Brilliant place, food is so tasty (albeit take note of those spice ratings!!) and portions aplenty. Special shout out to the beer tower, which is a great idea. Recommend to anyone.

We all ordered a mix of different curries but the sauces all tasted the same and were all spicy hot.

I was visiting this restaurant regularly after my classes in Oxford. And I had good food earlier and gave 5 stars to them in the past. But today they deserve less and we were confused by restaurant staff and charged 2x more though, I took confirmation from them 3 times before ordering. I ordered a Pinto selection for 2 people. I said clearly, that we needed only for 2 and I asked what would be our bill. They confirmed £ 18.5x2= 37. And they served food. The taste was a bit down than in the past. But surprisingly, Bill came £89. Then they were rude and said it’s 18.5x4 not 2. We asked 3 times beforehand and the girl confirmed it would be around 36-37. And later she says they will charge 4 times. And the guy was rude shouting and throwing the menu on the table. Which is not good for the restaurant industry. I don’t recommend this restaurant any more and the staff should behave properly with customers. I suggest going to Wasabi & Itsu, Which are around the corner with good quality food and less on the pocket.

Although the food was edible, I experienced very unpleasant discrimination. (I am Asian) It just occurred to me so I'm leaving a review. It's been over two years since I went, but I thought I should leave it, but I forgot and am leaving it now. Summary of the situation experienced. 1. Visit during a discount promotion 2. I calculated the food, but confirmed that it was not applied at all. 3. The employee keeps lying that it has already been applied. 4. After talking for 10 minutes, the restaurant owner eventually came and corrected the mistake. The food itself is edible. But I can't possibly praise you enough.

The food is getting worse. My first time here on a Thursday afternoon was amazing. Really perfect. This time I came on a Friday evening. The sweet and sour chicken was precooked and dished up- battered chicken was soggy and the sauce was watery. The massaman curry was also really sad looking - onions were floppy hardly any chicken in it and watery too. Must be the Friday night rush (they precook batches Instead of made by order?). Too pricey for this quality.

Very authentic tasting Thai cuisine. Quite expensive. As a restaurant owner I don't like service charges. Main problem is the guy who cleared my starter forgot to tell the kit hen so there was a 45 minute wait between courses. Salt and Pepper rib stacks are awesome.

Lovely restaurant always friendly staff excellent food

Visited on a Friday night, very busy but we managed to squeeze in without a booking. We had the BBQ Pork on rice and the Prawn pineapple fried rice. They very kindly swapped out the prawns in the pineapple rice for chicken. Highly recommend both dishes! Server was very sweet and made our night - I didn't catch her name unfortunately

Randomly picked a restaurant in Oxford, didn’t expect to have such a nice Thai lunch. Haven’t eat Thai food for long, it’s 100% the Thai flavor we had in Asia before. The mango juice is very delicious too! Worth visiting!

Delicious! Buzzing atmosphere and quirky interior made this great birthday dinner choice for our family. I mentioned on our booking it was my daughter’s 16th birthday and it was a very thoughtful surprise when they brought her a full sized chocolate fudge cake dessert with candle!!! Thank you!

I went for dinner today , They gave me table below the stairs where people were walking above me which was not hygienic to eat soo I requested for better table, though it was not busy and lots of table were still empty but staff was soo rude and not pleasant with me he didn’t even try , I was about to leave but other guy helped me .He was soo kind and helpful .

This restaurant is ideal for pre-theatre dinner. Outstanding Thai food, excellent service and reasonable pricing. Recommended. If possible secure a table up on the mezzanine

Went with my son on a visit to Oxford. He chose it and we both really enjoyed it especially the sharing starters which were excellent!

Basile chicken has no single leave of Basile, tasteless chicken. Even the pudding couldn’t be finished. Really better off buy a Thai box from M&S. How is it 4.2 star?!

Excellent food - and as my dish was too spicy, they made me another, milder. Lovely atmosphere, great decorations and lovely staff. Pork skewers and mocktails/cocktails were excellent.

Regrettably, this was one of the least satisfying Thai meals I've had in quite some time. Despite the appealing exterior and the delightful Thai ambiance inside the restaurant, the food quality failed to live up to the overall presentation. My choice of Tom Yum soup, specifically the mushroom variant, left much to be desired. The inclusion of quartered chestnut mushrooms and inexpensive cherry tomatoes, accompanied only by the soup's chilly stock, contributed to a distinctly subpar experience. Unfortunately, the mushrooms and tomatoes appeared to be of the lowest quality, akin to those found in a standard grocery store like Tesco. Both lacked flavour, and their raw state, added just before serving, failed to enhance the overall taste of the soup. This resulted in a disappointment reminiscent of an instant supermarket soup – a standard far below what one would expect from a Thai restaurant. This experience was genuinely disheartening.

Fabulous restaurant, delicious food, amazing decor

A fun place to go- really large restaurant with plenty of space and interesting creative decor. The food is fine- nothing mind blowing but still tasty..! We had an enjoyable visit.

Visited today to “celebrate” daughter’s birthday. Previously had excellent food and service. Today was so different. Waited for long periods of time to be served each course. Toilets were shabby and not very clean. Staff couldn’t have been less interested in serving us. They had no jasmine tea and the mango for dessert was green (and no other available). “Optional” service charge included in the bill which we asked to have removed. We will not be going here again. There are many other places to eat nearby - visit one of those.

I went to that restaurant with my partner I ordered red curry with prawns and it come with some vegetables as well but the corrgett was really hard not cooked at all when we complained about it they said we informed the kitchen we weren’t happy about it because not fear

Bar area thick of dirt and plant flies all over table. Left drinks and ate else where. Also plate warmer so close to filthy area…Nice staff BUT why as this not been cleaned or a supervisor monitoring hygiene

So surprised to see Thaikhun in Oxford after enjoying their lovely food in Cambridge. I did not know that they are a chain store and was surprised The rickshaw sits outside in Cambridge and is inside in Oxford but is definitely a beautifully furnished restaurant The staff are friendly, food arrives quickly, portion sizes are good and tastes just as good as it does in Cambridge.. Thats what you get in a chain store.

I did the massaman curry cooking lesson here and had a fantastic time, the host and chef were both lovely and knowledgeable and taught us to recreate the dish with a very authentic and delicious taste. You also receive the recipes with instructions and even a thaikhun apron which was a nice touch. I look forward to coming back and trying the thai red curry course. Khub khun khup, yin dee tee dai roo juk khup ✌🏻

The restaurant itself looks lovely and I think the decoration is perfect. I have been several times and I try a few new dishes every time. The food is my favourite Asian cuisine, and the staff are always amazing. I recommend the pork dishes.

Do not recommend for take aways, the portions have become smaller and smaller. The food is good but there is, by far, not enough value for money given the current portion sizes.

Best Pad Thai we had in UK, love the vibe of the restaurant. Really good for sharing with friends and family. Would come again sometime ;)

Authentic Thai Cuisine, good location and ambience

Absolute perfection, I had the Katsu vegan chicken curry & my partner had the pad Thai, with a couple of mocktails & noodles and crackers as sides. Great service, great atmosphere, highly recommend. Will definitely be returning when next in Oxford, can’t fault it

Lovely Thai flavours for every kind of palette. We had the thaikun sharer platter between the two of us and a pad thai with a side of crispy squid. Platter was okay, very filling on it's own so I'd recommend pairing it with just a side of rice as a meal. The pad thai was outstanding though and the crispy squid was unreal! Wonderful flavours, good service, loved the interior of the restaurant too. Felt very much like being back in Bangkok

Some people seem to be easily pleased by the decor and the great name but when it comes to the food then this place is nowhere near resembling good Thai food. Let me explain: 1. Tom Yum is a clear broth with chilli, tomatoes, lemon grass, galangal, tamarind and fish sauce whereas Tom Kha is pretty much the same soup but with coconut milk. So when I see Tom Yum on the menu I assume it's going to be the clear one so I was surprised to see that it contained Carnation milk. That's condensed milk so surely a translation error. I asked about this and was assured that it was Tom Yum but with coconut milk. So it was Tom Kha, not Tom Yum. Fair enough because anyone can make a mistake, so I asked if they could just not add any coconut milk, and the waitress went and asked (which is good) and said no. Why not make a Tom Yum and then add coconut milk when someone wants a Tom Kha? I chose the chilli squid starter instead because you can't go wrong with that. It was deep fried as I expected but maybe some people would like to know that it's deep fried as opposed to fried. Unless they're Scottish. It was okay but very greasy and the chilli dip was so mild as to be bland. Can't remember what Sadie had but she wasn't impressed. Main course was chicken stir fry in garlic and black pepper with a veggie side dish. The merest hint of garlic and pepper didn't make for a great main course. Sadie had the Chicken Tamarind which was basically McDonalds chicken nuggets coated with a fine layer of stuff which resembled tamarind in the same way as wine gums resemble wine. I realise that I'm an Asian food snob but I'd beg you to try other Thai restaurants in Oxford to appreciate what the cuisine has to offer. This was poor.

Being a lover of Thai food and on a visit to Oxford, we decided to eat at Thaikun. We was not disappointed. My wife and I had a massaman beef curry and shared a vegetable sharing platter

Just amazing, we were told we had to wait 25 minutes for food but honestly I don't even think we waited 10. The gyoza were amazing and the pandan chicken was literally sooooo soft and flavourful, I came here with my 12 year old kid and she fell in love! Excellent value for money and everything is so well seasoned. The staff were very nice. Very excited to try again!👍

1. Our food comes more than 30 minutes after order. Two tables nearby with customers coming later get food earlier than us (which means the kitchen is not too busy). 2. We ask for double check and tap water at about 15 minutes after order, but both are fooled over by the waiter and waitress. No table service at all during the waiting.

Been to 2 different venues now... the food was good at both Oxford and Southampton. Lovely, consistent and staff very friendly no matter the time you go. It is a little pricey but definatly worth it and have never left there hungry. Would always recommend to anyone and everyone.

Five of us went for a business lunch. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Food was amazing, haaad 2 mixed starters between us before as main course each. I would definitely go back.

Not very attentive service. Didn't ask if everything was OK not even when we were paying the bill. 2 people at the front desk didn't look up from their phones when we left to say thank you and goodbye. The food was just OK. The seat we were on was spilt abd had old cushions covering it

Daughter’s Birthday meal! Our favourite Thai restaurant by far, it is a shame we are not local as this restaurant is truly amazing! Such cool theming and delicious food. Staff super friendly and attentive and food was fast despite being busy.

From sitting in chairs that are crooked and will make your back ache, to asking a waiter for a different spot and him being unpleasant in letting you know to contact reception, to, finally, uniquely bland food, masterfully dry chicken and overused chillis as the main trick to mask the lack of good flavour. This is not an experience I would recommend anyone.

Delicious food with a fun, buzzing, casual atmosphere and quirky decor. I found the leaf-shaped plates quite fun, and I think this would be a great place to bring a group of friends for a relatively cheap night out. My only two gripes are 1) the cushions on the chairs aren't attached to the chairs and this slide around quite a bit, making me fear that they'll fall off and 2) service was friendly but slow. It consistently took me a good while to flag someone to refill my water or get me a jug so I can do it myself, as well as to get the cheque. But if you're with friends and not in a rush, then this is probably a non-issue. Overall, would recommend if you have time to spare and some patience.

When in doubt, choose Thaikhun. Super vegan-friendly and the food tasted amazing! Fast and friendly service too.

Venturing out late in the evening one night during our stay in Oxford, we walked down George Street - a popular place with a large number of eating options - and saw this place from across the street, catching our eye with its colorful and uniquely decorated interior. Agreeing that Thai food would fill the bill that night, we walked in and were taken by just how large (and on how many levels) the space was. The VERY friendly person at the door greeted us and then took us to a stairwell where we were able to see the various dining areas available. Looking for a bit of quiet, we chose to be taken downstairs and were seated at a 2-top there. The room was decorated to resemble a Thai street scene, with "stalls" offering different foods and other things you'd spy down a market street. The music was also of the area, but was not so loud as to disturb a conversation. We were given the menus, which offered a HUGE number of choices, and I started off with a Lychee-enhanced gin fizz drink (really unusual and delicious) while my wife opted for a glass of the always easy to drink Singha beer. We ordered an appetizer of Chili Squid, with my wife ordering a main of Spicy Seafood Noodles and me opting for the Fried Organic Tofu with Cashew nuts and a side of steamed jasmine rice. Now, all we had to do was be patient until the food arrived! Not too long after placing our order, the appetizer arrived and it was really well prepared and very tasty (squid can be tough some places, but this was tender and nicely spiced). After our starter was done, the main showed up and both were happily shared, with a lot of nice seafood included (we asked for the "Spicy" to be a little less so and they complied without any complaint) and the tofu dish wok-ed with expertise. While the portions were quite ample, we'd seen the Mango Sticky Rice on the menu and made sure to keep some room in our stomachs available for that, which ended our meal with just the right amount of sweetness and fruitiness. Service was attentive (even when the restaurant began to fill up) and extra friendly, so we would certainly recommend this place for anyone looking for something a bit out of the ordinary for a meal while in this ancient English city. Prices were quite fair, too, with our entire meal coming in at under 70 GBP.

Great attentive service from very helpful staff. We ate early at 5.30pm and were seated quickly in great location. Exceptional tasty and varying menu which delivers great value. Portion size is generous. Ambience of restuarant is great and I loved the open kitchen - you can see the skill and effort of the chefs. This is one of the best meals I've eaten in a very long time and without hesitation I'd recommend the sweet and sour crispy chicken and the pad tai vegetable noodles. This is very worthy of 5 stars.

Unfortunately very disappointing experiences. I ordered Tom Yum soup with noodles which were terrible - they tasted like spaghetti hoops. Our very helpful and professional waitress took them back with no hesitation and I was able to order a replacement which was ok, but by then all the other mains had arrived and we ended up eating at different times.

Lovely friendly and efficient service, without intruding. A super atmosphere with nice Thai style decorations (as far as I know what Thai style is). It was quiet enough for relaxed conversations, but also enough noise/music to be private. The price was fair. The food was good, although I would have preferred my cashew and tofu stir fry to have had more vegetables and cashews and less tofu. Overall, I recommend this restaurant.

Decor is really nice and Thai and the Thai staff I spoke to were absolutely lovely and efficient. However, it went downhill from there. Massively overcooked and cold pork skewers. Garlic and pepper prawn which was a weird veg in oyster sauce affair with not many slimy prawns on top. Prawn Pad Thai was tasty enough though overly sweet with insufficient condiments to mix in, too much tofu and, again, not many prawns. Attention to detail points - my beer Leo was served in a lovely frozen glass. My second beer came without a glass and I had to use my now warm glass. If you're going to the trouble of adding nice touches like frozen glasses, then be consistent. The non-Thai staff in general seemed much less switched on. I assume, from the abysmal food, that the cooks have never been to Thailand or, indeed, eaten proper Thai food. But for the service, I would have given Thaikhun Oxford 1 star.

Visited on Saturday 14th with my partner, we had booked due to a lot of restaurants being fully booked that weekend. Atmosphere was good and our order was taken in good time, we had a sharing started which was disappointing - the fish cakes were really greasy, little meat / lots of fat on the ribs & prawns just tasted of oily batter. Mains were better but nothing special, all in all we've been to better thai restaurants so unfortunately would not return in the future.

The service staff has a bad attitude and don‘t understand why the 10% service fee is charged. I couldn’t see them in the restaurant. I sat there for 10 minutes, and no waiter came to our table to serve us. I don‘t understand why I didn’t tell you that the set meal was shared when I ordered. When I found out that I didn‘t have food, I was told that the food was shared. In short, it was a very bad experience in Oxford.

we visited for a friday night date night after we spotted this restaurant a few months ago, walking past and never managed to come back, however we finally decided to visit and we’re not disappointed! we had 2 starters, 1 main and 1 dessert and i think 2 cocktails and a pint and the bill was just over £110 which i would say is decent for the quality of the food and service. very fast service and attentive staff, food was incredible and i HIGHLY reccommend the bbq pork cheek with sticky rice and the bbq pork skewers, both were amazing. it was very busy so even tough we had booked a table we did have to wait at the bar for maybe 15mins but the decor is so nice we didn’t mind. will be back soon!

A great food experience is what we have made at Thaikhun in Oxford. During our visit to Oxford our friend from the UK suggested this beautifully furnished restaurant. Indeed it was a great idea. Right from the entrance onwards Nook has taken care of us and did a great job. The dishes were very generously portioned and the taste was just delicious. If you are near or in Oxford and you'd like to eat good Asian food, try out this place.

Good service combined with a great menu choice make this a perfect place to grab a nice Thai dinner. The portions are really good and there’s a very good drinks selection too. Around the corner from the new theatre too so it’s handy for a pre theatre meal.

Food is good but not very good I can say 3.5/5 It is over priced but it is understandable as the restaurant is in a touristic area 3.5/5 Staff are really nice and polite 5/5 My only concern is service charge which most of the restaurant charge without customer consent, there is tipping problem in America and in UK, we are kind of forced to pay it, it is much more respectable and polite to ask the customer first or ask if we like to tip the. Add it to the bill not just force us to pay it, so 1/5 Overall experience 3/5

Fantastic restaurant in the middle of Oxford, Recommend booking a table as it gets very busy.I ate here twice om holiday & loved the beef noodles ( street food)
