Tai-Sing Takeaway in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I was super poorly last week and fancied my favourite takeaway Chinese which is Tai Sing ! They were so sweet and put a note saying "Get Well Soon" and put me two Fortune Cookies in with my food. Always tastes so Yummy 😋 😋 😋 Thanks !

Staff were polite & very helpful. The food from this take away was the best we’ve had. Very tasty and good sized portions. We ordered food for a group of 8 people and by the time we’d finished there was nothing left. A sure sign of a good meal. Thank you Tai Sing!

Just visited this establishment for the first time, where I ordered a sweet and sour king prawn and fried rice. Everything was delicious and much better than the other Chinese takeaways I've tried in Newquay. The staff were also very friendly. Keep up the good work.

Lovely lady served me. Asked if I would like an extra meal for a £1 or money off. Was really quick from the time or order to when it was ready. Food was amazing.

Stay far away from this Chinese as possible it made the family really ill food was bland and tasteless and something was under cook would never eat the Chinese again

Beef chow mein, very bland no normal bean sprouts other standard ingredients, replaced with carrots, peppers. Spare ribs excellent lot of meat, crispy chicken very tasty, chicken curry sauce very thin. Chips was awful, dried out, Overall a fair price for what we had.

Takeaway itself is clean, service very quick and easy. Food was ok but not anything special, as previously suggested crispy beef wasn’t great and was in sweet and sour sauce. Rest of the food was very salty and portions not huge.

Tai Sing is a true gem. I have been using it for 50 years. They have the best special fried rice I have ever found. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Little tweaks like no onion or an extra dish for a £1 are always welcomed. Thanks Tai Sing for amazing sevice.

Tai Sing was a wonderful experience. Great value. The food was well cooked AND REALLY TASTY! chicken balls were scrumptious and the Singapore chow mein is to die for. The food was piping hot and very quick. All the staff in there are lovely and very patient and friendly while ordering, helpful too. 10/10 Will definitely return time and again. No bad tum in the morning. But we did reheat the leftovers and had a mini nosh up the next day!! Thank you Tai Sing. Very very happy

Can recommend but it won't blow your socks off. However, Ribs are fantastic. Chowmein is good. Chopsuey like chowmein with more veg and a bit sweeter. Chicken sweet sour balls good like any other Chinese. Chicken pineapple missing something, so add fried rice and sweet sour sauce to it. Beef cashew very saucy and it's black bean sauce I think - not brill. Beef is chewy too like any other Chinese. Uploaded photos for you. Spend £18 and get another meal for £1 but can't get ribs or king prawn I think. Max of 2 x £1 meals per order, so maybe make 2 separate orders. Left over chow mein, sweet sour balls, beef curry all great options. And don't forget to get extra prawn crackers for the next day.

Straightforward to order, very well organised service and the food was first class. The dishes were a decent size and the quality was great. If you want a Chinese takeaway this is the place. Thank you.

Terrible, jus spent £50 and the crispy chilli beef- was rock hard and they use the same sauce as the sweet and sour chicken. Noodles all dried out. Duck tastes like a jar of hoison sauce has been thrown on it. Chicken and sweetcorn soup tastes tinned. Jeez i just nearly broke my tooth on the beef! its like it was cooked 10 times and then left out for a year! Shocking!

Finally a decent Chinese in newquay, i have tried them all and this one came out ontop by far, ordered the special chow main which was lovely hot and the bbq ribs which were perfect and meaty all hot and allthough they were busy the food was cooked quickly and the cost 12.95 for the 2 meals I thought was very reasonable, honestly forget the rest this one is the best in newquay.

We’ve gone to this Chinese and given it so many chances but it’s been so disappointing throughout, food is tasteless and super dry which is such a shame was looking forward to it. Won’t be returning again.

Overall the food was really nice however GUTTED as requested the vegetable rice be made without egg which they said was absolutely fine but when delivered it had loads of egg in so we had to throw away two tubs of rice as we can’t eat eggs so wouldn’t order from here again. Shame because the rest of it was amazing.

Salt and pepper chips To be honest it didn’t smell great and was not much to look at. However the curry sauce was on point saved the day

I should of been suspicious when takeaway was empty and my order came in 5 minutes this was extremely poor quality we couldn’t even eat it , the yeung chow rice was stodgy and had big strips of cheap ham in it and chewy chunks of pork no flavour atall , the beef chow mein was the worst we have eaten tasteless with chewy poor quality beef the type you buy pre cooked from budget shops and the noodles were a tidy as had been over cooked or re heated , the crispy beef should be re named soggy beef from here it was tasteless chewy stodgy beef obviously not freshly fried , the coating had too much cornflour so was like stodgy cake instead of a thin batter , chips were undercooked and anemic and the curry sauce was oily and tasteless I always give an honest review and support local businesses however in this case I cannot it was tasteless poor quality and slapped together the prices do not reflect the low grade quality I would not recommend or use again worst Chinese we have ever purchased really disappointed

First time using. We were unsure as reviews weren't great, however we phoned and the lady who answered was so helpful taking our order and helped my daughter find a chicken dish with no nuts; even asking other colleagues for advice. Food was ready on time and was super. Definitely would recommend.

Really bad!! Chose to try this as went to The Orient before…..this is really one of the worst Chinese I’ve had in Newquay. So disappointed as was so looking forward to a Chinese. Beef curry was watery and the rice they use standard American Long Grain rice nothing like normal Chinese rice. Won’t honestly be using this place again. Honestly don’t bother literally try any other Chinese as got to be better than this!!

After trying all the newquay chinese takeaways we have found this to be the best one. Good value, very tasty and normally very quick (collection, not sure about deliverys) Crispy beef is probably the best I've had :)

My partner and I visited this takeaway, and tbh we were a little bit disappointed by the food. We ordered chicken fried rice, which was dry and flavourless. plain chow mein was again, bland and some chips. They were ok. The people who served and cooked were pleasant, and the food was cooked quickly. Didn't like the fact you can't see the food being cooked either as I could hear someone coughing. We won't be going back there for food anytime soon. But if things were to improve, I'd think about going back.

Fantastic Food! We couldn’t get through on the telephone so drove there to place an order. If you spend over a certain amount you can get an extra main dish for £1 👌 The food was very good and we’d highly recommend.

Great service and food delicious

For the dishes I like, crispy chilli beef, crispy chilli chicken, Singapore noodles I really enjoy them from hear, the exterior appearance put me off initially, but I’ve used them half a dozen times now and it has been consistently good, is a fair price as well, especially if you have a larger appetite or are ordering for 2 or more as they have a deal of .. spend over £18 get another main for just a £1 (obviously has t and c, but most normal dishes are included) give it go… hopefully the dishes you like are good there to!

Tried to call for over a hour and kept going straight to voicemail.

28-29 quid on 3 meals. King prawn curry with mushrooms. Chicken chow mein and a beef cha sui. 2 x egg fried rice, 8 spring rolls and some prawn crackers. Delivered miles away so thank you for that. Food was of awesome quality. Loved all of it. Great job. Would use again.

Our go to Chinese takeaway. Having tried the others in Newquay, Tai Sing comes out on top. Excellent food, good prices and the service is great. Sometimes hard to get through on the phone to place an order.

My local chinese takeout for many years, all good stuff!

Tues night when most Chinese restaurants in Newquay are closed, Easter hols and Champions League game on, I called and though obviously busy, we got great service and food They cooked me a dish that wasn’t on the menu, gave us an extra main for £1 and delivered within the hour. All good dishes and arrived hot, very happy. Will use again.

This used to be my usual venue for a Chinese, I have always enjoyed the meals, But, now that telephone ordering is preferred, the line is always busy and the wait can be quite lengthy . I always used to go into the shop to order but now this isn't an option (you have to stand outside) I've not bothered and will go elsewhere where you are welcomed inside. With all COVID restrictions virtually at an end and every shop getting back to normal it's about time Tai Sing reverted to their original system and actually allowed customers inside. By all means ask customers to wear a mask. Unfortunately I won't return until this is the case.

After arriving 20 minutes late the food was cold and tasteless. Couldn't be more disappointed, what a total waste of money I wouldn't give it to my dog.

The food was OK, its a pain that you have to ring it through because the phone is always engaged. The price and value for money is great though especially if you take up their offer of 'spend £15 and get a maibdish for £1'

I couldn't remember why i hadn't been here in a while then I got my food, whatever your doing with the chicken, stop it, it tastes false. Dunno if your boiling it then freezing it, it's just tastes so wrong

Ordered a takeaway on our last night in Newquay and we weren’t left disappointed! Wait time was about an hour and a half I think, but they were very busy and the delivery driver was very apologetic about it. Food was top notch. Couldn’t fault it at all, all came nice and hot and was very tasty. Recommended, definitely!

This is the second time ordered a delivery, service ok and delivery guy great! Unfortunately the food is a polar opposite. Both times now meat in sweet and sour balls was so overcooked couldn't chew it, chips are inedible and noodles cold. Sorry but had two chances and won't be giving another...

The food is reasonably priced, and they have friendly delivery drivers however the food is not as good as many of the other Chinese takeaways. Orient is one of the best in Newquay so would avoid Tai Sing as The Orient is two doors up.

Awful delivery service do not order asked to drop at front door and call and leave never did this instead called repeatedly and then had a go cus I didn’t answer the phone Then drove off with food when I asked for refund was told they will drop off later

I have ordered from this Chinese once before and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food when I collected it. I placed an order at 8 pm tonight after finishing work and was told there would be an hour wait ( no problem for me as I had time to sort things at home out ). The lady taking my phone call for the order of exceptional customer service and it’s complete asset to the business, not only did she stay positive when we tried numerous times to find my very new address, she built very good rapport and we had a great conversation whilst trying to locate my postcode and even when she struggled to hear me because of my broken phone she carried on and was extremely polite. We are looking forward to our meal this evening as we know it is going to be good quality. Would recommend this to anyone. The star rating I have gave is 5* for food ( and I’m fussy with Chinese food ), but I would give 6* if I could for the amazing customer service. Happy new year to you all.

Good selection and spend over £15 and you get to choose another dish for £1

Food was piping hot, cooked fresh. Delicious dishes. I was given the wrong fritter for desert I called them to ask for a replacement and I kid you not the replacement was outside my house less than 10 mins after I called them, again it was piping hot and delicious. Very impressed with how they resolved this issue. New favourite Chinese in Newquay!!

Just brought my takeaway home this evening and the bag was literally sopping wet, it was as if they had dowsed my whole order with water! Every chip was raw and hard, and yet sopping with grease and condensation? So disappointed!!

Used Tai Sing tonight after many recommendations and was not disappointed at all. Sweet and sour was crispy and full of flavour. Crispy Chilli beef was melt in the mouth and not at all chewy. Great sauce too. Staff were helpful and very friendly and the service was very quick and good fresh and hot. I will certainly pass on my praises.

I'll grant its not as nice as in the nineties but still the best most consistent take away in newquay.

I've never had a bad meal from here, and the staff are all always polite. My only complaint is that they are often very had to get hold of to place an order. If you trying calling anywhere near a conventional meal time, the phone is often engaged for ages, then occasionally it will ring, only to not be answered, and instantly goes back to being engaged the next time you ring.

We find the tai sing is the best Chinese in town! After moving to wadebridge we still go to the tai sing when we fancy a Chinese because no where else around is nearly as good. Definitely worth the drive. Chicken balls, spring rolls, special fried rice and crispy beef are always spot on and consistently good.

My last review was mediocre.. Not had a takeaway since then. Happy to say this is the tai sing i remember. The special fried rice is the best from any Chinese in town by far. Crispy beef spot on. Nice to see friendly staff. Keep it up

The worst food I have unpleasur to eat , please don’t try , I don't know but that place can manager how to do bad veggie spring rolls , and the rest of the food is the worst ever.

Had the special A menu. The fried rice was adequate, but all else was dry or oily, or swimming in watery mass produced sweet and sour sauce ....having had real Chinese in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia these dishes were typical of business presenting something without actually being trained in the cuisine.....too much emphasis on battered fried without any thought to taste.....polite staff, and price was ok, just a pity we could not eat it...never again. These people need some cookery lessons

We have been getting take aways, from there, for many years. unfortunately, it has not been as good for the last year. I don't know if the chef has changed but the sauces are watery and tasteless.

A great little Chinese Takeaway that is quick and delivers great food. Each dish has exceeded my expectations and I often have a banter with the great staff.

This is the best chinese I have ever had, throughout Cornwall and Devon. Have used Tai Sing for over 20 years now. Everything cooked to perfection and tastes delicious every time. You get big portion sizes and great value for money. So affordable. Staff are also lovely, happy, very polite. My favourite food in Newquay

30 Plus years I have loved eating from this Chinese .And we ate one of the best from there yesterday. Their sweet and sour sauce is perfect and I have never tasted one as nice from anywhere in the world.
