great place on time food was delicious and I only ordered once or twice and I have to say I'm gonna order again. and the chef can cook better than most from what I see and I get takeaways all the time being single 9 out of 10 brilliant place you guys have got a try it

We visited tonight having never been before but having 2 hours to kill while our daughters were at the Outdoor pursuits centre. We ordered from the £14.95 set menu. The value for money was fantastic, with popadoms, starter, main and a cream coffee for that price. The food and service was really good and we'd would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I thought the food would have been spicy, it was nice but I expected a bit more flavour

We’ve been to dine in at the Dining Room a couple of times and it’s always delicious, welcoming, & with speedy and friendly service. The food is always piping hot and great value. Would definitely recommend to anyone, A* - picture of my yummy shish kebab starter 😍

☆☆☆☆☆☆Best Indian food I ever had!!!☆☆☆☆☆ I have been to Dining room indian restaurant today for dine in with my family. My child , wife and I enjoyed an authentic Indian dishes especially Tandoori mixed grill and lamb Jalfrezi. I am truly amazed by the services and fantastic atmosphere in the restaurant. I would recommend to other at least try once , you won't be disappointed.

Ordered for collection taken away, was very quick and food was amazing, really fresh and great value for money. Very polite when I was collecting too. Will be ordering again, however we have tried to order a few times before but had no luck, the app is useless and never worked so we gave up and went elsewhere. Used the website this time and worked fine!

Food was early by 25 mins and was hot and delicious as always from this curry house! Will of course be ordering again!

Very polite waiter and young girl behind the counter was very helpful.starter fish was excellent.Both main courses were just to our liking.No after effects in morning after.When I go in next time I will ask for a more spicy one on the pickle tray.if one is available to go with the popperdoms.

Amazing food nice and hot 100 percent recommend

The food was bland i must say. I ordered a paneer tikka masala and got some sweet red coconut curry with paneer in it, ordered a tandoori chicken biriyani and even that was tasteless. After looking at the good reviews I realised its more catered for non Indian’s.

Had a takeaway ordered at 17.45 it turned up at 19.45 food was cold and the order of chicken tikka had hardly any chicken in it and the other dish we ordered murghi masala had no egg in it, and too much salt …. totally inedible.. We normally order from here, but this is the worst meal ever had…. Did ring up to let them know and complain about it and all they did was offer us a discount of our next order……. no way I’m ordering again.

We ordered a meal at 5.45 it did not arrive until 7.45. The murghi masala had no boiled egg and was full of salt, the tikka masala had very little chicken and the food was cold. We normally order from here but incredibly disappointed

Sheek kebab cold. Mushroom rice instead of Bhajee. Tarka Dhal watery. Rang and raised issue. Bhajee and Dhal delivered 40 minutes later with apologies. Chicken Tikka Massala just chicken and sauce so sweet it should of been a coconut pudding. Sorry sub standard and will not be recommending

Ordered a takeaway at 4.50pm online. The guy from the restaurant rang and asked what time would I like my delivery, I said 7pm , I rang at 7.20 he said be there in 20 minutes...no show I rang again at 7.50 he said the driver is on his way 10 -15 minutes..that's not on his way ?? What a joke..this is my first order and it will definitely be my last ..

After a two hour wait using the online site . We waited , and waited and waited , called and was cutted off four times . The delivery driver from the restaurant was going to be there in five minutes …….not . Food arrived eventually as we as as family exhausted by it all and ready to go to bed hungry . No apologies , the food was cold in fact disgusting and clearly rushed as in desperation of this cowboy operation that I would make this post . PLEASE AVOID THIS AWFUL OPERATION .

Whenever I'm craving indian food Dining Room is my go-to restaurant, Food is delightful and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Do try their Chicken tikka masala you will sure fall in love with it!! 😍

Awesome presentation and delicious food! I tried the chicken tikka starter and the railway lamb which was as delicious as it was presented too, fantastic food, fantastic staff and buzzing atmosphere!

OMG, this is not authentic Indian cuisine, never have I seen a brighter yellow korma sauce or red masala sauce which looked like it had come from a jar, I’ve eaten out at lots of curry houses in the city and this was the worst yet. The sauce was so sweet and no texture at all, like it had been blended and the chicken just mixed into it at the last minute. Curry is not meant to be this colour, overloaded with food colouring and aesthetically very off putting. I was so disappointed as it was my parents 85th Birthday and they didn’t enjoy it. The venue was uninviting and it was freezing in there, the place was empty and now I know why. Will definitely not be going back there

Absolutely terrible. Ordered a meal for delivery. The Chicken Tikka Biryani was bland and dry. The curry sauce???? Was flavourless and a load of frozen veg chucked in. The naan bread had definitely never seen any cheese, let alone garlic. For the price there are much better, and fresher restaurants in the local area.

Credit where credit is due.. a hidden gem .. excellent throughout from the service to the food. We had a 4 course meal for £14.95 each. We previously had a takeaway and really enjoyed that, so thought we would try it out. I’m adding a photo of our starter as we was amazed not only by how good it taste, but the presentation also. 10/10.

Tastes nice, was a little overcooked and watery but tasted lovely still. They did forget one of the naan breads though.

Excellent food at a very good price and very good service, hence highly recommended.

If you want to have a good curry and avoid the busy city centre then the Dining Room is a great choice if you are in the north of the city. The restaurant is not licenced but soft drinks are available; there are set up to deal with anyone bringing their own alcohol. There is a shop next door if you forget to take supplies from home. Polite friendly staff and reasonably priced top quality meals were enjoyed by all seven of us this evening. I look forward to going again and trying other dishes from their menu. Highly recommended.

The food came late and extremely cold. Had to re-heat it in the air fryer. The food was tasteless, no flavour and the Raitha was just plain yoghurt. Avoid at all costs!

One of the best curries we’ve had in a long time, hot and full of flavour, will certainly be back more regularly after that!

Two of the three dishes was very watery and cold and the nan was very thick and the onion bhajis was swimming in grease

Starters were bland (chicken bigs and samosas; latter was 3 small ones and crispy - prefer the more authentic large pastry ones) but mains and naan were delicious (lamb shatkora and lamb korma)

The order was an hour late and turned up cold. Having rang the restaurant to say it was cold I was shouted at. A nice gentlemen took over the call and told me to contact just eat for a refund.

I have enjoyed countless meals at dining room Indian restaurant with numerous people food and service always fantastic and excellent value for money ?

First of all was delivered very quickly considering it was a £42 order 20 minutes was a little worrying ...also items missing and considering this was a £42 order why would there not be some free poppadoms or dips .....this restaurant has gone awful and it is clearly new people ....I won't be using again I've had spicier gravy than dining rooms madras .overpriced and tastes awful !

My murghi masala didn’t have the egg and blew my head off jalfrezi had one slice of pepper naan bread cold don’t know what has happened to this restaurant but over the last year our meals have been either very salty or just not enjoyable gave it one last try and yet again disappointed won’t be trying again sorry

Set menu is great value for money and very tasty

Close to a one star. We had a delivery and it was luke warm on arrival despite us being only a mile down the road. The food quality was terrible. The prawns in the prawn curry were tiny and looked more like shrimp. The chicken was tiny chinks of what tasted like frozen processed chicken from the supermarket. The sauces were ok but bland. We also had the mixed grill which was at least ok but the flavours again not great. Portions were tiny across the board. I understand the food is inexpensive when ordered from the app. but the minimum criteria has it be that it beats what we could do at home and this was nowhere near that. We really were looking forward to trying this out since it’s our local so it’s disappointing to have to write a review like this. My advice would be to put your prices up a few £ per dish and focus on quality ingredients and flavours.

Very dissatisfied both Nan breads were cold and the chicken in both of the chicken dishes were awful felt rubbery and tasted like the chicken had been reheated no flavour what’s so ever extremely disappointed

Worst smallest portion ever, people are finding times hard, if you can’t produce the goods you might as well give up, small containers for a Indian restaurant? Never again £40 odd pound order for 2 adults 2 kids straight dish and rice yes £10 each wow But would be more full up on beans on toast

Fantastic meal for the four of us - plenty of tasty scrumptious food - will return although live in Nottingham Starters of onion bhaji chicken pekora and vegetable samosas all tasty and beautifully presented Mains of ling prawn biryani and chicken manchurian and tandoori chicken rogan Josh and Railway lamb great taste and plenty to eat. Highly recommended

This restaurant has some really good features, but also a few things to work on. The concept of curries with cocktails was an excellent idea. The cocktails tasted very nice and complimented the indian spices well. We tried 4 of them. We tried two of the specials. One had gold powder that unfortunately sunk and made it look muddy. It tasted fine, but looked iffy. The other had candy floss on the side and was delivered on a board. I hope they do away with the board as the poor woman serving us could barely get it on the table. The bar did seem to be sending out drinks quite slowly, which did impact us as we were told we only had our table for 90 minutes. We would have spent more if the bar were quicker! The food was for the most part excellent. The parts that were great were: Jeera chicken wings, samosa chaat, lamb fry, chilli garlic curry, mixed karai, naan, pilau rice All of these were extremely tasty. The mixed karai in particular was lovely. Some dishes left a little to be desired - specifically the ones for us wussy Brits We had one diner with us who struggles with any food containing chilli. She of course ordered the chicken korma. Unfortunately the korma, whilst delicious, did have some chilli so though others at the table enjoyed it, the mild option was unfortunately not at all mild. The chicken tikka masala was also disappointing. I asked for some chilli to be added, as I like heat with the tikka flavour. Unfortunately the tikka was very bland, other than the added chilli. I tried and enjoyed everyone else's curry instead. Generally the restaurant felt clean and well organised, though a little bit cramped. Even at 50% capacity the staff struggling to move around. It might benefit from some noise reduction panels on the ceiling and walls and it was very loud at times. The staff were very friendly. They might benefit from the opportunity to try some of the dishes though as they couldn't answer some of our questions. Key points: Food in general was very yummy. Good sized portions, served hot and in good time. Everything was priced well for what you get The more 'British' options (korma and ctm) need a bit of love. Non-foodies and kids might struggle. Cocktails yummy Cocktail presentation was hard on the staff Let the staff try the food! Noise sensitive or hard of hearing people will struggle I'd be interested to go back in a year to try this when they're more settled in

I'll begin by saying that when it's right the food is excellent. BUT Our last order came wrong.Chicken Tikka Madras ordered and a non spicy chicken curry arrived. Pickle tray ordered but didn't arrive either.Order was 50 minutes late and cold. I returned recently as I always give people chances to put things right (especially as the owner has always struck me as a real smashing guy) after an incident with a rude delivery driver last year. Another Curry was bought to us 45 minutes or so after but its just not good enough. There are many more excellent Indian takeaway restaurants around Leicester and from now on I will take our custom elsewhere along with our hard earned cash.

Four old workmates met here and had very enjoyable time food and service first class.starter chillie prawns and mixed platter,was excellent, main chicken balti, bindi bargee,mushroom rice, coriander garlic nan...all freshly cooked,and to finish pannier with more garlic coriander nan ..all very much enjoyed..nice background music..perfect night cheers !

A friend suggested the dining room and said it rivaled our usual place but we were not impressed, especially by the food and lack of atmosphere.. the room is small and having bare walls was very echoey and loud with people trying to out do the table next to them by raising there volume levels.. my daughters curry was nice but my jalfrezi, my wife's bhuna and my friends dopiaza all tasted like something out of a freezer food company's ready meal section and my jalfrezi was so hot my mouth burned for ages after we left the restaurant.. Then the bill arrived and we were charged a £10 per head fixed charge plus the price of the rice, poppadoms, dips and naan bread took the bill upto £60 and we took our own drinks.. we only pay £55 for the same meal with drinks included and the food is far far more authentic.. it goes without saying that we won't be going back..

When the dining room arrived in Birstall I was very impressed with the quality and service. Progressively over the years they have gone down hill. Tonight I would like to award them of the worst takeaway meal I have ever received. If you would love a nice Indian takeaway please steer clear of this restaurant awful at best.

Ordered a delivery from here. The food was very average at best considering the amount of good Indian food that’s available in Leicester. Chicken tikka madras was just a thick base sauce with lots of onions in it. The chicken starter I ordered also was full of lots and lots of onions and not really tasty. Leicester has many many good take away places so I’m afraid I won’t be going back here again.

Our family have Never really used the dining room but since opening back up in July we have been several times, both with friends and family. We have found that each and every time that the service has been second to none and that the food has been outstanding!!! We have three children at different ages and they have also enjoyed the cuisine and the fact that they offer the addition of chicken nuggets etc is an added bonus for when they don’t fancy a curry. On the request of a curry not being too spicy/ hot the curry came out at a perfect heat. So if you think there is nowhere to eat in Birstall this is the place for sure. Would definitely recommend to curry lovers and those who would like to try somewhere new, local or extremely friendly.

Although it has been closed because of the virus. They have opened just for delivery and take away. And the food is as good as ever. I normally eat in the comfortable atmosphere of the restaurant.. But I really enjoyed the takeaway.

Visited restaurant with friends....took a while to order. Ordered tandoori chicken tikka and piri piri chips 🔥!!! Chicken was beaut chips werent hot at all. Great you can take your own drink!! Lots of kisses people in one place!

Ordered through Uber Eats. Delivery time was fine but the food was the worst Indian I've ever had. I ordered 2 different chicken curries & you couldn't tell by look or taste the difference, mostly onion in a reddish/brown sauce & of course the chicken, decent amount of chicken but basically slung in a takeaway tub with no presentation or garnish whatsoever, thrown in the bin after a couple of mouthfuls of each, disgusting. I've made better at home from scratch. Good job it was a trial on Ubereats so didn't really cost much or I would have demanded a refund. Revolting will never order from there again.

Every time I go. I'm treated with the same friendly welcome. The food is still excellent and best of all, you can take you own bottle of wine. I hope to visit again very soon. K

We eat here fairly regularly and are never disappointed. Food always freshly prepared and very tasty. Lovely naan bread to accompany great curries.

Ordered take-away from here and everything was lovely!Really good value Set Meal, the tarka daal was one of the best we've had, Chicken Korma creamy and sweet just how I like it, and the poppadoms&pickles were fresh and tasty.I've only given 4 stars because they sent chips instead of a peshwari naan, but that definitely won't stop me ordering again!

Ok we live locally and stopped going here a few years ago as we had 2 bad meals on the trot. Gave then another go.... dont bother with the pickle tray as it was the worst we have ever had, runny gloop in bowls all very sweet Sweet yoghurty thing in 1, Runny mango in another about 1/3 rd full pot of something actually a little spicy in the 3rd and a pot of diced onion in the 4th. Mains well 1 of the house specials was actually very tasty, the other was .....not a curry, despite being billed as one it was tasteless gloop with a few bits of chicken, lamb and chick peas, Nan bread was excellent, rice dish OK . Sorry wont be rushing back.

We had a menu posted through our door and decided to take advantage of an offer on the menu. I would like to add that I have been in Leicester for 8 years and not been able to find a decent curry house until now. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the delivery was very fast.

Had a wonderful evening here. Taking your own alcohol certainly keeps the price down. The staff are very friendly and the curries were delicious. Recommend this place to anyone.

Hub and I tried it for a mid week nosh. Really nice. Popadums were fluffy and crisp which won me straight off. Good starters and a very nice mixed balti. The sooner you get your alcohol licence the better.

I took an Indian family with me to the dining room who are great friends and was a bit apprehensive about what they would make of the Indian food. They were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the menu. They were very busy at the time but staff were very friendly and helpful. thanks to Naz and Sham. And they will visit again.

I had not been to the restaurant for 6months.But was treat to a 3 course meal by my daughter in law. We were greeted at the door my the manager HAFI who still recognised us from our previous visits. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant was spotless. The food menu has been largely extended with a variety of Indian foods. The 3 courses that I had was so filling, I could not manage the 3rd.so I asked Had if I could take it home. He kindly packed it in containers. The prices are very good. I paid £23-90 for 2 3course meals. Well done Hafi ,I will be visiting again.

I like a curry. As a local Leicester lad its in my blood. And because of this me and a group of friends formed "The Curry Club". Roughly once a month we try a new restaurant and this months we sampled Dining Room in Birstall.
