Imagine returning to Borough Market at 5:01pm with your hungry teenage foodie daughter, unaware that the Paella stand and every other food spot there was shutting down. Bummed, we exited the market, turned the corner and saw Brindisa, shining like a beacon. It was bustling, and we were unsure if they could seat our family of 4. But the host politely ushered us to the bar, and by the time our drinks came out, our table was ready. Every sip and bite was scrumptious - pan con tomate, gambas, chorizo, broccoli and, yes, paella. That was plenty for us. The staff was very friendly amid an incredibly loud, crowded space.

If you love tapas, do not come here. Some of the worst tapas in London, and the worst service I’ve ever received. Entirely Negligent staff, with the audacity to ask for a service charge? What service? They forgot several dishes, and when questioned they acted like they hadn’t. The tapas was low quality, flavourless. Truly disappointing meal. So Overpriced for the entire lack of quality. DO NOT EAT HERE, unless you like terrible service and mediocre overpriced meals. Wish I could give them zero stars. Get some competent staff.

A good Spanish Tapas place should offer a warm welcome at the door, casual seats at the bar and in the restaurant, an experienced barman, and a great team serving lovely little dishes and a nice selection of drinks. In Brindisa South Kensington you can expect exactly that. Although it's in a slightly touristy area, Ciprian and his loyal team succeed in keeping that Spanish atmosphere which guarantees a great night out, whether you go with family and friends or just on your own, as I did, and you'll have a lovely time!

Staff were friendly but they forgot 2 things we ordered. It's a tapas restaurant so it should be pretty common that people order many dishes but we needed to ask twice unfortunately. It'll be better if the waiter can ask us if everything is okay so we don't need to frustrate to call someone. Food was good but not exceptional.

Came for a bite and a drink in the afternoon. No reservation, table turned out to be for 1,5 hours (?) but were told in a rather annoyed tone once that 1,5 passed. All good, but communicate this to guests when they come in or before time runs out if you are stressed about it. When we left a waiter passing me yelled in my ear ‘thank you for coming’ in a rather sarcastic, passive aggressive tone looking annoying, I honestly felt slightly attacked. Food is good, nice location and the waitresses were nice which I have to give the 3 stars for. But the 2 male hosts/waiters could have acted less tense.

*BEWARE allergy sufferers* Whilst the traditional Spanish Tapas was absolutely delicious, my friend (who has a severe nut allergy) and I were both shocked at the serious risk at which this restaurant is placing its customers when it comes to lack of care regarding food allergies. Neither upon arrival nor before ordering did our waiter ask us about any allergies and the printed menu here does not state any allergen information next to the dishes. As a result of these failures, having ordered the Chicken Thighs With Romesco Sauce, we only realised it contained nuts when the plate arrived (which we had to send back of course due to my friend's serious nut allergy). Whilst the lovely female manager immediately offered us a replacement and looked after us like VIPs we both expressed serious concerns about the lack of visible allergen information and the "near miss" we experienced. My recommendations to the BRINDISA management are as follows: 1. Ensure it's standard practice for ALL staff (including bar and waiting staff) to ask customers if they have any allergies when booking, upon arrival at the restaurant and then again prior to ordering any food or drinks 2. Have clear allergen information printed (in bold) underneath each dish/item on the menu 3. Require waiting staff to verbally inform customers of allergens present in dishes ordered (for.example "Just to let you know the chicken romesco contains nuts")

We have visited this restaurant multiple times over the years & always with our older children. We were really looking forward to celebrating my husband's birthday here & we couldn't have been more disappointed. When we mentioned his birthday in conversation, the 2 members of staff ignored the statement, were a little awkward & then refrained from pretty much any interaction with us; odd for people who work with the general public & whose role should include delivering great service. After waiting outside for ages, we were queue jumped which was shrugged off when we pointed this out & then quickly told us of a 40min wait to sit inside. We asked if we could get a drink whilst waiting which was fine until l asked if we could lean at one of the tables &I was told that this would be ‘disrespectful'. I was really surprised at this phrase & I’m not sure what it was reference to. A table then 'appeared' & we were seated. This was after only 5/10 mins of waiting. Despite having ordered & our drinks sitting at the bar for us to grab, we were asked to leave them at the bar & they would be brought across to us at our table. That took 15 mins to happen by which point our food order had been taken & the wait felt too long. The food was ordered, brought very quickly to the table & was Ok. I was surprised that the bread & tortilla were cold but maybe my memory of the dishes is wrong. The food has changed significantly over the years - smaller portions such as the croquettes - but the prices do not reflect this. Whilst we were eating the waitress constantly dipped into the narrow space between myself & my husband to take plates, glasses etc which was awkward & interrupted our meal/conversation. It all felt very rushed. Despite this having been a favourite of ours to visit in London, we will not come here again nor will we be recommending it to people. I can't help but feel we were not the clientele that the restaurant wanted. This is despite being a paying customer. A really disappointing visit.

We ate here recently, mainly because it was one of the few restaurants open in London on a Monday and also because I had eaten at the South Kensington branch and greatly enjoyed the meal. However, unfortunately the experience in the Borough was very disappointing. First things first, the service was warm and professional. Our waitress kindly let us sample 2 or 3 red wines and the one we chose was good. Sadly, after that it was downhill all the way. The table for 2 was tiny and we are only shortish, slim women, it was much trickier for the strapping young men on either side of us who were clearly struggling to fit round the diminutive spaces. Not only that, but it was a logistical challenge to accommodate all the different dishes on the table, as they seemed to arrive all at once. We found it off-putting to have such an excessively crowded table. And then the food. Nothing was special, on the contrary, it was all mediocre. One dish - the patatas bravas was actually inedible - the potatoes tasted unacceptably old. I did send those back and our waitress removed them from the bill. But in truth most of the food remained uneaten. The calamari - usually a reliable bet - were strangely dry and tasteless, the so-called special aubergine dish in a light honey batter was actually smothered in a thick and unpalatable coating. Everything smelt and tasted of old cooking oil. The gambas were overcooked and flavourless. Ordinarily I would have had no compunction in complaining then and there about the whole meal BUT this was a special occasion meeting an old friend to belatedly celebrate her 70th birthday and we didn't want to spoil our day out. It was such a contrast to the memorably beautiful lunch l had enjoyed in S. Kensington - again for 2 people - but on a spacious round table and where the food was utterly delicious and vibrant. This is the first time I have ever actually posted a negative review on Trip Advisor and it pains me to do so knowing how the hospitality business is suffering and being a very fair-minded person, but based on the meal we ate I honestly can't recommend this venue.

The food was delicious, particularly the blue cheese croquettes! One thing that has made me avoid giving 4 or 5 stars is the waiting staff. Before even completing our order list, the waitress interrupted trying to upsell another dish, which was rude and strange, considering we clearly hadn’t even finished ordering. Same waitress also spent five minutes at the start talking through an item on the specials board, which she then said they had already sold out of… The waitress also asked three times whether we wanted to order more dishes whilst we were still eating (we had already ordered 6 between two of us for lunch, including the more expensive meat dishes). It impacted our experience and the upsell tactics were unsubtle and clunky. I am a sucker for being upsold normally, but this time I was reluctant to. Shame because it is great food and great atmosphere. 13.5% service charge as well, so you’d expect at higher than normal rates they’d at least be able to hire some decent waiting staff.

We always enjoy eating here, service is generally good and the food is always tasty and authentic. This is my favorite of their locations, it has a good feeling about it. Just one quibble; I know restaurants have to place time limits on tables when they're busy but being told you have 5 minutes left on your reservation when you still have half a bottle of wine left seems harsh. Surely people who have ordered multiple courses of food and bottles of wine should get the benefit of the doubt???? We were surrounded by people who were spending an awful lot of time baby sitting 10 pounds worth of food and a coffee. Just a thought.

Came here as a group of 5, squeezed onto a tiny table which wasn’t an issue, most tapas restaurants you are usually quite squashed in. Took a while to order drinks and when they came, the two waiters who brought them over somehow spilt drinks on my 3 friends coat and hair. They apologised and moved on. The food came and it was good, we enjoyed it. We did ask for the pork to be medium but it came out rare however they were happy to re-do it but then it came out very cooked! 🤣 Not once did any waiters come over to ask us if we wanted more drinks or if the food was okay and then they had the audacity to add 13.5% service charge which was £32! We decided to pay half of this as it did say it was optional. We said bye and was waiting for our friend outside who went to the toilet. The waiter came out and said the bill was missing money and we explained yes we did not want to pay the full amount of service and he said “well next time you need to say” …. There won’t be a next time.

It didn't start well as we arrived on a train to London Bridge and decided to go for something to eat before going to our hotel as it was a 2pm check in. The doors were wide open so we went in, only to be they weren't open until midday, this was at 11.52. No problem, I asked if we could take a seat and we'd be happy to wait, however it seemed to confuse the two members of staff I was talking to as to why we'd rather wait inside than outside in the cold. To be fair to them, once I pushed it, they relented and quickly switched to being charming and attentive. We had prawns, spuds, peppers and croquetas, plus some bread which were all nice (this time my partner got the hot pepper) and a drink each, which came to over £60, a bit strong even given the area. On the whole though, it was good enough that we will return, it's one of our regular eating spots when in London so that speaks volumes.

We ordered the Spanish omelette, the chorizo on bread, the prawns in garlic and olive oil, and the lamb shoulder with carrot puree. From the 4 dishes, the lamb was the best and worth the £21 price. The other dishes I felt were mediocre and slightly overpriced - the prawns were slightly overcooked and the chorizo was just two pieces of meat on sourdough bread. I would return because the service and wine were fantastic. It may be that we ordered the wrong items so I'd be keen to try out more tapas plates on the menu.

When my wife and I were seated we were told without explation, "You have this table for an hour and a half." We kept that in mind. It didn't feel welcoming but it seemed like adequate time to eat. When we finished our meal in about an hour the waitress asked how everything was . We said, "Fine, we are finished." Then we waited about a half hour for our bill until the same waitress came back to tell us she needed the table. We mentioned we had told her we were finished a while ago and paid our bill after she kindly removed the mushrooms from it which we never received. When I ordered the mushroom, the waitress said bread goes well with the them. I said "Okay" thinking that bread must come with the meal. It didn't. To the waitress I just ordered bread. No big deal. After we ordered wine she asked if we wanted water I said no. She asked if we wanted sparkling water. I said okay just to move the process along. I wasn't really sure if water or sparkling water were complimentary or if I just ordered the sparkling water because the waitress had the menus by this time. It is good to have water with your food, so the sparkling water was a welcome addition to our meal. The wine, Manon Tempranilo, had just begun to open up after about an hour at our table. Overall the wine was good. The food in general was okay but not special in any way. The flavor was a bit lacking compared to tapas we have had in the past.

I wish I had taken pictures. Burnt tortilla, overdone black rice and mediocre service overall. I feel like the food quality has been getting worse over the past 10 years, which is a shame as I have good food memories from Brindisa restaurants. Sat at the high tables with bar stool type chairs so I could eat standing. Never in my life I had to explain to any restaurant staff that the reason I stand (usually in high tables!) is because of a hip problem, until today. The man in smart causal clothing apparently he had to know if I was going to have my meal standing. When I said yes, he had to know the reason. Quiet invasive question really. I’m pretty short, so it looks like I’m sat anyway. Also, this is how many Spanish people have their tapas in Spain? Anyway. I had to disclose my health conditions in front of other people that I work with. Shocked at such personal question but also by the arrogance and entitlement of this man. I’m not spending any more time or money in Brindisa.

Saw this place after wandering the market and managed to snag a table in the bar area. The food was very good, totally authentic and well priced. We had a couple of cocktails and a glass of cava and it was the perfect way to pass an hour and a half. We will be back. Recommended.

I ordered the bread with olive oil and tomato's in meatballs. The bread was old and stale for £4 for 4 pieces of bread it was 1 out of 5. The tomato's and meatballs for £9 for a small plate. I'm not sure if the ingredients was good quality or not to justify the price but it tasted ok. However saying this my friend did enjoy his food and he ordered the more meat based traditional food.

Went to London to spend our Sunday and decided to stop by Borough Market for lunch. We chose Brindisa, but the stand in the market, not the restaurant. We had such a great time in there. We had 2 Tortilla Española sandwich and croquettes to share. Of course we order 2 pints of Estrella Galicia and the afternoon went very smoothly. We really want to thanks to Veronica and specially to Ricardo their service and their kindness. They were super !!! As good Galician, we wanted to finish our meal with Licor Café, and even it wasn’t in the menu we asked Ricardo if they had it. He started looking inside the fridges and … wooop !! 1 bottle … it was amazing having the experience there, engaging conversation with both of them and we finished all taking with a Brazilian couple sitting by us. That what those kind of stand are for, for enjoyment, meeting people and having good food !! Again, hats off to both Ricardo and Veronica We would be back !! Get ready that Licor Café 😅

Apparently this establishment closes at 10pm and after standing in the doorway for 10 minutes at 10.15, it's Google's fault that the opening hours are like this. A Spanish restaurant that closes at 10pm?

Busy busy brindisa. I put up with the slight chaos because it’s part of the experience and I love tapas.

Delicious house special of "Spanglish" burger, eat with fries, halloumi fries and croquetas. It's an interesting take on Spanish/English food and really good too. Fantastic value.
