Lovely pub food, but since June I've been charged from £3.50 to £3.95 on the same day for two cups of coffee. Recently charged £4.75! If someone could explain why??

Stopped for lunch with a group of friends on a cycling trip. It was great. Everything we could have wanted: lovely beer garden, good and varied menu, pleasant staff and most of all, possibly the best chips I have ever eaten!

This was our fourth Christmas lunch here , pre-booked and pre-ordered Staff couldn't do enough Fantastic choice from an interesting menu ...traditional with some twists, veggies catered for Everyone needed a doggy bag Looking forward to next year

We would like to thank Michelle and all the staff for a lovely meal and very friendly experience. After a not so good experience last year. We decided to try again. After hearing about other people’s meals, we wanted to try again. And we weren’t let down. The beef dinner was amazing. Everything seemed fresh and cooked very well. Also thank you to Michelle for keeping her promise. We will be back again and regular. As we have tried other places and none came up to the experience we had today. Never been but will definitely be back, the food is lovely, and I am so fussy. Staff are attentive and polite, and can’t do enough. I had the homemade steak pudding, it was delicious. Food was red hot too. Would recommend.

We had a lovely mid-week meal at the Alston, taking advantage of the Thursday 2 for £25 deal. Fantastic value, the food was excellent, fresh, hot and delicious. So glad they have changed to home cooked chips since our last visit, which are a game changer in my opinion. Staff we super pleasant and attentive. Will be back soon, thank you!

Last minute decision to eat out. Well, we were not dissapoibtes. What a delicious meal for us both. My husband had the steak pudding with very tasty home made chips and peas. I had sausage mash with onion gravy. We could not fault the food or service. Some great offers on too. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank-you, The Browne family.

We visited The Alston on New Years day with all the family , it was very busy but the lady's waiting on handled everything with no problems , all the meals we had were excellent as was the service , thanks to all working on New Years day you did a great job thanks.

Came for lunch with a friend. Lovely lunch I had chicken Kiev followed by sticky toffee pudding. The staff are lovely. Nice views outside too. Good car park. I’ll definitely come again.

I've never had a bad meal at The Alston. The staff are always warm and attentive and quick to react to any requests big or small. They are very good with our young son and even rocked the pram whilst we were eating which was above and beyond. The food is always very nice with lots of choice and even some specials. The menus are constantly being updated which gives good variety. The drinks choices are very good with plenty of ales, ciders, wines and spirits.

I came in to the Alston and they had a new menu on which did not disappoint The food was delicious along with the amazing land lady Michelle and great staff Emma, Shannon, Vick which provided a very pleasant afternoon with friends The wainwright is a beautiful pint with a variety of wines too choose from aswel as Gins and whiskey The ambiance with the real log fire adds a lovely touch and highly recommended a visit here 10/10! I’ll be back - like Arnold said ! Don’t miss out!

Once again the best Sunday lunch. We have been to many places far more expensive but nothing comes to this standard. Really good quality food for reasonable prices . Just over 11 pound for an amazing Sunday lunch is unbelievable. You can opt for a bigger lunch but the standard is plenty. Friendly polite staff we will come back here ever time

The first thing we noticed on being shown to our table was the carpet.It was not just dirty but filthy. The chairs had also seen better days. However on a positive note ,the staff were polite & asked if our food was ok during our starter & main meal. The food was average. I had a steak pudding which was nice enough but a bit small,although that was reflected in the price.My partner enjoyed her steak & reported it as being nice & tender. My sticky toffee pudding however was edible but was not as rich or as enjoyable as many others i have had & i thought it was overpriced

After coming quite regularly. We decided to book a table for Sunday. We were excited to have a good Sunday roast. As we usually have. Unfortunately we were let down. The portion size has been reduced. The vegetables were hard and shrivelled, like they had been kept warm all day. One slice of beef, when usually we had two. The dinners were at best warm. Not like it was busy. Only a few tables in so hoped we would get a good meal, as usual. Not this time. Staff were fine, food let you down. Currently hunting for a new venue.

Popular corner pub which has had several changes of management over the last few years. It is three years since I've visited, and they have tried to upgrade the dining area, but it is still noisy from the adjacent bar area. (darts night) Friendly young staff. A good selection of ales. Standard pub menu. The food was well presented and of good quality.

First time visiting this establishment. Not many customers in, but we didn't mind. Music playing in background but not too loud. Delicious food with plenty of choices on the menu. Good sized portions. Compliments to the chef - we both REALLY enjoyed our meals. Definitely come again with additional family members. P.S. deserts are scrumptious too 😋

Very poor. Me and my Family came for a birthday lunch and the food portions were terrible I had a fish and chips and the fish was tiny and I was given 13 tiny chips no peas. Overly priced for the size of the meals. We won't be coming back again.

I can’t recommend them more highly. The warm welcome we got when arranging a wake for early in the morning and the peace of mind we got from being told that nothing was too much trouble. They would do whatever we wanted and if more people turned up (because who knows how many will turn up at a wake), they would bring more food out. Excellent continental breakfast buffet made to our requirements to include all dietary needs and also bacon buns for the meat eaters. .

Wow what can i say .travelled to this place for months for food. Always brilliant but today was wow what can i say the chaser salad was the best........lovey food and best staff Get yourselves there .

Booked in for a meal, choosing the festive menu, we both had soup and the turkey with all the trimmings. The portions were very good with plenty of delicious gravy. The turkey dinner will certainly take some beating, it was excellent!

Dropped in for a meal after a visit to the cinema and received a warm welcome from Michelle. Our steak and ale suet pudding and cheese and onion pies with tasty chips were delicious. It was nice that the chef came to our table to ask if we had enjoyed our meals and throughout the service from the staff was lovely. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Had Lunch with husband and daughter - the pub was lively - a local football match was nextdoor and the bar was full of locals - this just made the atmosphere friendly - really welcoming. The service was very good and the food delicious - would highly recommend.

Been to the Alston a few times as it's one of our locals.The staff are lovely and extremely friendly. Very welcoming and attentive.The food is fabulous. The large burger is stacked with meat and full of flavour. My wife normally gets the chicken Kiev and it's really well cooked and full of buttery garlic goodness.Great place to meet for a drink and have something extremely tasty to eat!!

I live just around the corner so I'm a semi-regular here. Always get a friendly reception. The food is basic pub fare with a few specials thrown in. Today we had fish and chips - excellent as Alex was cheffing. Good value lunch as always.

My wife and I plus some other friends recently had dinner here. The food was good once it arrived but the service was dreadful. We had to wait almost 30 minutes before anyone came to take our drinks order and then another long wait before someone came to take the food order. We had to prompt for service on each occasion. Understandable if the pub was full but it was far from it.

DO NOT Visit here unless you like excellent service and food. :)

We live very near to the Alston and it’s without a doubt a great place to eat and drink, the staff are so friendly, the food is fantastic, we go regularly with friends and we have never had a bad meal, there’s plenty of choice and their roast dinners are brilliant! Highly recommend this place!

I have eaten here for the last 3 Sunday’s. And now they do meerkat and taste card. Which is brilliant when you have teenagers.. the Roast Beef is so tasty. Good food good atmosphere friendly staff.

Website states open 7 days a week. Called Tuesday 15 October at lunchtime, but unfortunately the place was shut. I would suggest you check in advance if, like us, you are travelling several miles for a lunch. Fortunately found another establishment just up the road.

Visited for lunch with my sisters at the weekend and we were not disappointed. I recommended the posh fish finger sandwich so three of us had these and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. The fish was so fresh and tasted beautiful. All four of us had the cauliflower and Lancashire cheese soup to start - wow! it was deliciously creamy and full of flavour. All this plus tea and coffee for £15 each was excellent value. Can't wait for my sister to move into her new home nearby, will definitely be paying a lot more visits!

Called in for Sat dinner was met with friendly helpful staff who even tho had no booking still managed to find us a table the beer was great the food was spot on we had specials the portion are plentyful and came in at a reasonable price give this place a try u will not be disappointed

Visited on Bank Holiday lunchtime. The 'posh' fish finger sandwich was excellent, great value for money. Lovely clean pub and very pleasant staff but one negative is that noisy toddlers were allowed to run around freely. We were going to come again on a Friday evening but noticed on the board that is states children eat free after 6pm on Friday so I think we will give this a miss thank you.

Monday’s offer is 2 for 1 on starters or nibbles, As I have a small appetite I ordered the prawn cocktail and the crumble of the day, my son has the chicken strips and chicken burger. Both were very tasty and good portion sizes, a little disappointed when we paid our bill to be informed we couldn’t have the offer as we only ordered 1 main.

Went here yesterday for dinner ordered steak friend ordered steak and ale pudding which I have never saw before as I am down from Scotland for a break . Both meals were good not one piece of fat on my steak tried the steak and ale pudding which was also good but still strange to me as this is not served in Scotland . The chips were also very good. The staff kept asking if the meals were good , staff also cheerful . Will be back to sample more .

Went today for lunch, third tim in 3 months and its always not good. I first went a few years ago and it was perfect then, but now it seems to have gone downhill. I had the steak which tasted like something out of a supermarket freezer, the pepper sauce was 'floury' either the flour hadn't been cooked off or it was from a packet, the chips were so flavourless i suspect they are the cheap frozen kind judging by the that have never seen a real potato. All in all a very disappointing experience. Having said that, the staff were very good and efficient. The worst bit is, it cost £93 for 3 people, 3 starters, 3 mains and 1 pudding and a burger takeaway! I also go to north cote a few times a year and get a 3 course lunch for 3 people, including coffee. Canapes and never ending bread baskets, served by first class trained waiting staff, cooked in a michelin star kitchen with organically grown food from there own gardens for less than £75. I thought that was expensive yet very worth it.

I’ve been to this place many times over the years and since Alec bought it it’s the best it’s ever been. Staff are brilliant, food is excellent, portions ginormous, but Alec, what’s gone wrong with the chips? Used to get the best chips ever at the Alston, the last few times they’ve been tasteless, even with salt they are tasteless. Please go back to chips how they used to be.

Having watched Fleetwood in the Cricket at Longridge we tried the Alston having seen the decent reviews on TA, smart looking place, pleasant staff and with the weather being ☀️ nice we took to the beer garden. I had a Cambodian Style Street Curry with King Prawns and was not disappointed, the boss had Fish & Chips and was equally as pleased.

Good lunch but we felt the lunchtime menu was a bit limited in choice as we only wanted something light. We both opted for wraps and shared........really good except the bacon was a bit thick and tough, chips a bit mediocre.

I came here with my friend for tea on Tuesday night. The young waitress behind the bar was absolutely lovely and her service skills were excellent. Very impressed by the moment we walked in as we were acknowledged straight away. We ordered the 2 steak deal and it came in good time, both of us thought very highly of the food which was high quality and excellent. Great atmosphere would definitely return and also recommend to others.

On our arrival we were greeted by the welcoming manager Kelvin. We then enjoyed a couple of beverages in the beer garden (dog friendly). The Heineken was ice cold and served in a chilled glass, a rare site in pubs! We were then taken to our table and given plenty of time to browse the menu. When we questioned the manager about some of the menu items he clearly knew his menu! We were then served by a lovely waitress who introduced herself ‘young Alex?’ I think. We all had different meals yet the manager made the effort to remember who had ordered each dish! (Nice touch!). Thank you to the Alston team, great food, great beer, great atmosphere! We will be back again soon!

Eaten here several times and the food can’t be faulted and at reasonable prices. The owner Alex is at making you feel welcome at home as well as the rest of the colleagues, service excellent go above and beyond even made me up a chilli mayo sauce and asked how spicy is like it.

After many disappointing visits to the Derby Arms, and after hearing this place had improved, we gave it another shot.

We called in after a long journey from the south coast staying in the area and they were very accommodating to cater for my Gluten Free diet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We decided to call in again on a busy Sunday service and again they were able to let us have a table and again cater for my diet. If we find ourselves in your area again we will certainly be back. Visited the Alston for my Mum’s 65th Birthday with the family (8 of us in total) on a Monday night so had the advantage of the 2 for 1 offer. Food was excellent, I had the king burger which is huge and takes some devouring! Great selection of food all at good prices, all locally sourced ingredients and home cooked. Good selection of beers and their own ‘Alston ale’ is superb.

Visited for lunch with friends today. Averagely busy. Always friendly reception. Drinks soon ordered but seemed a wait for food. All our choices were good. Ample portions and well presented. Ideal place for lunch. Prices reasonable.

We can't thank Michelle and her team enough. They were lovely! 10 adults and 11 children of various ages to cater for, plus one with allergies. Nothing was too much trouble. The sheer volume of work that goes into catering at this time of year is huge, and we appreciate everything they did for us! We would highly recommend it. Thank you all so much! xx

I have been taking my dad for a late lunch/early dinner each week, after visiting my mum in the residential home nearby.

Visit Friday 2nd November not impressed nice place quite busy order 4 lots of fish and chips .chips were un eatable hard funny taste shame really like this pub waiting time a long time so don’t go if in a rush waiting for puddings got fed up and when and paid don’t think they release we hadn’t are puddings to sum up chips shouldn’t be to difficult but waiter service could be better not sure I be back

Fantastic food generally. Nice setting, staff friendly, reasonably priced. Only disappointment was roast potatoes.

Booked table for four no problems the staff were attentive and we felt comfortable where we sat. The menu had lots of choice we had starter main and desert also bottle of prosecco and other drinks the price was amazingly low for what we had we found the food fresh no complaints with any of the food we ordered two Lancashire apple deserts but we got a chocolate tart with cinder toffee and local ice cream that we both finished without hesitation. Yes strongly recommended we will be back

We decided to visit this restaurant for our meal as the trip advisor comments were very good. On entering we were greeted by a lovely young lady who seated us and brought us our menu, then asked if she could get us a drink. Very nice. Our order was taken for meals and they were excellent. Great portion sizes and very attentive service. We enjoyed the whole visit and will return soon. Thank you and well done.

I have now visited this lovely atmospheric pub on 3 occasions (my girlfriend lives in the area) and the last time was yesterday, the 11th October. For me this pub/restaurant ticks all the boxes. Friendly welcome on arrival, great choice of food and themed nights. The staff are so helpful and friendly and I would happily recommend this establshment to anyone.

Went for Sunday lunch and we were a large party, (16) however we were seated in an "L," shape which meant we couldn't mix very well with each other. However, food was tasty, it just took a while for everyone to get their meals as they mixed up an order so one person was waiting after everyone else had their good, so that was a bit of a let down.

On a wet miserable day we were after a lunch without having to travel too far. We had heard good things about the Alston and were not disappointed! Wonderful homemade soup and a magnificent hot roast beef sandwich. Cannot wait to go back!
