A very enjoyable meal was had at The Spice Of India. The staff were very attentive and made us very welcome. The food was very fresh and tasty and the service was excelllent, we will definitely return, thank you.

Myself and my husband absolutely love this place and the food is outstanding and we love how well we get looked after here and the atmosphere is always good!! We have tried lots of other Indian restaurants which have been pretty good but the Spice Of India is our absolute favourite and we cannot get over how delicious the food is😍😍😍😍

I have been dining at this fabulous restaurant for years and have to say the service is excellent. The owners have become family and are always warm and welcoming. The staff are attentive and respectful. The food, service and atmosphere is 10/10. Wish I could give more. If you want great food and vibes, this is the place to be. Thank you to Heena, Atul and the team for accommodating to our needs and making us feel welcome every time we visit, you really do go above and beyond for us. It’s always a great experience and I appreciate everything you do for us.

Came here for my birthday meal. Food was outstanding and delicious, no complaints there. Service could have been a bit more professional in general. Atmosphere was nice with the classical Bollywood music however there was a group of vulgar lads sat just a few metres away from us, i felt these types of people that treat the restaurant like its their local pub should be allocated their own area, far away from where families sit. FOH lady was super kind and gave us complimentary shots as it was a special occasion, definitely the cherry on the cake.

Both nann breads were burnt, chicken tikka starter very dry, not a lot of chicken in the tikka or butter chicken. Really disappointing

This has been our go to Indian restaurant for 25 years? We go to others, but we have never been disappointed with the quality and service they provide

What an absolute pleasure it was eating here, we came to syston about 6 months earlier and the place was full so we didn't get a table. Soon as we sat down we were welcomed by our waiter who was hands down the best waiter I've come across,very attentive, knowledgeable, and gave very good recommendations. Food was on point, and for the first time in an India restaurant at the end of the meal we were presented with a dessert menu, my head was fully blown. I asked for an ice-cream in a pot to takeaway, how they packed it was beyond any expectations. They filled a foil bag with ice to keep it cold. Someone will be special enough to be given a gift card, yep you read that right, you can even buy gift cards for this place, how amazing! Will definitely be back soon!

First time takeaway order. Food was amazing. My daughter is dairy free- no problem - and her curry was just as good as the others. My wife is vegetarian and big choice with tasty food not over spiced as with many Indian veg options we have tried. Generous portions, good price, helpful staff and order ready on time. Now our go-to takeaway!

Everything was 5* star from start to finish. Firstly I would like to give hi five to Heena, who welcomed us with open arms coming from myself Hina❤️then Harry who was such a lovely gent who served us with a smile and so attentive. Visited on 23rd March as a foursome. Horrible rainy night out but lovely and relaxed in the spice. All four meals were plentiful and tasty, the service staff taking time out to explain the dairy free options for one of the party. Thank you spice team.

I attended an event last night which involved a buffet menu, and having dietary requirements, I had low expectations. However I couldn’t have been more wrong; Irrespective of it being an event with a buffet; they went all out to ensure I enjoyed my meal, going so far as to providing a version of dish in the buffet, without the gluten. The food was tasty and of a high quality…a far cry from your typical buffet food. The service was exceptional. I would highly recommend! Wouldn’t hesitate to go back and indeed planning on going back to try the a la carte as if the buffet is this good, I imagine that will be even more amazing!

Service was really bad, 3 hours in the restaurant to get served food. food quality has gone down hill, 2 dishes was stone cold and was still not removed off the bill until we had told them to remove of the bill twice. Would not recommend this restaurants yo any Indians n would definitely not go back!!!

I Was expecting great things from this place due to its reputation, but the food was pretty awful in my opinion, bland and tasteless. The service was perfect though, staff are lovely and the atmosphere was great as it was packed, perhaps we just caught chef on a bad night!

Had a great warm welcome There were 9 of us and we all loved our meals , starters amazing mains delicious , to full for dessert , great service and really good value for money , the staff were so friendly and helpful with menu choices Would definitely recommend and will be back when in Leicester next

Lovely welcoming staff, gave great recommendations on meals. The portions were very generous. We eat at a lot of Indian restaurants and this was the best meal we've ever had by far - in our 50's! The whole evening, atmosphere and taste experience couldn't be faulted - definitely 10/10 for this establishment- we travelled 2 hours to get there and we will definitely do it again 😀

We visited on a Monday evening and it was very quiet. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We went along with their recommendations when selecting from the menu and were so pleased we did! Can honestly say it's the best Indian meal we have ever had - and we've had many! The portion sizes were generous- the starter was half the size of a main meal. An excellent experience that was well worth the 2 hour drive to get to! We will be back 😀

This place is a true gem! Hina is the hostess with the mostess! Everytime we have been we have been greeted with such warmth, she really makes everyone feel so welcome! The other staff are equally attentive, polite, friendly and really on the ball.., it's a great atmosphere! The food is outstanding ... the mixed grill is my fave... but the curries are delicious too! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It's just consistently outstanding! Thankyou so much, I look forward to my next visit!

We had our work's belated Christmas do at this lovely restaurant and well what can I say I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The atmosphere, service and food was amazing. We will be definitely visiting again.

Seemed like the food was thrown together. Bland, lumpy curry. Naan was soggy and taste like it wasn’t freshly cooked. Onion bhaji undercooked, just a strong taste of raw onion. Expensive for the quality.

Booked a table for nye syston 1. cz of some emergency had to cancel the booking.informed one day before ..the lady heena who booked the table turned out to be rude instead of saying thank you she told me not to book if you are not sure it means if there's an emergency something like that still need to go and eatout there.wanted to try first time but turned out to be worst experience on phone.

I just ordered thru Uber eats!! Aaaw Wow it tasted so awesome, I can taste the spices, unlike some deliveries this one had really good flavours. Thank you chef. I would definitely order again veg and non veg

Drinks are very expensive but food is amazing

My golf club used Spice of India for an end of season event. More than 60 of us ate, starter and main, buffet style and the food was fantastic. Superb variety, very tasty, and excellent service.

Had a takeout this evening and my goodness has this place gone downhill Our last takeout wasn’t great but historically had always been pretty decent so tried again. Was strange we received our order within 40 minutes of ordering (perhaps less busy now the quality has been compromised?) as is usually easily over an hour. The rice tastes bland the chicken tikka masala sauce seems congealed and tasteless. Popadoms have shrunk in size and pickle tray pots half full and seem watered down - even my 9 year old son questioned the consistency of it! Won’t be returning after a solid 10 years using this place - shame

One of the best Indian restaurants in Leicester. The good is great but what really makes this place is the service, even the owners take so much pride in welcoming their customers, you don't really see that anywhere else. Prices are great and portions sizes are amazing. Highly recommend

We visit this restuarant reugularily at least 12 times a year. We also have had takeaways from here. We have also attended several special functions which they host on a Wednesday night. The foood is authentic, and suitably priced, but most of all they are very child friendly, and the staff atr attentive, even the young local students they employ.

Fabulous evening with 8 others. Food was great, staff friendly and attentive and a good buzz in a busy restaurant. Chilli Paneer is a spicy dish so be aware.....very very nice though

A few weeks ago we ordered from Uber, chased order they had no sign of it...last night we ordered over the phone..husband arrived back with bag..went to dish up..no rice..put in oven to keep warm whilst he went back..about 10 min walk..by the time he got back naam was dried out...stop taking orders if you are too busy and cannot fulfil them properly, a saturday evening treat totally ruined.

Place is good.. Was very busy.. Slightly dated thing which I found to be interesting.. Like food brought on trolly... But over all place was modern and food was okay more chilly than taste.. when it arrives.. Down side. Parking area very small and on street park is the limited. For the size of the place you would expect parking to be large.. Not the case.. Also all the waiters and waitresses where rushed off the feet.. way too many customers in proption to staff.. Also check your bill.. Things like poppadoms are not on menu and offered but not free.. So is the red chopped onions.. Ask so you don't have a surprise..overall good place but book ahead and get there early as you may encounter parking issues... Like I did..

Came across this place completely by accident, after the pub I was meeting family at, had to close their kitchen. The pub they recommended to us to visit, was not serving, and we happened upon this gem of an Indian restaurant, run by lovely welcoming...

Had some friends from overseas come to stay unexpectedly, so we had a takeaway . Food was really tasty, very reasonably priced and we even managed to pick up a lemon and lime for our cocktails. Lovely staff and a very nice experience all round.

Busy night we had a large group but the service was slow and poor. Small portions, and unable to split the bill, took long time to clean and the young mardy sour faced ginger lad needs a attitude adjustment or a new job. Overall disappointed. I rate lots of places and not happy with this place. I eat out at lots of places and curry taste the same. Butter chicken and tikka taste the same but shouldn't . Coke was flat. Defo won't be eating here again and will not recommend to anyone I no. And the reply is stupid aswell

Don't recommend as the curry's taste the same, i.e., butter chicken and tikka. Small portions and not alot of chicken it's all sauce. staff clearing the table were moody and when you try to have a little banter with one he just looked down at us. Coke is flat. just generally not a good experience so I won't be going back. In reply to your response, I had butter chicken, not chicken tikka. I never have a problem with the taste in other restaurants. As for saying we made him the butt of our jokes, We was having 1 laugh, which he looked at us in an unfriendly manner. We were part of a party and he definitely changed the mood. I don't need to try mild foods as I like spices and flavours. it's just your curries taste the same. It was a first visit and a last visit for me.

We booked Spice of India to cater for our private party at home and they did an amazing job! Booking was easy, we collected the warming dishes beforehand and they delivered it at the exact time we needed it. They patiently explained everything we needed...

Love this place, front of house is so friendly from the time you walk through the door! Lady on front desk so friendly polite, to follow the food is superb good choice and staff are on hand for any questions . Highly recommended plenty of high quality food and drinks. Defently be re visiting

We had 4 different choices and they all tasted the same . Meat was over cooked, prawns were like leather, butter chicken was a colour I’d never seen before - bright red and suffused with honey. It also took 2 hours for our meal to be served. On the whole a very disappointing experience. We and our friends will not be back. Not worth the expense.

The lady Matre 'D' is very knowledgeable about the food, helpful and friendly! She's worked here for years, knows everything about the food, so ask ! All the staff are polite and friendly. We had 4 Popadoms and the pickle tray with extra red onion mix as pre starter, Popadoms are fresh and crispy. Big size portions of the pickle tray! First time ever we've actually left some ! Then we ordered onion bhaji starter, with small bit of salad and lemon slice. These come as 2 per portion! slighter smaller than a tennis ball size ! Hence we shared starter. Then I had chicken Tikka masala ( the best I've ever tasted) and I've eaten Indian food all around the UK , Jay had Hariyali chicken, it's marinated in their in house green masala and cooked in a green spicy herb sauce, coriander is a key factor. You can ask for extra chilli or garlic in any dish. We had mushroom rice between us, and a portion of chapati. ( Comes as two pieces) I took a third of the rice and a good portion of my masala home! This place is well worth a try ! Garenteed you will come back ! I also had 3 double Brandies and lemonades, and Jay had 3 pints of kingfishers. Total bill came to £80. That's amazing for 3 courses and 3 drinks each ! ,👍👍👍👍👍 Sorry photos are in reverse order ! 🤣

Dropped in here for a takeaway order after a recommendation. Greeted by a lady who was polite helpful and friendly, and willing to guide me through the menu. Took their advice on my main and starter and could not be more pleased that I did. The Lamb Handi was rich, flavoursome and perfectly spiced. The chicken lollipops were a complete surprise, the sauce was so good I'm still trying to work out what the flavours were. 5 stars for both the food and the service, will definitely be sitting in next time. Excellent restaurant with a broad variety of dishes. Very family friendly, could not do enough for the 4 children in our party and very happy to pack up the left overs.

A small group of friends and I got together for a reunion, it was after leaving school 40 years ago. The owner, Atul, and his sister run this Indian restaurant, together with a very attentative, helpful, and professional team of chefs, waiters, and bar staff, to deliver a high standard of service throughout, the Spice of India have improved so much, since our last visit around 7 years ago. It was a busy night on Saturday, but yet they looked after us, to above our satisfaction. It was also great that they could make the dishes to our individual tastes as best as possible as I know they don't like to disappoint anyone, and they welcome requests from customers in making the food less or more spicy, and they aplied that to their Veg and non veg dishes too. I highly recommend the Spice of India, and I add that you won't be disappointed here. Parking is easy to find on the opposite side, and you can also enjoy going out to their beer garden, a function room for groups, and a service with a smile!

Quiet this Tuesday evening but made very welcome and enjoyed a very good meal.

Went for a 30th birthday with family. Staff very accommodating as some of us wanted starters and others their starters at same time as meal. Bit of a delay between both big tables of eight each but that's understandable. Plus we had 3 lil ones to accommodate. Who where looked after well on their own lil table. Choice of food was brilliant tried things I don't normally eat. Had plenty left over to take home too. All in all a good night.

Drinks are a little expensive, but food was really nice and they were really helpful for my diet needs, I don't do Indian food but was invites to a family gathering, the English food (chicken breasts) were cooked beautifully and wernt dry at all (normally a problem having English food in Indian restaurants)

We were a large family group and were looked after really well. Our food was hot when it came to the table and there was plenty of it. Will be returning.

I’ve been coming here for many years now, for the same reason, it’s decent food. However, the takeaway part of the restaurant is shocking. Tonight I waited for 1hr 45mins for my food (an hour of which was spent In The restaurant). This is typical of most times I’ve been to collect an order from here. Always told ‘well we are very busy’….. yes I can see that. So why would you tell me my order will be ready to collect in 45mins? I am an extremely patient customer but this place is such a joke, I’m not going back. I didn’t come here for a few years for the exact same reason and nothing has changed. I get the impression that management seem to think that it’s acceptable. Empty apologies and ‘2 minutes darling’ just do not work. Not even a complimentary popadom for the ridiculous delay (which was apparently because they cook chips when you arrive!) Back to Generous Raj for us, the wait here is just not worth it. Plus it’s more expensive than most places. 30 years of custom down the pan. I work too hard for my money to be spent here.

We had heard so much about Spice of India, lived in the area for almost 10 years and finally visited on New Years Eve. Wow, we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very friendly, the staff are very friendly and the food was simply amazing, we had a slight delay in getting our food but nothing that has put us off going back (which we will be doing). The prices are extremely reasonable given the current climate. Do yourselves a favour and book a table.
