Mutton tikka was too hard and chewy.. Meat pilau is very average and meat is hard as well. Complained to the waiter but no response or refund offered. Lucky I didn't get tummy upset. Not sure what happened but food quality is not as good as it used to be.

I was looking forward to eating here for a while. However, most of the bad reviews are true. Food: Bland, cold and worst of all - we ordered starters and mains. 30 seconds after the starters came out the mains started to arrive??! Staff: The bad review unfortunately are true - rude and uninterested. Decor and ambience: Crammed tables, ripped and old seats with poor facilities which was probably the only authentic part of this restaurant. Price: BYOB with no corkage is a plus. Overall its poor - You only hear of the bad reviews normally so some people must really like it - if you have a eat to live mentality then it probably fine. Me being an live to eat found it disappointing.

Best kebabs and tandoori food. Loved the flavour and the presentation. The kebabs were literally sizzling. The curry was amazing and the peshavari naan as well. Would definitely recommend the mango lassi to go with all the amazing food. Be prepared to eat fast as there is a huge queue of people waiting. We reached a bit early for dinner hence got a table quickly and didnt have to rush but others were not so lucky.

Where do I even start *sigh*. Apparently there is an option to reserve a table at google maps but no one ask for it at the restaurant. I was at a table upon asking for it and had to call someone after waiting for 20 minutes only to hear from them “Oh I thought you had already ordered”. As soon as I ordered, food was brought in within 5 minutes, which looked to me was already cooked beforehand and just reheated. I ordered chicken tikka cubes and Dhal Karahi. Chicken tikka was a 3/10 and Dhal a 1/10. I could only swallow dhal because of onions and chicken tikka. Overall, a very bad experience and don’t plan on visiting them again.

Great atmosphere. It feels like you are in a different country. Good food especially the naan bread. The fact you can bring your own drinks is a great touch. The chicken tikka pieces were good so was the seehk kebab. The staff were attentive. I ordered the lamb chop marsala and it was swimming in oil so that was disappointing for me. The rest of the food I enjoyed. The naan is so fluffy and addictive. I could eat 5 it was that good. I didn't mention I review food when visiting so my experience was totally authentic. The salad was not great lacked life in my opinion. Lots of famous bollywood people have visited the restaurant. They didn't offer tap water they said they only offer bottles water which you pay for. That's the first time I have gone to a restaurant that as refused tap water. The cost of living crisis in the UK is real right now I think the policy on tap water should change. The place is well known and popular. It's always buzzing with a good vibe. They also offer a vip area.

Was very disappointed by the service and the food wasn’t much better. On arrival we were given a table right near the kitchen area thus were gasping for air as the smoke from the grilling was hitting us. Also we were sat near a rowdy bunch of ’bring your own alcohol’ clientele. Even though there were plenty of other tables and they could tell we were Muslim (by the way we were dressed). Why doesn’t common sense prevail the staff? Then the chair that I sat on was ripped to bits. When I brought it to the waiter’s attention he didn’t have the initiative to change it. The music was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other. Finally one of the items we ordered was Dhal Kerela and I’d say 70% was dhal! So maybe not ideal for families and also avoid sitting where we were put especially if you don’t also want your clothes smelling of the grill. Also consider taking ear plugs as it felt like we were in a nightclub. Poorly managed and poorly run.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Curries and Mixed Grill in Whitechapel! Tayyabs is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious and authentic Pakistani cuisine in Whitechapel. This bustling, vibrant restaurant is always alive with energy, and the lively atmosphere adds to the overall experience. The mixed grill is a highlight, featuring perfectly spiced and tender meats that are grilled to perfection. Each bite is packed with flavor and leaves you wanting more. The curries at Tayyabs are simply outstanding. Rich, aromatic, and bursting with authentic spices, they are some of the best I've ever had. Whether you're a fan of fiery heat or prefer something milder, there's a curry here for everyone. Despite the restaurant often being loud and busy, the service is efficient and friendly, making sure you're well taken care of. Tayyabs is the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or family, where you can indulge in fantastic food in a lively setting. It's easy to see why it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Highly recommended!

First time at Tayyabs. I had heard a lot about it over the years and finally had the opportunity to go. All I can say was that it was an experience and not a great one! We had made a booking for 6 people at 8pm on a Friday night but only managed to be seated at the table for around 8.25 pm. The place was utter mayhem. Hordes of walk ins, bookings, all crammed inside and outside, one manic restaurant manager running around trying to organise people’s tables. I was there with my elderly mother and aunt, who both use walking sticks. When I asked if our table was ready on arrival, the manager had asked why I had not mentioned that I required special assistance, as they had booked our table upstairs. As I had never been to Tayyabs before and it was not mentioned on the website if I required seating downstairs, I did not realise this was something I needed to do. Anyway, the restaurant asked us to wait whilst they organised a table downstairs. When I finally found the manager after 15mins, amongst the crowds of customers waiting to be served and enquired about how long it would take, I got told by the manager that the table was being prepared and that if I asked again, he would cancel my booking!! I was ready to leave at that point, but realising it would be difficult to find somewhere else with two elderly people with walking difficulties, we decided to stay. Once we were seated at the table, the food came very fast. We had their famous lamb chops which tbh, were quite tough but ok flavour wise. We enjoyed the paneer tikka and the grilled king prawn starter. The elders liked the Friday special Lamb biriyani. But I would not recommend the masala fish which had a very odd sweet and soapy taste and the mango lassi which was just a jug full of foam. Overall the food was ok in an old school curry house kind of way and the service improved later as we had a dedicated waiter who looked after us. Other than that, it wasn’t cheap, £165 for 6people and no alcohol. Would I go again? Not sure I would.

Went here yesterday for my sisters birthday and had an awful experience. Firstly when I arrived I found the staff to not be very welcoming. After arriving we was seated at our table. We was sat for quite a while with no offer of a drink. We placed our order and the lady who took it was clearly struggling with understanding what we wanted as we was having to repeat ourselves several times. When we was asking staff regarding the dishes on the menu they didn’t even seem to know themselves much about the food served. Our food came out separately and I was eating rice and bread for at least 30 mins before the curry I ordered arrived.. There was no plates or cutlery on the table when the food came out we had to ask several times. The manager was very rude and unhelpful. I was also violently sick and unwell after my visit. Saw a review of this place on Gary Eats YouTube channel and decided to traverse my way over for lunch. Very friendly place, with prompt service and excellent food. Never had lamb chops like that before very tasty. My only criticism would be that they bring everything at once. For example, I ordered a starter, which arrived followed about two minutes later by the main. I do understand they are very popular and it is obvious why but that was a little bit of a let down. It felt slightly rushed but I'm probably nit-picking. On a side note I had starter, main with rice, a drink and a poppadum for under £40 which is very reasonable for not just London but anywhere given the quality of the food.

Not as good as we remember. We booked a table for two and were immediately offered poppadoms. We ordered two, they tasted old as if they had been sitting there for a long time. They were also soft. We sent them back explaining. They then brought 2 again but this time dripping with oil and slightly burnt around the edge as of they had taken the same and put them in a high heat frying pan. They were still also soft. When we complained again they then said the weather is causing them to be soft. I then asked if the poppadoms sit outside. It was a very wet day. We ordered their dry meat as a main which is our favourite. A large portion for the both of us. The meat was tough and some pieces were fatty. It tasted no different to a mutton curry. It really was disappointing. We have been here a few times before and the food was top quality. This is why we continue to return. We have no idea what has happened but needless to say, we saw different people receive more attention and were probably served different quality food. I'll leave it to you to work that one out. Tayyabs, don't become too complacent otherwise they'll be another business or someone else looking to produce something better. Complacency when it comes to good quality food is very unwise for any business. Bring back your tasty, quality food. Just because you don't recognise a face it doesn't we haven't previously visited and know what you can produce.

When we reached restaurant they told you are allowed only 1hour 30min to finish your dinner after that you have to leave which is no where mentioned in there website. We ordered chicken tikka and chicken tandoori which came within second of our order. It’s like already ready they are just putting on gas and serving. Chicken tikka was half cocked and chicken tandoori was below average taste. Chicken biryani is not available on all day. Mutton biryani came within second of order. It’s like race.. open your mouth and keep dumping everything. You cannot enjoy food and taste is also bad. We have not finished our food and they start clearing plate. Frankly we stayed for less than 1 hour. I understand you need to serve all customer but for that you cannot degrade quality and service. Why cannot you put start and end time at the time of booking and put some timer on table if you have so much concern on time. Staff were also very rude and always show attitude. At the end they ask for tip and he was standing on our head Like we should not runaway without giving tip. It’s just over hype restaurant. We call it uchi dukaan fika pakvan.

I'm not too sure how this place got a decent reputation, it's not packed because I suppose people have already been here and won't go again. The tables are incredibly cluttered with far too many things . Then they bring you without asking for a large carafe of tap water to even more cluttered up the table . It's an open kitchen so ok you can see the chefs do their thing but it doesn't help that the smoke from the kitchen wafts across into the dining area which is great . The service goes from super quick to nowhere . The papadoms are really greasy and not appetising at all. These come with more stuff to put on the table . The Mango chutney is like gulp and the salad is all coriander tbh . The lamb chops were really grisly with no real meat on them . The prawn curry was really oily to the point it ruined it . The prawns are not great either . My partner's veg curry was so spicy although being not labelled as spicy she had to ask 3 times to finally get some yoghurt to tame it . The nans were greasy too. . The salty lassi was an experience , not my thing but my partner loved it . The price wasn't too bad but I've had better from a takeaway . Unless you love coriander which seems to be everywhere don't go.

Never received the order. This has never happened before. They never even left the food outside the house.

As an outsider I consider myself a backyard connoisseur of Indian food. This spot was utterly incredible, highly recommended by two separate people I met in London, and I had to give it a try. The service was amazing and made my trip to England so special. Most US spots don't have Peshwari naan and pilau rice together, so I made sure to treat myself. Located in the historic Whitechappel neighborhood - you will not want to miss this place.

Not the same Tayyabs of yesteryear. BYO means you'll get all sorts of booze in there. Feels more like a pub restaurant than an authentic Pakistani restaurant. No locals or ethnic people dine there anymore. Food is still good however. Avoid and go somewhere else if you want an authentic experience.

All their meat curries contain dairy , no idea why. Also the food was so so. I won’t personally come back here again. I will stick to Lahore Kebab House I think. Even the prices r a bit on the high side. Very disappointed overall. Only saving Grace was that I was with family.

At Tayyabs, a meal through bustling Whitechapel, transported to an evening at Local Indian Dhaba. The thick air with conversation, clatter of plates against kadhai, sizzling on tawa, cracking of papads. The aroma lingers, clinging to clothes and leaves stains on fingertips. Kadhai Chiken, Shammi kabab, Garlic naan, Tandoori roti and yogurt, mango and tomato chutney. Special mention Dahi ki chutney with fresh mint-coriander-Ajwain and GulabJamun. Mera to ho gaya!!!

Hi I am a single parent with 3 children I placed a take away order 2 weeks ago the food was off didn't smell fresh my kids didn't eat anything. When I made a complaint regarding the order the manager was very rude to me over the phone and put the phone down on me. Yesterday I went to the restaurant with my 3 children the same manager was rude again and didn't serve the food to us because I made a complain to them so they didn't like it. I had to leave the restaurant without eating the food and I literally cried and was humiliated in front of other's. My kids were very upset and dishearted yesterday's incident. I was very upset yesterday and had severe anxiety attack and I ended up going to hospital. I wish had never gone to the restaurant.

Food here is really decent actually. Very busy though and service certainly could be better. Having said that, I'd be happy to return.

Known for its grilled food, The seek kebabs and nanns were the highlight - they were excellent, lamb chops which were my favorite previously were not so great, barely any meat on them and not tender, chicken tandoori and tikka was average. Had not visited for years after a bad experience with service - service was excellent this time, but Tyaabs is such an institution and was my favorite place to go for a long time, so gave it another go, but have to say not as great as I remember.

Very busy restaurant and you are packed in. But the food was excellent and the servings were generous. For London it was not to expensive.

Food has gone down hill and expensive. However it was the service that let it down. Asked if we can have tap water as jug of mango lassi wasn't going to quench our thirst. Was told they don't do tap water..tap water is readily available in uk and drinkable. When the nan bread arrived we tried to make room for it on the table but the waiter just gave me the nan bread and the plate we v hot so I said the plate is hot n burning my hand. He just smirked and walked off Just found the waiter had an issue with my table of 3. The guy who was maybe in charge of him was better. However our spoilt our experience. My guests had come from overseas to try curry and this was awful service. We were also made to feel we had to leave after we eaten..I thought it was to free up the table because they were busy but there was no body waiting. If they hadn't pushed us to leave they may have made more money as my guests decided they wanted some dessert and teas. I won't be going there again. A sad institution that has bad staff.

I returned to Tayyabs recently after nearly a decade. Despite a decade going by, it remains extremely busy, if even more busy. The restaurant's large size means you'll likely get a table relatively quickly, and the food arrives quickly. Some of the curry dishes are quite good, and it's a BYOB spot if that's your preference. However, the food overall is mediocre compared to other East London places. The service is virtually non-existent, with staff focused on rapid table turnover – so don't get too comfortable at your table! The atmosphere is chaotic and overwhelming as a result. Overall, there are far better dining options available.

Great food very tasty and flavoursome We book a table for 20 but only 18 turned up but charged us for 20 people. Waiters are little bit rude and not fluent in English language My visit was spoiled by the fact it is halal restaurant but allows customers to bring their own alcohol and allow them to use the restaurant glasses, not very halal It’s all or nothing Further disappointment was they rushed the food and did not allow us to have the full restaurant experience when trying to meet with work colleagues who have travelled from the northern office, furthermore once the food was finished we were asked to leave rather than allow us to finish our drinks

Delicious curry with authentic flavours, all freshly cooked. Recommend the lamb chops, Karahi chicken, karahi king prawn (generous portions so small portion is more than enough), karahi mixed vegetable, the naan, the roti and to finish off the mango Kulfi ice cream. Great service. Thank you to the team.

This place has to be the worst place I’ve ever been to. The waiter was extremely rude swore at me and even shouted at me, when I queried why he was not willingly to leave the receipt on our table. The reason I asked for the receipt is because we were a large group and one member of the group had to leave therefore they needed to pay before going. Anyway the waiter couldn’t understand that all we were asking is to be able to mark what was paid for but obviously as this individual was a neanderthal and uneducated they couldn’t grasp the information. When I proceeded to say I will take a picture of the receipt and then he could take it he became extremely aggressive and even tried intimidating me. This place is disgusting. I complained to the manger who literally could not care less and proceeded to say well what can I do. It is the most atrocious place. When I returned to my seat the man tried to square up to me as if he was going to hit me. All male staff members who pick on the female customer. Literally the most awful food I have had. They have filthy plates and cutlery too. Disgusting. They include the service charge into the food prices as they know their service is the worst service you’ll ever receive. Honestly disgusting food and disgusting service. DO NOT EAT HERE. Save yourself the hassle and eat anywhere else in London. Walk down the road and you’ll find plenty of brilliant Asian cuisine. But you guys do you :) hope this saves someone the money and hassle. Take it easy and happy Eatting to all.

Bit of a weird experience. We were denied tap water, even though other guests at other tables were given a jug of tap water. We asked for it, but they said that we were in the VIP section, so we could only have expensive bottled water. We hadn't asked to be VIPs, so we asked to move, but they said we couldn't move. Just baffled as to what their reasons were to be honest, and they refused to tell us. Had about 3 debates with them but they didn't budge. One waitress snuck us a glass of water - clearly not the waiting staff's fault but coming from the managers. The food was pretty decent, quite oily but if you like grills quite nice. But the service, and the fact we left the restaurant dehydrated as a crisp really killed the vibe 😆 . Won't be going back for sure.

DOESN’T EXIST !! Just spent 20 minutes looking for it and couldn’t find anything! Asked staff of Spitalfields markets and they had no clue either! If it is there it’s extremely misleading and unclear.
