Tandoori Empire in Charnwood

We ordered quite a lot of food for a family dinner. Have been here before around 4 years ago. It was possibly the worst curry we have ever eaten. None of the dishes had any flavour in fact they all tasted the same extremely bland. The Rogan Josh was swimming in oil like nothing we have eaten before. Maybe it’s has changed hands in the time we were last there? Won’t be going back the food was well below par, meat tough over cooked and just flavourless.

Superb meal as always. Can’t Fualkner the service and quality of the food. Best Indian food by far.

I’ve ordered from most Indians restaurants over the 20 years I’ve been in Loughborough and they all seem to taste the same. When you order something HOT that doesn’t mean add chilli powder it means add chilli’s. Food wasn’t bad just not what I wanted.

Went straight in the bin. I'm not eating food that's been left on the counter for 10 or 15 mins. £36, not worth the grief. Certainly won't be using again.

Usually pay a visit when we’re in Quorn. The place isn’t licensed but no corkage fee so take a bottle or two. Has a very extensive menu with some of their own specials. Reasonably priced, can be very busy so book a table at peak times.

I typically don't write reviews, but after eating food from this particular restaurant, I felt compelled to do so. Not only did it ruin my weekend, but it also upset my stomach. I ordered chicken tikka masala, and it was served in a sweet pink gravy made of beetroot and sugar. It was absolutely disgusting and heinous. I sincerely regret ordering from this place and wasting my money.

Just wanted to share the worst dining experience of our lives this evening at Tandoori Empire in Quorn. They served my vegetarian friends a chicken dish and they did not give a damn. Granted, mistakes happen. We’re reasonable people and the waiter gave a heartfelt apology which we accepted. We just reiterated that is was a big mistake and they should check as if someone had an allergy etc it could have been worse although my friends were mortified and feeling ill at the thought of what they had eaten. The manager intervened at this point and was the most unprofessional person in hospitality ever. Basil Fawlty must’ve been his trainer. He didn’t like hearing the feedback and said what do you want us to do? We accepted nothing could be done but they should take care. He continued to argue with us saying they’ve been around for 40+ years and we should’ve checked. This annoyed us and we said sarcastically ‘oh so we’re clearly in the wrong then are we?’ This guy was beyond feedback. It got to the point where we objected to his tone, his demeanour and we just wanted to the bill so we can leave. They still wanted to charge us despite the catastrophic evening claiming we had eaten some of the food. We said we’ll pay, money isn’t the problem but the way they’re choosing to handling this is awful and we will be sharing our feedback. This is when the manager said ‘who do you think you are threatening me with bad reviews? I explained that based on how we was handling the situation by arguing with clients that would be our prerogative. Do you want to take this outside and settle this another way? Was his next question! I was flabbergasted he had uttered the words. At this point, I had never been threatened with violence by a restaurant when they had cocked up, didn’t like listening to the feedback which we tried to deliver professionally. Disappointing a local business chooses to behave this way. I wouldn’t usually post but it was too shocking not to share! Previously had good meals and takeaways there but never again after today! Clearly I’d recommend to avoid the place. They need bringing down a peg or two if this is how they think they can treat customers locally. Police incident number 760 - surely it’s not ok to threaten violence to clients giving you feedback when you’ve done something wrong.

Food didn’t come on time when said and delivery driver didn’t want to come and deliver to my home even when paid delivery extra asking us to pick up from other side of road not acceptable when paying extra for delivery as well as not being on time

I came here for an Indian with a few friends, the restaurant was a lovely size & looked good, staff very attentive and friendly. One of the best Indians I’ve had, bring your own alcohol too!

the chicken tandoori was over cooked and burnt, the chip portions are small defo jot value for money. Chicken tikka massalla had hardly any chicken in the dish.

Ok so I never ever leave reviews but I feel I must this time. We have used Tandoori Empire for takeaways and to sit down previously. We chose to eat here having carefully selected where we’d like to go and for various reasons. I prebooked and was happy to have confirmation and a friendly text and email. We got to Quorn early living only in the next village. We had a drink in a pub and went in to TE for the time we’d booked only to be told they were too busy to sit us down. No drink offered while we waited and no table or area to wait. We were asked to come back in 15 minutes. This resulted in us going to the nearest pub and paying £10 for more drinks. I had to send my husband back to check the table was ready which it was. Prompt service and all seemed ok bar the bad start. We absolutely loved all the food and were delighted with it. Then it went wrong. We had food left so we asked to take it home. At no stage did anyone explain what happens when you do this. We got the bill and the 3 poppadoms and chutney tray seemed extortionate and there was a further £1.50 added on to that part of the bill. I enquired and was told it was £2.50 for the chutneys. Because it still didn’t add up I asked if that was per person and he ignored me and walked away. My husband and I then had a disagreement about the extra £1.50. It was bugging me so I called another guy over again and asked what the £1.50 was for. He went off and asked the first guy who gave him a menu and told him to speak with me. He said it’s a charity donation which I’d have been happy with until he foolishly pointed at the typed part of the menu that said 25p donation. So I said that’s wrong then. Why £1.50? The first guy then came back over and said the £1.50 is for the foil container for the food we were taking home. That was it then and I couldn’t help myself. I said no one explained this, they’d lied to me anyway and I’d asked and asked to be met with these lies. Then I said hang on, you kept us waiting for the table, charged for a container then lied. He then blamed another diner for over running with her table which then impacted on us sitting down. Just a blame culture. We’d have been fine with the delay IF they’d been better hosts and thought outside the box. My husband and I had a huge argument as he doesn’t like confrontation and just agreed with the main guy which the main guy delighted in. He didn’t even take the £1.50 off so despite my husbands outcry to me I refused to leave a tip. We won’t be returning to this curry house unless they address what happened and the lies told. Why didn’t they say we will charge you £1.50 for the container so it was transparent? Why keep lying? If they’d like to offer some sort of goodwill gesture for us to return we will return as the food was amazing but bad business is bad business and you don’t blame other customers when all we expected was fairness. If it were my business I’d have done what other places do and offered free poppadoms for the wait. I certainly wouldn’t be so cheeky as to charge them £1.50 for a container given our delayed table. So these containers are literally pennies. Every time they charge £1.50 to an unknowing customer they make a fortune. These £1.50’s all add up. I’d have taken my own container if I’d known!!! Which they invariably probably wouldn’t allow. We saw friends later by chance who said they’d also been for a curry somewhere else and as their table was also delayed they were given free poppadoms. If TE want repeat business why behave like this? It’s such a shame because the food was amazing. We don’t use our very very local curry house because many years ago we ordered a takeaway and my husband went to collect it. He was 10p short as it was cash only. The owner made him go home to get the 10p again because he simply couldn’t think outside the box. He returned with 20p and with a smile, said keep the change 😂😂 We use a lot of curry houses and some are simply amazing. It all depends on how owners see their business model and how much they value their customers.

This is a friendly, modern restaurant with an extensive menu of Bangladeshi dishes. Soft drinks only are available but you can bring your own alcohol. It opens every day at 5pm so I went in early to enjoy a quiet evening meal. I had the usual starter of poppadoms and chutneys. The chilli one was tasty and hot. My main course was Chicken Garlic Chilli accompanied by Mushroom Riice and a Keema Naan. The portions were generous and the food was packed with flavour, as you might expect. Conveniently situated in Quorn village centre, it has to compete with a variety of other food outlets.

We had a table for seven booked but my impression was that they just wanted to get us in and out as quickly as possible. We tried to order poppadoms while we chose our main course but we're told we had to order everything together. I have never been told that before. The food was OK but we go to another Indian in Sileby and the food there is much tastier. A bit disappointed with the overall experience to be fair.

Food was good, service was pretty rude with snatching glasses, rushing etc and was overcharged by £6 which I didnt realise until getting home.

I ordered the tandoori wings and quarter tandoori chicken starter - very dissatisfied. Considering this is supposed to be a “tandoori empire” it was clear that the wings had no tandoori marinade nor were they cooked in a tandoor oven so I’m not sure what went wrong there! They were extremely greasy as well. The chicken starter was completely tasteless and what’s worse is it was dry! Really really disappointed.

Food was not good as king prawns were boiling hot so therefore shrunk and rubbery like octopus texture. Service abrupt no eye contact or polite conversation. Meal slammed down then grabbed up when we were done I have experienced this the last time I was there. I will not return.

First visit to Tandoori Empire. Was very impressed how busy it was for a Monday evening. The staff greeted us, were very attentive. The food was amazing, portions were good. Will definitely visit again.

This restaurant can get busy so for us, with friends, it was a case of putting in a takeaway order well in advance and going next door for a few drinks. On return our food was ready at the time requested, all items in place along with a complimentary dish. Food was good so we could not fault service or food.

Remember to buy some beer if you want it as this place is unlicensed, pretty standard curry house with the menu you would expect, all the usuals on there plus some Chef's specials etc. Food is good, solid curry fodder.

Party of 16….service good…pre ordered and all the different dishes were served quickly. Food tasty and enjoyable…portions generous. Staff attentive.

My food was really watery and bland, it seems to be the case for the last few times we've order

Food was fresh and nice and location is good, service was pretty rude they were constantly trying to pressure us into leaving as soon as we had finished. Plates were cleared and the waiter says "have you been told you need to leave, people are waiting for your table". We had been there a grand total of 1 hour 6 minutes....jeeeez.

Ordered a takeaway from here, was ready on time and was greeted in a friendly manner upon entry. However, when I reached home the food was a completely different story. Ordered the chilli paneer, there was 5 small pieces of paneer deep friend in batter and coated with Thai sweet chill sauce. Covered in oil and onions. As well as being extremely greasy, it was way too sweet and not what I expected from a very popular dish that I have tried in many other restaurants. The next dish was the mixed vegetable tawa, again overly sweet and covered in onions. Barely any vegetables in there other than a couple of potatoes. My wife had two bites of this and left the rest. I ordered a chicken tikka masala. The quality of the chicken was below standard and again, the dish seemed to be have been made with a bag of a sugar. I rang the restaurant soon after and was just met with a very defensive response, the gentleman I spoke to wasn't rude but essentially implied that it was my fault for ordering dishes that were meant to be sweet. I have never had a chilli paneer or a mixed vegetable tawa that was sweet, even a chicken tikka masala surely can't taste of a bag of sugar. I didn't get a chance to complain about the naan breads which were burnt black because I knew from the response I received, it wasn't really going to go anywhere. I have never known a restaurant where the customer complains and is essentially told that they are wrong because they ordered the wrong dishes. To top it all off, both my wife and myself experienced an upset stomach soon after. I definitely would not recommend this at all.

My king prawn sagg was perfect. But my friend asked for a recommendation that turn out to be ridiculously hot. Like too hot for me and that’s very unusual. Maybe a mistake? That’s the only time there’s been an issue so still 4 stars

Positives: Delivered before predicted. Free popadoms and onion bhajis. But….. was very disappointed with Balti dishes. Not much flavour and swimming in oil. Previous meals from here have been good but unfortunately this one didn’t live up to expectations.

Unfortunately wasn't a great meal. Hubby had lamb tikka rogan josh and he said the lamb was tough ,also it was very hot and spicy for a rogan josh. I had tikka masala and I would say I wasn't keen on this either. However there was a complementary veg dish hubby tried. We haven't orderd in quite a while from.this one but safe to say I.dont think we will.order anytime soon..

Good dependable Bangladeshi Restaurant, with a good menu selection which includes all the usual suspects you would expect on a Bangladeshi menu. Both takeaway and eat in options, with the restaurant being a snug fit in all the nooks and cranny’s which the old premises holds. There is a larger room at the back for parties and bigger groups and it runs a Bring Your Own policy on alcohol. The Chicken Mirchi Masala is a good choice and highly recommended

Disappointed by rudeness! So I organised a surprise get together for a friend and I travelled from out of town to Quorn as this was her local and invited several guests who also travelled. Upon arrival the restaurant had us down for the wrong number of guests. The restaurant was empty only one other table and they were not very accommodating. In fact they were outright rude. They finally established that they didn’t have any other bookings and could add another table for two onto our small 6 table and we tried to then move on. When the chap came over to take the order he was being really grumpy and disinterested when I mentioned we had a few birthday people with us tonight. It really doesn’t take much to be helpful and appreciative and we should have had better service. Yes the food all came out on time and the order was correct but some smiles please and thank you’d would have made the experience a lot better. I have visited this restaurant before and the staff were always lovely. Where have all the smiles gone? They’ll scare people away if they carry on with this attitude.

We visited as a table of seven. The only small downside was that the service seemed a tad slow, but otherwise it was excellent. Nice crisp poppadoms, really tasty sizzling starters and a really nicely cooked Lamb Tikka Tawa for me. Chappatis were warm, not soggy nor overly floury. No complaints on the food at all and it was all polished off with gusto. This is a bring your own alcohol restaurant but (not sure of the strict legality of this) you can buy a pint of glass of wine in the pub next door, then walk in with it. The staff even return the glasses to the pub for you! Really very good.

The food arrived lovely and hot on delivery. It came with some dipps. The takeaway was top quality and very tasty. The delivery driver was also very pleasant. I would highly recommend this company. I would definitely order again in the near future.

Absolutely delightful evening. Front of house staff were lovely and got us seated immediately. Service was quick and we got free complementary starters (i think it was similar to an onion bhaji but with potato). The poppadam’s were lovely as well as the sauces. I ordered Paneer and King prawns which was absolutely delicious, it came with pilau rice. I can’t remember what the rest of my family ordered but it all looked amaizng and smelt amazing. I had some plain naan bread and I think it was the best I have ever had. So light and fluffy but really delicious. I am very grateful for my delicious food and service.

We ordered 3 Chicken Tawa and jug of water. When it arrived (a runny yellow broth with pieces of chicken floating in it) it resembled baby sick in a Balti dish. (Where’s the skillet we thought). When I enquired if they had misheard our order we were assured they had not (yellow Tawa is a first for me). Well we weren’t disappointed as it tasted exactly as it looked - Disgusting. We complained and were told that it was the chef’s interpretation - Some interpretation!! The owner (a surly S.O.B.) gave us £10 off the bill which went nowhere in clensing our palates of the foulness. Your probably wondering what happened to the water. Well that turned up as we were leaving…. If you’re in the market for probably one of the worst Indian meals in Leicestershire then head for Tandoori Empire in Quorn - You’ll hate it! 🤮

Me and my fiancee live in Rothley but started trying new places and tandoori empire is now our new favorite. We both love the food

Food is incredible, out table was tucked in a corner which was a little squashed but the service was good, our table made it difficult to hear all of us, I wish we had asked to move tables.

Cheese and garlic naan didn't really taste of garlic.

Delivery was very quick. However, the past two times I have eaten at Tandoori Empire the chicken has been far too over cooked and almost impossible to cut.

We always order from the Tandoori Empire. In our opinion, it is the best in the local area. It is always fresh, bursting with flavour and delicious! Their staff are lovely whether you dine in or out and we have been loyal customers for as long as we can remember…and will continue to be!

For the money I paid I expected more and the danask was one of the worst I’ve had . It had no flavour will not be returning sorry and the coconut rice wasn’t very nice either.

This is a great place. It would further benefit to tone up the 'original' taste of India and Pakistani food. It would help it distinguish from the rest of the curry houses.

Tandori empire - Scam 🚫 Be careful when ordering from Tandoori Empire Indian Restaurant -Quorn , they do not deliver the entirety of the meal to scam you out of money, they then disconnect the phone line (called 124 times). Forcing you to drive to the restaurant, "oh the phone was not plugged in". Then refuse to accept any fault for missing items or phone not being plugged in. Then refusing to process a refund for the missing items or the delivery charge. Very unprofessional way of conducting business. Would advise anyone from ordering online from this restaurant

Chicken Makhani was not what I expected. It was not butter chicken and was very sweet and the wrong colour - coconut flavour. I’ve made better murgh makhani than this. Keema Naan was soggy and the meat grey. Prices have gone up 25%.

The food was not very hot and the naan cold and mainly burnt did not much tast to them.

Family birthday meal. Table of 6. We were sat in the back room next to a table for 24 which was not cleared for over 90mim, leaving us to look at leftover food, crockery and cutlery. We also had the pleasure of a table of 10+ whose language consisted of c*** and f*** for the majority of the time. The food was average and the service poor. When we politely bought this to the “managers” attention (in particular the poor service, the uncleared table etc.) he was more offended then we were and defensively blamed this on a lack of staff, despite this not being our problem. He asked what we wanted and when we replied nothing, he promptly left. Poor in general - avoid.

Both main dishes were cold when they arrived,I can’t understand why you would put small tubs of chutneys/onions with the order when there’s No popadoms.

Both dishes arrived cold. Rice was also cold and so was the naan bread. - disappointing.

Why has the price of pilau rice increased by 25% and tandoori butter chicken masala increased by 45%? That’s disgraceful!

Delicious as usual. Second time in a row though that I didn’t get my lime pickle.
