I took my elderly mum out for lunch and when I asked for a diet coke, I was told that they didn't sell that and all cold drinks were in the cabinet. I asked if they had any other sugar free cold drink. I was told I'd have to look at the cans, or I could have water or a hot drink. I decided therefore to go without. The food = mum ordered the beef and ale pasty. It was so dried up and hard that she could barely cut it with a knife let alone her teeth! I did complain to the waitress who promised to feed back and waited a good 10 minutes or so as I thought someone might show some interest and come over. They didn't! I appreciate that things can go wrong in any business but it's how those things are dealt with that seperates the good from the average. With so many choices locally, can't say I'll be rushing back.

The food was very good, recommended the lamb and mint pasty. DIssapointed the farm shop was not bigger, and a table and chairs were in the shop itself so could not get to everything.

One star is for thelocation, Good place with so much of nature around us. Last week me & my son got coffee from the outside van which was good. Visited again on Sunday. Food was awful, very bland mushrooms, tasteless eggs& basic shop bought bread. This is all there for vegetarians & my flat white was awful again. Other family members ordered big breakfast. One of them enjoyed their meal. Very disappointed.

Best pre-prepared savoury healthy food for lunch for many many miles. The absolute opposite of a "greasy spoon" type place. Meat and veggie dishes. Creative salads. Great cakes so a great tea break stop as well. Some places its hard to choose because I don't fancy anything. Here its the opposite. I could eat it all so hard to pick just one!! Really nice atmosphere. Love it. Cyclists favourite cafe as well.

Have visited a few times in the last year - with a group of friends, with my boyfriend and most recently with my parents. Each time the lunch has been delicious and staff friendly. I usually go for the ham with a couple of the salads on the side. Plenty of seating indoors as well as outside. There is a public footpath located close to the cafe where you can enjoy an amazing circular walk passing small lakes, beautiful rural buildings and farmland. On my last visit, I couldn’t resist leaving with some homemade sausage rolls and an apple chutney. Looking forward to my next visit!

We were staying nearby and this place was recommended to us, We ended up going every day. There is a good choice of food for the vegan amongst us and the food was delicious. They also sell lovely homemade items and produce. Great atmosphere and staff are super nice. We visited in December and it was lovely and warm and cosy, Will definitely return for a yummy breakfast. The donkeys were not out in the field as it was too cold but we did sneak into the barn to see them.

A lovely farm shop and cafe. We visited here because we wanted somewhere that served breakfast and was dog friendly! Such a lovely setting with outdoor and indoor seating! Well behaved dogs allowed indoors. We ordered 2 full English breakfasts and it was delicious! They also had a counter filled with yummy choices of pies, quiches, salads etc which you can eat in or buy to take away, so didn’t miss the opportunity to buy a few goodies to enjoy later in the day as well. Very prompt and friendly service, clean and spacious and in a very pretty setting! Can’t recommend enough!

A very pleasant family setting with catering for children's meals and outdoor climbing frames and swings. Two donkeys in a field to observe. Food is of a very high standard and quality. However there is a very serious problem with wasps and they admit to having a severe problem by offering you a swat with which to fend them off. My wife and I were seated inside and after our food arrived, we immediately had 5-6 wasps around us attracted by our soft drinks and sweet pickle that came with my cheese board. We decided to move outside, which compounded the problem even further, we were swarmed and I was stung on the neck is less than two minutes. I was impossible to complete our meal in these conditions and abandoned it. We explained to the manager our dilemma and asked for a refund, which was flatly refused and told that the wasps were not her fault. I agree, it is not her fault, but at least make a goodwill gesture and take steps to eradicate the problem. They offered us a swat with our meal, which as mentioned before is and admission of having a serious problem. So to all out there with potential allergies to wasp stings, DO NOT GO THERE.

We visited here on July 9th and had a morning to forget after a metal fence (which hadn’t been installed properly) fell on our daughter and trapped her. The large fence had been put around the park to stop children using it. However the fence was only kept standing by two bits of rope tied to trees, which we were unaware of. There were also toys just a metre or so in front of the fence encouraging children to play. The fences were literally balancing on the grass (from a distance they looked like they were dug into the ground) with nothing securing them. Fortunately our daughter was okay. However, the manager didn’t once come out to see if we were okay or if we needed anything. Several people complained before us and when we finally went in, we got a very brief sorry and told that the contractor who installed the fences had been called. I even heard her shout to one of the staff to relay the information on for her if anyone else asked about the fences. I don’t blame or fault any of her staff, and I wouldn’t even have written this post if the manager had come out and checked to see if we were okay. That is all it took. She did, in the end, offer us some free food, but only after several discussions. This isn’t a complaint about the food which is very good, but the way this potentially very awful situation was handled is one they need to learn from so this doesn’t happen to anyone again.

Used to love this place and raved about it to many friends. However, noticed on my recent visit that they use wasp traps. I emailed them two weeks ago to ask whether the traps were lethal or the captives released humanely at regular intervals, but nobody responded. It's shameful as wasps and bees are vital to our ecology and shouldn't be destroyed for convenience. There may well be good reasons for using them but seeing as nobody bothered to respond to my enquiry, I can only assume the worst.

I have driven past this place many times and had always promised myself one of their full English breakfasts. It was around 930am on a Wednesday morning on a glorious sunny day when I went past the entrance and decided that today was the day I'd fulfil my self promise. Drove up the drive and turned into a reasonably sized grass covered car park. Parked up and made my way into the Farm shop and ordered a full English and a cuppa. Came to £10.90. Went outside as it was such a nice day and found an empty wooden table with bench seats available, sat down and enjoyed the sunshine and watched children playing on the fort and rocking platform whilst waiting for my breakfast. It wasn't long in coming. A nice full English two eggs, two rashes of bacon, a couple of hash browns, a couple of sausage patties, half a tomato, mushrooms and a couple of slices of toast and butter plus a cup of breakfast tea - should have taken a photo of it but was more focused on eating. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. As I ate a succession of cars appeared and the car park and tables filled with families, Many with young children. Seems I had timed my visit to perfection. I shall certainly be returning.

Unfortunately we had an appalling service, the owner (not that we new this at the time) , shouted at my 5year old child in the play area to stop playing with the gavel (pebbles) that made up the path around the kids play area. To which my child became upset, understandable so not knowing what they had been playing with was not allowed. This vile person that approached and shout at my young child without speaking with me directly or explaining the reason behind why!! Needs to rethink WHO they are marketing this cafe for. Children love stones if you don't want them to play with them remove them from the play area. Or put up signs (so that us mummies can explain to our children not to play with them before they get shouted at by complete strangers!).Another member of staff became aggressive and standoffish when we asked "why" and to "put up signs" I definitely would advise some customer service training to staff and to remove the stones from the play area.Do not recommend if you have children!! Staff treat them horridly. Would give 0stars if I could! Please next time speak to the parents first to ask there children to stop making little castles out of stones. My friend ordered vegetable soup that had been reheated in a microwave and had to be sent back as it was lukewarm. She left half of it as it was not pretty tastless. Her daughter had a large sausage roll with a few lettuce leaves splattered with cheap neat balsamic vinegar. The sausage roll had been reheated in the microwave - I'm glad I did not have it as the pastry had become soggy and the fat was oozing out. I had the Mediterranean platter which consisted of the blandest humus I had ever eaten, cold tasteless roasted vegetables, a big bunch of lettuce again with crude balsamic vinegar sprayed over and massive hunks of bread!! The olives were good however. I think the cafe should invest in a proper oven for reheating. Don't think I will be returning the cooks need to up their game and recipes.

Really enjoyed our visit here. Good selection of food, beautiful views, lovely decor and a climbing frame for the kids (which I didn’t get a photo of!). 4/5 just because you have to go outside for the toilets which were v chilly... but is a farm so fair enough I guess!

Visit this place regularly and it never fails to hit the spot. Superb breakfasts, wonderful home made savouries and cakes, and great atmosphere. The staff are always polite, cheery and friendly. Lovely warm log burner for the winter and delightful garden for the summer. This place cannot be faulted. Highly recommended.

Not often I visit here as out of the way from the usual jaunts. Fantastic setting on a mild and wet Sunday morning. The staff were cheery and helpful, again the sustenance delivered. The full English was delicious and the coffee spot on.

Hosted a family lunch here – we squeezed onto the table (just!). I had the brie and caramelized onion tart - which I really enjoyed. However I felt the choice of sides (noodles and roasted vegetables) detracted from the meal a bit as they didn’t suit the tart. The staff were lovely. Toys and space to play for the children. Would really recommend a visit, especially as the weather is getting warmer.

I'm so impressed with the vegetarian options at the Tanhouse Farm Shop. Every time I've visited there have been two veggie soups, four veggie salads, and at least two (usually three) hot options... that's besides sandwiches.I'm sure the meat options are great too, but I never take any notice of them of course! The food is very good quality and there's a choice of eating in the conservatory-style area or the cosier / quieter part where the shop and counter are. It's very kid friendly which actually isn't something that favours me, but I know what I'm in for when I go there! There is a large outdoor child play area for the kids to burn off their energy.

Once in a while you find somewhere that you know you'll return to again and again, this was one of those. Fantastic farm shop and cafe, a little off the beaten track but luckily for me it happens to be not far from home. I can think of no better place for breakfast in Surrey, it's as simple as that. Tanhouse Farm Shop has a lot going for it, a great rural location, a couple of friendly donkeys outside and fantastic local food prepared very well. The cafe itself is bright and airy and the staff very pleasant. If you have kids in tow, there's a great looking play area outside. The place is known to the cycling fraternity and there were quite a few cyclists taking a break when we visited. I opted for the full English breakfast, it arrived quickly, was perfectly cooked, and the coffee was excellent too. Unable to fault and can't wait to return.

My family and I are regular visitors to the Tanhouse and I cannot recommend it enough. They do delicious food, breakfasts, cakes etc. Located in a delightful countryside setting, with seating outside during the summer and a log burning stove inside during the winter. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Though far from the main roads, this quaint farm cafe is well worth a visit for a meal, or even just tea and a slice of excellent cake.Order your food in the shop and take a seat in their conservatory dinning room to await your food. Tanhouse offers a variety of other goods, from home produced products to jewellery and toys to buy. There is no free wifi, however BT Openzone is available. The toilets are nearby in buildings in the car park. There is a small children’s playground outside and well behaved dogs are allowed inside the restaurant. With efficient and friendly service, this cafe’s is a great place for breakfast, or lunch. It’s seats are comfortable and provided with cushions, (and blankets for a chilly day.)The food is excellent and this is an nice place to visit whilst out for the day.

Great place to go for Breakfast or lunch. Took the family there for a full english and the atmosphere was lovely, views overlooking the farm with a great place for the kids to play outside. We went during the week and had a choice of tables but gets busy on a sunday morning with passing cyclists on their way to Rusper. Well worth a visit if you prefer a quieter cafe with good range of food and good homemade grub.

Lovely breakfast with friends in the bright airy barn.In better weather the outside play area would be great for the grand kids to play on while we enjoy the open countryside and another coffee. Lunches looked lovely too.The shop is abit limited n pricey and the one downside was the heating or lack of it...the blow heater was turned off soon after we arrived ,so we left with cold feet !

A farm shop a little out of the way and very much on a working farm. But the food is worth spending a little time seeking this place out for a bite of lunch. Had a ham salad and Stilton and Broccoli soup both of which were high quality served in a comfortable conservatory. Orders are placed at the counter with a range of pies and pastries on view. They looked delicious and very high quality the temptation was to over indulge. We will keep this place in mind as a great place for lunch with friends.

The food was nice (once it came out), but the service was really slow. We had to wait more than an hour for a roast and fish and chips, and it wasn't that busy (about 4 other tables).

The worst experience having breakfast. Ordered a tea and came in takeaway cup sitting in.. with milk and teabag in together. Worst scrambled age I’ve ever seen they were like milk and upon asking the waitress why she replied the chef likes to use undercook them!! The salmon was covered in fat also which hadn’t been cut off when prepared! Awful experience would not recommend as had two bad experiences in this cafe with food.

The People the Grange support will serve you at your table gaining experience of dealing with customers and handling money. This is an excellent and weel worth suppoting. The tea is served in the Victoriam conservatory. The cost is £6.50 a head for a scone, jam and cream with unlimited tea of coffee. Most enjoyable. The only minor downside is the start time of 2 o'close which for us is far too early 3 o;clock for tea would suit us much better and this is the only point thatwill stop us returning

The King William IV is a very pretty pub, just off the A24 close to Mickleham. It was built in 1790 as an estate workers ale house for Cherkley Court, which now is Beaverbrook golf course. The building itself is quite unusual, being multi-level as it is built on the side of a steep hill. The garden is terraced and the stunning view up to Norbury Park, make it one of Surrey's most attractive beer gardens! They sell some excellent local beer in very good condition! I've not eaten there for a long time but from what I've seen going on with the food, it looks very good. Something I'm not a fan of, which puts me off going more often, is the mandatory table service. This is no reflection on the staff, who are swift and friendly but I'm a bit old fashioned and just don't like faff and people fussing over me. The pub doesn't have a lot of standing room, the bar itself is small and the staff get very busy with food service; so it makes perfect sense if it's a group or you're ordering food/getting repeat drinks orders during a meal, to be served at table. However, in my case, I'm just there for the beer, either solo or in a pair and would really prefer to just buy a pint or two at the bar at take a seat! Instead, you have to be seated and given a menu, then they return for your order, come back with the drink/s, turning into a forth visit with change, should you wish to pay with cash. Bit of a rigmarole for a pint! That's just my personal gripe but this is a lovely pub worth visiting!
