We had lunch here on our visit to Windsor. We chose it mainly because of the location right next to the river. I was with my two 12 year old great nieces and they chose the ragu pasta and a side of onion rings. The girls said the latter was the best they have ever tasted. Portions were big. I hade the salad which was utter delicious. Service was very good and unhurried I would definitely recommend

I don’t think brasserie is the correct name of this place. The menu is regular pug grub, burgers, pasta, pizza and just a few decent options.

Visited on a trip to Windsor Castle and had a very pleasant dinner. Service was a little slow but the staff were all very pleasant and the food was good. Would visit again if in area as the food selection in Windsor is poor unless you are into fast food. Good that there is this place to keep up standards

This restaurant has an excellent location with direct view over the river. However, we found the food a bit disappointing. Since it is part of an upscale hotel, we expected better quality and more choice.

While we did not stay at this hotel, we did book the afternoon tea for our anniversary celebration (30 years) after touring Windsor Castle in the morning. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Aside from the poor sandwich options and dry, sad scones, the customer service was the MOST disappointing of all. None of the staff spoke good English, they seemed to not understand our simple requests, they were forgetful? The tables were also too small to accommodate tea service. But most importantly, they had us waiting to long to fulfill our requests. We are extensive travellers and will not be recommending this place.

My Daughter in Law, who is from Finland has always wanted to have afternoon tea. I decided to go to the Sir Christopher Wren because of the very nice position next to the Thames. We were not disapointed, free flowing tea/coffee, extra plate of sandwiches, extremely nice scones and cakes, on top of that we started with a Champagne Sorbet. To say we were full is an understatement.

NOT up to standards at the basics!! Manager was pompous and clueless. Plates, cups and saucers were DIRTY. My plate had an obvious LARGE sauce smudge from a previous consumer. They didn’t fill waters, and were too busy to give the check when we were looking to go to catch a train. The waitress said,” I am busy, he (the pompous manager) will need to help you.” REALLY!! Afternoon Tea - dry scones-which were obviously not fresh from the day. Hot Steak Sandwich -cold and untoasted! Choose another place - so disappointing!! This place will continue to lose money under this management and staff!!

How this restaurant has a 4 star rating is beyond us. We had appalling service from the start. We arrived early in order to have a few drinks on the terrace as the day was beautiful. We were told we could order drinks from the bar and take them out. There were 5 people behind the bar and not one of them made eye contact with us (they were NOT busy). I had to stop someone who was rushing away from the bar to ask for a drinks menu. We finally got our drinks and made our way outside. The outside terrace is lovely but all of us noticed there is a bit too much greenery and it blocks the view of the river. It could be nicer if you could see more. That was the end of our nice evening. We made our way inside and were told that we could have either of the 2 booths around the corner (no one walked us to our table). A few minutes later, our waiter arrived and gave us our menus. When he returned, we asked if the restaurant provided bread baskets or something like that, he replied with 'I don't think so.' We ordered starters and mains. At no point did he ask us if we needed fresh/more drinks and he did no return so, we had to flag another individual down for drinks. We also thought to ask this gentleman about the bread baskets and he immediately said it was an option and placed the order for us. Our starters and bread arrived with no issue and were nice. When it came time for our mains, 4 of the 5 items arrived and we were told it would be 10-15 minutes for it; in other words: they'd forgotten it. We immediately complained as the rest of us would be well into our dinners before this last item arrived and were assured we did no have to pay for it. The item was further delayed because the original waiter asked for the wrong pasta plate to be prepared and they had to correct it. We also enquired if there was any sauce for the 2 steaks that had been ordered and were told they could do a peppercorn sauce (this AND the bread were no on the menu as options). We ordered 2 portions and proceeded to begin our meals. Neither of us have ever had a steak of that quality. The meat was a greyish colour and so incredibly tough, we could not have more than a few bites. When the peppercorn finally arrived, they only had one portion, not the 2 we asked for but, it did not matter as we were not eating any more of our steaks. When it came time to request the bill, we asked to speak to a manager to complain about the 2 steak dinners. It is important to note that during our meal, 2 other tables complained to management. The gentleman that came over assured us both the steaks and the late pasta plate would be removed from the tab and proceeded to tell us that they had a big party to cater in a side room and had many agency staff helping which is why so much had gone wrong. As a person who has worked in the service industry as a waitress myself, this is completely unacceptable. Not to mention, the quality of steaks has nothing to do with staff. All in all, it was our first and last visit for a meal there. As local residents, we know there are plenty of nicer meals to be had in the area with better service.

The Sir Christopher Wren is a lovely hotel with friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Service in the restaurant, in particular, is exceptional. Sadly, the food does not live up to the hotel's standards in other areas. The "all-day" menu hardly requires the skills of a qualified chef. Meals are more assembled than composed and the sense is that much of the food is bought in. My wife chose a vegetarian pasta dish of chickpeas, sweet potato and butternut squash. She described as tasteless and dry. I chose the Angus beefburger. Neither the burger nor the bun were worthy of much note. My wife's dish reminded me of the kind of dishes restaurants included on the menu for the occasional vegetarian customer 20/30 years ago. Surely things have progressed a little sense then. As to the burger, I can list half-a-dozen pubs within a five mile radius of my home in East Suffolk that offer the same dish several pounds cheaper and with much more flavour and panache. My wife chose the apple crumble for dessert and pronounced it tasteless. My sticky toffee pudding was okay but my impression was that it was bought in. It is such a shame that this lovely restaurant in a prime position offers such dull fare.

A good range of sandwiches (with replenishments if required), excellent scones, and a nice selection of cakes. £30 for a few barely-filled white bread mini sandwiches, some overly-sweet cakes (I left over half of them because they weren't good), and TEABAG tea(!?!) - not loose leaf. A rubbish tea menu of just six teas. They didn't bring me any scones so I can't even rate those one way or another. I left feeling hungry, having spent £30. A good afternoon tea is one of my favourite experiences. This was just sad. Nice-ish view over the river, the one saving grace - although nothing special. Some of the art on the walls was really rather cheap and tacky. Decor pretty average, at best. I could have just bought a Twining's teabag from Sainsbury's and a budget sandwich from a gas station and had a better time. Waiter took forgot to bring us our refill of tea. The mugs were standard white coffee mugs, nothing special. SAD

Had lunch here with friends recently and was very disappointed with the meal. The first impression of the hotel is great but it went downhill after that. The restaurant was ok but thought lunch would have a set meal menu with specials but the menu had everything on it from expensive mains to burgers and chips. Not what we expected from a venue like this. Afternoon tea was also being served to others but wondered why it was being served at lunch time. People seemed to wait ages to be served. We waited a long time for drinks and the starter and main. The food was warm and for the price charged very poor. The selection of veg. sparse. Left feeling needs a good chef here to match the hotel name. Christopher Wren name should be respected. Won’t be back.

Un servicio fantástico y un coro de feliz cumpleaños de la banda en vivo un poco más tarde. Lo disfruté a fondo. Encajonaron lo que no podíamos comer por nosotros. About ten minutes into our visit, the jazz band returned from break and blasted their music to spoil an otherwise enjoyable afternoon. We recently had an evening meal in the restaurant. The hotel is one of those places I’ve always walked past and thought it must be lovely. When we arrived the first part of the restaurant by the bar feels a bit like an airport lounge. However, the main restaurant does get better although lacks any atmosphere, not helped by wedding guests spilling out into the restaurant. The service was poor as our waitress was very abrupt when asked if we could move due to the noise levels as we were placed next to a large dinner party. The food was okay but when you consider that you are in a 4 star hotel and the price you are paying it wasn’t fantastic.

We booked for the Boxing Day lunch. It was good value for money and the menu was good.We were asked to order in advance and, as requested, sent our choices well in advance. The restaurant manager called to verify the request for a meal without black pepper and spices. The assurance was given that this would be done. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff were friendly and professional. The wine arrived chilled , which is always a bonus. Place names were at each setting along with a party hat and Christmas cracker. In large red letters on one place name card, it stated 'no black pepper.' The starters arrived and were delicious. We were then expecting our requested meals to be served at the table. It transpired that there was a pretty unimaginative buffet. There was nothing without black pepper available - all the food had been given a generous helping of same. The chef was called and she then called someone else out of the kitchen. There was total confusion as, despite having taken the card as proof, knowledge of the dietary request was denied. Finally, it was decided to cook a steak. All very jolly and a solution of sorts, but the delay in getting this done meant that 3 guests were able to eat together and were almost finished by the time the steak arrived! Not a great impression of the attention to detail and carrying out the wishes of the customer. The desserts were delicious. Coffee was included in the all inclusive price but, when the bill arrived, we had been charged extra for coffee. The waiter was somewhat bemused when we said that coffee should be included. However, the ambience in the very lovely setting overlooking the Thames was great. The service was excellent and one accepts that it was a very busy day, so problems were bound to arise. Two of the guests found the seats very low, but they were given cushions to boost their height which enabled them to see across the table. Parking is possible about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. One obtains a guest permit from reception; place it on the dashboard of the car and all's taken care of. This is such a bonus in Windsor where parking is a nightmare. This hotel is very popular with tourists due to its' proximity to all the major attractions of Windsor and Eton. I will return on a less busy day to assess how the staff cope . Friends who had the Guineafowl said that it was superb so, all in all, it's fair to say that the food was very good.

It's full of light and windows overlooking Eaton and the River Thames. The buffet is lovely and was included with my room rate, I had far more to select from than I could indulge in. great Bacon and lovely servers

Had an afternoon tea for 2. The afternoon tea was ok but thought it was very basic and not much effort had been put into it.

Held a baby shower here and went for the traditional afternoon tea. Very accommodating and allowed us to decorate the table with balloons and a banner. Tea, sandwiches and cakes were delicious and would certainly recommend. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Lovely afternoon had by all.

My sisters wanted to eat here, and we were a big group, so I booked a table. I didn't get a river view, note even close; shouldn't they of known that when I booked? I did quite like the round table though and we did move down later - I didn't even mind the teas happening at the same time as lunch, it does feel quite buzzy. There is confusion when you book, as they did say the A La Carte was going to be available, too. Sadly it wasn't. The beef was great, but the other choices were all a bit dry and looked a little tired as we didn't start on the buffet until quite late - about 3.30 ish. I've marked down because on arrival no one offered drinks for a good 15-20 minutes, and going up for the buffet was not really mentioned or explained to everyone on the table, also pricing should be clearer on the menu, so it's just underwhelming from the staff really. Also, for children the buffet is a terrible waste of money, my son barely ate anything, but the kids' menu was too young for him. There should be a teen price, i think. The best deal is the 2 hour prosecco slot.Cost was £312.

We were visiting Windsor for the day and, whilst crossing the bridge from Eton to Windsor, we spotted the terrace at the Sir Christopher Wren, which overlooks the river and were ready for a drink. We found a free table on the terrace and asked for the drinks list. We had quite a long wait for the waiter to take our order and another wait for the drinks to come. The drinks were reasonable for the beautiful view we had, service could have been better!

It is a number of years since we were at the Brasserie and it has changed with an extension and adding a bar. We were welcomed and shown a table at a riverside window. The 3 course lunch includes selection of starters and deserts but now the main course is a buffet. Included roast beef and roast turkey but also other dishes. Eat as much as you like and return if you wish. The only criticism was that I found the food was not warm enough but otherwise a good selection and tasty.

Dinner at the brasserie is a pleasure. The staff are attentive and helpful, able to give knowledgeable answers to any query. The food is delicious and beautifully cooked. There’s usually an amuse bouche too. The service was speedy but not rushed, keeping a nice 10minutes between courses . The portions are just right so you leave feeling full..or if you’re like me, too full as there’s always a dish that you have to finish...my guilty pleasure was the chocolate tart with honeycomb.. a chocolate lovers dream! Breakfast is a wonderful buffet with a varied array of cooked fare, pastries, cold meats and conventional cereal and toast! I had the breakfast at 930 and it’s now 5.30 and I am still not hungry! Maybe 3 visits to the buffet is excessive but what’s a girl to choose..especially when someone else has cooked it for you!

We had booked a table for Sunday buffet lunch in advance as it can get very busy here. The staff kept us waiting for a while, and didn't really seem to be on the ball, or know where to seat us, even though there were tables free, and of course we had made a booking a week in advance anyway.

There were 4 of us dining during lunchtime. Two of us ordered the afternoon tea and the other two ordered off of the menu. Everything was delicious and the view of the river was very pleasant while we ate!!!

This place has absolutely no concept of what service is. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere is OK and the service is horrible! Don't waste your time.

We had a lovely lunch at this hotel restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service was friendly but not intrusive. The atmosphere was relaxed. The buffet was extensive and delicious. The £15 all you can drink fizz was a real delight. We loved our afternoon and plan to return soon.

We came here for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday on a bank holiday weekend. We are locals but we had never tried this restaurant before. The staff were very professional when we asked if we could change our booked table as it was on the conservatory area with the sun directly overhead and they gave another table next to the river without any problems.

We stayed at the hotel so had to visit it for the 2 4 1 cocktails between 5-7pm. Still at £10 a pop its not cheap and they add a service charge! Lovely views along the river if the sun is shining!

We came here for the Sunday Bubbles with Jazz Lunch. Really excellent choices of food both at the buffet and to start (Scallops were superb). The Indian gentleman looking after us was superb, friendly and helpful, such a nice man! Music was good, a touch too loud in my opinion but good none the less. We'll definitely be back to do this again, the carvery/lamb shanks were the highlight. Excellent!

Done at the Brasserie for lunch and dinner on my last stay and came away impressed. The service was very friendly and prompt. the restaurant is spacious and the tables have plenty of room between them. The food ranged between very good and excellent with the steak being very good. It is another reason to stay at this hotel.

The Brasserie at Sir Christopher Wren is in a top hotel right on the river bank with fantastic views, I went there with family for a Great Meal Deal Before The Theater Special and was not disappointing you have top get there early and have a limited choice of the menu but all coarses were very good

We visited on Sunday for my daughter's special birthday. We were four couples and three toddlers, who had highchairs. We all had the main and a pudding. The main meal was a buffet with very pleasant service, where you could have as much as you wanted. I had roast beef and then the Eton Mess served at the table, both of which were excellent. We all enjoyed the meal, even the children, who got stuck into the Yorkshire puddings with gusto! My husband and I will definitely return for a quiet Sunday lunch a deux. It is also very reasonably priced.

Great stop for lunch after a walk around the local area. We just had the open sandwiches which were delicious especially accompanied with some mayo and truffle fries. Hope to come back soon. Thanks for being so welcoming.
