Hannah and her team took on the mammoth task of catering for our garden wedding last week. Hannah went above and beyond on the run up to the wedding meeting numerous times to discuss menus, drinks options and also helped to sort other necessities such as bins and bar hire. Hannah ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish, overseeing every last detail. Will and Pauline headed up the staffing on the day and were simply fabulous. They were friendly and professional and worked non stop. I can’t thank the team enough for everything they did to ensure we had the perfect day.

Lovely little place , dog friendly on the back terrace .. fantastic service with a smile and healthy tasty food options reasonably priced and freshly made ..just perfect for our cuppa and lunch after a long dog walk on the beach .

Brilliant from start to finish! The food was delicious unfortunately we didn't have room for any of their wide selection of cakes. This place is ace! Food was delicious and service was A1. Definitely visiting again. Friendly and fresh.

Not a nice experience this Bank Holiday Monday morning. Ordered a small breakfast which was luke warm, I had already swapped toast with my husband as his was burnt and his breakfast luke warm also. I asked for mine to be reheated which was a mistake because that was exactly what they did and still the burnt toast came back. We won't be returning.

Lovely place to eat staff were attentive lovely view from windows bit off putting as the kitchen were closing at 2pm for private function so kind of felt like had to rush our food down and leave as soon as possible

Nice view and drinks/food are good The staff make me feel like they are disappointed when we order coffees and a tea cake- then I feel like they rush us out. The waitress cleared the table before my wife had finished her drink. Not bad just a strange environment

Had booked ahead as a birthday treat for my Mum. We requested a window table overlooking the beautiful marine lake across the Dee Estuary to North Wales. I'd noticed the Bistro does afternoon tea so we thoroughly enjoyed this special occasion with some prosecco. Service was very good and even though it was a busy lunch period and very popular, we were made to feel special with a lovely touch when Stevie Wonders "Happy Birthday" classic played out as the prosecco arrived at our table. Well done 'Team Tanskys', my Mum loved every second so thanks for making her day extra special. 👌👏

Fantastic location overlooking the marina lake at west Kirby, we only called in for a drink but thoroughly enjoy the experience .

Came here for lunch, sat in the outdoor area which was dog friendly, was even provided with a few dog treats which was nice of them. Food + drink was great, good value for money would visit again.

We're not local but have visited West Kirkby twice in the last two months. On the first occasion we happened upon Tanskeys whilst walking down the prom, feeling a bit peckish and needing the loo. This time we made a beeline for it because we knew they'd welcome us with our dogs in comfortable surroundings and serve delicious lunchtime food in a friendly and efficient manner. Lovely staff. Thank you 😊

Tanskeys is a beautiful cafe, best location in West Kirby, yet the management is non existent. Who is managing this place? Apparently no one. We live very locally and visit very frequently. Very hit and miss service depending on server. If you arrive within one hour of closing you are made to feel most uncomfortable. We have now walked out of here on 3 occasions due to being ignored. Yesterday, we arrived at 2pm wanting lunch. It was unusually quiet, only 3 or 4 tables occupied. We were sitting on the terrace. Totally ignored for ten minutes. I went in to request menus and even had to queue at an empty counter, still ignored by 4 staff behind bar, to ask for menus. I thanked them saying’we’re sitting outside’. After a further 10 minutes, cafe was unusually quiet, still being ignored, we returned the menus and left. No response from the staff. The food is very good. The location is perfect. The service is appalling. It’s crying out for new management. So much potential. I am writing this review as someone who loves the place and comes more than once a week.

Didn't eat there, had a drink on a hot day, nice atmosphere and pleasant surroundings

Haven’t been here for a few months and we felt it had changed. Device was slow and we had to ask for our order to be taken. Coffee was hot but not much flavour. Sausage sandwich was tasteless and red sauce watery! Poached eggs were ok.

Lovely location, nice premises, efficient service and clean well presented food. Spoiled by cheerless staff who gave the impression of not wanting to be there. A smile goes a mile, but not here.

Arrived at 16:10 to be greeted by a survey young lady who told us that as the shut at 17:00 we would be unable to have hot drinks! So, we ordered 2 cold drinks and 3 ice creams. Half an hour later when they hadn't arrived we left. The minute we left (before 17:00) they locked the metal gates. Sadly we will not be going back. There are many other places to get drinks in West Kirby. Shame though

I give it 3 stars as our dogs were welcome but the coffee was awful.

We’ve been here before when in West Kirby, nice setting overlooking the marine lake, lovely staff, clean and good food n drink, had bacon sausage and egg on toasted white bread, really enjoyed it, Pepsi to wash it down with but you can get alcoholic beverages too, all in all very enjoyable.

We enjoyed a late lunch while in the area attending The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. Great fish goujons and homemade chips. Appreciate service and recommendations from Pauline - Liverpool One was a great find.

This cafe is SO nice to go to, it is also a bar and bistro in the evening. We came for morning coffee after walking along the prom. There is a great view of the Dee Estuary and Marine Lake, and we were lucky to have a window table, with a good view out of the sparkling clean window. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Generous pot of tea for my hubby and generous helping of delicious cake. I had a latte, really hot too which can sometimes not happen. Everywhere was really clean. Reasonable prices

We stopped for coffee and cake. Nice little place, well kept and adequate as a cafe. We didn't have any food, bar the cake, so only commenting on the this and the coffee. Nicely situated in a little park.

Dog friendly and really chilled.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Tea and coffee excellent but cups are rubbish. They are heavy and have virtually no handles. You can't put a finger through the handle and for people (like me) who have arthritis, it is impossible to hold the cup level. Rethink the crockery please.

🇬🇧 We went for a walk with a couple of friends and we ended up in this amazing town. We wanted to grab a bite so this was the best option for the time it was. We got some calamari, cod dejouns and Chicken coronation sandwich. Everything was tasty and good. The service was quick and attentive each moment and they let us finish even tough the venue was being closed. Really good value for 💰 money. Views, other feature of the eatery to be considered because you can admire the sea from it. 🇪🇸Salimos a caminar con un par de amigos y terminamos en este increíble pueblo. Queríamos tomar un bocado, así que esta fue la mejor opción para el momento. Conseguimos algunos calamares, bacalao dejouns y sándwich de coronación de pollo. Todo estaba sabroso y bueno. El servicio fue rápido y atento en cada momento y nos dejaron terminar incluso cuando el local estaba cerrado. Muy buena relación calidad-precio por 💰 dinero. Las vistas, otra característica del restaurante a tener en cuenta porque desde él se puede admirar el mar.

First time in Tanskeys Bistro, lovely food, staff very nice and a lovely atmosphere, prices reasonable would visit again.

Love the cosy & friendly atmosphere here and great views looking out over the lake. The scones are to die for, served warm with all the trimmings, yummy! Perfect stop off on a walk. Highly recommend. Worth every penny.

Regulars at Tanskeys - or rather were regulars. came in most days last week. the apple pie in the counter display was looking a tad past its best and the next day it was there with a burned top having been put in the oven to freshen it up. it was definitively the same one because there was a broken edge missing from one piece and that was still there. That is why bins were invented Tanskeys.

The lovely Hannah & her team are very welcoming & accommodating. Delicious food, lovely decor, Fantastic location. One of my absolute favourite places. Scones are the best in Wirral!

I am not a well person and wanted a quiet late lunch with my partner on his only day off from work. We waited ages to place our order and were surprised that no-one else was eating and people coming in were only ordering drinks. We thought this was odd and then there was simple commotion as three people were setting up for live music which became too loud for the size of the place. We were the only two eating , which we have never experienced before and conversation was impossible and would have been somewhat rude. ..Surely there should be a warning of loud music and then people can decide. A pity that we had travelled for over an hour to be so disappointed. At least we know to now cross it off our list.

I wanted a small, intimate venue to celebrate my 70th birthday alongside 30 friends and family. The venue was perfect and the food excellent. The staff as always welcoming, attentive and very efficient. Strongly recommended

Came to West Kirby on a warm day for the beach, having been here before we dropped in for breakfast, only had toast n marmalade and a brew but it was very good, lovely setting too overlooking the sea!

We love this place normally but today we had to wait ages to pay our bill. When my wife who is kenyan light heartedly said to the staff member we were waiting the waitress (older than all the other staff, to identify her) this waitress...

Disappointing service. Order was all wrong, couldn't get anyone's attention, wasn't that busy, to change it or pay the bill. Seemed very uninterested in customer service which was a shame they used to be a lot better

So disappointed We called in for breakfast. No dogs allowed inside, so we sat outside. Given menus and left waiting. Went inside to order. 20 minutes later served 2 cold breakfasts. When we complained the waitress put her hands on the food and told us...

We visited Tanskeys after a walk on August Bank 2021, 1st time since Covid. Couldn't fault the service or food at all. Lovely meal.

Called after a walk round the marine lake, coffee good there so though we would call again. Board says wait here to be seated. Waited, waited - nothing. An acknowledgement would have been good and we have probably waited, we only wanted a takeaway coffee....

We popped in here for a cuppa and ended up having breakfast. Food lovely and reasonably priced, service excellent and a really nice atmosphere. It's really cute inside , better than it looks from the street!

Lovely staff, very clean. I had a jacket potato with coronation chicken, throughly enjoyed it. Plus a beautiful view of the yachts.

£2.85 for a teacake??? Bit steep!Was very surprised at being asked to fork out £2.85 for a teacake... can't afford to go there again.I know eateries are struggling with the pandemic but this is 10 times the retail price of a humble teacake.Not budget friendly in my view.

Found this on a walk down West Kirby promenade. It's a gorgeous place with a bistro bar vibe. The views are amazing as it over looks the water. They have a small outdoor area to the back but this is covered so would work even in unsettled weather. I was really impressed with the menu, lots of choice for breakfast, good choice of sandwiches and my favourite an excellent choice of lighter bites. The menu isn't too extensive but this for me usually indicates good quality and in this case it's most definitely the case. I also appreciated some good sea food on the lighter bites which considering the location is ideal. The staff are lovely, really accommodating and helpful. They make everyone feel very welcome. We'd definitely go back, excellent value for money and perfect location.

We waited at the entrance until a server spotted us and she cleared and cleaned a table for my husband and myself and said she would bring a menu to us. We obeyed the rules asking everyone to stay seated. The server came to the next table to us when they paid their bill but didn’t give us a glance. We waited and waited and saw two other parties arrive and shown to their tables and guess what, they were given menus. We waited a little longer then got up to walk out. As we left a different server appeared and said “thank you”. I explained the situation and she apologised. We won’t be returning.

we visited Tanskeys cafe the other day for the first time,we were very impressed with the service .and clenliness they were following all the qiudelines for covid .the food was delious the toilet was very clean .we felt very safe most enjoyable

I took my Mum out for her first post lockdown afternoon tea, as the sun was shining and the view is always good at Tanskeys. Unfortunately the service wasn't good. The tea was served relatively quickly but the food never arrived despite reminders, so we paid up and left and they didn't even mention the food we had ordered/ not received. There were 4 staff on serving, it was fairly quiet after 4pm, how do they cope when they're busy? There are so many great cafes in the area, all eager for business post lockdown that I'll be happy to give them my business instead as Tanskeys just gave the impression that they didn't care.

Visited Tanskeys to enjoy a birthday breakfast for my partner. I was very nervous as it was the first time out following lockdown being a “shielding” person. Well all I can say is that I need not have worried. It was clear that the place are taking their responsibilities very seriously and have embraced the new normal! Hand sanitiser station before you can enter. A one way system is in place to help you navigate around. The tables are all spaced out and I witnessed them and the chairs being disinfected between customers. I felt very safe.The views are spectacular across the marina over to Wales and if you are sitting out the back you’ll have equally tranquil views of the lovely gardens. We were made to feel very welcomed by the host and indeed by all the staff we encountered. Enjoyed coffees whilst waiting for our “small” and “large” breakfasts. There is nothing small about the “small” breakfast let me tell you! Delicious and plenty of it. The large was equally as tasty and wonderful value for money. The sausages were really tasty by the way! I did notice other breakfast options were available if perhaps you just wanted a bacon butty or similar smaller bites. I also enjoyed a nice cup of breakfast tea (it was Twinings so not a cheap tea as suggested by a previous reviewer - perhaps they’ve upgraded since that review?), anyway it was good and served in a tea pot.As it was a birthday treat we had a glass of Bucks Fizz each and whilst slightly indulgent, it was a nice addition to our morning and I’d thoroughly recommend it All in all I can’t fault this intimate, friendly and family run business. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning, so much so that we already booked for another visit next week.Highly recommended

Great views over the River Dee to Flintshire. Staff friendly, a small cafe, well stocked and suitable for light snacks and a good range of drinks. It has a hard floor and can be somewhat noisy at times. It also opens on to the promenade and into Coronation Gardens. Parking can be challenging on lovely sunny days and at weekends as the area is so popular.

Answer: When its been 'baked' in a microwave and bears no resemblance to a baked potato but is like a boiled potato. Not cheap either. Quite shocked as this restaurant is still passing off microwaved as 'baked' when there is so much competition with great little eateries in area. Also tea served in horrible heavy stoneware cups that you cant even get your finger in. And little heavy stoneware teapots that dont pour properly. Weak, cheap teabags too. The waitresses were lovely and attentive and its a great view.

We had visited Tanskeys on a few occasions, normally for a coffee while walking along the promenade or walking round the marina lake.Recently Tanskeys was used for a funeral reception for a former colleague which the colleague had requested in her will. Tanskeys would never advertise such functions as normal, as there were so many people attending, and the space is not all that sufficient for the number of people likely to attend a funeral function, but Tanskeys took the task on and tackled it with flying colours.We decided shortly after to visit the place on a lovely day and have coffee and a light meal. As expected, the service was excellent and the food was splendid. Although this is a bit out of our way, we would call in again when visiting West Kirby and we would not hesitate in recommending it to people living nearer.

I just wanted to thank the chef particularly as last Saturday we had lunch with you. It’s always such a relief to find somewhere to accommodate an 80 year old, a 4 year old and a puppy!!! But your fab chef went out of his way. My four year old son really wanted chicken nuggets (I know... believe me it wasn't me that started him on this!!) and I negotiated the conversation around other options as they weren’t in your menu. I’m not sure what happened but I found him talking at the bar to your team and when I joined the conversation (delayed by pup and elderly mum) the chef said he had some chicken nuggets and could make them for him. It had been a tough day and my little boy had been a star. His reward was well deserved and I’m very grateful. THANK YOU! Thanks for being brilliant and making my life that little bit easier.

Service a bit hit and miss and over priced for what it is. But free doggie biscuits a nice touch. Pick the right day and quite spectacular either in sun or storm at high tide - who needs Sea World ??!!

Arrived lunch time, got a table. Ordered drinks. Came and took our food order. There was a choice festive fares and original menu. I chose from original and husband chose from festive turkey ciabatta with pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and gravy. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Ham sandwich was very nice not sure why you don’t get full packet of crisps rather than a few. Turkey ciabatta was really nice as my husband said so no moan there. The only let down was the time scale it took for food to arrive.

Have been here many times always busy, food and service excellent and reasonably priced adviseable to book. Views over to North Wales and the prom fantastic would recommend.

Just walked in off the front and found a table. Food was quick and well presented. The whitebait especially was generous and very tasty according to my son ! My wife had the soup of the day which was lentil and bacon and I had the Brie ciabatta. All very tasty and I’d say value for money. Would recommend!

This is far more than a coffeehouse. First glance was deceptive on examination was impressed with the menu and standard of food was really good and reasonably priced. As busy as they were staff were very friendly and efficient. Definitely a place to return to.

We found Tanskeys a couple of months ago and have been a few times since. Often very busy so booking solves that problem we found. Had an excellent Coronation chicken baguette yesterday followed by their amazing scones. Great situation to break up a nice walk on the prom. Recommend

Been here a few times for lunch when visiting my mother. They do a very good americano, and sandwiches are well filled, with decent garnish, and great value

A lovely intimate coffeehouse overlooking West Kirby Lake boasting a panoramic view of the welsh mountains.

Called in for a coffee with a walking group. Service was immediate despite the cafe being packed with people for lunch time snacks. Nice spot in the outer part of the cafe with astro turf floor. Also a blanket for your knees!! Must recommend as that many people in there can't be wrong!
