Taylors Fish Bar in Wealden

I drove past one fish bar locally and it was empty this one had a queue of 6 waiting, and for good reason. I joined the queue and got cod and chips within 5 mins( four staff). They deserve credit because it was good quality fish and I had so many chips I couldn't eat them all.

We had an awkward order but the staff were so good about it and the food was delicious!

I usually use Taylor's fish bar, but recently the batter was under cooked. They were busy so maybe trying to rush orders out. I'll continue to use them.

Pay for a meal for others less fortunate, Wish more places offered this service What a great idea

Popped in last night for some chips and the service was lovely, friendly and full of smiles. I didn’t have to wait at all and the chips were delicious and hot. Excellent service. I’ve had fish and chips here from the past and really enjoyed them so been meaning to leave a review for a while. 💯 recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Our favourite fish and chip shop in the Heathfield area. Kids love it too. The staff are lovely and friendly. We probably come here too much but it's a good value decent meal.

Nemos in the High Street has been even busier since Taylors changed hands. The new owners worked alongside the previous owners of 30 years for a year before taking over, then promptly ruined the best chips you ever tasted! Such a shame... ...since writing this review they've really got their act together, and now I'm pleased to say I can't fault them 😎

This used to be a very good fish and chips shop. Not anymore, they need to change the cooking oil more often. Chips and batter on fish taste rancid 🤮. Been going here since the late 70s, not anymore. Such a shame, will be going elsewhere from now on.

The fish today very disappointed Thick batter top and bottom and the fish very thin. They called this a large cod, I think it was more like a small with thick batter. The two large cods made one.

From the woman out of her depth taking orders to the person overcooking the fish, this place is a no go! Just sub par Chinese fish and chips.

Nicely presented, batter a little thick, a little more liquid in the mix? Very slightly overcooked. Nice and fresh, well drained, overall not bad

They use palm oil - Will not go back for this reason. The fish and chips were not of the standard they used to be.

We moved from the North and had struggled to find a local chip shop that delivered quality food. After trying four other shops we almost gave in but were directed to Taylors by our builder. What can I say! Brilliant fish and chips, friendly staff, excellent service and quality every time.

Fantastic service and quality as usual

Shocking STAY CLEAR ordered food for collection. arrived 2 min late, then spent next 25 mins taking walk in orders and serving them. Asked three different staff and was 'one moment'. then when said I was going to leave after 20 a further min wait and no clue what I had called to order (as I pre ordered and was told to arrive at a set time by them) I was told "ok fine"! so I left. Customer service seems to be an optional extra The other place in Heathfield has better fish also!!

This has always been my favourite chippy in heathfield ( with nemos a very close second) Their chips are my favourite 👍🏼

WOW! First time using Taylors fish bar and we was not disappointed, the fish was beautifully cooked, chips best ever and O.M.G the curry sauce is to die for me and my boyfriend agreed we would get two curry sauces next time as we both couldn't get enough of it 😍 and we will be so returning. If you haven't tried Taylors fish bar please do so your missing out big time 😍😍😍

Phoned ahead to order, a very smooth process. Everything ready on time, well wrapped and order was 100% correct. Used this chip shop many times over the past 10 years food is always great.

Dry saveloys had been there too long, maybe keep them in a warm brine or something in future? The fish was good but the chips seemed like they were reheated, i admit a sunday night may not be a busy time but i want fresh not old stuff. We wont be back now but i hope the owner can improve, the place is VERY clean and the guy was very nice, just lacking all important quality

Rank haddock which could be smelt the moment I unwrapped the oil soaked paper. Phoned to advise of the health risk and after a short conversation and them putting the phone down decided to return in person. Unfortunately the shop was full and after waiting nearly ten minutes to speak to the manager I went to the front of the queue. The manger tried to decline there was anything wrong until I insisted she tried for herself, which she did and quickly spat it out. Then blame her fish supplier... I think the blame should undoubtedly stop at Tayloy's door. Been going to Taylor's for years but this evening will be the last. No way could they have no realised the fish was OFF by its offensive smell before frying it, let alone serving and selling it ..

I used to rate this as the best place to get fish and chips and would drive two miles down the road to buy them. Not now. They use palm oil. The chips were soggy and tasteless. The batter on the fish was soggy too. Sorry to write such a negative review, but I will not be going back here again.

Since my last review this chippy is now top notch, portion sizes have improved along with quality & prices are the cheapest around, keep up the good work guys, a must for any fish & chip enthusiast!!!

I've tried every fish & chip shop within 20 miles form Heathfield and nobody beats "Taylor's". I have been here 40 years and know a bit about the best shops. Huge portions and real value for money and VERY fast service.

A small area in which to eat in if you want to. Fish and chips were fantastic as were the staff. We new the food was going to be good by the number of people coming in to order food. Next time we are visiting in the area we will be definitely be calling in.

Not a bad chippy, portions a bit on the small size, but tasty all the same! Reasonably priced, nothing special but no complaints, your all round traditional chippy!

We went in at about 8:30 (prime dinner time) Chips were bad, can tell they’re leftovers done in dirty oil as we ordered later than usual

We regularly visit Taylors bar and have been buying our fish and chips from here for years. Unfortunately a bad experience yesterday means we will no longer.

Very disappointed- normally a good fish shop but two portions of haddock were, after bringing home 5 Miles, ammonic and unpleasant.
