We had been wanting to try Taj Indian Kitchen for a while and Valentines (Well close enough) was the perfect excuse. We were not to be disappointed. The surroundings are lovely and the tables spotlessly clean. Staff are very good and they have a lamp system which you can use to signal if you need something. The food itself was just superb, I had probably the best dansak I have had in a long time and Wifey had a dopiyaza. Both dishes were full of flavour and had just the right amount of heat. Onion bhaji and a spinach tempura for starters were lovely and light and again full of flavour. 100% we will be going back

Our experience started with a very warm welcome to a quiet restaurant, (Sunday Evening) We decided to go for the taster menu with wine flight This turned out to be a great choice and value for money. The food on offer is presented well, contains quality fresh ingredients and tastes wonderful We had no complaints and we will return. . .

Great restaurant, fine dining Indian food. The wine was of a good quality and the food was delicious. Although not cheap, it is worth the little extra you pay. Food was authentic, well cooked and beautifully presented. Definitely worth a visit.

I had wanted to visit Taj Indian Kitchen for a while and finally managed in on a quiet night in November. The deco is classy, classy enough for us to wear shirts and clean under-crackers for our visit. We were lucky and happened to be the only people in the restaurant when we ate. This was surprising, but to be fair it was just before the run up to Christmas madness and it was a weeknight. I understand that weekends are generally fully booked. The service was very good from the moment we walked in. Not just good because we were the only customers, but a level of good that comes from experienced and skilled front of house staff who take pride. Before the starter we had a taster complements of the kitchen. It was a small ball sat on top of a shot glass. You poured the contents of the glass INTO the ball then ate it. I’m not sure what it was, I have never had anything like it before, but it was good, a little different, it made us smile and was a great start to the meal. To start I had the Seaford Bisque. It was amazing, the kind of amazing that makes you still crave it randomly 4 weeks later. The flavours were great and the prawns especially just melted when I put them in my mouth. For the main I had the Peshwari Lamb shank. The lamb had been slow cooked to perfection, I’m not sure how they managed to carry it to my table without it falling off the bone on route, that baby just fell apart when I put my fork in it. The rice had a mix of veg in it, each item of veg was cooked perfectly. How do you manage to get a range of vegetables and the rice all cooked perfectly on an individual level in a mixed rice? Some sort of magic going on there. So to sum up, the service was 100% on point, the food was prepared by wizards and it’s it warrants a clean pair of pants. There are some familiar Indian curry names on the menu, but they are done differently and it’s a another league to your usual curry house. The downside of course it that your next curry from anywhere else will just be disappointing.

We visited this restaurant on their opening night and it was chaotic in the extreme, we decided to give it another go now it is established and are so pleased we did. The front of house guy was accommodating, polite and really helpful. The starters were excellent especially chicken tikka, their main course curries were faultless with rice and naan bread. The chef has their own touch on flavors. The restaurant is spotless and a nice touch is to touch the light on the table if you need any service as it turns from white to yellow. An excellent choice of wines albeit a touch expensive

First visit.....Prices are a bit on the expensive side for curry dishes.....That said, £15 for a chicken madras main, without rice or anything else, turned out to be one of the best madras dishes I've had......It's a shame they feel obliged to charge you £5 for a 330ml bottle of Kingfisher or Cobra beer, without offering pint options........Food was quality, I'd go there every other week, but not with those beer prices, and that's a shame.....No need to rinse people when you are serving quality food, already at premium prices!

Visited as a large group for a birthday and we were all really impressed with the food. It was really rich, flavoursome and not at all oily. The menu is very varied and offers something for all tastes and the restaurant is modern and stylish. The staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive despite every table being full in the restaurant. Definitely a new favourite!

A significant cut above anything else local so regular curry eaters will notice this immediately. It is expensive but perhaps not out of keeping with averages. The poppadoms were unlike any we have had, and a welcome contemporary refresh on the classic. Overall - exceptional food and very attentive service, and a very nice bathroom so we had a very nice evening here so we can’t really fault this place at all. Well done to the owners, we will be back again

Trying to find a decent Indian in Eastbourne, I checked through reviews and came upon The Taj Kitchen. They received good reviews, so we decided to give them a try. My wife and I were not disappointed. They deserve the rave reviews they get. The ambience was good, the food was excellent, really tasty. The only downside was the price of a small beer. At £5.00 per bottle, it's a bit steep. Then the price of the food was a little expensive, but you get what you pay for with excellent food. Beer, however, is beer. £5.00 to £6.00 for the larger bottles would have been fair. They would have got 5 star if the beer was at a reasonable price.

We love Indian food and have struggled to find a restaurant in Eastbourne that offers authentic flavours and textures. This one delivers in spades. The menu is not overwhelming and has a good mix of vegetarian and meat options, and mild and spicy flavours. We opted for the poppadums to start which were a real treat - light and not greasy, with a shared starter of chicken cooked three ways (delicious - moist and flavoursome). My husband had the jalfrezi and I had the dhansak - both hot (as in temperature), flavoursome, spicy and filling. The peshwari naan and paratha we had were non greasy and light. And as if the food was not worth recommending, the decor is modern and fun, the method of placing an order sensible and customer focused, and the service by the staff exemplary. We are going to go back.

Had seen this opened in February 2023 and had wanted to get here sooner but today was the first time we made it and very pleased we did. Quieter mid week. We usually end up ordering the same trusted dishes in an Indian restaurant but this time we both went for the reasonably priced tasting menu and one flight of wines. Every single element was fresh, very tasty, well presented, and we were full at the end. Will definitely be returning again and I think expanding our trusted dish comfort zone - this would be the place to do it.
