Amazing patatas bravas, good drinks menu and incredibly friendly service

Incredibly slow even though there were only two tables sat. We waited over 40 minutes for our food even though 3 of the items were simple (for example, a meat and cheese board with a single type of meat and cheese). The Pan Con Tomate tasted as though the tomatoes had gone bad. Frankly I got more joy from exiting the restaurant than anything I had inside.

It was a strange experience…. I was treating a family member and so didn’t want to make a fuss but at one point, I noticed a piece of plastic on her fork (maybe from a packet of something that was opened in the kitchen). I said nothing but actually I wish I had. The prawns tasted odd and the squid rice was more black rice with a couple dots of squid…. I wouldn’t spend my money here again.

The food was good, but it took over two hours to get the food out. Would have been nice to have a heads up

An experience that transports you to Spain. As a Spaniard I can say that food is authentically Spanish. The chorizo al vino is awesome. El lugar te transporta a España. Como español puedo decir que la comida es auténtica. El chorizo al vino es impresionante.

Great authentic restaurant. There is a slight wait for the food, but that's because of the fresh ingredients that are cooked from scratch . It's worth the wait .

I have never had a bad meal here. There is a good selection of food. Each amazing. You could order a tapas dish as starter and one of the 3 types of paella for a really good meal. But the best experience is ordering a selection of dishes (about 1-2 per person) and sharing amongst a group. Then finishing off with paella.

Great little tapas place. Prices are quite reasonable, and you get a lot for your money. We couldn't even finish our olives cause we got so many! Staff was great.

Went today as needed to get lunch locally and I was amazed by the standard of the food and the value for money. Charming owner as well. I would encourage locals to support this local proper Spanish eatery.

Very expensive tapas, I visited 3 times and we ended up spending £40 per person which is a lot for a tapas place. Food was always excellent and fresh. Service impeccable. The location is a bit unfortunate. If it was down the road on Camberwell Church St, it’d be packed all the time

It was really quiet on a Tuesday night so not much atmosphere. Food was well paced for tapas and nice wine.

Lovely local restaurant. Have eaten here a number of times and every meal has been good. The gambas al ajilo is a particular favourite. Delicious!

Amazing food! We ordered too much because we couldn't choose (and because you never know what and how much a 3 year old will eat). The adults both ended up eating too much because it was too good not to eat! The 3 year old was over the moon with his cheese and chocolate ice cream and his new amigo!

Been here before with my family and loved it, wouldn’t recommend going in covid times though. Sat down for 20 minutes and no one offered me a menu or a drink even though I had a booking. Got shouted at for trying to go to the toilet. Had to leave in the end so didn’t get to taste the food.

You could not get more friendly service and great food

We order 6 tapas for 3 people After 25 minutes we got our first tapa (spinach) It took us more than 1h to have the 6 tapas on the table. (Most of them were veggie and did not require much preparation/cooking). We had to wait around 10 minutes after eating each tapa for the next one to come... Dreadful! The tapas themselves were small and very simple. As a Spanish national, the food was very poorly cooked and presented and lacked flavour. None of us enjoyed our evening due to the very poor service and tasteless food. Just before 10pm we were offered the dessert menu but the restaurant was meant to close at 10pm and as we had such a bad experience with the food we just left. I hope in the future they care about the service they provide and the food the my serve, I will not come again despite living around the corner.

We arrived at Tapete after booking in anticipation of their delicious looking menu. When we arrived, we were given the "one minute finger" by the man inside although we both greeted him hello and there was just one other table of guests in the entire restaurant. Eventually we were waved to a table outside with which we were happy. We sat down and menus were shoved under our noses by the host who seemed increasingly irritable. We had a question regarding the paella so tried to grab the host's attention. He made eye contact but gestured "not now" with his hand as he walked past us to go inside. At this point our mouths fells open in shock at the blatant rudeness. We took this to mean, however, that he was busy preparing drinks or something however this was not the case. When he returned he went not to our table but to the other group to see if there was anything he could get them and was all smiles. At this point we realised that it must have been something personal about our party - the other table consisting of a white family. After discussing and still failing to get his attention for service, we stood up to leave. Even though we were confused and upset by our treatment, we let the host know that we would be leaving. He could not have seemed less interested and shrugged his shoulders before turning away. Truly horrendous service with pretty upsetting and offensive undertones.

Just had the bestest summer Sunday lunch at Tapete! Amazingly tasty and original tapas and refreshing drinks to accompany our meal in their lovely terrace. I have been to this place sporadically over the years because it's not around the corner from my house but the food is consistently fresh, good and great money for value. Lovely and chilled atmosphere too. Sorry the gazpacho was not ready for lunch, but I will be back for that soon!!! Tapete is truly a hidden gem in South London to experience authentic Spanish food. Hope the flamenco nights will come back soon too! Keep going guys! 💪❤️

Where do I start, we were made feel extremely welcome from the get go, the service we received was excellent and very personable. The food was superb and I felt my food allergies were taken seriously. I highly recommend the lamb chops, all of the croquettas are to die for not to mention the prawns. We will definitely be back!!

Tapete is a great place to spend a Friday evening or a Saturday afternoon lounging drinking Sangrias and eating one too many tapas, you won't be able to help yourselves either, trust me!! The staff are super friendly and accommodating, overall good service and even better food. 👍🏽

Great place to have tapas with family. But a little high for in cost for tapas and wine list has less choice.

Authentic place with good selection of tapas. Grilled sardines, squid, mini burgers are rather nice. However, chicken skewer could be a bit juicier. Portions are enormous, some tapas are like the main dish. Nice staff and good music. Thanks!

The service was really slow: it took well over 90min for a paella, even though we were told it would only take 30 min. The tapas were fine, but the paella was definitively off as both of us were sick the next day. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

Just discovered this lovely local restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious, couldn’t rate it highly enough. Super friendly, really authentic and wonderful food. Only problem was how to choose what to try! Will be heading back as soon as possible to taste more.

A lovely, authentic experience and a great local find. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Highly recommend for a family night out, cosy dinner for two or even a quick drop in on your way home from the station.

Hands down the best tapas I've had in London. Really good quality Spanish food, super authentic and great value for money. Will certainly be coming back again.

Our first visit and was really impressed. Warm and friendly atmosphere, lovely staff and great food, the pig cheeks were very tasty. If only this was our local restaurant but we live in Lancashire so too far to dine regularly but hopefully will again in the future.

We have been here twice, and we are pretty sure we will come back! The food was so good, and the guys there extremely friendly and nice! We’ve ordered some tapas and a paella, and we couldn’t manage to finish it all, as it was way too much. But the guy offered me to take away the leftovers. The sangria was also really good ;) absolutely recommended!

Really nice tapas, well presented, amazing atmosphere and service, food came fast and last thing but not least, it's not expensive at all (between 5 and 7 pounds each tapas, portions are quite big) I will definitely come back.
