Taz Restaurant Rettendon in Chelmsford

Having done a Taste Test in August at Taz- which was great - I bought 14 lady friends to celebrate a Big Birthday for one. Super meal - everyone agreed! - super friendly staff - everyone agreed! Lovely atmosphere - everyone agreed! - thank you all for making it a special day !

This restaurant is amazing! When I lived in Wickford I could not find a restaurant that was refined, elegant and delicious with friendly staff. BUT I found this little gem of a restaurant in Rettendon. My granddaughter had her 16th birthday meal there and what a treat. I would say it’s not a place to go with children as it is definitely geared for adults. However, they did have a highchair for the one year old the staff were so friendly and kind to the children - popping along to speak with them and having a little joke with the little ones. In fact ALL the staff were so friendly but not over the top. Even the owner turned up and checked in with all the guests in his wonderful charismatic way - my grandson loved it. I’m sure he’s his hero now! It’s the first time I’ve written a review the day after as I’m still thinking what a great place it was! The food was clean and delicious. The flavours worked so beautifully and what a brilliant extensive menu as well. My granddaughter and daughter are vegetarian and my grandson is autistic and only eats beige food. So I always worry that they won’t have many options to choose. There were plenty for the veggies ! My grandson only wanted bread and they bought out warm fresh bread , basket after basket until he’d had enough and didn’t charge for it! What a place ! I can’t wait to go back.

A wonderful restaurant with delicious food. The staff are all very welcoming, attentive and friendly. In fact I don't think I've ever been looked after in a restaurant so well. Highly recommended.

This place is a real good spot in Essex a lovely cocktail bar as you walk in to have a pre meal drink and maybe after . The food and the ambiance is really good with lovely friendly staff .

First visit to Taz, was recommended to come here and can now see why. Fantastic service, excellent value lunch menu and amazing food. We both ate from the set lunch menu, wide range of choice and good portions. Good choice for vegetarians and really good selection of non alcoholic drinks. We were made to feel very welcome by all staff. Can’t wait to come back!

It was our first visit to Taz to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we could not have had a better night out. The service is the most friendly and professional; nothing is too much trouble and everything is done to ensure you have a perfect meal. The quality of the food is of the very highest standard and the menu is very impressive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the music and atmosphere on the night were wonderful. Very many thanks to everyone at Taz for making our celebration so special; we will definitely be returning with family and friends. We cannot recommend Taz highly enough for a fine dining experience.

Just have a really very nice lunch at Taz, very hospitable service and the food was great. We had bread with dips and hummus for the table as starters, the four of us all really enjoyed our food and surroundings. I personally went for the mixed grill with rice no salad it was delicious. Then the rice pudding for pud. Along with a couple of pints of Efes, an Irish coffee and a complimentary Bailys from the staff. The bill was very reasonable too. Thank you very much Taz, we will be back.

Beautiful restaurant and fabulous food. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, excellent service throughout the evening. Our daughter absolutely loved it, will definitely return.

I can’t get enough of this place! We have visited many times and it remains as good as the last - if not getting better, this time we came for dinner and to celebrate my son’s 17th birthday. Food was outstanding - I had the Seabass which was filleted in front of me and absolutely delicious, probably the best fish I have had in a restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their starters and mains. Mehmet is an absolute delight, such a tentative and friendly waiter. Everyone you come across at Taz can’t do enough for you. They wished my son happy birthday with a candle in his dessert and decorated plate. We all had a wonderful evening and we will see you again soon. Please don’t leave this restaurant without trying the cheesecake either! 😍

Love it here. This was our 2nd time. Welcome and service excellent as usual, Mehmet looked after us well. A couple of negatives music was very loud plus I thought the seafood grill was a little expensive for what I had, the king prawns still had their shells on. No other complaints everybody else enjoyed what they had. Will return and try something else

Second time of going to Taz and I must admit it wasn't as good as the first time and I was really disappointed. Service is spot on there is always someone there to ask for drinks etc. We felt rushed we decided to go for a main and dessert so we ordered, our drinks came out but my wine was warm so they gave me some ice which I don't mind at all. Bread came out and within 2 mins so did the mains. My food was ok I had the same as the time before as I loved it but it just wasnt as nice, my husband had the chicken shish which he loved. They took the plates and swapped them with dessert menus I hadn't even let my food go down and we had by this point only been seated for 30 mins! It was lunch and a late lunch so I don't know what the major rush was, they came to ask if we wanted dessert I said I might in a while as I had just eaten but they took the menu away so we didn't bother. Also it was sooooooo loud, I love the music etc in there but I couldn't hear what my husband was saying opp me. We wont be back.

Went here for my daughter's 18th birthday last Friday night. Exceptional food and service from everyone. Very attentive waiters and lots of attention for my daughter. The food is amazing. Thank you so much for bringing out the cake and for the extra special cocktail. We were a large table of 12 but no one had to wait to for anything. Had a fabulous lunch today at Taz with some friends from London. The atmosphere was really buzzy and the food was so tasty and reasonably priced. All the staff were as usual friendly and attentive but we would like to give a special mention to our lovely waiter Murat who took such good care of us

I took my partner here for his birthday, my 3rd visit & his first, he was so impressed & actually said it was the best restaurant he had been too in the UK. The food was amazing & the staff are so attentive & nothing is too much trouble. We had the 3 course lunch menu, such a wide choice & great value. Well done “TAZ” & we will be back soon to try another delightful dish.

What can I say, yet another amazing day. Celebrated three special occasions now at Taz and has never failed to wow my friends and family. The service & attentiveness is superb and the food is to die for. Everyone who has been has been well impressed, I'm back again for more celebrations next month. A must, you won't be disappointed!

really good we have been before our family hadn’t and it was nice to take them there , our experience was again very good , last time our waiter wasn’t that great but this time we had Mehmet absolute gent was very good attentive but not intrusive. There was five of us and couldn’t fault anything.

We booked this restaurant for a friend's birthday, as she had always wanted to try it. We all had the most amazing lunch here today. The service was impeccable from start to finish. I have been to a few Turkish restaurants in Essex and this has to be my new favourite. The food was delicious and we were all happy with our menu choices. I had the moussaka, which was delicious. The warm pitta bread served with 2 dips before we ate was so yummy. Upon paying the bill we was offered a lemoncillo or Baily's complementary which was also a lovely touch. Thank you Taz we will be back and recommending to friends and family.

I have been here a few times now and everytime it’s spot on. The food and service is always perfect. It’s always busy so there’s a good atmosphere, anytime of day. Taz and the team make you feel welcome. I had the chicken shish recently and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.
