Kinara Tandoori Restaurant in Harrogate

What’s has happened. Was the go to Indian in Harrogate been going for years , but last night was so disappointing. Service was slow and not very attentive, finally got our order and our water after the second request. Food arrived bland tasteless and portions have reduced in size. The two chicken madras were no hotter than a tikka I ordered a Aloo rice I appreciate it wasn’t on the menu but the potatoes were appalling. Just not what we were expecting however we did not recognise any members of the staff so maybe new owners. Until things improve we will not be returning get your act together guys.

Used to be our favourite but recently had a few meals that really weren't great. Last night topped it off though, all accompaniments like the mint sauce, lettuce, pancake type thing for our chaat and bajiis all missing. Very disappointing. And it was £36 for a meal for two so missing items definitely not acceptable for the cost.

What a lovely quiet place, great food and staff very friendly, Great price too. Take your own alcohol. But will gladly give you water with ice. Well worth a visit.

Visited on a Saturday evening with a few friends. Ordered the mixed starter and then a makhani, lamb special and another curry. Food was alright, lamb special was not particularly flavoursome and naan bread was lacking in filling. Mixed starter was nice. By no means the best curry I’ve had but portions were fair and it filled us up. It’s BYOB so make sure to arrive with drinks if you want that. Staff were friendly and service was good.

Ordered a meal for delivery was told 40 mins @ 6.30 , rang restaurant after a hour there response was they had no drivers . At 9 pm still no drivers, my meal never arrived and no apology. Absolute disgrace won’t be visiting, or using again

ordered a takeaway (chicken Korma) always order from here the last 3-4 years but this has to be the worst ever tonight! the sauce was shocking.... watered down so much, there was no coconut taste, it was bland and tasteless, the sauce was so thin, could have just thrown some chicken in a slow cooker for 5 hours with a bit of water and milk and a shaving of some coconut essence.... thats what it resembled and tasted like.... it was disgusting! never again will i order from here moving into 2024....

Basic decor but very good food reasonably priced. They don't serve alcohol but do allow you to bring your own.

Needed to get food before a concert. Couldn't get in next door, so went in. It was empty, to be fair it was quite early too. Te staff were all busy preparing take away pots. We were seated and offered drinks, Bring Your Own Booze. Didn't see that. But Coke was fine. We ordered and the food came quickly and it was really good. The staff were attentive without being pushy Clearly the takeaway side is busy, as there were lots of comings and goings whilst we were there. I would certainly recommend the food was good, the service was good. The dining room was great. The downside.... the toilet was a little unpleasant, but not filthy.

Quiet when we visited (several Indian restaurants in walking distance); nevertheless we went for it and loved it. No alcohol licence but the upshot here is impressively cheap dishes. We spent £35 for two of us with two side dishes and naans + rice. Some really interesting curries on the menu too; clearly some love and thought behind the scenes and it came through in the taste. Brilliant place, don’t be put off if it’s a little quiet.

Our second visit to this fabulous little restaurant great service friendly staff and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend..

So pleased we came across this little gem when searching for a restaurant near our hotel. Friendly waiting staff. Very tasty food. Plentiful and hot! Extremely good value!

Ordered Chicken Khulna, which was described as a spicy dish, but couldn't taste anything apart from the odd chilli. Very bland dish with little if any flavour which isn't what I want from a curry.

Delicious food at a very reasonable cost. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Harrogate!!!!!!

Ordered Tandoori mix grill food was horrible, bland and very dry, expensive as well. Was not very professional when picking up takeaway.

I phoned the restaurant to ensure there was no nuts in the order ! I was assured that everything was nut free! That was not true! I have a son who has a nut allergy. That in not acceptable! And is dangerous! Thankfully my son did not eat. t The products with almonds could have had a serious health issue for him. I am very upset and actually have lost confidence in this restaurant! Please learn from this - allergies are serious - people can die and yes my son has to carry an epi pen and does have a serious allergy. I would like assurance that this restaurant will learn from my experience and take their responsibilities seriously

Very impressed! No nonsense, no frills, bring your own booze curry house with great staff, lovely food & very relaxed atmosphere. Great value for money too. The last great traditional Indian in Harrogate without a doubt. Will come back again!

Tasteless meat dish, Parsi is meant to be hot and spicy, the dish was not, just the actual chillies were. The chicken Shali was better but not amazing. Again more overpriced food with no extras at all thrown in. We gave them two chances.

Meat poor quality as well. Chicken saag was also poor. No freebies included not even a raita. Not up to quality for the price.

Really varied menu of freshly cooked food

I had an extremely tasty meal, one of their specials and it was. I would go back again.

Food took an hour and twenty five minutes to arrive. Phoned to see where it was, and they blamed the just eat driver, told them i was diabetic and needed it asap, and was met with, sorry but we cant help. I was bordering on a hypo when food arrived, and yes, it was cold. Terrible customer service

Best in Harrogate in my opinion and have been for years

My husband wanted an Indian last Saturday but we have not booked any restaurant. As we were walking along we saw Kinara and we decided to try. They don't have wine but that was okay as Tesco is just nearby. Next, we know what to do but still we hope they can offer alcohol again soon. Everything is reasonable price. The food was really good and staff were so attentive. We took home our leftovers and it was even better the next day.

Great little place. No alcohol served which was fine with us. We all enjoyed our food.

My wife and I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Probably the best curry restaurant in Harrogate. Situated in the centre of the town. Plenty of parking nearby. Great selection of food on the menu all well prepared and very reasonably priced. Not licensed but you can take your own alcohol The staff are lovely. Well worth a visit.

Best curry house / takeaway I have had in a long time. If a no thrills bring your own beer curry house is what your looking for this is the place to go. Service was exceptional, curry was the best I have had in a long time if not ever, fresh, not greasy and the fact you can bring your own booze is great, makes it much cheaper. Would recommend to anyone.

Deliveroo based order - my madras was excellent and the tikka masala was delicious! We had a very minor issue with the delivery which was sorted so quickly. Great food and amazing customer service!!

Having dined here once a month for the past couple of years, i couldn`t recommend it highly enough! The food is fantastic, great staff, best Indian in Harrogate by far!!

WOW! Absolutely delicious food. Decided to try this Indian restaurant out and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the Tufail's fusion and a garlic coriander naan and I must say it was the best curry I have ever had. Great service by a young lad and definitely will go back again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Great flavor of many chicken curries, chickpea curry, dal chapati and chipati. One of the best in town.

Have been coming here for years and always enjoy it. Great curry, very good value for money. Bring your own booze which makes it even better value for money. There's a Tesco Express and a Sainsbury's local within a few minutes walk which are open late to get drinks

Found this place by accident. But the food was absolutely lovely. Staff were very friendly. Starters and a main meal for 4 was £65. No drinks as you have to take your own. Did not know this as the time but would go back.

Very tasty dishes at reasonable prices. They do not serve alcohol so bring your own. Several people left the restaurant because of this, despite the large orange banners outside stating to bring your own alcohol. The service is always good, and the food has always been beyond expectations. I've not had a bad meal here yet.

All the restaurants on this street were full apart from this one so we were slightly dubious. However, this place exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely and very welcoming. If we visit Harrogate again we will definitely go back....

Was recommended this by the staff in The Little Ale house as it was our first visit to Harrogate. I eat out a lot and am married to an Indian wife so I know a thing or two about Indian food and this was superb....

Was hesitant about eating here but everywhere else was booked up the restaurant don't look much from outside but the food was excellent as where the staff. Price's where really good to if i was ever in the area i wouldn't hesitate to come here...

Kinara has recently become my favourite Indian takeaway in town, with consistently great curry's, fast service, generous portions and amazing prices. I would rank the flavor of Kianara's dishes as almost being on par with Cardamom Black, which has amazing curry, but is a high end restaurant with the prices to reflect. For kinara to nearly match them on taste while being less than half the cost is a true testament to kinaras quality. I had a chance to see inside their kitchen during a recent collection and it was very, very clean. Definitely give them a try! P.s. the "special naan" is delicious, it has kebab meat and spices in the middle. The other naans are average and could use a little improvement.

My Royal mixed kebab was ok, although the lamb and chicken tikka was rock hard. I ordered Joi Bangla as a main course, which was nice. Very good value, at just over twenty quid, including the two dishes above, a Peshwari nan, and a pint...

Great food with loads of flavour and the Madras packed a punch, not very expensive and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Will definitely come again, best Indian around here

The worst butter chicken in the universe. Sloppy. Runny. No flavour. Gross. 2 butter chick 2 naans 2 rice £32.00!!!! What a rip off. They don’t even put coriander seeds in the rice or garlic on the garlic naan.

Love this place, always gorgeous food, staff are nice and will make you dishes not on the menu. The garlic chilli chicken is glorious. Keep it up Kinara.

If you like your curries balanced between being well spiced and well flavoured, Look no further! The rest in Harrogate are mere immitations! Bradford is the only other place to go IMO

This place has nice people, good food, and a relaxed environment. We would definitely go there again.

My family's favourite South Asian restaurant in Harrogate.

Popped in here on our way back from the Convention Centre & they were happy to serve us, but they were also mopping floors & cleaning up all around us, so it wasn't a very relaxing meal.Its great that they were open - but if you're open, be open, don't start shutting up & making diners feel uncomfortable.The food was ok, although I asked for very mild & what I got was not mild by my standards. Everything was also covered in coriander which I hate.Overall, it was ok but no more.

Although not a trendy place this restaurant produces food of a consistently high standard ,I've been going here for many years and am yet to be disappointed

We have tried most of Harrogate's Indian restaurants and overall have been very disappointed however, we tried this restaurant and the service is excellent and the food is fabulous. It is now our only Indian restaurant. The prices also make it a reasonably priced night out. Keep up the great work

Arrived at 10-40pm and told that we could only stay if we ordered quickly and did not have starters .... Food was ok but felt compelled to rush it. Time to try somewhere else.

Went kinara last year and was very impressed even though it was very busy. Been again 1 year later and the service and food was excellent. All the food was fresh and obviously prepared and cooked as ordered. Excellent meal.

All the good features: plenty of choice (though I did not find any biryanis!) and the service was fine. But my friend did not find her meal very good.

Usually, running to the toilet the next day after eating out at a restaurant would usually be cause for a bad review and for you never to go back again, however when the TT (Thirsty Thursday) trio go out for a hot one, that's exactly what we're looking for and I'm pleased to say that Kinara has always provides the ammunition to machine gun the toilet basin at 2am, whilst sobbing into the free citrus face wipe, courteously provided at the end of the meal. On occasions, I have contemplated using the after eight mints as a suppository, hoping the mint would elicit some form of cooling sensation.

Don't be put off from the outside looking in. The restaurant is fairly basic though clean BUT the food is amazing. The best king prawn puri and tandoori fish ( real haddock!) I've ever tasted. My husband had a mixed tandoori starter which was delicious and the curry to follow was complex and full of flavour. Not too oily either. We couldn't believe the price and that was with a bottle of wine too. I would go here again without hesitation!

Had a night away on 1st January in Harrogate. Normally visit the Thai restaurant but being a bank holiday many eateries were shut. Gave this place a try and pleased we did. The food was beautiful. Started with poppadums and pickle tray. Next had the sizzle starter consisting of onion bhaji, tandoori chicken, shish kebab and something else! With salad and sauce. Was lush! Mains were a Persian curry and I had Ali's special which was a chicken and spinach dish. We shared vegetable rice and a plain naan. 3 pints of Cobra. Total bill £40.85. I was very well impressed with the value and the quality of the food. It was delicious . The ONLY criticism I would give is that the service was rather slow however, I think this was to do with the fact that it was full as everywhere surrounding was shut!! Will definitely be visiting again.

Just here now . Had an excellent meal great service and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would really recommend especially after all the excess of xmas roasts. Lovely food lovely evening.

Believe me, I love a decent Indian meal and l want to have one with real depth of flavour and freshness. My benchmark has always been a Chicken Madras so I ordered one with a Pashweri Naan and pilau rice. My wife got the Korma. So pleased to have found this restaurant because it’s the only one I will go to now having tried all the rest in Harrogate and come away very disappointed.

We came by this restaurant as recommended by a barman who served us in Harrogate he said it doesn't look much from the outside but the food is very good and the food was amazing couldn't understand why the place was empty at 10pm please give it a try if you go to harrogate
