It was a Friday evening and we expected it to be busy, but we were their only customers. It had been busier earlier, because we saw when walked past on our way into the main square for a drink beforehand. Choices were good, food was OK, nothing really standout though but the service was good 👍

We have discovered this Indian takeaway and it is quite possibly the best we have ever experienced (including when we previously lived in Leeds). Really good value and generous portions, great menu and quick service. Could not recommend enough!

Fantastic meal, we called to state our gratitude of our lovely meal with great acceptance from the owner, definitely will be ordering again next week.

I had never tried this place before, always had a sit down in the restaurant next door. Wasn't expecting much tbh as the reviews were a bit mixed. Anyway I tried a Saturday evening takeaway, order included a Chana Ghoust, Handi Lamb, Bombay potatoes, mushroom bhaji, peshwari naan and rice. Have to say I was blown away how good it was, lots of flavour, good amount of heat but without blowing your head away. They even threw in a couple of poppadoms and mango chutney for free. Maybe I caught the good chef!, whatever it was darned good.

Never had a bad curry from here ,been using them for years, food can be slightly different each time, depending which chef is on, but always good, friendly and delivered to the door, even in the snow!

This place does not a consistent chef because I have ordered the same dish on 3 different occasions and it has been different every time. The dish I have ordered has only been acceptable one time. I will never shop here again.

Ordered 2 different dishes and got 2 dishes the same. This takeaway must have different chefs if you can call them that every night. We ordered a main 2 weeks ago and ordered the same tonight and got something totally different. We ordered chicken tikka masala and another dish and got 2 chicken tikka masala’s this is not the first time they have got the order wrong. Totally disappointed

Maharani is the best Indian takeaway in Ripon. Excellent food and service. The quality is so good as well as the price and portion size. Definitely recommend!!

Takeaway only but better than the sit down place next door. Used it load over the years and always been happy.

ordered food after waiting 1hr 50 minutes called them to see where my food was they said it was sat there waiting to be collected even though I stated on the phone for delivery got told they were making fresh which they didn't food arrived cold and soggy and they still had the cheek to take the money called them up for a replacement and they told me it was a busy night and hung up on me never again day light robbery!

This was the first time we had used this Takeaway. All 4 main courses, plus side extras were EXCELLENT, very tasty flavours and good sized portions. Was ready at time given when I went to collect. Would certainly use the Maharani again when we visit Ripon again. Our Indian Restaurant in Suffolk is good, but this is much tastier!!!

When I called they stated takeaway would be 45 mins, 1hour 30 later still hadn’t arrived. As a regular customer I called only to be laughed at stating they were busy. Asked for a discount as so late again to be laughed at. When takeaway arrived was stone cold, as been a regular customer before I can certainly say I will never go there again!!!!!!!!!

Always consistent food and cracking delivery on time! What’s more to like! The guys always make me score 10/10 :)

I am very surprised about the good reviews here concerning this takeaway. I used it last night for the first time and will certainly never go back. I had my doubts when I saw the state of the place but what they served me was just disgusting. One container of greasy gravy claiming to be a curry with maybe half a dozen small pieces of grissly lamb / mutton, overcooked greasy pilau rice and a piece of cardboard masquerading as a naan. Inedible in my opinion.

This is a diamond take away. Clearly using fresh ingredients. Every dish of the five curries we ordered were full of flavour, tasting different and delicious. I live in Masham but will definitely drive to use this take out. Nice friendly staff. Excellent pricing, fair and worth every penny. Well done. Will recommend to everyone I know.

I’ve been using this restaurant now at least once a week for 18 months and I’ve never had a bad curry. It is consistently excellent. However, after my experience tonight I’ve decided to take my custom to their competition. There is a member of staff who sometimes answers the phone (he did tonight) who insists that tandoori chicken is exactly the same as chicken tikka. I asked for a tandoori chicken curry. He said, yes chicken tikka. I said, no, tandoori chicken. We then got into a really long debate about the difference, which he insisted was that tandoori chicken is just chicken tikka that’s on the bone. Now I’ve had this same conversation with the same man at least twice before. If anyone else takes the order, they just do me a tandoori chicken curry. Not this guy though he refused to allow me to order what I wanted, and it’s annoyed me this time enough to make me stop going there. My apologies to the manager and chef but I won’t be ordering from you again.

Recently moved to the area and very picky about my takeaway but can honestly say this is the only one I will use now amazing food and reasonably priced would highly recommend!!

We've used this place twice in a week because we enjoyed the first takeaway so much. They have a "new - home style" section on the menu and I selected both my curries from there because they sounded so interesting. They were both very tasty, well spiced and plenty of it. Not too much oil either. The London rice is to die for, as is the madras rice with chopped bullet chillies. Also, I live on a boat in the marina and they delivered our takeaway to the boat! This is definitely our new takeaway place. The food is a lot better than at the eat in curry place next door. My only criticism is that I specifically asked for plain chicken in my curry,but it arrived with tikka as per the description. A little mistake, that's all. Thanks for a lovely curry. See you soon. Oh, and the tarka dahl was really excellent too.

Good, tasty and reasonably priced take-out. This is not a sit down restaurant, however...

Ordered a vindaloo, tikka masala,korma and butter chicken. The vindaloo was good but the other 3 tasted identical just with different colouring added. There was no spice or flavour, the bajis had no spice either. Really disappointed no one even touched theirs!

As fairly regular customers over the last ten years we have worked our way through their menu and can honestly say that we have not had a better take away meal anywhere else. Unlike other similar establishments the food containers are not swimming in oil. The food is well cooked, tasty and as spicy as you like it, don't be afraid to ask for a particular dish to be spiced as you want it. Delivery to the local area is free and normally within 40-50 minutes and they will accept cheques or cash. Great food at a very reasonable price.

This is our 1st choice for an Indian takeway, they also deliver which makes it so much easier. The currys are always really fresh and hot when they arrive and we alwasy get free poppadoms and pickles. Would recommend the Tandoori Murgh Masala and the mushroom pilau rice. We liek to try a different dish each time we order to try something new.

They only do takeaways but the curries are far better than you'll be served in any 'eat in' Indian restaurant in Ripon, by miles. Full of complex flavour, we have found this hard to beat and well worth trying. Our preference is for a more authentic taste and this takeaway serves far better food than most Indian restaurants. It is well worth trying and is a hidden gem!

Food always hot and extremely delicious, friendly staff and massive portions. Fab value for money- would recommend for sure!!!!!!!!
