Went for a Sunday roast here yesterday, surprised to see no other diners present when this place used to be packed on a Sunday. It soon become evident as to why. Bar staff lovely and friendly as was the young lady taking our order. We all ordered a roast, very very disappointed, one of our friends couldn’t eat hers she did try bless her. It seemed like the meal had been microwaved as the food was hot in some places and cold in others, the yorkie looked sodden so definitely microwaved. I did eat mine as I was hungry. I did leave the beef as it was tough, the pork tasted weird like it had been cooked, sliced, frozen and reheated as it tasted tangy. The potatoes were ok as were the carrots, the swede, cabbage and meat was cold. We did order pudding of apple crumble only to be disappointed again. A young lady came down and said they had no crumble but would we like flapjacks instead. I’m so sorry as this pub used to be very busy on a Sunday but alas no longer. Won’t be going again needless to say. But the staff were friendly and hard working.

We booked for Sunday roast at 1pm. Don’t need to join as so quiet and now we know why! The medium roast wasn’t any bigger than small. The meat (we both had beef) was nice as was the roast potatoes but veg was tasteless and not a lot of it. Won’t be bad

I've eaten there twice and won't be bothering anymore. There is no food on a Sunday, just karaoke. Youngsters drinking big pitchers of cocktails and getting out of control. Found the younger bar staff to be rude. The coffee is either Nescafé out of the jar or filter things on top of your cup and by the time it's passed through the coffee is cold. Had peas, corn and a plastic bottle cap under the table that had to be taken away from the dog accompanying us, watch your toddler as it could end up in there mouth. There is a pool table but so close to the wall you can't play a decent game. Overall the place is just a bit meh....

Decor OK barmaid pleasant.the conservatory very nice .We were in with a party of 10 seniors.I ordered the beef madras, but asked for a smaller portion, the waitress said she thought it would be possible .When I received my meal it had been poorly presented and nearly ran off the plate, this came with no popadoms nor mango chutney,I thought because it was a smaller portion these had been excluded.,but when I came to pay I was charged the full price of £14.95 . 2 friends had the pie which wasn’t a pie but contents in a dish with a puff pastry top plonked on.Why pubs don’ do smaller meals for seniors I do not know! The beer was well kept though.

Very disappointing - bar staff did not welcome us, made us feel unwanted - no smile. Mistakes were made with our order. The food was very poorly presented. Right through we felt as if we were a nuisance. Bar staff appeared to spent their time flirting with male customers. Such a shame as we used to enjoy our lunches at the Swingletree before the revamp and apparent lack of management. We love the revamp but missed the previous staff.

We decided to try the swingletree Inn for are Sunday roast and unfortunately we're very disappointed alough we did not complain about the food but thought after that we should of , the whole lot tasted like it had been in the microwave , along with this the staff were moaning about each other and one of them were very unprofessional bringing us the food almost making us feel a nuisance. I would not recommend this pub for food but looks good for a drink if you are in the area.

This was out second visit here. The first visit wasn't great... our drinks were served in soapy glasses at least twice after letting the staff know the first time. We also ordered cheesy chips but they came with Luke warm chips with grated cheese on top.On our second visit we thought we would give it another chance. Again we ordered food this time we ordered the southern fried chicken burger along with a second hot southern fried chicken burger and cheesy chips and asked for the cheese to be grated.Out came the food and we received one burger just the southern fried chicken burger with chips. We then asked for our second burger, the hot chicken one and chips with melted cheese on.When the staff brought it out for us we received an Angus burger with chips and no melted cheese. There wasn't hardly any people in the premises so no reason as to get out order wrong. When we tried to explain this to the staff and furthermore the landlord they were very unhelpful and offered us no return.Highly unrecomended and will not be visiting again.

Well done Jaz and Sophie! These two girls are a credit to you. The meals are basic pub grub, but don’t let that fool you! It was delicious. House hunting is exhausting at the best of times, but long distance is less fun. Looking for a cup of coffee and a bite, saw the pub and drove into the car park. Not sure where the entrance was we headed for a door. Found ourselves in the bar. A few people not many, propping up the bar. Asked if they did coffee, ordered two black, and whilst he was multi tasking we had a look at the menu, ordered a couple of baguettes. Seated ourselves in a corner with our coffee, and the food arrived shortly. Tasted good and filled a hole. Overall a friendly relaxed atmosphere and a good place for a snack, did see bigger meals served, but you will have to ask them for comments.

For my uncles we came up on a Friday evening, from the moment we walked in two men at the bar (one claiming to be the landlord was pointing at me and saying rather disrespectful things to his friend. Then when playing pool a drink was placed on the pool table, this man claiming to be the landlord said ‘get that off that table now’ my brother removed the drink yet this man decided to carry it on and on, I politely asked the man to stop shouting and his response was ‘don’t get assy with me dear I’m the landlord’ ( I know the name of this man but out of respect even though he had 0 respect I won’t be writing it on here )I’m sorry but if you’re supposedly the landlord treat your customers with more respect! Yes he shouldn’t have put his drink on the table, it was soon removed and you have now lost two new customers.Absolutely disgusting

We had lunch in the Swingletree Inn, which was huge, very reasonably priced, and tasty. The pub looks like it has just been painted and is very pleasantly decorated. My one and only gripe would be the loud mouthed local who sat at the bar, swearing and blinding, using the most foul language, which wasn't at all suitable when there were women and children around. Shame, as it stopped us from going there again.

We found the staff very welcoming and friendly, there was a good choice of pub grub, including a kids menu, the food was really lovely, portion sizes were more than sufficient. Visited on the off chance, chose the roast. The food came out quickly and the staff were friendly, however one does get what one pays for. The meals were incredibly cheap and this did reflect on the quality I’m afraid. The portions were good but the veg was somewhat over cooked. This was a shame however we may well go back and sample something else from the menu. Noticed the establishment supports charities which always goes down well in our book.

Don't go to the Swingletree for a gastronomic experience in posh surroundings. Go there for good honest well cooked food at a really good price, the best bar staff in Cornwall, and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. With a Friday night fish and chip meal plus a wine or a pint at £10 per head, and midweek offers to boot, what's not to like specially since the Swingletree has been recently refurbed. Go there and enjoy.

Spent a few hours trying to find a place mid afternoon to eat after visiting Morwellham Quay. Finally pulled up to the Swingletree Inn after seeing on the side that it was family friendly and served food all day. We ordered two fish & chips and a chicken sandwich. The meals were disgusting. The chicken sandwich had some kind of cat or dog hairs on the bun and the fish was abhorrent. The chips were hot but flavorless. We were so starved that we made do and ate a bit of what we could. Eventually ended up telling the barman (who was great by the way, really nice and customer service oriented/happy to help) that the food was unacceptable. He said he would get the landlady. When she showed up (looking grubby and unkempt) we physically showed her how disgusting the fish was. She said she didn’t see anything wrong. We then proceeded to show her the fish looks raw and/or just not right not to mention the beer batter was fried in grease too hot, over cooking the batter. She got defensive, said she had been cooking for 15 years and that is how beer batter looks. What a load of garbage, that definitely was not what it should look like, it was barely eatable. We were refunded for the meal (but paid for the drinks) but the attitude that woman copped was unbecoming of a person of authority in an establishment that serves the public.

I booked a table for 10 over the phone with a very cheerie lady. I'd not been previously so had expected to pay a deposit but not so.Our party started arriving 15 minutes early and stragglers 15 late but that wasn't a problem for the host's at this pub. Ordered our drinks as guests arrived and opened a tab at the same time. And then perused the menu. Typical pub food but not typical pub prices, everything was a pound or more LESS than would be expected. Also typical was trying to get everyone's order sorted! You know what it's like when friends haven't met up for a while chatter is the main thing. Eventually all was resolved and to the bar to order. Surprise, everything was available that was ordered, not always so after a big holiday. Food was delivered quite quickly, and everyone enjoyed it. Next round of drinks (mainly soft as many were driving) was ordered followed by deserts menu perusal. Deserts ordered, delivered and eaten and eventually the bill requested. Must have missed something off as it was too cheap!! But no, everything was correct. What really great value that was. The only problem of the night was the pub doesn't take cards but they did have an ATM in the corner that charged £1.95 per transaction. Very dark ages, cards not accepted! Remember to take cash with you.All in all a very pleasant evening, good food served on time by pleasant staff at good prices. And a really nice landlord and landlady too.As Arni said "I'll be back".

If you are passing this pub and feeling peckish then this is the place to stop. good old pub food with a varied menu at a good price and ample servings.(apparently there is no food served on Sunday night, but the staff told me that there would be no objection to me ordering a take away from nearby Callington and eating it on the premises, how accommodating is that, and some of the takeaways will actually deliver to the pub) I On arrival the first thing that grabs your attention is the massive display of flowers, i have never seen such huge beautiful hanging baskets with a stunning amount of blooms, there are flower troughs all along the flat roof, definitely someone there takes care about how a pub should look. There is a well maintained huge grassed garden (plenty of room for the kids to kick a ball around) with loads of picnic tables, also for the kiddies there is swings and a climbing frame, there is also an enclosed area for toddlers with a sand pit and a sort of wendy house.Although not a smoker there is a comfortable outside covered smoking area with picnic tables and music playing in the background from the juke box.The staff and regulars seem friendly enough, seems like one big happy family. I have always been a real ale drinker and the ales on sale are kept in perfect condition, there is Courage Best, Tribute and Doom, also the pub has been presented by Guinness with a certified accreditation plaque for pouring the perfect pint of Guinness. The is a big conservatory where you can eat in peace, ideal area for family celebrations or business meetings.I can't see any reason for not liking this pub, this is how a pub should be, family friendly and dog friendly. I will be back, great pub with great facilities and great customers. Highly recommend.

Called in for the first time to sample the real ale, which was terrible, and to enquire about out the menu for future reference, but found the management very unwelcoming indeed - in fact almost hostile.A second return visit is therefore very unlikely !

We stopped in this pub during a family holiday near Callington. First impressions were "yeah this is ok, typical pub, umbrellas in the conservatory.... Bit weird but go with it"!! On inspection of the menu the food was very cheap and there was a good selection. Once we had decided we went to the bar to order, we were met by a very stressed bar maid who moaned constantly that she was busy, she made us aware that there was a wait for the food but that was fine, after all we were on holiday. After a while the food arrived, my first thoughts..... Disappointing! My husbands burger looked like a tesco bought horse burger, my fish was oven cooked as was the scampi and the chilli con carne...well we couldn't spot it among the rice! I know the food was cheap however when you consider that most of the food looked like supermarket food and considering you can buy a 4 pack of horse burgers for less than a pound, paying £4 for a burger is not great value for money! The food arrived but my husband realised his side of onion rings had not arrived, we informed the waitress and this is the reply we got ( brase yourselves!) " (shrugs shoulders) well we've forgotten to be honest, do you really need them?" In other words "shut up and eat your crap burger"! We wanted to say "no dear we ordered them and paid the extra money for fun" never in my 30 years of dining out have I ever been spoken to this way in a restaurant, not even a McDonald's, not even when I was having school dinners! After hiding out utter dismay we asked her to get the onion rings. When they arrived we then realised these were also supermarket bought (my guess Asda chosen by you) and again considering you can buy a frozen packet for £1.50 but paid this for 5 this is not good value for money! We worked our way through our tesco horse burgers and birds eye cod and then went to order some desserts, turns out the bar maid was terrified of ordering dessert because the owner was being chef for the day!! I'm sorry what! You don't want the money? Are you trying to close because to be quite frank you don't need any help! my advice to anyone considering stopping here for some grub would be to carry on driving past, go home, open their freezer, find their Asda onion rings, birds eye cod and cook it for dinner saving yourself some money and abuse from an obviously disgruntled member of staff who hates side orders!

Called in on a Friday tea time, friendly staff but we waited for 50 mins for our food which was ok, nothing special. We ordered two portions of chips to go with two kids meals, one standard and one small and they were delivered in the same basket! Had to request they be changed as one likes ketchup the other not. The food was ok although the burgers were disappointing and quite costly for a small meat burger thing with a nice large bap! All in all, nothing to write home about. Sorry but we wouldn't go there again.

We have visited The Swingle Tree on numerous occasions and have always been impressed with the quality of food and beer. It's not overpriced and always busy. A good sign! It has a very large beer garden for those warm summer evenings. It's also in a lovely part of Cornwall.

We went in here for lunch as we were passing through.A pretty basic pub which had been dressed up for Halloween extremely well, with "cackling witches", pumpkins and all sorts. Great fun. Friendly bar staff with a really good value simple food menu, which was cooked nicely.Would use it again if passing.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

Dropped in last night to be greeted by a super friendly bar man. The pizza’s are incredible and their delicious Sunday roasts are now back in the menu. With an unbeatable location and stellar service it’s our favourite spot.....

Really good full Cornish. Generous portions. The bacon was griddled so tasty and not greasy, Harvey's sausages are ways peppery perfect. Would've like a hot plate and homemade beans rather than tinned. Will defo go back. The decaf coffee was dreadful though!
