Parrillan Borough Yards in Southwark

In all the years we've been going to Bancone, it was sad and surprising to have to send back my favourite pasta dish (Walnut Silk Handkerchiefs). It was unforgivably salty! That was a first. Thankfully, it was replaced without an issue and came back quickly and absolutely perfect, even warmer than the first. Just wonderful service. Later, ordered the fried artichoke, but the romesco was saltier! Inedible. Didn't have the time to have it sent back as had an event to attend. Not a great note to leave on. Either the head chef and his team are smokers to allow such salty food to go out, or the numbers are not what you'd like so need to make your patrons thirsty so they drink more. Whatever it is, it's a mistake. A year or so ago you were looking for investors to expand. If this is how you're expanding, allowing this inconsistency and low quality to be served, it will implode. Maybe that's what is going on. Can't say when I'll consider booking a table at Borough Yards again. And since Golden Square isn't a match to either Borough Yards or Covent Garden, we stopped going there ages ago, too. We've never had any issue with anything from the original venue in Covent Garden, just couldn't get in this time. Will definitely stick to tables there. Let's all hope and pray the quality stays there; I need my Walnut pasta ;-) The real positive is that the service team is most always fabulous and a pleasure. They cannot be faulted. Thank you. Clearly they're needed now more than ever.

Went here for my birthday dinner and had an incredible experience with the meal and most of the staffs. However when we paid, there was already an extra £1 billed for a donation. It wasn’t much and i didn’t really mind as it was my birthday anyways. But I’m new in London so out of curiosity i asked if this can be taken out, and the waitress replied “you can if you REALLY want to. It’s only £1 anyways”. We found that quite rude. Nevertheless, food and atmosphere was amazing.

Delicious food, great service and very attentive staff. Nicole was out waitress and she really looked after us and explained the menu and was very attentive and friendly ( thanks Nicole!). We had a great time and really enjoyed the whole experience.

We had dinner on a Saturday and were served by Benjamin. First we hesitated since the restaurant was fully booked and we had the only online option to be seated at the counter, although we did not regret our decision to go nonetheless. The counter seats were the perfect seating for a dinner for two since you have a perfect view on the open kitchen and the amazing dishes the kitchen crew composes live in front of you. From the sicilian speck to the delicious walnut and butter pasta, the food is simply outstanding. The drinks complement the food in great harmony and Benjamin was a fantastic host with great humour. We will definitely be back on our next visit to London!

Sat at the counter and watched the talented chefs work. Big up the starter chef for great food, and Nicole for recommending great suggestions. Would bring my partner to the resto for Xmas!

Delicious Italian food, excellent service by Dana and a vibey setting - we loved the lard on toast, the fried artichoke, the pasta with ragù, the fish pasta (though portion is quite small), the pasta with garlic and chillies, and the silk handkerchiefs signature dish (which was outstanding). Excellent and attentive service, lovely cocktails and franciacorta, and a nice and vibrant setting made for an excellent meal. Will be back!

My partner who’s never excited about food said he had an orgasm in his mouth. It’s our third time at Bancone, we’ve been to all 3 locations and they are all consistently spectacular. Favorite Italian restaurant in London. Please come to Paris!

Good food, well cooked and well looked after by service staff. Very polite and friendly. And atmosphere. You better book a table before you hop, especially weekends. Highly recommend this branch near borough market.

Super tasty food with a great ambiance! The service was great! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Dana who was serving us was amazing. Made great suggestions and made us feel very looked after. Deffo get the artichoke with a side of bread (Dana's suggestion), burrata is so creamy, silk handkerchiefs with truffle is gorgeous, and the desserts are so yummy. I look forward to eating here again xx

Fantastic place, drinks and vibe! We had an amazing black pasta with scallops.

Turned up without a booking but they managed to find us a booth for an hour.. happy with that . Had the handkerchief parcels and the crab...both stunning. Could of eaten a bowlfull of both sauces. Gread atmosphere and great service from Dana, made us very welcome and explained each dish. But all the staff really friendly. Will certainly return.

Benji was great. He not only celebrated my Dad’s birthday excellently but continue to serve with exceptional service and a smile. He always looked after us along with all other of his tables. Overall the restaurant and our server were incredible. Would recommend.

Go here to eat pasta. Every pasta dish we had was exemplar! Coupled with decent wine at very reasonable prices it’s a damn good option. Nice setting but would benefit from linen table cloths as a quick fix for the rather loud atmosphere. The Gorgonzola, Swiss Chard, Pappardelle, Guanciale was bloody excellent 👌🏻 and the stand out dish along with the Praline Cannolo, Crystallised Hazelnuts for pudding. Yum

Service isn't great, I was on my own and given a counter seat - I asked if I could have a table as I have a bad back but I was told no as the tables were all taken. However, when I left I counted 8 empty tables. The disabled toilet seat was completely broken, I don't think they cater well here for anyone who isn't a fit and healthy person. The food was good but not as good as Golden Square. The staff clearly were still preparing the restaurant until at least 1230, I would have expected them to be ready as soon as they opened. All in all I won't be back.

If you want some good pasta this is a place to come to. The pasta and quantity was well worth it and the wine was very tasty. Also our waiter Benjamin was very friendly and made us feel comfortable in the restaurant. Definitely coming back!!

We had a great time! Right from the moment we sat down, Benjamin was very attentive, made fantastic recommendations and took the time to check in during the meal. Recommend dining here for pasta if you can!

We started with the sourdough which was lovely and soft with a crunchy salted crust. The olive oil was very fragrant and just perfect. I had a nice citrusy and bitter non-alcoholic drink I've forgotten the name of. Would highly recommend. The silk handkerchiefs with autumn truffle was my main and it was delicious. You could definitely taste the truffle but it wasn't overpowering. The texture of the pasta was lovely and it was great for mopping up the sauce made of a blend of egg yolk, walnut butter and so much parmesean cheese. I was able to try all 3 desserts and my favourite was the chocolate with lime. Rich, dense, delicious. Not something you can't get elsewhere but you won't be disappointed. The Creme caramello was a fun texture and I enjoyed the coffee flavour. I wasn't a big fan of the pistachio cannolo, there was a strong almond flavour that I don't personally enjoy. Overall, lovely food and service. The venue was slightly loud but that is to be expected for dining at peak hour on a week night. 6.30pm dinner, Thursday 24 October, table for 6.

I’ve already visited Bancone twice during my stay in London! The chefs are serious and professional about their cooking. The taste and price of the handkerchief pasta are both excellent.

Four of us went there for this evening. Love the atmosphere not too quiet or too nosy. Marian happily seated us and provided an excellent friendly service explaining the dishes when asked and even offered to take photos for us after seeing my daughter taking photos of food. Already I am arranging to bring my in-laws who will be coming to London next week. By far, the best Italian restaurant for me. Their dishes are a hugh different from the traditional Italian pastas that I had before. And the desserts especially the caramel are to die for. Highly recommend the Scallop, Miso, Pickled Fennel, Charcoal Tagliolini, Fried Artichoke, Crème Caramello, Coffee, Buckwheat and the Handkerchief. Bancone, I will be back to try the rest of the menu. Marian is a keeper, he deserves a pat on the shoulders and a pay rise or promotion for being a first class server.

Had such a good experience here. Pasta was delicious and unbelievably good value for somewhere so central. Had the chocolate desert which was also amazing. We sat at the counter and it was great to watch the chefs making the dishes. Service was top notch - especially from Benjamin! Can’t wait to return!

Absolutamente horrible experiencia. Era nuestra primera vez y será la última. Pedimos entrantes... pero nunca llegamos. Finalmente, cuando decidieron traerlo fue con el principal. Obviamente lo devolvimos. Mi compañero en medio de su cena pidió una copa y de nuevo nunca llegó hasta después de que pedimos la cuenta. El encargado dejó la bebida en la mesa después de que le pidieramos la cuenta. Ella vino a buscar el pago y dijo que tomamos la bebida de la factura por ti. Mi pareja dijo por supuesto que ni siquiera lo he bebido y no lo quiero. Quería con mi comida. Su respuesta fue: bueno, hoy está muy ocupado. Si es nuestra culpa que el restaurante esté muy ocupado en el centro de Londres. Ella se despertó y volvió para que paguemos y en nuestra factura tenía cargo por servicio. Pedimos que lo quitaran. Pagamos y ni una sola palabra de disculpa. Este lugar es muy caro por un servicio terrible. Hemos estado en tantos lugares y pagado mucho más de lo que cobran, pero el servicio, la ubicación, el ambiente, la comida todo eso y más merecía.

Una experiencia horrible. Servicio terrible y desdeñoso. Varias partes del pedido no fueron entregadas. Intentaron imponer un cargo por el peor servicio imaginable. Muy caro por no mucho.

One fine lunch accompanied by excellent service and great attention to detail. The best “cacio e pepe” we’ve ever had even though we recently ate at one of Rome’s best and most renowned restaurant. We were also lucky to catch the truffle season 👌🏻 Special thanks to Benjamin, who made our son’s day with his extra generous portion of parmigiano 🧀

We loved our dinner at Bancone! We had an early evening reservation before other evening activities but the atmosphere was still amazing. We were greeted by a very nice hostess who also served as our server for the first half of our time there. She was overly polite, gave us great recommendations (which we listened to & were glad we did), and consistently checked in on us - something I don’t feel you get much of in Europe. We wanted to Michelin experience while not having to spend a ton. This definitely met those expectations & did so at a very affordable price. For drinks, we had the classic negroni & dirty martini. Both were delicious & affordable for London pricing. As recommended by the server, we had the lardo on toast & cauliflower salad as appetizers (both very delicious) and silk handkerchiefs & scallop and charcoal tagliolini as our main courses. We are still dreaming of the pastas - they were incredible! Definitely recommend a visit. We didn’t necessarily need a reservation given the time of day we were there but would recommend one to ensure you get a spot as it was starting to fill in as we were leaving.

As lovely as other Bancone venue Handkerchief with egg yolk and truffle (autumn only) is amazing £7 negroni are simple but efficient!

Amazing experience. The server was so friendly when me, my bf and his friend came into the restaurant. The food selection here is amazing and I found out their menu differs in each Bancone restaurant around London which makes me want to go to their other restaurants. The pasta options were amazing. I got the chicken liver pasta and would definitely go for the miso scallop pasta when I come back here.

We had a lovely dinner as first time visitors. The venue was nice looking and presentable, matching the aesthetics of the area. Menu wise, they go for quality over quantity. They do one thing and they do it right. The food tasted amazing, and the pasta stole the show. They give a lovely hand drawn birthday card. You defiantly get your money’s worth. Can’t leave service behind, as everyone was very caring, spiritual and enjoyable to interact with. Big thank you to Benjamin for taking care of us. We will definitely be back.

Super nice restaurant - very relaxed atmosphere. The food there was very tasty, totally fresh and prepared quickly. The service was very good, everyone was really friendly, courteous and attentive. Only recommended!

The food was good, and portions were manageable. What we didn't like were: * no provision for any celebration of a birthday event. We had to buy a dessert to do this. Understandable if the restaurant had to scrimp every cent, but not a nice response when we ask. * no provision to pack the food that could not be consumed. This leads to unnecessary food waste. I would wonder why this is the case, that a restaurant would not encourage responsibility toward reducing food wastage. Other than one staff, most other staff's service we encountered can only be described as "non-warm".

Not my favourite, but great quality and vibes. Just not my personal preference. The Burrata Tomato was very very good

Lots of options for vegetarians, great service and very pretty interior however food was quite average. I ordered chard and chilli pasta + some sides. Pasta lacked some flavour that you would expect from a restaurant dish, and tasted a bit like a regular pesto pasta. The same happened with the sides - artichoke served on a Romano sauce was a bit too oily and not have any flavour in itself. However you can’t complain about the prices :)

Food here is delicious and so reasonably priced for the portion sizes. We had great service too, super attentive, helpful and friendly staff which made a world of difference. Our 4 stars for the atmosphere was purely because we found the restaurant to be uncomfortably hot. The air con was off and it was really stuffy and warm. We were grateful for the fresh air when we eventually left.

Went on a Sunday 1pm for a lunch with two others pre booked however they were taking some walk ins. They were fairly busy but there was enough staff and we were served frequently and politely. I had the cauli salad for starters which was very nice and the other two shared a burrata and focaccia which was also lovely. They used to serve a cod’s roe dish which was fantastic but sadly not on the menu anymore and th starter selection wasn’t great. For mains I had the scallop miso tagliolini which was good but very rich but for £17 only five or six slices of scallop really isn’t a lot at all. The pasta was nicely cooked and the sauce was good too. The rest of the table had the gnocchi and the pork nduja which was also good. Good value but not a massively memorable dinner so not five stars quality. The restaurant was a good size with good spacing between tables but being in a railway arch it was prone to echos which wasn’t helped by the volume of the dance music being played. A real irritation alongside a decent lunch.

Very nice surprise!!! I had the opportunity to discover your restaurant while passing through London and I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the dishes is perfect with lots of taste and lovely presentation. Very good, welcome and staff, very pleasant. I recommend and will come back.

Great food and fantastic service

This is another one of those instagrammable restaurants that provide pretty food, but which lacks in every other department. I was recommended this place and was hoping that it would be as good as they made it look on paper but pasta dishes that left you dissapointed, along with dreadful service is not really my idea of a good meal out. When compared with the likes of Cafe Murano or Manteca, you would be best served by going to those for better food, better service and a better quality slice of hospitality, not just a transactional meal by a high end Bella Pasta.

Overall it's a nice restaurant with good quality cooking and I'll probably go back there. The starters were excellent, we had the cauliflower salad, the burrata and the focaccia bread. Nice flavours and textures in everything. The mains had good quality ingredients and cooking, but I personally wasn't a fan of the miso in the scallop pasta (it gave a weird oiliness to the dish) although the other ingredients in the dish were nice. The cacio e Pepe was decent but nothing to write home about. The service differed between the three staff members who served us- two staff members were very friendly and welcoming, and the other staff member was quite deadpan and expressionless, although he wasn't impolite in any way.

Amazing experience. The starters are very intricate, tried the artichoke and it was a next level culinary experience. The pastas are all extremely good. Will definitely have to come back to try more items on the menu. The staff was kind and patient and the prices are really reasonable. Definitely my nr1 recommendation for an Italian dinner from now on.

Some of the best food I've ever eaten. The crispy oysters were unreal, and their signature silk handkerchiefs dish is so simple, but so so good. I also made a silly mistake when I booked, and booked for the next month – But the staff were so kind and squeezed us in even though they were so busy! (We've kept the booking for next month too because we can't wait to go back 😅)

La comida es similar, pero los cócteles son mejores aquí, al igual que la ubicación que está debajo de los arcos en Borough Yards. Las zonas de bares es un pequeño sol encantador - trampa también!

Great food, awful service. Shame. The food really was excellent. It's just a shame we had to wait so long for it. Totally unnecessary. I wouldn't say don't go here. Just if you do, and start to feel you have waited too long then do say something as they may have lost your order.
