It beggars belief that places like this are allowed to continue to operate. It’s dated it’s unclean and just not somewhere that you’d want to spend money. We ordered drinks and sat in the garden only to be greeted by three kids under the age of four who were pretending to do poo poos next to us. The behaviour of these youngsters just about sums the place up.

It was easy to have overlooked this very run down exterior of a gem, once you get over the walk to the roof top garden you just want to stay all day, the garden is lovely with beautiful views over Looe beach and beyond. it would be great if someone could invest in this beauty, so sad to see it so run down.

Absolute terrific views from beer garden, building looks like it could use a bit of tlc but once you venture inside looks decieve the quality. Theres a great range of alcohol can't argue that even Jeremy Clarksons very own beer which was quite well priced my brother loved it. In terms of food no where to fault we ordered two fish and chips which was a really nice size, crispy batter one of the best in Looe. My wife had a jacket potato with prawns which she loved, would definitely return again. Overall customer service fantastic, food fantastic and an amazing range of alcohol!

During the couple of weeks we were holidaying in Looe we ended up visiting most of the local hostelries at one point of another, and in just about every case received a warm welcome with friendly and accommodating staff. But special mention must go to the Admiral Boscarn for service above and beyond. Don't be put off by the somewhat austere appearance of the building - venture inside and up the stairs to what must be the best Beer Garden in Looe, with views across the beach and to Looe Island beyond. They serve a perfect pint of Rattler too. My wife uses a Mobility scooter but was able to conquer the stairs using her walking stick. Her Mobility scooter? Well, the staff willingly and happily helped me carry it up and down the stairs for her, nothing was too much trouble. What service. Venture up to the Beer Garden on a sunny day - you will not be disappointed!

From the outside it looks like it could do with a good clean and updating, the inside is pretty much the same. We only went in for drinks which we had on the roof top bar which by the way is a great place to relax and has brilliant views overlooking the bay and is a real good sun trap. The beer was ok, no problems there and the staff were friendly, it's just in desperate need of some TLC.

Very old pub, looking tired and very dares which must only survive because of the location. Terrible service, ordered food and waited an hour, in the end gave up. Continued promises of ‘it’s ready’ when it wasn’t, clearly the staff and kitchen don’t have a clue or care, nobody addressed the problem. Thankfully got a refund - beach cafe next door was cheaper, for served in 5 mins and just as nice view - go there instead of this place. In fact, just avoid this place and go anywhere else.

The pub doesn't look like much from the outside and it's pretty beaten up inside too but carry on to the roof and there's a lovely roof garden with amazing views over the beach. Dogs are welcome and there's some shaded tables which are much appreciated. Food is basic pub fare, nothing special but perfectly edible. This could be an amazing place if it was spruced up a bit inside. Instead just head for the garden and enjoy the view with a cold drink.

The beer garden is a bit of a hidden gem. I'm sure most people don't know it's there due to the fact the building it sits on top of is so uninviting. The pub is nothing special and the nightclub on the top floor is a massive waste of a prime, beachside location. The venue's only saving grace is the beer garden, which isn't especially nice either, but it's outdoors, has a view of the beach and is in a good location. This place really needs some investment and a re-think, it's could be amazing given where it's situated.

Felt really disappointed with our food, 3 meals were ordered and two of which were served in these awful red plastic plates, the meals weren’t listed as ‘basket meals’ so to receive your food on these just didn’t look good or appealing. Been here several times now and love the place - it's unpretentious, friendly, reasonably priced and they make our dog feel so welcome! The star of the show here is most definitely Leandra - what an amazing, hard working & talented young lady. She kept us entertained with her patter and it's worth visiting just to see her smiling face and hear one of her hilarious stories! We may be biased as we discovered she comes from round the corner where we live haha, but she genuinely is a little gem and we will most definitely be back next time we are in Looe - thank you Leandra! x

We were recently in Looe for the weekend and visited this pub for a couple of drinks. The garden area was very busy so we sat at the breakfast bar area, a table became free so we moved as the lady was clearing the table, she hadn’t yet wiped the table but said she was coming back. After about 5 minutes we noticed an older gentleman cleaning other tables so asked if we could have a cloth to wipe our table to which he replied rather rudely that the table was already wiped despite the fact that there were food crumbs all over it. He then came back a few minutes later and begrudgingly wiped the table and then returned to his seat in the smoking area of the garden scowling at everyone. Pub was very dated inside, the toilets both male and female were disgusting, smelly and unclean. Would not recommend this place at all, I challenge anyone to find a worse pub than this!

We stumbled across The Admiral Boscarn while looking for somewhere to get a drink on a very busy day in Looe. If it wasn't for the sign outside saying there was a terrace upstairs, we wouldn't have entertained it as it's pretty much just a concrete block from the outside. Making our way upstairs we weren't sure where we were going, as it's actually an old nightclub which reminded me very much of my local nightspot at home from when I was a teenager. Once you get outside though there's a nice little sun trap terrace with quite a few tables. They also accept dogs which was good as we had four with us! The staff were struggling with the table service and had to eventually give up and ask that people come and queue at the door instead, but the service remained good either way. The drinks were very cheap so we stayed for a couple of hours. The whole place is a bit tatty and in need of a makeover, but it was fine for a drink in the sun.

They must be millionaires here as they don’t seem to like taking your money. Went for a drink in the garden about 5pm - it was table service only due to Covid. Only one poor lady serving, one of only a few pubs open so it was predictably busy. Sat for a full half hour, no one came to serve us so we left thirsty without being served. Such a wasted opportunity, when will pubs learn that more staff means faster service which equals more money in the till and more profit as well as better customer service.

Not a great pub. It was okay. We stopped off here for a drink. The garden area is okay that is where we sat to take in the fresh air, however there is a trip hazard going to and from the garden back into the pub, we saw another customer fall over and he really hurt himself, the staff at the bar were just not interested. I think we said to the man at the bar a few times someone has fallen over and he just looked blankly at us. The staff were not friendly at all as if it was an inconvenience they had paying customers. The pub is very tired inside and has seen better days. Didn't order food as it didn't look good at all! It is somewhere if you need a drink as it is right next to the beach, it is just such a shame it isn't more up together as a pub and the staff need to learn how to smile. Not very covid safe either, plastic screen at the bar which customers and staff ignored and just went round it so you were face to face.

We arrived late (10:30ish) on the evening of my birthday and were able to take drinks outside and sit by the beach. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. A few days later, we returned for a night cap, having been elsewhere celebrating our friend’s civil ceremony. The lady behind the bar brought over a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and glasses, saying that she could see we were celebrating something special. Well what can I say, over priced beer (not well kept either). Staff very rude, upon asking for a plastic pint glass rather than a half the barmaid said and I quote 'why does she dribble?'. Now the reason we had to ask for a plastic glass was they shut the beer garden at 7, no forewarning off this when we bought our drinks at 640. The place is dated and is a real shame as prime location. Worse than most social clubs. In summary avoid as its rubbish (wish to use stronger language but TripAdvisor would not approve review)

This is the only pub that is right on the beach, now truth be told the old Admiral is in need of a face lift BUT it is set out to socially distance and thought has been given on how to keep to guidelines, credit where its due. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food but we popped in for a drink to discover the seaview they talked about, staff were very friendly and chatty as we made our way into the upstairs bar, it's tired and dark, as we headed outside to the beer garden the riot of colour was amazing! The garden is beautiful and such a surprise, many hours of tlc must go into keeping it so lovely, the view is something else, you'd be paying a premium if this was a hotel! The biggest negative was closing early, as a family we decided to go for a meal then we planned to visit again for a few drinks afterwards. But to our shock they closed, this was around 7.30pm. The only thing this place has going for it is that it's close to the beach. The barman who was serving on Monday 21st May either needs sacking or training in customer service. I have never been so appalled at the lack of respect for paying customers. He is extremely rude and obnoxious. When one of our party politely pointed out that their shandy was flat & tasted fowl, he refused to listen and instead just said "it's not my problem you don't like the taste"...despite the fact that it was clearly flat, he still refused to replace it. The taste could have been that the lemonade had run out on tap and soda water automatically comes through (we ran bars for years). Anyway, his attitude stinks! As by the way did the distinct smell of urine by one of the doors on the way out. None of the group will ever be returning. We left and went to The Ship up the road where the staff were very polite, had good beer and great food! The place was also alot cleaner. Will be spending our money there from now on!!

This pub has an amazing roof garden which has great views of the beach and is covered in flowers, a really lovely spot to sit out in in Looe, which doesn't really have anything else like it. The inside is probably good for large numbers of younger people but the lack of any sort of character puts me right off. So we only went in for the garden but no sooner had we been served our drinks than the landlord closed the access to the garden because it was raining! It was actually a tiny bit of drizzle and we didn't mind that but he was adamant that we could not go up there. So we sat in the soulless bar waiting for the rain to stop and even when it did, he still wouldn't open the garden. The only positive thing I can say about this place is the bar lady was very friendly and polite.

We came here to celebrate a family members 60th birthday. The first time we visited we were told the chef was away and that we could get takeaway and bring it back and enjoy it the pubs beer garden! This was good enough for us so we went to the local chippy and then back to soak up the sun in the lovely beer garden. The beer garden itself is lovely, it is on the roof of the venue and overlooks looe beach. People were allowed to bring dogs and it had a lovely relaxed feeling. We decided to go back two days later to eat as a group. 20 of us in total went in, we didn't have to book and thankfully the chef was back. We ordered but did have a long wait for food (an hour which seemed odd as the place was quite empty)The food was good and was cheap. For 7 of us for food and drink it came to under £60!I ordered ham eggs and chips which was lovel and my husband had the steak which he enjoyed. The landlady was lovely, very chatty and spoke to us on both the occasions we visited. The chef came and told us one of the items we had ordered was not in stock and we were offered alternatives and even she was very friendly. One member in the group had an issue regarding his pie that had exploded during cooking after a 45min wait so went elsewhere to eat. With 20 of us ordering I was expecting more issues though but there wasn't.I would recommend this place for sure.

Popped in for a drink with my family, first bar staff told us all the drinks they didn't have lol, my stepson chose cola on taking it back to our table we discovered 6 dead flies in it! We took it back and barmaid became very abusive and rude, please avoid this place as it gives the lovely village of Looe a bad name.

Yes this could be a hidden gem. There is a very good garden terrace upstairs with beautiful views over the bay and surrounded by flowers. Ideal for an early evening drink. However, this was spoilt by appalling service and bad manners the only time we visited it. I hope that this was a one off and not regular. We visited about 6:15 on a Saturday night because although we had heard that it was a bit dated, we had also heard about the upstairs garden terrace and the good selection of wines and beers. It even had its own bar. When we arrived we were told that the terrace was closing but we could buy our drinks downstairs and take them upstairs to the terrace. This we happily did. There were about a dozen people on the terrace at the time but when we were halfway through our drinks they started leaving and an older person started taking all the parasols etc down and appeared to be closing the terrace. He did not say anything to us but when my husband asked he said that the terrace was closing early. No other explanation. My husband said that the guy down stairs did not say anything when we came in, if he had we would not has ordered drinks. He then said, abruptly, that there was a notice at the bottom of the stairs on the door stating the closing. It wasn’t there when we went up 15 minutes earlier. It was there when we went back down to finish our drinks and leaving. Such a shame.

this place is right on the sea front, so is perfect for a cold drink and a bite to eat, it also has a late closing time upstairs for those that like a late night drink. the place could do with modernising and brightening up a little as it seems to be stuck in the past, but over all not to bad.

I like it. I just like it, it felt a like a pub with character and one of those pubs you just don't know who will walk through the door, either good or bad, (which for me is a good thing). We had a nice quiet drink, the bar lady was very friendly. Nice place for a cold pint middle of summer. With what is around the village, we chose not to eat here, that was basically down to us and not this place.

From the outside it is hard to imagine this pub has a beer garden because it's on top of the building. It's an excellent place to have a meal and the food is reasonably priced.

This place is very unappealing from the outside, but it has the best beer garden in town. The view over the beach is fabulous and the garden is absolutely full of beautiful flowers and plants. We only had drinks but it was a lovely place to sit.

Myself. Husband and 3 children visited her twice during our week stay in Looe. Once for a meal after being out crabbing and at the beach. The portions are very generous I struggled to finish a basket meal. The staff were very friendly. And the cost was excellent. Our second visit was during our last evening when they had karaoke. Again very friendly environment. Entertainment was fantastic. And locals were all friendly and happy to chat to out children. Definitely worth a visit when staying in Looe.

I knew it had a garden so we went upstairs and found an amazing oasis! Just beautiful flowers..really outstanding with water features as well.We had lunch which arrived quickly with huge portions. There is a bar in the garden so you dont have to go downstairs.Well worth the visit and we will go again.Thank you top gardener of Looe.

We spotted the beer garden from the seafront so decided to pop in for a drink. Was almost having second thoughts when we went to the bar as it seemed very dark and tired. However, the lady who served us was very friendly so we got our drinks and went up to the stairs to the beer garden. We passed some huge rooms on our way up which don't look as though they've been used for a very long time - such a waste. Got to the beer garden and the flowers were amazing - so pretty!

I have cut and paste another review because it hits the nail on the head, "We only popped in for a drink and sat in the beer garden which is stunning, lovely water features and beautiful flowers everywhere, and a view to die for, our only criticism is the building is really tired inside and needs a major facelift"

What a great place to eat - upstairs in the garden! Extensive menu and the food is always great and lots of it. Eat there every time we go to Looe (about 4 times a year). Personally I would say the best place in Looe to eat.

Visited this Public House twice whilst staying near Looe. This hostelry is very dated and in dire need of refurbishment. This could be the best public house in Looe because of its size, location and beer garden, however the owners have just not bothered. Even a coat of paint would help. One member of staff behind the bar, so the service was painfully slow. The meals appear to be good value, but once again they stop serving at 4 o'clock in the afternoon - so it is not worth going there evenings. Three Pool tables that were not used, just taking up space that could have been put to better use. What a waste of a bar that could be something special, all that is needed is an owner with a bit of vision and could be a gold mine

Good food, fairly priced depending on what. Staff are great, only get annoyed if its busy and you try to attract their attention such as waving money or banging a glass on the bar. Can tell its all cleaned regularly as on the odd occasion you'll see the cleaner, staff will only say no to service if the person is trying to purposely gain the attention and being impatient or rude, which is fair. The beer garden's view is very nice. Expect to have to wait a few minutes to order as its near the beach this meaning very busy if you go there expecting to be served straight away then i'd go somewhere else.

I went into the boscarn today with family and had a great time and the barman josh was fun. After a few beers we decided to leave and come back later in the evening. My daughter and her fiance were playing pool wen four men who I can only describe ad ignorant and vile sat there and insulted my daughter to her partner. The remarks were vile. My son in law walked out as he was fuming.I'm disgusted that 2 people who are here for a break were treated disgracefully. I will not darken those doors again the customers are rude and just vile. Stay away from this venue its not a nice place to go and have a quiet drink in. Should you decide to venture there take full body armor as this place has a bad reputation. Shame that as a customer visiting looe should be treated in this manor.

Very expensive for what it is!! Dry baguette with ham (tasty ham) and cheese, a bit of salad and coleslaw (not very fresh) and a flat white came to £13.70!!! So stunned at the price I just paid it. I live in Truro and certainly won't be going again!

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Had a standard cappuccino here and it would've cost me less to get a taxi to Lidl and make it myself. Probably would've tasted better too.
