Food was a bit underwhelming, Stefan the supervisor was arrogant and agressive and made us not enjoy our dinner. We've been going to Bancone regularly since 2018, back when they only had the Covent Garden one open and it was our favourite restaurant at the time. 6 years later, this 3rd branch is nowhere near what the 1st restaurant used to be like. The place looks nice, but the food is unseasoned, overpriced for what it tastes like and the focaccia was dry and probably been out in the air for a while before they served it. Being in Borough Market, I'm sure that it will appeal to tourists, but realistically I doubt that people who live in London would actual return for a second visit. Our waitress was very nice, the manager of the restaurant was very professional, but Stefan, the supervisor who served our drinks was aggressive, off-putting and is definitely working in the wrong industry. Note to Stefan: please be more mindful of the fact that your clients might be better travelled and generally have a better understanding of what the food and drinks should be served like than you. Being condescending when you have no leg to stand on makes you just look completely unpressional and quite frankly, obnoxious.

This is a rather mixed review. The 5* is for Eoin at the bar and how the restaurant sorted out a problem. Food - hmm. Any restaurant specialising in pasta should get every pasta dish spot on, right? Sadly, my mafalde went back twice. There is a very real difference between al dente and undercooked such that it tastes floury and has way more “bite” than it should, which is how this came out twice. The starters and my friend’s silk handkerchiefs were fab though. Eoin at the bar (it’s definitely his bar and he takes great pride in the booze and the service) was exceptional. He provided excellent advice and tastes of wine before we chose what we would have. He also makes a superb cocktail; the restaurant definitely needs to add a limoncello spritz to the menu in time for the warmer weather that might arrive (hopefully). In terms of making things better, they took the suboptimal main dish off the bill and comped a dessert and a limoncello each. I always think how a restaurant remediates a problem is very telling and the team got it right. However, it’s disappointing it was necessary.

Each of the 5 Pasta dishes we tried were very tasty - some of the best pasta I tried in London. The portions, on the other hand, were quite small, and the variety of food in the menu is pretty much non-exist. A couple of starter options and pasta - that’s pretty much it Dishes are non-customizable, which was quite sad. Even a simple request for a different pasta type was not considered. Service was good in general, although not more than that - just good, what I would expect from any other restaurant with food at that price point. The vibe was not great, the restaurant is tiny, very loud inside. We had to sit next to the bar. No outdoor seating.

“Underwhelming”, I think that’s the word I’m looking for. This is one of those hyped restaurants people (and social media) tell you to go. So we did a reservation. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, but it was the only kind service we encountered that night. My husband and I were seated between two tables, one of them had just received their main dishes when we got there. It took over 20 minutes for us to have our orders taken. The table next to our left had already ordered desserts. The other table on the right had just arrived and had already ordered. Us, for some reason, had to wait for a long time. When we finally managed to get our food, everything was so fast paced that it lacked a quality atmosphere. The focaccia was stale, it tasted like something you can buy from Tesco. Olives were the same, I’ve had better for free in different restaurants. The Lardo on Toast was good, but underwhelming. Maybe I had higher expectations that it deserved, but I think it lacked quality. It’s okay to have a simple and straightforward dish, but at least you’d expect high quality ingredients, which weren’t the case. It was mid. Then the mains arrived. They were really good. The scallops coated with miso were definitely tasty and different from what I’d usually expect in Italian restaurants. Also in a rush, our dessert was ordered. We got the chocolate with mascarpone. Again, underwhelming. The combination is interesting and the lime zest gives a hint of citrus that breaks the intensity of the chocolate. But, again, the brownie quality isn’t much different from what you can get in a high street store anywhere. I wouldn’t come back to Bancone. Even though my main dish was great, I don’t think it’s worthy to have to book and plan in advance. If it was a neighborhood restaurant in the corner, I would consider. But it’s definitely not up to its social media hype.

I reserved a table at Bancone for my birthday, although I cheekily had my partner foot the bill! Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We began by savouring two servings of fragrant rosemary and sea salt focaccia. Pairing it with velvety burrata was enjoyable Our pasta choices were equally impressive; the vibrant green cavolo nero with chilli on casarecce pasta was visually striking and bursting with flavour, but it was the roasted pumpkin ravioli with oyster mushrooms and sage brown butter that stole the show with its exceptional taste. My only qualm was with the portion sizes; I found myself craving more. We concluded our meal with two decadent desserts: a smooth crème caramello infused with coffee and buckwheat, offering a delightful slide-down-the-throat experience, and a rich chocolate dessert with mascarpone and lime. The stylish interiors with industrial touches make Bancone a perfect choice for special occasions or, if your budget allows, for regular indulgence.

We were originally a table of 4, but turned into a last-minute table of 6, we were accomdated for and seated promptly after arrival. Christina who looked after us had an in-depth knowledge of the cooking techniques, flavour profiles and ingredients and was able to give us lots of pointers on what to order both food and drink wise - thank you! Scallop, fennel and charcoal tagliolini dish sounded unusual on paper but ended up being the hit dish of the evening. Would definitely come again to this branch of Bancone

This is their third branch which was opened fairly recently. Food wise it was ok, although not sure why the spicy pork pasta was a little cold. The chocolate cake dessert was delicious nice and chocolatey. Still in my opinion the Covent Garden branch is better in terms of the food. However, the venue is lovely, nice and spacious and just by Borough market. Customer service was great and price wise it was reasonable. Overall still a decent Italian restaurant if you are nearby and fancy some pasta. Good for a date, catch with colleagues or friends ;)

My friend and I visited one midweek evening without a reservation and were lucky enough to be seated. The waiters were lovely, they helped us with menu recommendations and service was attentive. The wine was a fabulous match for the food and we both enjoyed the food. Not an extensive menu but it proves the food is of excellent, fresh quality. The nduja ragu was delicious, although I felt the pasta itself was a bit thick, borderline stodgy in large portions. Would still consider returning here, at some point in the future.

As we were a large group, we had the private dining area upstairs, and we had a lot of dishes that we shared. We had the burrata, confit tomato and basil, grilled artichoke, romesco, and chervil. Focaccia, silk handkerchiefs, walnut butter, confit egg yolk, roasted pumpkin ravioli, squid with charcoal tagliolini, and the spicy pork ragu. Every single dish was well cooked and served at a good temperature. The service was attentive and helpful.

My experience at Bancone restaurant left much to be desired. Despite specifying it was a birthday celebration when making the reservation, I was disappointed by their inability to accommodate even a basic request for a candle or a birthday message on the dessert. This discrepancy left me wondering about the purpose of the occasion section in the booking process. Furthermore, the starter of focaccia with artichoke dip failed to meet expectations; the focaccia was stale, and the dip lacked the promised abundance of artichoke. Although the pasta mains were enjoyable, the overall ambiance was overshadowed by excessive noise. In contrast, I much prefer the relaxed atmosphere and consistent food quality at the Covent Garden location.

We went to Bancone in Borough last weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Atmosphere was nice, the food was also very good. The reason for the low rate is the complete lack of service, which kind of ruined the whole experience for us, despite the rest being fairly positive. We sat down and had to wait 10 mins before the waiter approached us asking if we wanted to order drinks, which was ok - we weren't in a rush at the time. We mistakenly didn't order food in that moment, which led us to wait another good 20 mins at least before we had to stop one of the managers that was passing by to take our food orders. Starters came, we finished and waited for the mains. Another half hour went by. By 10 past 9pm (we booked our table for 7:30) our mains arrived. The mains were good and perfectly al dente (cacio e pepe and the handkerchiefs), but we had to leave quite quickly by the end of it, as we had made reservation elsewhere - hence why we didn't dispute the service charge, otherwise we wouldn't have paid for it. Overall, no attention to details, no questions were asked whether we were ok with the food, or if we wanted more water/drinks or even dessert. There was a fairly big party next to our table and the only waiter on the floor (we were sitting in the mezzanine) was understandably very busy, so this could have been the reason for the lack of service, but anyway, not an excuse. Not sure if we'd give Bancone another try - there are much better pasta places in London and yeah, it's always a bit frustrating when the food is nice but the service non-existent.

One of many, but seriously good pasta places in London! If you’re obsessed with pasta like me, you’re going to love this. Nice spot for a date or simply a nice meal. As a local, I can say that Borough and London Bridge area are filled with Italian restaurants gems. Bancone is not one of them. Took half an hour for the food to finally get to our table, the ravioli was flooded in oily sauce / butter and the meat was chewy and hard to cut. The cauliflower and apples mix were flooded in vinegar and salt. Extremely disappointed., I, will not go back and definitely do not recommend.

Overall, a very disappointing experience. I've been to the Soho branch many times and always had a wonderful time, but today both the service and food were wanting. My pasta, the scallop tagliolini in miso, was swimming in butter to the point I could not finish the dish. The waiters were very abrupt and did not put any effort into introducing the menu. The final straw was when everyone was kicked out of the restaurant at 9.25pm, which is exceptionally early for a Sunday night. The lights were suddenly switched on and there was not the slightest hint of apology. I will not be returning.

Don't think I'll be going back. Some of the dishes were lovely and flavourful (like the cauliflower salad and miso scalop pasta) but some were disappointing (esp dry focaccia, and pumpkin in the ravioli tasted burnt). However, I was mainly put off by the service - hard to get hold of and quite curt. Greeting staff was lovely, but thats where good service ended.

Bancone Borough yards offeed friendly but slightly slow service. Although a starter was forgotten, the main course was enjoyable. The standout was the white wine. However, the restaurant's prices and reputation may not match the experience, leading to feeling it is overrated. Despite these drawbacks, the atmosphere and food quality were noted. Whenever we're in Borough Market we have to have lunch at this lovely friendly place. The food is delicious, they make their own pasta daily and the service is quick and efficient. We had the artichoke starter with foccacia and rosemary on the side, followed by two pasta dishes, the pumpkin ravioli and the papardelle with gorgonzola, all of excellent quality. We'll definitely be back!

A great time! Super spot for a meal amongst the buzz of Borough. We went for my birthday lunch and had variety of the pasta plates and a couple of cocktails. The highlight for us was the pumpkin ravioli and the silk hankerchiefs with walnut butter. My only remark is that the tables for two are pretty close together so you can kiss goodbye to any intimacy... but that's ok as your face will be full of pasta anyway.

To start, I had Bancone's Sardinian speck, with their venison ragu pappardelle to follow as my main. The speck was a light, tasty treat that I think sets up the main course quite well. This was my first time having venison and I must say after this meal I'd love to try it again. The meat was perfectly tender and seasoned extremely well. I did find however that the portion of meat in the dish was a bit sparse, which was a particular point of disappointment (but maybe that's to be expected). However, ignoring that, the meal was tasty and I can have no other complaints about how the meat & pasta were prepared and served. Overall, a meal I would have again and would recommend to any pasta or venison lovers! Be sure to pair the venison Ragu with their Primitivo red wine 😉

Even though we made a reservation, the men guided us to a bar table. There were a lot of people and there were no seats, so they seemed to have guided us to a bar table, but the chairs were high and there was no space for outerwear and bags, so when we asked, they told us we could just put them on the ground. Since we had made a reservation, we asked another friendly female waiter to give us a seat. It was uncomfortable, so I asked if I could change seats. Five minutes later, we were moved to a table that could seat two people and finished eating. However, on the way up to the bathroom, there was another large room. There were many tables and some people were already eating. Even though we made a reservation, we didn't understand the male employees who showed us to the bar table in the far corner. I ordered a glass of Orange Blossom and got two. They had no explanation. I asked the female waitress and said that we thought our order was wrong and that we only ordered orange blossom, so we took it back and they removed it from our receipt. Actually, I'm not sure if directing us to the bar table was racist toward Asians, but I was embarrassed and offended because it went against my common sense. Even at a Michelin-starred restaurant, they ask you to put down your clothes, bags, and luggage on the floor while cooking.? can not believe it. When I finished eating and tried to go out, the door wouldn't open. This store locks and opens its doors with a key. Since we couldn't open the door, they opened the door and laughed amongst themselves a lot. It was very unpleasant. And the dishes were very greasy. The first bite is the most delicious. I admit that the price is cheap.

Authentic Italain, very good value for money. We did not feel like the waiter checked in on us again after serving our food as we both wanted to order drinks to go with it and were undecided. Towards the end of the meal, we just asked for a refill on our tap water as there was no point in getting a drink when the food was almost gone. It was a busy time, so its understandable that they did not find the time to check in with us.

I have been to Bancone twice now, and have enjoyed the menu on both occasions. This is one of those rare restaurants where taste and texture really matter to their chef: the food a is rich and deeply satisfying, and the range of tastes very different to what you'd get in an "average" Italian restaurant. Coupled with good, friendly and personable service, this is a very good restaurant indeed in a centre awash with fair to average options.

We also saw a mouse running about by the mirror just as our main courses were served which was very off putting!! I wasn’t really sure what to do with this at the time but a few other people saw it and were quite shocked. Possibly something for Southwark council to look into because it would definitely affect food hygiene!

Busy restaurant but the service was on point. On arrival we were seated and not long after we were offered water, by that point we already knew what we wanted so we ordered. Our drinks was on the table within moments of ordering and not long after the food started arriving. We ordered 3 of the Silk Handkerchiefs pasta. For me, it could have been served with a bit more of the walnut butter however, the dish didn’t disappoint. After demolishing our plates, we had a look at the menu again and spotted the Venison Ragu and this was like heaven on a plate. I’m not a fan of Venison but this plate ticked all the boxes. If you’re planning to visit Bancone, this dish is highly recommended.

Lovely food, we’ll priced and great atmosphere. We tried a trio of pasta based off the very helpful and knowledgeable waitress and they did not disappoint. It was all delicious and made fresh right in front of us. Booking is highly recommended but if you’re willing to be sat fairly close, the counter top is a delightful experience as my partner and I enjoyed watching the kitchen process.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to your staff Vendy. I kindly asked if I was able to charge my phone while I’ll wait outside for my booking which was an hour and a half away. It was a wet and rainy day but Vendy insisted that I wait inside the restaurant whilst my phone was charging. The customer service displayed is just impeccable and it’s a restaurant I already love. She is beyond amazing and I’m so grateful for her kind gesture!!

So so good. Went here with my husband last night. Food is fantastic and really reasonably priced. The staff were really nice and professional. Loved seeing into the open, well-oiled machine-like kitchen all evening. Drinks were delicious and we were able to get a really lovely bottle of wine. Loved the energy of the place as well. It’s so easy for spots in Borough/zone 1 generally to fall into being unaffordable, but this was a real treat that we were able to have such a fantastic night without breaking the bank. Will definitely be back in the future.

Disclaimer: I'm Italian. The pastas were alright but nothing to write home about. Most of my perplexity is about the service, it's not a big menu nor a big wine list, yet the staff was a bit confused about it all and we had to wait quite a bit and wave someone down - the place was not empty but not manic either. They brought us a bottle of screw top wine, opened it, came back to take the top - unscrewed it, re-screwed it and eventually left with it - which is fine, but was just showing some lack of training in the staff. If you fancy some pasta and you have to stay in the area, it's a good enough option. I wouldn't recommend it as a place if you want to impress someone.

The food was pretty good. I got the pumpkin ravioli, my husband got the taglioni with truffle and our friend got the pork pasta nduja gluten free. We also ordered the focaccia and the burrata and a bottle of red wine. I didn't like th salt in the focaccia but the burrata was yum. Our server, however, was not helpful; she didn't check up on us and everyone around us got their entrees well before we did. After waiting half hour, we finally got a hold of her and she said the food would come out soon. Ten minutes later it finally did. Additionally, when we were deciding on the wine. She asked if we needed help deciding which bottle and we said yes but she basically said nothing, waited for us to ask about certain bottles, didn't have much info and was overall stoic and unhelpful. The other service staff were great but having our server soured our evening and I definitely would not return. We were annoyed we had to tip her.

Food was very overrated and tasteless. Ordered three different dishes and all of them were undercooked and with very little sauce. Focaccia was super disappointing. They should tell if its not fresh. It was very dry, tasteless and seemed old. Atmosphere ok, nothing special. Service ok, took long someone to take the empty plates. Dishes look good and the place as well but i cant say I would come again, unfortunately.

Having previously visited Bancone and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I was naturally intrigued to explore their new establishment in Borough Yards. Nestled beneath the charming arches of a railway, the restaurant's ambiance was nothing short of captivating. From the very instant we stepped through the entrance, we was greeted by a team that exuded warmth and attentiveness, setting the tone for the whole evening. Exploring the menu, I was delighted to encounter a selection of new dishes. The Lardo on toast with truffled honey was an absolute revelation. Another highlight of the evening was the Chargrilled Ginger Pig pork chop. The pork chop was succulent and tender and packed full of flavour. The overall experience at Bancone in Borough Yards was a testament to their dedication to delivering an exceptional dining experience. The welcoming and attentive team, combined with the remarkable decor and exceptional dishes, culminated in a truly memorable evening.

Went hungry,left hungry. We ordered three pasta dishes to share and one portion of focaccia to start with. The focaccia was not good,seemed old..probably of the day before. The pasta itself its not bad,but the sauces are tasteless. The gongorzola cheese was not the proper one,seemed more like a sauce with very little of it. Pappardelle with Venison ragù were tasteless, and not willing to pay 17£ for that small amount of meat in the ragù. In the end, pumpkin ravioli were just bad ..the filling had no taste and there was a lake of butter in dish…and no sage! Paid 40£ each, was not worth it. In 2019 my experience was completely different,pasta used to be good!!

Great experience overall! If I could I would give it a 4.5 instead of 5. Not because anything at all was wrong, but just because nothing was extraordinary or super special. It’s a nice minimal industrial style space with really good pasta. We went for lunch on a Thursday so it was quiet but I can see how it gets very loud and busy there in the evening and weekends. Good service as well. The ragu was delicious but a dish we had many times before. The mackerel pasta thought was delicious and very special! The cauliflower salad for a starter was also really good even though quite a small portion.

We have recently moved to the area and this is one of the places I had on my list to try out. Not many options on a Sunday evening but we were really thrilled with what we found. It started with the house primitivo, which was delicious and at just the right temperature. We shared a yummy burata and then shared the pumpkin pasta and the gorgonzola pasta. Both were just al dente and gorgeous. So obviously we had a dessert and that was scrummy too. Nice friendly staff rounded off an excellent eveing. Thank you!
