Eastern Paradise Indian Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Booked for a birthday dinner, pretty disappointed overall. First impressions of the restaurant is that it's very tired. All the chairs are visibly worn and very uncomfortable. The service whilst pleasant, was slow, it wasn't even busy. No alcohol available, not an issue, but we were not told at time of booking. Particularly wanted a King Prawn Madras, but no fish whatsoever on the menu 😕 Seemed like every dish we ordered looked the same, very sweet sauces. Didn't stay for any other drinks or dessert, won't be going again. Shame.

We've ordered a few times and it's always been right on time and absolutely delicious - lovely staff and very affordable too! Now our go-to curry

Ordered a take away this evening and it was fantastic. Delicious food and very reasonable price wise for four people. Nice and hot upon collection with really friendly helpful staff. Didn't rate atmosphere due to it being a take away. Highly recommend well done :)

Amazing food. Visited every year since opening for my birthday. Then during Covid only takeaways. So brilliant to find it open again. Standard of food still excellent as always.

Staff friendly enough and food was fine. We were the only ones there so gave the staff a bit of a shock when we arrived. Restaurant is unlicensed which doesn’t appear to be advertised you can bring your own but we weren’t aware of this. Food was fine - standard Indian fare perhaps could’ve been hotter. Ambience is lacking as the restaurant looks extremely tired - this may be because we were the only ones in there so was more noticeable.

Haven't been for a while went in last night waiter explained no licence, fine by me. Ordered our food Served on piping hot plates we were sharing a nan bread they had cut it into quarters for us, nice touch. Food was excellent I only managed to eat half the rest was put into a takeaway container for me We will be returning.

No atmosphere no service food is nasty most of all 40 years of visiting here worst experience over and treatment of staff was disgusting never return here again, owner's are definitely got racism issues with the local kids

Yes it was empty but we got there at 6pm on a Monday night, the food was awesome and had a great chat with owner about growing chillies. Only downside was not being able to buy beer.

We've been here many times over the years but not for a while. We were shown to a table by a very sullen waiter. I was surprised as before the staff have been very friendly. He was very jokey with another table of about ten people (I guess they were spending more money than us). He asked what we would like to drink and asked for a wine only to be told they didn't have a licence anymore. I was disappointed and after a few minutes decided to go next door to AJs to see if I could purchase a bottle from them. AJs sold me a bottle and also said that the staff from the Indian usually send customers to them to buy a bottle - so why could the waiter have not mentioned that? Anyway, back to the meal. I always have prawn dish but there were no mention of prawns on this menu (always had before). I picked a dish and asked the waiter if I could have it with prawns instead of chicken or lamb. I was told no, they have no prawns. OK, no wine and no prawns and no smile. By this time we are feeling a little deflated and wished we stayed at home. Not to be beaten, we ordered food. It came to the table, the portions were a good size and we enjoyed our meal. But, we won't be going back again now.

We went for a sit down meal tonight and after 45 minutes we still hadn’t had our order taken. So we left. It’s a birthday so we tried hard not to let it ruin our evening but we couldn’t get in anywhere else and now it’s nearly 10pm and we are eating a take away. It used to be so nice there. Gutted.

Honestly I was very pleasantly surprised, cheff/ host was great and the food was very very good, be brave, going next door to buy your drinks is more fun than you think.

Rubbish food with rubbish service the waiter name is nazmul. Silly rude man.

2 Hours and Still Waiting for Delivery! We live as the crows flys less than 100m away in Edinburgh Close. We had an awful takeaway a year ago, but thought we’d give them another go. Ordered online with a 30 minute delivery, we even called them to confirm the order. Time of order 1913hrs at time of writing its 2113hrs and still counting. Rang takeaway then arrived within 15 min. Food: my chicken tikka balti - actually was nice. Lesson learned, as won’t be back

We walked into a nearly empty restaurant, they had like 3 tables and was turned away because they were “too busy” very disappointing be be treated so poorly

Possibly the best I’ve ever had, nice quick easy ordering via the app. Friendly welcome on arriving to collect both times I’ve visited this week. Always been consistent when I visit over the last 5 years. Top job!

Just picked up two peshwari naan breads from here and they have the most peculiar taste it’s actually so disgusting that we had to discard them both after one bite.

Absolute joke, took over an hour to arrive when it’s only 2 mins drive down the road and then they forgot 3 of our rice orders ! Absolute joke

Picked up a takeaway for my family on Monday night 02/01/23 and we all said it was the best Indian food we’d had in a very long time. It was not only spicy but also very tasty. We will 100% recommend and we will be going back very soon, we try eating in the restaurant on Valentine’s Day 😊 Ordered: Onion Bhajis, poppadoms, mushroom rice, naans, chicken chilli balti, chicken phal and chicken madras. The price was also very reasonable.

Best Curry house in the St Austell area. Lovely friendly staff and the food is great. Highly recommended. You can bring your own alcohol, glasses are provided. Soft drinks are available. The lamb balti is the best I've tasted in Cornwall, it's well worth a visit. 😊

Me and my partner ordered from here after getting a leaflet through the door. We ordered at 21:00 and the website clearly states last ordered at 22:00 having waited for over an hour and 20 mins I decide to call for a quick update, the phone was answered by the kitchen porter who (rudely) told me they were close and there weren't any orderes and to call back tomorrow. We are now sat at home having paid for food we didn't get and now it's too late to order elsewhere. If you fancy a takeaway at home, order elsewhere because you won't get it here.

Not very good. Chicken Tikka Massala much too sweet and chcicken was just big cubes. Had equally bad veggie dish. They need to put time, love and care into the food.

On holiday for a few days, ordered a takeaway for collection online. Simple but very in-depth website which allows virtually any alteration to your dish you can think of. Collected on time. Food was really very good. Clean and tasty. Great portion size at very reasonable prices. £50 for 4 mains, 3 rice, poppadoms +2 naans + onion bhajis. You really cannot go wrong here. Highly recommended. Will definitely use again if we come back. Only praise. No complaints. Thanks very much👍👏

We first ate here a few years ago and decided to revisit whilst staying at the Carlyon Bay hotel which is very near. We were shocked to see only 5 tables set up and everything else stacked up.Faz greeted us with such enthusiasm and apologised for the décor.We were a bit worried when we sat down being the only diners but we need not have worried at all. We ordered poppadoms and chutneys which were great.We also ordered a chicken madras with boiled rice made spicier for me and a chicken Jalfrezi again made spicier for my husband with pilau rice and a garlic naan to share. Everything arrived hot and we were impressed by the flavour and the size of the chicken pieces(our local indian restaurant serves large chicken breast chunks but this restaurant outdid them.)We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and Faz's attentive service despite the wonky chairs and lack of other diners. The restaurant owners need to get a drinks licence and throw out the old furniture which is frankly falling apart.It looks completely unloved.Faz was an absolute star and the chefs delivered royally.Everything including soft drinks came to £34. We would return for the food because it was so good but the restaurant décor needs an overhaul!!

Waited over an hour later than the expected delivery time, they phoned and told us it would be 15 minutes late which was fine but then we just waited until it was an hour late and I phoned them I was told it would be just 5minutes. When it arrived it was cold and the rice was congealed. Won’t be ordering again!

Both myself and my wife enjoyed a lovely curry from here last evening, great naan and poppadoms too. Thank you.

Due to Covid this is only offering takeaway. Delivery or collection. Good service and delicious food . No fish dishes available at present.

Way to watery!!!! Couldnt even taste the madras properly the wateryness just drowned out the taste!!! Couldnt taste any spice either, the nan was practically just Dough (I would put 0 stars if I could !!!!)

Saturday night in peak season so a little bit of a wait which was fine. Service at the counter was really polite and professional (didn't catch her name but black hair and braces). She did a really good job staying calm and composed with a teasy emmet who wanted food immediately. Food was lovely as always and can't complain about the price either. Will be back.

Ordered over the phone, 3 hours wait the turned up with the wrong food, ordered 4x chicken tikka masala and popedoms , he turns up with prawn crackers and beef chowmain , dosser

Placed an order to be delivered , arrived 3 hours later after several phone calls , when the food finally came it was 11pm at night the children had fallen asleep , the food it’s self was warm like it had just been kept heated for ages , after making a complaint with management who was extremely rude and very unhelpful, complete waste of money and would not order from them again,

We had a take away for eight of us it took an hour but it was well worth waiting for the gentleman was called A J he was so helpful he put extras in and the curry's were lovely

Ordered a takeaway tonight and was served by AJ. He was so kind and helpful. When I arrived he was friendly and the service was perfect. The chef cooks the best food and I would highly recommend.

Had take out to take back to our caravan. Excellent friendly chap called AJ entertained me while I waited a very short time for them to prepare food. Food was excellent, best Pathia I've ever had. Highly recommended:o)

Ordered a takeaway and was hugely disappointed, the Onion Bhajis were so big they were really dark on the outside yet raw in the middle, the chilli masala was started as a semi dry dish but came swimming in sauce and as for the salad it inedible as it was brown and smelling.

We live locally and we have used this Indian for a number of years. Always get a good meal, have tried a few on the menu and not had a bad one yet. Would highly recommend.

Was really looking forward to having a takeaway from here as the last time we ate in the food was delicious. However, we ordered online, and was told it would arrive around quarter to 6. By half 6 we had nothing. Phoned and got told it was on the way. 20 minutes later still nothing. Phoned again and after alot of confusion we get told theyll phone the driver again. Finally get our food over an hour late. There was no apology either on the ohone or from the driver. We still get charged a delivery fee. It was nearly £40 for our food (2 curries, 2 rice, 2 naan and some pappadums) and delivery. Absolutely outrageous. Terrible service. Insane prices and while some bits were nice the food wasnt amazing either. Not ordering here again

We phoned to make an order at 6.15 on a quiet Wednesday eve,was told the order would be with me at 7.00,it finally arrived 9.00 with numerous phone calls each time them saying it would be with me in 15 minutes.Horrendous service and wont be using them again!

booked a table and weren't welcomed in, waited about 15mins before we were attended to for orders . When ours starters and main dishes were served they were only warm and barely eatable . We live local and won't be going again as it's crap compared to other indian resturants . Also staff not wearing face masks.

Came here with the family for my daughters 30th birthday and so glad she chose here, every dish that we had (and we had a few) was excellent, the service was great and we were made to feel very welcome, we would definitely recommend a visit

Been going here for years, not been this year but went last night. The food was as good as always, the service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and updated. All combined to make a very enjoyable night out. Like many restaurants in these troubled times it is a struggle to survive, and it seems from the negative reviews that there have been problems with the delivery side of things, but dont let this put you off; it's still a good place to eat out and I am sure they have overcome the glitches they have experienced with delivery...certainly when i was there I saw people coming to pick up takeaways and not having to wait. They do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own, which to me is a plus...or you can go next door to the bar to buy it.

We regularly use this Indian but from now on we will not be!! Ordered our food delivery at 5.20 and 8.30 it turned up! Called many times only to be hung up upon and when getting through was told it was on its way.., it was an hour later!! In that time I had gone out and got another take away and sent our original dinner back. Very disappointing.

We ordered on Friday evening at 6:50 online, it said it would be 50 minutes until it would be delivered. A few moments later they called to confirm our order and advised it would be with us in 1 hour 10 mins which is fine. After an hour and 10 had passed there was no sign so we gave it 15 mins and then called them, no answer at all. We then called for the next half an hour with none of our calls being answered at all. By this time, it's 9pm and still no sign of our delivery or getting through over the phone. We end up driving down, they said their oven had broken, we ask why they didn't answer our calls or call us to make us aware, they said that their phones had broken... He apologised and said it was just being bagged up. We asked if we could have a discount seen as its been over two hours and we've had to drive down, he couldn't do that. He said they were too busy to call us and that its all because of the oven so can't give us money off. We finally drove away at 9.10 with our food and a free bottle of coke along with an extra salad and naan bread for our troubles, if we wanted extra naan we would have ordered it, 10% off would have been more suitable. First time we've tried them and won't be back which is a shame because the food was tasty (although only just warm).

This was the last night of our holiday and we really enjoyed our visit here. The food was really food and the two guys serving us were friendly and welcoming. Thanks and would definitely go back if ever in the area again 👍

Probably one of the least enjoyable takeaway's I've ever had. Portion size was embarrassing, food itself was greasy, counter assistant was rather ignorant and unfriendly !

I have lived in the area for over a decade & thought let’s give this place a try, for take out. Arranged to collect it ourselves. There was confusion over the order, rang back later (once we realised something was missing) to confirm what we had ordered & paid for. The onion bajis unfortunately were totally inedible & there was no suggestion of replacement or refund. Will not be returning.

We ordered a take away online at 7pm, had a call at 7.10 confirming they had received our orders, had an email confirming toil son was hopeful the 30-40 minutes was correct time frame!!! It clearly wasn’t I am still waiting at 9.30pm having called them an hour ago and was told they left 5 minutes ago, and again 10- minutes ago to be told they’ll be here in 5 minutes .....I remain waiting.... eating at 10pm is not what we want when we are very local and live here and have to get up for work, wish I hadn’t bothered.

Probably the worst curry I've had in a long time

We were a little apprehensive about some of the reviews which were less than flattering, but the food was good, all cooked to order, there was beer from the shop next door, meals were timely and the service friendly. My only comment is that they should be running the COVID 50% discount Govt scheme, but i guess that is a time limited issue.We were happy, I hope you are too!

We placed the order just before 6pm online and was advised delivery to be 6:50 which was fine and we also expected it to be possibly longer than this but it was not delivered until 8:20, We called 4 times to see when we would recieve the delivery each time being told it was just leaving and we live only just 5 -10minutes away. The meal was enjoyable but the delay ruined our plans for the evening. Luckily we were given a discount because of the delay but in the end I would have preferred to have had the order arround the time advised. I understand they were busy but maybe if they kept us upto date with a call to advise that there was a delay, after all they had our contact details... I went to have a meal at here and it had Very bad food an slow service it toolk over an hour for me to get my food even tho they was quiet. I could hear a girl out the back of the restaurant swaring and shouting an saying racist stuff. W would not recimend anyone to go here.

Fantastic meal tonight for our daughters 7th birthday, she chose where she wanted to go and chose Eastern paradise, staff was over accommodating which was brilliant our daughter throughly enjoyed every minute of it she was treated like a princess,lovely food brilliant staff, definitely recommend going there for a meal, thankyou very much.👌🍴🎊❤️

This used to be a nice place, but it's very run down. Cheap, drab decor, oppressive lighting, hardly anything aithentically Asian about the cheap decor. The seats have all collapsed and the restaurant has lost it's alcohol licence, while the vinegary wine was overpriced anyway.

Food is OK at this place, service is a appalling. Visited as a family of 6 half the menu wasn't available. Ordered take away on line for collection, systems were down so when I arrived to collect had no record of my order, had to wait 45 minutes for a korma and some rice. No real apology. Food is OK when it comes, lots of sauce not much meat.

We went here with friends a month or so ago and it has taken me this long to think of something positive to say about it. So here goes. The beer is well chilled. The service is friendly. That is it! There were 4 of us in the party, all of us have a lot of experience with Indian/ Pakistani, Bangladeshi food, all of us have spent time in India. But the food we were served here was more like precooked (Chicken Tikka) ) meats, seved in a spiced sauce made up of lighty cooked tomatoes and onions. It tasted like the Tomatoes and onions had been blitzed in a blender, had a couple of spices added lightly cooked and then poured over precooked meat. basically all the dishes we had were based on a poor version of chicken tikka masalla and not anything like authentic indian cuisine. All of us in the party were of the same opinion. Don't get me too wrong here, if you like chicken tikka masalla then go here, it is edible, you won't be disappointed. But if you want Authentic Indian cuisine give it a miss.

Super busy place, seems to be held together by a core of staff.Service was at our pace, we like to peruse for a long while. This may not be the case for some who want to eat and run.There was a few large parties and a family with tiny noisy kids, (not the best in my opinion).Standard pickle tray was fresh, poppadoms were warm and fresh too.Vegetarian curry selection was brilliant. There are the standard BIR dishes and loads I mean loads of chefs specials which is encouraging, however I had CTM as a standard, it wasn't the best tbh. Rice was OK, naan was not upto scratch.Ber is bottled, wine selection by glass is non discript, big wine list.You can bring your own, no corkage.

Eastern paradise was a pleasant surprise, we went with friends had a lovely warm welcome and quickly shown to our table. The restaurant was very busy, the service was prompt. The food was lovely, a wide selection for meat eaters and vegetarian. I would definitely go back and will recommend this Indian to others.

Good Atmos, was quiet in and snowing out. (Ymmv). Respectful staff.

We've been here a couple years ago to sit in and it was lovely! But going back recently for a takeaway we found they were very stingy on the meat in all our curries, hardly had any considering you pay more for anything that's different to chicken. The curries themselves did taste nice just had nothing in them! One down point also was how the staff were openly talking to the customers about how bad it is working there and how the food "isn't that great", was a bit off putting to be honest!

We found this place as we were staying nearby & the weather was appalling. Very tasty food at sensible prices with excellent service, so good we went back the following night!!!

We booked last minute tonight. We were greeted on arrival. Staff very politeFood was fantastic, the four of us all had different dishes so we could share.We had popadoms, starters, mains, rices, naan breads, 2 drinks each and finished with liqueur coffees. The whole bill was £94. Great value for money and will definitely go back

Shockingly bad service and attitude Been here before and was great, came here this year and was told no children under 3 are allowed inside as they dont want them. Poor attitude and from the empty restaurant I'm guessing poor food too. Avoid at all costs

We have always had delicious, freshly made food from here and the service is excellent Friendly, clean and efficient. But the restaurant itself is gloomy and oppressive. The chairs have all caved in and are in need of replacement. Very uncomfortable to sit on and you are too low at the table. The lighting is terrible. Dank, dark, dingy. It makes people not want to stay for long. It really does need updating.

Lovely meal with a great ambience. There was a wide variety of food options and the staff were very pleasant.
