Went and visited and a little man called Oliver was extremely rude and had a bad odour

Was for my granddaughters 21st birthday it was great

Really cool place staff were brilliant. Had a great time. Except. So Friday night playing music which was good but a little bit too loud had to shout to talk or couldn't hear. But was good place . Cool.

Been our local for years, pub food & lunchtime reasonably priced & plentiful. If uou like a "proper" pub & not a chain, this is the one for you. Been for their Sunday Carvery today. Not on every week but worth keeping an eye open for available dates. There is always something to keep you entertained going on. Kareoke, discos, quiz nights etc.

Great little hidden gem. Lovely beer garden. Food looked nice that others ordered.

Great pub and friendly staff at the Alma Pub , I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're in Sidcup!

I came to watch the football with a friend and we both purchased our own drink. We then sat down with our drinks and once we had finished we were told we couldn’t be in the pub without a drink with us. I was going to buy another drink later on in the evening, but we were told quite abruptly to leave. We were sat sensibly just wanting to enjoy the euro 2024 final and felt this was unfair, especially since there was not many people in the pub anyway and no one waiting to sit down with their drink.

They were so so so rude to us we went in for a friends birthday and they automatically assumed we were going to be horrible and straight away started acting off with us and just down right in professional ruined the vibe we had created defo would not recommend as a student AT ALL not to mention how expensive it was there it was £16.70 for 2 double runs and comes ridiculous DONT GO

Amazing 21st party for my Son at the Alma’s function room. Mat and his team were amazing from the planning start to the party finish. No request from me was too much. A big big thanks to Corrina and the team for the party night. They were all wonderful and made the party an evening/night to remember. All our guests complimented on the service that was provided and the fantastic venue you have! And above all service was given with a huge smile.

I attended a wake, drinks were expensive and the food was not good, 2 of my siblings seriously I'll afterwards.

We chose The Garden Room at The Alma to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. We were so pleased with everything on the day, from the delicious food to the attentive and professional service. We highly recommend this venue for such an occasion. Thank you to Mat and his team for making our day so memorable.

Popped into the Alma for a lunch time pint and had a nice pint of DoomBar. Friendly service and a good atmosphere. Really nice garden too to enjoy In the warm weather. Would highly recommend a visit.

If you have Never been to The Alma Pub Sidcup your missing out!! Remembrance Sunday - Nov 23 Monthly Roast Dinner Turkey, Beef, Pork, Stuffing, Cauliflower cheese, Parsnips, Carrots/Peas and of course Yorkshire pudding! And delicious homemade puddings part of the price! The pictures don’t do the food justice!

Went for a 80's Soul & Funk night. The DJ was playing some absolute gems. Really friendly pub and a great atmosphere.

What a fantastic pub! It’s so rare to find a traditional venue, taking good old fashioned cash with service that is next level! Vanessa is a breath of fresh air and the food is lush! I’m not local but I’ll be paying this place many more visits!

Was at a 40th birthday party...what a beautiful hall the decor is lovely ...great food...friendly staff...had travelled by train to get there...the station is round the corner so transport by train or bus is not an issue if drinking...would recommend this to anybody that lived this way...give it a try for party etc 😀

Cash only bar. Very little parking unless you walk 400 metres. But very friendly. They had a live singer and the function room is lovely

Lovely little pub, we had an event here and was great. Owners couldn't have been more helpful. The event room is amazing, lovely decor, and nice size. Beer gardens lovely.

I had my birthday party here at the beginning of September and I had THE BEST TIME! I hired the function room which is gorgeous. Barely needed decorating as its so beautiful, the staff couldnt have been anymore accomodating. So kind, friendly and helpful. I was able to order my own party food which The Alma were able to store until the evening. They have a resident DJ who is also very good. We had use of the garden for a while too which was lovely, understandably, this was closed later in the evening as it is a residential area (very respectful 👍) It is a cash bar only and there are cash points close by if needed. My experience here from start to finish was brilliant! Matt is so lovely and helpful and you can see they really look after their business. Thanks to everyone involved! Youre brilliant xxx

Compared to Tuesdays adventure in the rain to the Kings Arms and Burgerking in Bexleyheath.this is a much cheaper and better quality alternative.Guinness £4.60 a delicious steak baguette with mustard sauce £8.50, plenty more choice on the new menu from the new italian chef I really do recommend you try. FYG it is cash only bar though .

Didn't have food and therefore can't comment. Live entertainment available, meat raffles, over 25s only. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before. Friendly bar staff.

We went to Alma pub as it was a nice sunny Saturday 9th September and they have a lovely garden, which is very clean. The lady at the bar was very welcoming and told us that it was cash only and advised us where to get the cash which was very helpful and not an issue. We bought our drinks and whilst paying this bar man came up, no hello, just said abruptly’ you can’t wear a baseball cap in here, ‘ as if I knew the rules. ‘ it’s because in case of crime,’. I took it off and the lady at the bar apologised that she forgot to mention it. We went to sit outside and when this man came outside I asked if the rules were written somewhere so people like us who were new to this pub would be aware but he was very dismissive and abrupt saying’ I tell manager’ I’m sorry that as a black couple we felt this was to us targeted behaviour of which there are ways of putting your point across regarding policies but this man surely wasn’t very welcoming and we had our drink and left to go to another pub where we received warm welcome and stayed until closing time. Hopefully this behaviour doesn’t happen to anybody else of colour and judging people by their colour assuming that they are the crime culprits, that is wrong as we very professional people who just wanted to have a drink at your pub Please staff who work with public have to have some respect towards their customers or clients I believe but this behaviour was totally inappropriate

Had a lovely time at this pub, which is located a few minutes walk from the local train station. It was the vinyl 'soul/funk/motown etc' sessions, a lively crowd of dancers were having a great time. The bizarre thing (in a good way) was a private event also being held in the rear function room, you wouldn't have guessed it though, two lots of music, but you couldn't hear the private party. A nice exterior with a smart interior makes this pub very welcoming, the garden was great as well. This is a proper gem tucked away in a side road of Sidcup ... go try!

There was a nice atmosphere at The Alma and the staff were very friendly and they had a good selection of cask beer, and lager (if you're into that sort of thing 😁). Please note that the pub is cash only, no card payment at all but there are free cash machines within a 3 minute walk

Had a work Christmas do.... absolutely fantastic, food was plentiful and hot couldn't finish it all there was so much the bailey's pudding was to die for!! Staff could not of been more helpful and lovely and the price!! Omg was unbelievable... definitely going again 10* if I could put that

Wow what a great pub. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave Mat & Ronnie give you the warmest welcome. My husband and I went along for the Michael Buble evening and had the best time. So nice to see the pub busy too. People really need to support places like this and appreciate what they have as we have seen a lot near where we live closing recently which is a real shame. The Alma have it right, a friendly warm welcome, lovely surroundings and a great drink selection at great value prices. An example of a well managed and much loved business. Keep up the good work guys, we will definitely be back again, can’t wait to sit in your lovely garden in the summertime too.

Whilst we are all entitled to an opinion, I am at a bit of a loss to know what to say about the review given from CJ1915 about The Alma. I was in the pub that evening and have been using the pub for decades, without any issues at all. The Alma is one of the South Easts great locals and for many years in the 80's and 90's, we used it for the Crayford and Sidcup Bobsleigh team meetings after our training sessions around Crayford Dog track. Brenda's 'Hot Dogs' after training were always a great treat for us. As said, I was in the pub along with a friend and we too were asked to leave, very politely by a barmaid, which was no problem as the pub was albeit empty by that stage. I can only presume CJ1915 was on the nearby table, as I did hear him having a moan long before anyone was asked to leave. CJ, if you were the drunk one with the Shakin' Stevens barnet and the drainpipe strides, then why not give people a break before over reacting to what was a minor issues in the big scheme of things. The country is going through a cost of living crisis and we all have to play our part to help out. Manners are free and if you are too busy spending dough to stick more treacle on your nut, please understand that not everyone can afford to do that. My advice for you is to stick to the soda pops and stay off the hard stuff.

Great atmosphere and is more of post 30 year old pub .Great Summer Garden. Impressive lunchtime food but best to check ahead if offering weekday evening food.

A lovely little pub with friendly staff and customers, with a decent drinks selection and at reasonable prices. A shame they don't accept card payments, but that may be down to the charges.

We were a group of three 60+ gentlemen enjoying a nice Tuesday evening drink in a pleasant local Sidcup pub...........until at 9.30pm the landlady abruptly and rudely came to our table and informed us she was calling last orders. When asked why she bluntly replied, "there's only you 3 and 2 others over there, so it's not worth us staying open". I'm certain if we were regular faces this would not have happened and we were made to feel totally uncomfortable, unwelcome and embarrassed. I've been to this establishment several times over the years and never experienced such appalling treatment. I suggest phoning them first to see if they are busy before visiting......I for one will never be going to this pub again!!!

Had a lovely time in your function room /back bar came for a juiceplus event 😀 staff were mostly nice and kind and very helpful but sadly one wasn't when I asked if the door was locked at the end of the evening I got a very rude response hopefully they had a bad day and it was a one off. would come back

Visited this pub on a lovely afternoon to have a drink in the garden. My 4 year old grandson was with us and we were refused a drink due to their NO CHILDREN policy! Absolutely archaic!

The pub it self is clean and tidy and the Garden area is really beautiful and a lovely place to enjoy a warm sunny afternoon. Good choice of drinks available at reasonable prices HOWEVER…The service is somewhat questionable, one of the bar maids was very welcoming and seemed friendly but on more than one occasion I was shocked by the attitude and the abrupt manner of some of the bar staff, so much so that we chose leave after just a couple of hours and we had planned to spend the evening enjoying the lovely weather in a local beer garden.

Can't believe anyone is cash only in this day and age

Having seen some of the recent unwarranted poor reviews on here I felt I should even things up a bit. I live in Sidcup and this is the best pub in the area by far. It’s prices are good and I’ve always found both the staff and other customers friendly. Personally, as an adult whose children are now adults, I’m happy to drink in a child free pub. When my kids were young I went to family friends restaurants and pubs. Now I don’t need young kids around me. This isn’t being a child hater, I’m the opposite. Yes I do have Rob make sure I have cash but if it keeps the prices sensible that works for me. I use the pub once a week with male friends and when ever my wife and I fancy a quick drink. I won’t go into some pubs with my wife if it’s a bit rough, this is the opposite. Keep up the good work.

How nice it is to visit a pub that doesn’t allow children or barking dogs it’s a bit like being on an adult only holiday where you can relax and not worry about screaming children and yapping dogs. it’s a great haven to get away from everything and enjoy your pint

Went to the pub where they were rude on entrance and we asked for food which they told us they stopped serving food when they hadn’t as the bar tender showed us the menu on arrival. They didn’t like us from the get go for no reason. Cash only? No dogs, no pets. Lots of typed up Rules round the place. Very unwelcoming hosts. Lovely garden but not worth it due to the environment.

Avoid it to be honest. We’ve tried it twice and both times there was a reason to make life difficult for us. It seems to be one of those pubs that doesn’t want new custom… stuck in the 90s with cash only, no dogs, no children… yada yada. Shame as the garden is really nice! Went to the Black Horse instead which had so many more happy customers funnily enough!

Online it says children's play area in their garden. We walked down at 4 pm and was turned away - no children????? I was annoyed because it was hot , we had a baby who needed feeding and three girls looking forward to playing and enjoying some chips in the play area !!!???? Why does it say online kids are allowed ? It wasn't late either .

I visited this pub when I was viditing the area. Pub was ok. The only let fown for me there was no bitter or real ale. Only Lagers and IPA.

Went to alma for catch up with friends. Ordered sandwich which came with small salad and wotsits. I asked the barmaid who brought it over for crisps instead of wotsits and was rudely told 'we've run out of crisps' and walked away. I thought it was strange that a pub had 'run out' of crisps. To my astonishment she served a man approx 10 minutes later with a pint of lager and a bag of crisps. The pub was lovely but the barmaid was very sullen looking (never once smiled) and rude.

I recently used the Garden room for my retirement/birthday bash. Everything was perfect, the room itself, drinks, food, music and most of all the staff. Matt was amazing, listening to my requirements so patiently and so were the young lads behind the bar, nothing was to much trouble at all. I would thoroughly recommend The Alma for a celebration. Well done and thank you for helping make my special day so memorable.

We booked their party room for my granddaughter's gender reveal. I cannot praise Matt and all the staff enough. They were so welcoming and helpful. Nothing was to much for them. The buffet and decor was lovely. Thank you all so much for helping make this day so special

I had a great pint of St. Austell here today, after an absence of over two years. A proper local, with good service and a friendly, comfortable atmosphere.
