Awful place. Guy out the back using horrific language talking to his team members. I won’t call him a chef because no chef would actually serve up the muck we were offered. The other staff were lovely. The fish once I found it amongst the soggy batter was not too bad but the chips tasted like they had been languishing for a couple of days.

Amazing. Good value for money Large portions. Varied menu clean and good customer service. Changed ownership and been refurbed. Would highly recommend

Superb fish and chips . I had the grilled Haddock cooked to perfection seasoned with olive oil and black pepper . Chips crisp and dry Also I liked the fact they had local beer on offer in this case Curious brew IPA Already looking forward to our next visit

Have been here a few times with our grandchildren after swimming to eat in. Always welcomed warmly, and served promptly. The fish is fresh, flaky and the batter is light and crispy. If I'm lucky I get lovely broken chips, cooked until crisp and crunchy, yum!!! Only negative, they don't do deserts, so my grandson can't have ice cream for eating up his fish!!! Keep up the good work.

Food is good. Service good. No real problems there as it’s just a good quality fish and chip shop. They do dining in which is good. However the prices have gone up so much now I’m not going again. Other fish and chips in the area are cheaper and serve the same food.

Best fish and chips I have had in my life and I am 60! And fussy! So beautifully cooked, crisp outside and moist inside for fish and no pools of oil at all, chips outstanding

Ordered skate, cod and chips as a birthday meal for my mum. So disappointed. The skate was lukewarm and pink obviously not cooked properly. The cod had a very funny taste, not nice at all. The only nice thing was the chips we shared. Will not use again

Absolutely fantastic,first visit,staff were really friendly and great prices food was delicious had risotto chicken with chips ,hubbie had burger & onion rings all cooked fresh nothing was to much trouble,great selection of food takeaway or eat in will be returning

Extremely disappointed. I had dined-in previously and enjoyed the haddock and chips as they were freshly prepared to order. Today, I purchased a takeaway of cod and chips and, on looking at the poster, a portion of pulled pork loaded fries. I was corrected by the counter staff that it was hog roast. Got home and although my hub's fish and chips were fine, my meal was not. The pork was sliced as if it was a piece of pork leg bought from the supermarket (I've previously been in catering, so I do know the difference between regular pork and hog roast). It was dry, like card and utterly tasteless. The chips were like shards and my mouth feels I've been chewing razors. I called to say I was disappointed and received a very curt response that it's not pulled pork but hog roast. In that case, the poster needs taking down or changing as it is misleading and breaks the trades description act. A very expensive and never to be repeated experience.

Lovely food, top quality, tasty, great price and a friendly service.

I have both ordered online from here and eaten inside the new restaurant seating area. The prices are slightly higher than average compared to some fish and chip bars in different areas, but not too high to appear expensive. The quality of the food is amazing, the chips and fish have never been soggy, with a perfect level of crispy coating. The staff are very friendly and care greatly about the quality of the food being served. The new menu now offers additional styles of food that you wouldn't normally get at a local chippy, such as pulled pork, gammon steaks squid rings and other delectables. The quality and flavours are really good and I feel happy paying the price asked for this. Whenever I'm in the area, this has become my favourite eatery to visit.

Really delicious grilled haddock with baby potatoes. Husband had tiger prawn which he really enjoyed too.

Was looking forward to the meal, chips ok but the large cod had a bitter after taste to it,put it in the bin not a cheap meal to be throwing away.

Pie was wrapped in cling film so was a bit soggy and some of the chips appeared to be refried so a bit too hard to eat. Fish was lovely.

Visited for the first time in many years around a month ago and had a slight issue with my order. I brought this issue to the attention of (who I presume to be) the owner. He kindly offered to replace the part of my order which I had the issue with. As I am not particularly local, today when passing I decided to pop in and receive my replacement. I ordered extra to feed the rest of my family. I can honestly say, I haven’t had fish and chips like that in a very long time. Exactly how I like my chips; a bit crispy on the outside and light, fluffy goodness on the inside. Perfectly paired with a lovely piece of cod. Savaloy was cooked as I should expect. I shall probably be making special trips to go to this fish and chip shop when choosing to have a fish and chip take out in the future (instead of just visiting when passing). Thanks so much for such amazing customer service and dealing with my issue in such a friendly and polite manor. I was greeted with a smile and left feeling appreciated as customer. Will look forward to visiting again soon.

1st time visiting this fish and chip shop but won't be back. We were there after 8pm and the chips were dry and hard. It felt that we had been served the leftovers from the days trade and that they had been reheated more than once. Fish was dry and salty. Very expensive for a poor quality meal

Visiting the area. Parked nearby. Needed something quick. Really impressed. Friendly service. Chips cooked to order. Hot and crisp. I'm really fussy about chips. Don't have them often so appreciate fresh and properly cooked. Spotlessly clean tables outside. Sat in sun and enjoyed. Wish we lived closer.

We go here all the time and thoroughly disappointed. It’s gone downhill. Fish has got smaller but the main problem were the chips that were reheated from the night before and were awful. Moral - do not go here when first opens or you will get reheated food.

Popped in for lunch following an outing, decided to eat in as it was a little chilly and blowy outside, got a wonderful greeting from the lady behind the servery and was directed to one of the booths opposite and was requested to have a look at the menus, and she would be over to see us very shortly. We settled on cod and chips with mushy peas and a cuppa tea. I went large with my fish, but almost struggled to finish it!! Next time will order 1 large and and 2 medium chips between us. Food was excellent I think the best in Tenterden!! We will be back when we are next in the area.

Waited 15 mins to have the fish cooked (why they don’t have a couple ready anyway ) I don’t know. Awful chips - day old at least , tasteless fish - in the end. Won’t recommend to any of my mates . Won’t be returning either .

The staff here are amazing. I had a large very order and despite there being a power failure they still managed to have my order ready for collection on time. The food was delicious.

We were a big group camping nearby and ordered for 11 families - they made the process so easy and got every single item right and labelled! The food quality was great and very tasty!

Best chips around. Large menu, lots of choice for meaties, fishies, and veggies.

As visitors we used Tenterden Fish Bar twice and had great food both times. It’s nice to see the ‘regular’ cod being a sensible (small) size, not the massive unfinishable hunks you sometimes get elsewhere. Scampi was great, and the chips were not greasy as other places can serve up. It also has an extensive menu with pies, burgers, grilled fish, veggie options etc. Friendly service, what’s not to like?

We placed a huge order on a sunny Friday night for 20 people and were super impressed with the fantastic service, delicious food and extensive menu. Best of all was how well allergies were catered for, giving us confidence we can eat safely. Thank you!

Fish was lovely but batter was to hard/chips were good

Stopped here for lunch on the way through to Ashford and its honestly the nicest fish and chips I've ever had the chips where beautifully cooked and the batter on the cod was crispy and light highly recommend and the staff were friendly. The prices were so reasonable aswell despite the cost of fish going up. Portion sizes for medium were more than enough glad I didn't order a large I don't think I couldn't have eaten it all.

You have to try roast hog,chips and salad what a meal fresh and plenty off plus they have an extensive menu

I had the rotisserie chicken and chips. I have not had such a nice piece of chicken from a fish and chips shop for about 7 years. My brother had cod and chips, and he said it was one of the best pieces of cod he has ever had. Reasonable price and massive portions. Would recommend.

Had a delicious grilled lemon sole this evening - it was delicious!! Lovely and fresh. Service was good, friendly and quick. Restaurant was very clean and staff friendly. Good ambience and music was great! Will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Well done team.

Lovely fish and chips, bit of a wait due to being short staffed but the staff were cheerful and friendly. Prices a bit on the high side.

Our cod and chips were excellent. Good and efficient service and the portion sizes were very good. The food was not greasy or oily and will definitely return. A very comprehensive menu and a good experience.

Good fish. But the southern fried chicken is very hit and miss

We go here all the time and thoroughly disappointed. It’s gone downhill. Large cod is the same size as a small. It’s oily and the prices seem to go up every time we go in there. And also the service is slow the young girls that work in there are more interested in there phones. We won’t be returned and we will be telling everyone how bad it has got in there.

Sat in for the first time today. The customer service was incredible. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name, but we were constantly checked up on by a man who was incredible. They sat 9 of us and done a fantastic job.

Often stop for Halloumi and chips. The chips are lovely and the batter is crisp. All the staff are very efficient and friendly. Recommend

Food tastes fine but prices are extortionate.. £10 for undercooked fish, cold, dry chips and 95p for a half-filled tub of sauce. I asked for salt and vingear and can't taste either.. Upset because this place used to be my go-to chippy.

Got to say I'm loving the online ordering! Happy to jump in a car and drive 20 mins for such a wide variety of takeaway food.

£19 for 2 pieces of watery cod and a large bag of over cooked chips. And they wanted 10p for a bag

Recently refurbished, the restaurant is really clean and tidy with comfy bench seating and good size tables. The food was really good and well priced for eating in but the stand out thing was the service, the two gents really went out of their way to ensure we had a good meal. Definitely recommend as a stop-off.

Day trip to local stream train experience ended with a disgusting meal from this local fish and chip 'restaurant'. Fish and battered sausage clearly cooked in old chip fat with the chips reheated and cooked in same fashion. Claimed fish was cooked fresh, accepted but pointless if cooked in old cooking oil, batter should be golden brown, not a dark crusty batter. Purchased a coffee with it, that too was disgusting, looked like microwaved gravy. We couldnt go back bevause we ate in the car to return home, local bin came in handy but car stunk of old chip fat

Really low quality product .the chips were supposed to have been cooked fresh but I had lots of burned bit of old recooked ones . They make you wait outside even when no one is in the shop ? .not here here again it is under new management so it is how it is now and going forward.find something else .tasteless savoloys and very over cooked cod roe, probably twice.

i have visited several times fish and chips shops on my trips in England however the tenterden fish bar is one of the shops that i have loved it has friendly staff and the owner is so welcoming, excellent food the fish was fresh and the chips were fried perfectly first time i have tried so delicious food! Good prices and quick service.

Waited 20 minutes for my order outside (good job it wasn't raining) it's the worse I've ever tasted!! Fish & the chips were dry. Chips tasted like they had been re heated. & Although the fish was freshly cooked it was dry? This definitely was not cod or haddock.

This is the second time to visit this chip shop ,menu looked fantastic how disappointed were we we only wanted chips to keep hunger at bay worst chips I’ve ever tasted. Bits of chips overcooked rank tasting oil . Our friend says it wonderful so we thought we would try again what a bad decision chips awful taste the oil my husband had southern fried chicken x2. Was so dry and horrid like it was cooked day before , but I had cod bites which to be fair the fish was really good but could taste the oil in batter wont try a third time. We only went as Dels in st Michaels was closed .

I will never step inside this place again, the fish was grey and overcooked the chips were appalling cold and hard.I wish I had read the reviews before going and I wouldn’t have wasted my money.

The choice on offer here is huge compared to the chip shops in the North West of England but is also larger than most chip shops around the South too. I can also confirm that the quality of the food is top notch. The Haddock, Saveloy and Salmon special were all delicious and the chips were tasty and plentiful. A medium portion will suffice most people I would think as the large must be massive! There were barbecue ribs and pork chops on offer here which I may have to try on another visit. The ladies serving were also friendly to chat with.

The food here is good, but the portions are far too small. A medium chips costs £2.80 and is what you would expect from a small anywhere else. Recommend going elsewhere until this improves.

First time we used this chip shop normally use Headcorn or St Michaels we shan’t be going back to this one. scampi soft barely cooked fish bites was nice ,chips I think we had the end of day scrapings all crunchy small and hard like crisps and it is very expensive

We've lived in Tenterden now for around a year and this is the 3rd and last visit to this fish bar. The only thing good about it was the man who served us - very polite and accommodating. The food was awful - chips that were overcooked, a large piece of cod that was medium at best - bland and luke warm. A saveloy that was stone bonkers cold and a sausage in batter that was probably cooked hours before it was served. And to finish off a nightmare visit very expensive - there are much better options to use locally - please do so.

I wouldn’t come again. Ordered: Skate, large plain sausage, gravy, peas and a bag of chips. £20.15 Fish wasn’t cooked thoroughly, raw at one end, chips were way overdone and from dirty oil, poor in taste and texture. Really disappointed as it looked like it would be good after the huge menu they had on display. I won’t be back, and that’s a big shame.

Awful chips, no potato inside. Thought my teeth were going to break! Texture more like crisps than chips. Seems to be the norm here as I’ve tried it over some time but it doesn’t get better. Tried to call but no answer. Steer clear if...

Fuming!!! When I walked into the shop the man was very rude to his staff shouting and swearing at them. I then ordered a small chips and a sausage and he made fun of my weight and said ‘are you sure that’s enough for you fat boy’ when I received my meal the chips where stale the bread roll was mouldy and the sausage batter was under cooked would not recommend !!

BEST CHIPS EVER!!! I can’t see why people are complaining about them being so crispy! Absolutely delicious and can’t wait for some more. Well done guys!

Cooked to order, quality OK but was a little expensive

Went there a,week ago bought spam frittas and chips when I got home chips looked like they was cook twice so dark extremely crispy some just a shell no potatoes as for the spam friar's over cooked crispy and hard but centre was okish. I did phone up and complain they did try all there best to rectify my problem and there customers service was fantastic they even offered to deliver my meal but unfortunately I declined. They just have to make sure that the food is not over cooked and looks appealing to us customers. Will I go again maybe

Just had fish and chips the fish was as thin as the cardboard it came in more batter than fish and the chips were overcooked every one of the chips that we ate was crunchy ☹️

Sad with our meal today. Have previously had some lovely fish & chips from here, super fresh fish & light crispy coated chips. Today the chips were like oily soggy bits of cardboard, the prawns ordered weren't available but rather than telling us, they substituted them with other smaller prawns, only telling us as they were packed into the bag after paying. They must have been quite old as they smelt really bad when we unwrapped them. Didn't dare eat them as they were really rank. Not an enjoyable meal at all. With all the new things on the menu I think they might be compromising on quality. Such a shame.

Marinos' fish and chips are always good, and since last August when the new owners took over this is the best fish and chips I've had anywhere. And great jazz music whilst you wait for your food to be cooked. Excellent!

The chips are honestly some of the best I've had! Veggie burger was better than they usually are and my wife loved her salt n pepper squid. Brilliant menu, cooked fresh but quickly. Really nice 👍

The worst I've ever had! The sausage was overcooked and shrivelled up and the chips were crusty shells with no soft potato in the middle, I was really hungry and in a rush so this was even more disappointing.

Popped in today got new items added to menu had to try pulled pork in roll with bbq sauce and glad I did was well nice 😋 definitely be having again nice to have abit of variety, and now they started delivering aswell A*****

Awful food chips tasted like cardboard

Very friendly, and lovely fresh haddock.

I know fish and chips is not the tastiest dish in the world but this one seems to go to a new level of bland. Fish had very little taste chips are almost overcooked so they’re too crunchy. Okay but probably wouldn’t rush back.

Reheated chips that were nothing like chippy chips. Too crispy, not potato-y enough. Like a bad pub’s chips. Such a shame as we’d been looking forward to them. Pleasant enough staff.

It’s just so good, the halloumi fries and chicken nuggets are the stuff of dreams
