Taste Of Bengal in Harrogate

2 days ago I complained that I got the wrong order, went in tonight and explained about the mix up. They apologised and gave me my order free of charge. The food is spot on and the service was excellent, would recommend you have a visit 😀

Ordered through app, everything was fine and cleared, then cancelled 15mins later when everywhere else was shut. Scammers, don't offer a service that people will pay for if you can't provide it. Shambles.

The various dishes were lacking in flavour, all dishes tasted virtually the same and the person taking our takeaway order was unpleasant.

We ordered from here for the 1st time last night 1.3.24 both ended up with really bad tummy all night and today both had chicken dishes may be coincidence but strange both of us were poorly

Good choice of food and drinks at a reasonable price

The worst Indian food I've ever had. We ordered chicken korma and butter chicken. Could literally not tell a difference between the two in taste or appearance. They even had the audacity to write different names on each take away container. Both tasted like sugar and milk with a sprinkle of turmeric.

Absolutely dreadful. We ordered Lamb Tikka Masala and the lamb was so tough we couldn’t eat it and also tasted peculiar. We rang to complain but they only argued and told us we had chosen the tough lamb and that they are the best Indian in Harrogate. It states on their website that all food is freshly cooked and yet our order only took 15 minutes to arrive. The person we spoke to was rude and defensive and not prepared to do anything to remedy the situation. Complete waste of money! We will not be ordering again and will also be advising family and friends not to order either

1- cashier seemed annoyed we were there while taking our order. But no one was there? He was annoyed by the only customers in the building. 2- food was flavorless. I didn't know Indian food could be flavorless, but I assure you, taste of Bengal is the flavor of flour with a hint of coconut milk. 3- when we were finished eating, I tried to throw our trash in the dumpster outside.... Where one of the staff yelled at me for doing so. What? Did he just want me to leave it on the street outside of the restaurant? There were no bins inside. Terrible in every measurable way. Unfriendly service for flavorless food.

Used this establishment for years and always been happy, however today curry very late and cold.

I have enjoyed food from this establishment for years but unfortunately tonight’s experience was a utter disappointment food was well bellow the usual standard far too salty to the point where we had to throw it away. If I could have given a -2 If I could very disappointed. Previously I had given a five star!! and support local businesses but very disappointed 😡😡😡😡😡

Ordered food on Sunday night, and was given a delivery time. Food finally turned up half an hour late. It wasn’t very warm and had to be microwaved. Sauce was watery. I was charged for two cans of drink which didn’t arrive. Very disappointed.

Had 2 takeaways from here during a 4 night stay in the Harrogate area. First one was delivery and was a quick service - food was enjoyed by everyone in the group, it was freshly cooked, hot and delicious. Second was a collection and was equally as good. Thank you.

Really great chicken rogan Josh and pilau rice, beautiful. The food was made in good time and fast collection and it was still hot when I got back to my hotel.

Ok food but it has become very expensive, same meal cost us £14 more vs 12 months ago and delivery time has got worse. We will have to find somewhere in future!

Food was excellent. One of the best curries I have had in my near 60 years, and I have had a lot! Quite expensive though, unless £15 for a main with rice is normal for Harrogate?

Just had a takeaway from what was our favourite, Taste of Bengal. Went to collect and instead of £24.95 for set meal for two which we last had about 2 months ago, price was £39.95! A 60% increase. A couple of items had improved but absolutely no justification for that increase. A quick check on the previous and current menus looks like increases between 30% and 45%, simply a rip off. I refused to pay and agreed £28, but we will not go there again. The food quality is good but blaming Covid for increases does not wash. So sad to see this sort of questionable behaviour.

I ordered takeout, it was very tasty. The food was very delicious and high Quality,although the Butter chicken dish was a bit too sweet. We finished all of the food, Would definitely order from there again.

Best takeaway we have had for sometime. Usually I order hotter food as tend to find medium classifications are bland. However the Handi Bhuna was really flavoursome.

I've tried curries from pretty much every curry house In Harrogate, these guys are unbeatable, best curry I've ever had. Without question. Had the Handi Bhuna the first time, then a Korma the second time, the Handi Bhuna was devine.

We don’t normally have take away/deliveries but due to the current climate under covid we decided to order a delivery when we would have normally eaten out. Extremely happy with our choice of supplier. The food was really tasty, not greasy which I find can sometimes be an issue with takeaway food, arrived extremely promptly, in fact 15 minutes earlier than anticipated. We are a ‘hungry’ couple...we shared rice and naan bread, curry each, bhaji’s each and four popadoms.....absolutely more than we required....we will definitely be ordering again, both during in covid-19 and after.....just so you are aware the delivery driver left it on the doorstep and waited for us to collect before leaving....above and beyond....extremely impressed, extremely tasty, extremely swift....thank you

I’ve been a loyal customer for 8 years. I appreciate its bad times for all, but don’t quote 90 minutes delivery and I’m still waiting 180+ minutes later. I won’t be a loyal customer anymore!!!

We ordered today for the first time from here and were very impressed not only the speed of how quickly we got the food but also how nice the food was, good portion sizes and great value for money. I had a korma, garlic naan swell as the mixed grill and I especially loved the onion bargies. I know my family were also equally as pleased! Thankyou for delivering during these uncertain times, stay safe and we will be back

Order cancelled after two and half hour wait. This after ringing two times before and being told the order was with the driver and would be delivered in 5 minutes. They eventually admitted there had been a mix up and it would be another hour if we still wanted the meal. We cancelled and won’t be using again.

Absolutely beautiful food! Onion bhaji with salad and mint sauce, chicken tikka, mushroom pilau and peshwari naan served with a veg curry sauce on the side. Ordered twice now and the food on both occasions was delicious! This is our ‘go to’ Indian takeaway now - can’t wait to try other dishes! Thank you Shaf fab service

It's better than average food but not great. Not expensive / priced about right.

We are local and have ordered food from here many times but after the last time we decided never again! We were overcharged and when we arrived home we discovered that a rice dish was missing. Very poor and we will be going elsewhere from now on.

This mob are a complete joke. Waited 40 minutes for a nan bread, pakora and chicken tikka - the place is a 5 minute walk from my house and the food arrived freezing cold. The nan was cold and soggy. Poor show. I only ordered delivery as I was watching the Champion's League. I let them know how poor this was on facebook was essentially told I only paid £8 and should have been lucky they delivered food to me as they meant to reject my order... When I challenged them on this and suggested they lead with an apology vs a justification for terrible food and service, they deleted my comment. Would never recommend this sh*thole. Go to Zara Spice or Shalimar. Both far superior food and service.

Ordered via deliveroo. Waiting 40 minutes which was made clear at the outset by deliveroo - but the food was ice cold (a cold cheese nan is not appealing!) and the place is literally a 5 minute WALK from my house. I only ordered a delivery because I'm watching football. Thought I'd try it as it's been rebranded from the old Adam's.. Apparently it's still the same, just a different name. Would not recommend - not if theh can't keep a simple nan warm.

Visiting Harrogate for the weekend and after a day sightseeing and shopping plus the late shift at the Turkish Bath 8.30 pm. We were starving! Sunday night so not a lot of choice. Ordered chicken tikka balti, veg pilau, garlic naan, two poppadums. And onion Bhagis. It was all absolutely delicious, hot, and just right spice heat too. Enough to make your lips tingle and your nose run with no lasting damage! Very generous portions. Couldn’t finish everything.

It’s been a very long time since I had food from here so thought I would give it a go. Food was absolutely lovely, piping hot and fresh, curries great, side dishes brilliant also naans lovely, really couldn’t fault the service of the food

Everytime I have been here, the food has been fantastic. Never had an issue and the food has always been great quality.

Ok it was there , round the corner and open on a sunday evening but consensus was very poor. Lacked flavour but that was perhaps our fault as we asked for "not too spicy". Wife had "trouble" the next day.

Wasnt incredible but wasnt bad. Cheap and filling is the best way to describe it.

Good quality restuarant prices for countertop takeaway quality. Flavors are good but the consistency of the sauce is too watery. It's just about okay and too expensive for what it is.

Arrived on time and food was piping hot! Not to mention tasty and not swimming in grease! Can't recommend enough!!

Been using Taste of Bengal for just over two months the food is to die for very tasty. Portion sizes are on the generous side and always piping hot. Menu is extensive and the chefs specials are very appetising. Highly recommend😀😀

Jalfrezi back on form. Telephoned the restaurant last week saying that the sauce was becoming too hot. It's now as it should be - perfect.

food was superb tonight really spicy red hot and really tasty,excellent. keep the level of food to that and I’ll never go anywhere else for a Indian food again highly recommended.

Have to ordered from here in a while so I thought I would give them another try. Disappointed, stingy portion sizes and a price increase. Will not be using again anytime soon.

Curry was ok, and arrived hot, but nothing special. No fresh coriander, not much taste. The onion bhajis pakoras were dreadful. Soggy pieces of chewy batter with absolutely no herbs or spices used, not fried and crispy like thy should be. The garlic naan bread was dry and bland, no garlic at all. And no salt or ghee. Terrible effort. 2/10 will not try again.

I put the wrong address in as I have just moved house so I was wondering where my food was! I called the restaurant and although they had tried to deliver it to my old address twice they still brought it to my house and the food was great! Cheers guys

Best Indian food in a long time

Food was delivered in 20 mins and was really well cooked and tasty. The chicken madras was lovely and so was the rice. Not really a negative but they should maybe look at doing proper Indian chips though as this would be perfect. Great meal, thanks.

The Jalfrezi is getting hotter each week to the point where I will no longer order this dish. I can only assume you have changed chef as the chillies are very different to those used previously. Had to add banana to reduce the chilli strength - a great addition by the way.

very bland food, although well cooked and delivery was excellent.

We have ordered before and were pleased. This time round the food had gone up in price but we still ordered as thought it was worth it.. the food came and the portions werent very big as before, I ordered garlic naan and got regular plain naan and also paid £3.95 for a prawn starter only to recieve just 1 fried king prawn.. and delivery time was also added so it was later than first stated. overall it was ok but over priced.

I've never written a review before but felt I had to. Food was delivered quickly but it was awful. My chicken korma was more like chicken soup with pieces of roast chicken in. It tasted like they cook chicken separately and then heat it up in a sauce. Good quality ingredients but not well put together. Won't be ordering again as it went in the bin.

The best Indian we've had in ages. All cooked perfectly. The chicken tikka was better than I've had from anywhere else in the area. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Good meat. Good portion size. This time they were here in 20 minutes.

Tikka was dry, Madras was hot but meat tasted cheap and overall tasted like a curry yo would buy from Iceland's. I binned it which says a lot as I love curry.

Despite ordering at 5.45 for an 8.30 delivery it was half hour late!! Obviously can't prioritise orders Tried to ring restaurant but couldn't get through and when complained to the delivery driver was rudely told they were busy At NO time did anyone try to contact me with regards to the order The added extras ( salad and raita) were also missing Not the service quality expected

Order 1 item short. Meat not up to usual standard. IE tough and stringy lamb. It usually melts in the mouth. Complained about the missing item. Told next time you order I will get discount. What happens if I don't make another order? I am out of pocket

This is the second time I have ordered from the Taste of Bengal, and as previously the food was absolutely delicious. We had the Chicken Tikka Massala and Butter Chicken. I would definitely recommend them.

Arrived on time as always. Had a few good currys from here however tonights was clap cold and really oily. Refused to replace or refund even partially claimed they didnt have any drivers that could do anything.
