Temujin in Calderdale

Welcomed on arrival by the owner who explained how it all works - you have a tick list from which to choose the different flavours of cooking oil, sauces and garnish and you take a plate on which you help yourself to the raw ingredients you’d like and then hand all to the chef who stir fries it and when ready it’s brought to your table in a bowl to eat with a fork or chopsticks. It’s fun and you get chance to be a bit creative and I suppose picky eaters can also then be sure they’re not getting something they won’t like. There are suggestions as to what flavours blend well if you’re fazed by the amount of choice. You just keep repeating this until you’re full. The restaurant is clean, smart and modern and the staff friendly and efficient. It’s a great place for a casual dining experience.

This is a good place for a nice meal with your family. You can pick and choose whatever you want. The service is good and they have varied food options.

The staff are so friendly it's such a lovely atmosphere and the food is delicious, it's the second visit this year and we're planning on coming back

We went here for my 9 years olds birthday and it didn't disappoint. Love the little tick sheets you get to choose the oils and sauces before you go up to select your noodles, protein and veggies. My two boys loved choosing there food this way. Given you can go back as many times as you can humanly consume, you can try as many as you like or just stick to the same one if you find a favourite. I let me boys have free reign on my last bowl and choose all my oils, garnishes and sauces. Of course, it was chilli everything - turned out really nice too. Seeing the chefs cook you selection right in front of you is awesome too. We will be back, in the meantime going to purchase one of the do it at home kits they have for sale so we can try and recreate the experience midweek. Thanks Temujin for a great, memorable experience. we will be back.

The setting is nice, service was ok. You take the food from a choice that is presented and then choose different spices, sauces and ingredients (all you can eat). Beverage was ok, however not that extraordinary to go there for a second time. Prices reasonable.

Always excellent service and friendly staff, cannot fault it. It's unusual too, based on Mongolian cuisine.

Takeaway review - So impressed by Temujin’s gluten free options and the thorough dietary / allergy details now on their takeaway menu. I’m gluten free, and it’s really important to me that what I’m choosing isn’t going to make me ill and when you have a menu with everything so clear, it really takes the stress out of ordering and gives me confidence in their allergy knowledge. I was delighted to have sweet and sour chicken, something I’ve not eaten since going gluten free 8 years ago, and I have to say - oh my goodness, it was such a treat! I had the ‘chicken for one box’ which was loaded with yummy chicken coated in sticky sweet and sour sauce, accompanied with pineapple, spring onions and chillis. I chose gf rice noodles and salt and peeper chips - and oh my goodness, the chips reached a whole new level! My husband had a beef stir fry with a variety of vegetables and noodles and loved it to. Delivery was prompt too - really impressed, thank you!

Absolutely amazing. The food was delicious. A fabulous birthday treat and end to our holiday on the canal. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Wow this is the place for Stir Fry, Mongolian cuisine. Never fails to deliver. Has new menu still unlimited stir fry but also options during week to Have a starter, one stir fry and a dessert. Other option a starter and one bowl of stir fry or a bowl of stirfry and a dessert. This is easier on the money value so more people can enjoy this awesome food. We never tire of this cuisine. Absolutely fantastic & unique restaurant. The ability to mix and match different combinations of food, tastes and flavours makes Temujin a win, and all you can eat means no need to worry about trying every different combination possible!

Visited last night for a mini Christmas do with my work team (4 of us) after not having been for a few years. New system with the little sheets works great and helps to streamline the stir fry process. Did have an issue when ordering a mocktail as when it came it tasted as though it contained alcohol. I followed this up later on and was told it had accidentally been made as a cocktail instead (semi-understandable as the mocktails had similar names to their associated cocktails although I did order from the separate mocktail part of the menu and it was the server I ordered it from who made the drink). I hadn’t drank alcohol in two years due to it clashing with medication I take for a chronic illness so this did put a bit of a dampener on the evening - not too much of an issue though as it was replaced with a mocktail when I brought it up and also gave me an excuse to eat a bit more than I normally would have done! Otherwise the service was brill and food top notch; I plan on returning for my birthday next year.

Thanks DAVID AND STAFF Had Wonderful Meal. Highly recommended good value for money all you can eat buffet of stir fry. Had plum sauce and garlic and chilli meat and vegetables. Favourite lemon lime sauce with garlic oil chicken and loads veg with ginger garlic toppings. Another favourite yellow Thai curry plum sauce. Never get bored experience recommended I had hakymi with chilli 🌶 jam start Had long island iced tea so good 👍 😋 GUARANTEED SATISFACTION 💯 xx

Really disappointed, ordered 2 X bespoke noodle boxes at £11 each !! and a portion of Duck spring rolls at £8.95. The flavours weren't great in either noodle box I accept responsibility for that as i created the flavours, but one box was chicken the other prawn, all I could taste in the chicken box was prawns, clearly cooked in the same pan. The second box (prawns) had a total of five prawns!! The Duck spring rolls tasted just like shop bought, hardly any Duck content and received x 4 for £8.95. For prices of £30 expected it to be amazing, way off a £30 takeaway in terms of portion size, meat content and Duck Rolls were appalling. First time order, won't return, harsh words but total rip off eaten much better for less in city centre prices.

I have returned many times. Each time I eat too much! The choice of foods is almost endless and with some very rare choices. You choose your won ingredients form the vast array of fresh meat, fish, shellfish and vegetables. Then take your bowl to one of the 5 huge flaming woks. You can choose from a large variety of spices and oils and the boom, the whole wok explodes in fames right in front of you. I never get tired of witnessing that. I would rate this restaurant as world class in its cleanliness, value for money, ambience and great friendly service. This isn't just eating. It's an experience. If I could give 6 stars, I would. There is nothing like it. You have to try it!

Me and my husband chose to go here while visiting the area as it was different and there's nothing like this where we live. Beautiful food and set up, lady serving us was fantastic and explained how things worked and was very attentive and friendly. The views over the canal are beautiful. Cannot recommend the place highly enough and if we visit the area again we will definitely be back.

Re visited not been since pre covid so wasn't sure what to expect. Wasn't disappointed the place has had a make over and looks bright and airey. Also changed it so you have cards to fill in what sauces you want etc rather than deciding when you get to the wok. Still go up to choose your own veg and meat etc but then you leave your plate and card and they bring it back to your table. Still have suggestions on back of cards what works together. Great choice of meats and vegetables all looking fresh. Our server was friendly and made us feel at ease Food was delicious and cooked well I wouldn't have liked been behind the woks tonight it was rather a warm day 🥵 guys did a great job. Hopefully won't leave it as long before back again

We have been coming here for nearly 20 years!!! Since our 1st visit we have never had a bad meal here, they cater for everyone. I love that they have Quorn or more recently not chick'n, my husband loves the wide range of meat choices....

We had been meaning to go to the restaurant having moved into Sowerby just before lockdown, but obviously covid spoiled that. We tried their takeaway service. Ultimate sharing box, salt and pepper chicken- absolutely fantastic. Can tell it's freshly made and it is so tasty. We have the cheesecake trio for pudding which is also amazing. We keep coming back- really nice food and a nice addition to the local area.

It's christmas eve 2020. I've ordered £50 worth of food for my family for a nice christmas eve treat. I ordered at 2pm for a delivery to he made at 6pm. (That's 4 hours) They sent a driver to the wrong address, a driver who couldn't speak a word of English. I tried my best, running round my street trying to find him only for him to give up and put the phone down and turn his phone off.I rang the restaurant for them to tell me it's a "just eat problem" and that there was "nothing temijuns can do" So, I posted a review on facebook which resulted in the owner of temijuns David Johnson calling me, who only echoed the words "it isn't our fault" and he made no efforts in supplying my family with the food I paid for. In fact,the only compensation I was offered was a 48 hour refund.So I guess me and my family will go hungry this christmas eve. Do not trust the reviews you see on their Facebook. They just block you if you leave a negative one so it's no longer visible. Let's see if they can delete this one on trip advisor. Worst service from a takeaway I have ever had. 0/10. I'd give even less than that if I could.

We ordered a delivery to support a local business. The delivery charge was £5 and when the food arrived the portions were tiny, tasted ok but nothing special and ridiculously overpriced. I am so shocked that they have stayed in business. As much as I’d like to carry on supporting local businesses, this one I will not be going back to.

Been here before and the food never fails to impress me. We are in bad times but the staff are amazing and cheerful the food is second to non and the hospitality is the best if you want amazing food at great prices with amazing service then this is the place too be

Covid rules and regulations adhered to in high standard.food was excellent so much choice ,all fresh and cooked to perfection, the vegetables were al dente and how they are professionally to be,sauces and oils that accommodate the varieties of meats, defo worth a visit ,we will return very soon .a concept that makes the restaurant one of the best in halifax. You collect your own veggies and meat, go to the kitchen, choose your oils and sauces, and get them to fry it up in front of you. Three foot flames and the rest. Really good fun and so tasty. My tip, ask the chefs what combinations work.

We'd been looking to try new restaurants during the August discount period. Absolutely chose the best place. Very professional service. The atmosphere was relaxed and not over crowded. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered starters and prawn crackers. All the food was fresh and well presented. Using the self service platter was great. Disposal gloves were available. Every dish was delicious and hot. Definitely be going back for another visit. First timers but not last timers.

Food was fabulous as always. Really fresh, super tasty and very quick service! It was also great to see a restaurant that has put so many precautions in place for everyone's safety and where the staff also follow the rules perfectly. The chefs and waiting staff were all really welcoming but a special shout out goes to the lovely Yeva . Returned for our first meal under Covid restrictions....... it was just as good as ever!!!!!!! They’ve made it sooo safe, going beyond the basics to make people feel safe, BUT they’ve not lost any of the atmosphere or stir fry choice..... can’t wait for our next visit!!

Amazing Takeaway. We hired a barge from Sowerby Bridge and ordered from here tonight on our last night. The food was so good we have talked about driving down from Leeds for a meal. The sweet corn fritters and this is not chicken are highly recommended. Simply amazing food we will be back!

First time going to Temujin for my Auntys birthday and was really impressed! Heard all good things about it from other people and will Definatley going back! Didn’t understand how it worked but the waitress explained it over for us again and once we understood it we went to the buffet and picked our food and was cooked really quickly! Great service and great food and will Definatley go back!!

During the lockdown we had tried this restaurant for the first time, using their delivery service. The food was piping hot, and the servings were big (all the more for the next day as well ). Used this service several times, and was never disappointed, so when we were able to book a table and go to the restaurant we thought we would give it a go. The service we received when we arrived was great. The staff were friendly, and explained how things worked, like the one way system etc. Having the choice of ingredients in front of us was, and a chance to try different meats was great. The only down side we could find was having to take our dessert home (didn’t want to miss out on the amazing cheesecake), as we were stuffed from the buffet. Can’t wait to go back again and would certainly recommend.

We went last night for our first meal out since lockdown. Having been many times before we were really looking forward to it and weren't disappointed! The measures they have taken are working really well. We phoned when we arrived to check they were ready for us and had temperature checks when we went in. You can still choose your own ingredients but don't have to wait for it to be cooked which definitely works better us as it means you can sit and chat more. The staff were lovely as usual and observed social distancing at all times

This restaurant has been a family favourite for approximately 18 years now. We visit every 6weeks or so (would be more often but it’s a 55mile round trip from our home!) We have never been disappointed. We love trying different combinations of food and sauces to come up with different fabulous tasting stir fry’s. Even after all these years we still manage to find different combinations and of course we also have some old time favourites as well. We like that we can have lots of small portions so we can experiment with different tastes. We visited yesterday for my sons birthday and I was very impressed with the extra covid 19 health and safety precautions in place to protect customers and staff. I felt very safe in the restaurant and social distancing was easily achieved.

1st visit back since reopening and as always it was amazing. Great covid measures in place to keep everyone safe. 10/10 would recommend to anyone I know :)

We ordered a delivery from Temujin for my partner’s birthday using their delivery app - the app is very easy to use and you can customise every part of your stir-fry. The food was delivered perfectly on time and hot - only confusing aspect was that we ordered in advance for a specific time and received a confirmation email stating that delivery would be ‘as soon as possible’ but a quick phone call cleared that up. The meal was delicious; we ordered regular sized meals and the portions were large without being over the top, everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered a second time barely a week later - second time delivery was a little slower but this was to be expected as it was a Saturday night, and the food still arrived hot and tasting fresh. Looking forward to visiting in person after lockdown!

We had our first takeaway this weekend and I can't recommend Temujin enough!We've ordered from a few different restaurants recently and this was the best we've had by far Tasty food and large portions. Great veggie options too. We ordered through the app which was really straightforward and it was well packaged and hot when it arrived. We can't wait to order again!

This place is the best. Got a delivery takeout for my lockdown birthday. Came early. Food was very hot. You get a lot for your money and the quality of the food was very fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed by myself, my husband and my son. Thank you Temujin

Since Lockdown this has been the best take away that we have had. Many places have gone from restaurants to take aways but this is the only place we have returned to. Quality tasting food & hot too. Hoping that they keep the take aways after lockdown ends.

Used the app. Quick and easy to use. Food arrived hot and well packaged. It was very tasty. We were all happy. I would recommend. Vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat and fish.

Always been a regular visitor to temujin but rarely partook in starters as it’s all you can eat and with such variety it seems a waste when both me and the kids usually only have two plates. As it’s obviously a different set up for takeaways we have been ordering a starter platter for us all as well as our individual stir fry’s (love that we have a choice of kids/regular and large, each size perfect for different members of our family) and we love everything on there, (kids love the duck rolls and halloumi, I love the Brie and daddy loves the lot!) it’s so lovely and generous sized that we always have stir fry for lunch the next day (the benefit of knowing your food is cooked fresh to order) A very popular treat in our house and highly recommend, ordering and delivery has always gone smoothly too.

We love coming here normally to sit in... but with all this madness due to everyone on lockdown we got a takeaway and we could not fault it it was beautiful like always and plenty of it i was stuffed but could not stop eating it haha.

Had my first visit and can’t wait to go back again. I love the experience of the endless stir fry. So many options to choose from leaves you wanting more. The selection of veg and meat was all fresh and well stocked up and watching the chefs at work was part of the fun. The food was delicious and we even squeezed in some delicious cocktails and desserts.

A really unique dining experience. Fresh flavoursome food served HOT! Great skills from the chefs. As the food is cooked fresh and live there is sometimes a small queue but you use this time to socialise and watch the show. Plus it gives you chance to choose your flavours. Because you can choose different flavour combinations it’s like going out for lots of different meals all in one go! Truly love it!

Had an brilliant experience at Temujin over Xmas on a team do. We were so well looked after by the staff and the food choices was excellent. Will definitely go again and can’t wait to take my teenagers, think they will love the variety.

Where do I start we have been coming here for more than 10 years and as always the food was amazing but this visit was made that little bit more special as Father Christmas was giving present to the children (at no extra cost I might add) staff still happy and friendly even though it was Christmas Eve it’s was AMAZING as ever

We rang up on a Monday evening for a spur of the moment date night and it was lovely and quiet. The waitress was very attentive l, answering our questions and making is feel welcome throughout and we were very impressed by the young female chef working whose talent and flair was outstanding! All staff were welcoming and helpful and food was just perfect. We tried zebra and kangaroo for the first time along with our favourite steak and seafood bits. We had a wonderful evening finished off with desserts and Bailey's hot chocolates. Just divine, thank you!

I had been wanting to try this place for a while after recommendations from friends. I’m very glad we did! The choice of meats and vegetables for selection was plentiful and all very fresh and tasty. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive explaining the procedure as none of us had been before. All in all as a small group we were very impressed and will be returning in the not too distant future!

Temujin is a restaurant I was introduced to at the beginning of this year and is one I try revisit as often as possible, the food is always fresh, there is a large range of ingredients and it is always delicious. You are able to go up as many times as you want to choose from the large range of vegetables meat and meat alternatives. Once you have filled your plate you go to the wok station and choose oil, sauces and toppings for your dish and it is then cooked in front of you. Such a good atmosphere and definitely will return.

I have just sat and watched the young cooks at Temujin cooking up a real treat, both to eat and to watch. Stir-fry perhaps sounds a bit dull, but this isn’t stir fry like any other. A huge range of ingredients that you select for yourself, together with an array of oils and sauces to choose from makes for a really different meal out. But, I was perhaps most entranced by the “flaming woks” sending flames up to the ceiling. Eat as much as you like, and really friendly staff. All in all, a really enjoyable experience.

I'm a vegetarian and really loved having so many choices of vegetables and also tofu to stir fry. I liked the Penang sauce best, so spicy but delicious!

I love the fact that you can take your own selection of ingredients to the wok from the trays they provide and then have them freshly stir fried right there in front of you.

Came here for a family birthday with a big group. It’s nice if you’re after something a bit different but I feel like it could be better. We didn’t get starters and headed to the buffet bar which has a great selection of veg and meats - even quorn and tofu. You then head to the chef where theres different oils, sauces and garnishes to choose from and the chef cooks it all up in a wok. I feel like it would be helpful if there were some suggestions for what makes a good combination. As there was a few in our group and others in the restaurant there was quite a queue cor the cooking where you’re standing with a plate of raw meat,I had three dishes all different and they were nice but nothing amazing that I’d rush back for. the sticky toffee pud was really good though! It came to roughly £30 per person with the buffet a drink and dessert.

We visited TEMUJIN tonight and had a fantastic meal with excellent service to match. Food was top notch, cooked to perfection and the fried rice accompaniment was light, fluffy and delicious. Service was friendly and quick and the line at the cooking station moved rapidly. A great place to eat, we will certainly be back!

Re visited last sunday and wasnt disappointed. Food fresh and always lots to choose from love how they make sure they have different meats for you to choose from. Love how the guys help you decide what oils etc go with your choice. Staff are always friendly and restaurant is always clean and tidy.

Haven't been here for a few years and decided to go on the spur of the moment. Why change a winning formula.....they haven't!! Still using super fresh ingredients and really tasty sauces. We all made up several stir fries with varied oils, sauces and garnishes. Green lipped mussels, venison, squid, tuna, beef, chicken.....amongst others. Will be back again soon.

Thought i'd done this review that's why so long ago. We stayed in Sowerby bridge for the weekend for our 30th wedding anniversary. On the sat we booked to go to the restaurant. One word Wow, absolutely loved the experience of this visit, the restaurant, the food, staff and service where excellent and cant wait to go again

This is my sons favourite restaurant and we come here every year on his birthday. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially when asking what oils go with each meat product. The kangaroo is gorgeous and the mussels are massive! Our party consisted of different ages and this restaurant suited everyone. The puddings are gorgeous too. We had a great night. We will be back soon.

Far East buffet cooked in front big you . Ingredients far too close together , pork next to beeffisg ect . Cross contamination undoubtedly happens . Apart from that . Not that bad at all . But not that good either.

Been coming here for years and still love it. There's an endless combination of things to try and beautiful, fresh ingredients to choose from. Such a unique concept too - great fun and a fab place to bring visitors to!

We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened nearly 30 years ago & have never been disappointed. Always plenty of choice, knowledgeable & friendly staff & great food.

What a great place for food lovers who like something different and that you can create yourself and chose how you would like it cooked. Once you have chosen your food you can stand back and watch the chefs cook your stir fry with flair sometimes the flames hit the ceiling

We visited on a busy Saturday night, the staff were very attentive and welcoming. We had the endless stir fry and it was excellent, a wide variety of meats were available to choose from to make different combinations with a great choice of sauces, oils and garnishes. The chocolate fudge cake is to die for! Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again!

We loved this place as always. We had a starter this time which whilst absolutely delicious, did take up a bit too much room that should have been left for trying more stir fry flavours! Recommend the black bean and garlic sauce and the swordfish from the selection!

Friendly, helpful staff. The upturned shield gives so much variety of foods and flavours. Good for experimenting to suit your own taste. We shall continue our regular visits on our own, with friends and with family.

Want to try something a little different, then this is the place to be. The staff are so friendly and the food totally delicious. A wonderful family friendly place.

Been going to this place for 15+ years. Love it! Fresh food, know what’s in it and seeing it cooked in front of me.. my wife as a severe wheat allergy and can easily eat here with great choice
