I've seen children's meals presented.

My boyfriend and I came in for some drinks and it was lovely and chilled, we ended up having food because we saw it coming out and looked and smelt amazing and we weren't disappointed! Staff were very attentive and friendly and we spent the whole evening, we had a lovely time! Thank you everyone

Didn’t have food just had a drink. But just a terrible place to be. Reg input for car park is a pain. Took 10 mins to get a drink. We’re told we can sit wherever when we came in. Sat down for the drink, then got moved by the manager “in case someone wants to sit here for food”. We’re having one quick drink and it’s dead! We got moved to a tiny 2 seater table, there was 2 of us and also our 4 month old in a travel car seat (so 3 of us) so we were squashed. Bugs on the table, on the menu and flying round. Honestly just a pointless exercise to go here for a few drinks just go elsewhere. Total faff. Only wanted a relaxing drink with my wife (and baby!) but just a naff experience here. Would not bother going back.

Absolutely vile, cheese was off. Chicken was burnt and very dry. Kids pasta was very hard and chicken was dry also. Would never eat from here again. Expected much better quality for £50

My family and I walked along the beach in thurstaston and decided to see what the Cottage Loaf hype was about. The food was amazing the service was even better. It’s safe to say this establishment exceeded my expectations. Thanks to the team! We will certainly be seeing you soon.

Very nice pub, staff very friendly, polite and attentive. Sunday lunch was lovely too, 3 types of meat roast. Reasonably priced. Make sure you log your reg no if car if parking at reception to avoid penalty charges. Look forward to returning again soon.

Haven’t been to the cottage loaf for years but decided to pop back tonight. Great service from the staff, very friendly and professional Above green king standard, a bit pricy but can justify it. Clean menus, tables, etc Food was nice, desserts lovely etc. Really comfy and cozy atmosphere, I could have easily fell asleep after my food 😅 Very pleased & will be returning Just a note you do need To enter your parking reg when you’re inside, plenty of signs to remind you :)

Been there twice now for different occasions, accommodated 17 of us notva problem, pre ordered our food a few days before. All food came at the same time and plenty of it to. Nothing isn't a problem for the staff, who are all friendly and notjingbtoo much for them Will be returning.

Lovely pub by a busy road. Didn't eat there but the pints were decent and about average price for the area.
