Swell Cafe in Bromley

I love the jacket potatoes they do especially the prawns and have the best side salad which is t just a heap of soggy lettuce but fresh crispy lettuce with plenty tomatoes cucumber callas red onion plus cabbage which I leave. My son always likes the breakfasts they do but give too much toast to go with the lesser amount of food on the plate. Very good food but since the prices recently went up it would help if the decor and seating looked a bit better as it looks rather shabby and uninviting. Service is always very good

Drink was a bit slow to arrive but was busy Staff are friendly . Amazingly clean apart form the toilets that for me is a big nono dead moths litterd the window seal this I did not like . Bruger looks cooked well but bun a little burnt Chips tasted good crispy and texture was good . Some where allso burnt but again they weher busy if they improve on this I will change my rating to a 5 the decor is hard to put my finger on a mixture of beach and amarican styel Cash payment only . This maybe a issue for some I think they should put this sign on the window Desert was lovely only bad thing about it is the cake was a little dry Final thorts If I came to the Swell cafe u will have a lovely time. They look after there customers like there family and I will be back for more very soon. Thank u to the hard working staff

I have been using this cafe for 6 years. I ordered a takeaway egg and bacon sandwich Yesterday I was short changed for a £20 note and given change for £10 I challenged this and was made to feel stupid and humiliated. Never will I step foot in this place again. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHANGE and if your paying with a note mention which note it is.... The sandwich was NOT worth the £14.70 I was charged!!!

The food tasted good and the portions were generous. If I'm paying a bill for £30 though, you should accept card payment. You shouldn't ask for cash only. That's not acceptable and not normal for a Cafe/Restaurant in 2023.

Easily the best cafe in the area. Me and my partner come here regularly when we’re craving a big breakfast. The food is always sooo good, tables and floor are really clean and the staff are so friendly and polite. Absolutely unreal

We were a party of four today, two dads and their two boys during half term. After a session trampolining we were all starving. Service was amazing, food was incredible and the coffee that came with the brekkie was quality too. Can’t wait to go back!

Orpington is not short of places to eat but none better than the Swell. I visited last week for the first time and ordered the #3 breakfast. It was soo good. Particularly enjoyed the mushrooms. The toast, bread cut nice n thick. I demolished the whole breakfast. It also came with a coffee. I was served by a particularly welcoming lady. Nothing too much trouble. The tables were clean as was the whole dining area. I didn't use the washroom. I highly recommend you give Swell a chance to impress you too.

A cut above many old-school greasy spoons with a menu that combines the staple "something + chips" with many other varieties such as omelettes, sandwiches, grills and roasts. Tasty, filling and well-priced food, and clean and presentable.

Usually I recommend the food at swell cafe but having ordered a roast dinner for the first time I can say tasted like a frozen meal. Veg had no taste...just of water beef with gravy tasted like boil in a bag from a supermarket and potatoes were dry but crispy but no flavour of being roasted. Won't have that meal again at £9.90. Tasteless.

Very good experience at swell cafe. Firstly the staff are extremely friendly and the place is nice and clean. The breakfast are fairly priced and they do a great cup of brew. Most importantly the food is very good. What makes or breaks a breakfast is the sausages and these were good quality sausages. Definitely recommend.

Sat down at a table, despite the cafe being only half full was asked to move to a tiny table, NEVER been asked to move in a cafe before? declined and left. Went to The Tea Tree Cafe and sat where I wanted along, with everyone else, it was quite busy. Don’t quite see the logic in refusing definite business for “potential business” Really quite stupid!

Rude waitress. State Cumberland sausages on menu. Made change to vegetarian got cheap alternative sausage not Cumberland. Forgot bread and butter for 2 breakfasts. Staff not wearing masks at all. Should be wearing them when approaching customers tables. Still charged full price, not a pleasant experience. Came away feeling sick after eating there

Wow, so pleasantly surprised. Went there today for breakfast, expecting it to be another bog-standard greasy spoon. However, none of that - the café was very clean and airy & the staff warm and friendly. Our breakfasts were huge! The menu had many special deals, which included toast and coffee and the food was so well cooked, with no sign of oil of fat! We highly recommend.

This cafe is your typical English fare cafe, with large portions and very reasonable prices. The 4 of us had a late breakfast with drinks for less than £25

Found this place a week ago! It’s at the bottom of the Highstreet opposite Iceland. Cheap and cheerful and money’s worth! I tend to go here before work to get a takeaway breakfast, the chips here are £1.50 and are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! Better than fast food chain fries! I’ve also ordered a “traditional breakfast” here which was £5 which had bacon, eggs, sausage, chips and baked beans!!! This can also be a takeaway! The sausage there that I bought separately was big for £1! So I currently buy chips and a sausage for £2.50 everyday! If you’re looking for a value for money cheap and cheerful cafe, go to this place! This is a cash only place I believe

A wide variety of food to choose from - generally what you would expect from a cafe, but they also do very reasonably priced roast dinners (and you get loads!)

I regularly visit this cafe never had a single problem with my food. Large portions for a good price Only thing I would say is they don’t use go brown sauce or Heinz ketchup which is a must with a fry up! Decor could be improved very random interior. £4.50 for a large jacket cheese n beans with a nice salad. Also do takeaways

This Little Cafe is almost hidden away at the bottom of the high street. I dropped in at lunch time and though it was quite busy, the staff were friendly, attentive and more than up to the challenge. My Roast Dinner was served quickly and cooked perfectly and I left feeling rested and well fed. There are quite a few places to eat in Orpington, however, with good food, good staff, good service and reasonable prices, this particular Cafe is Swell.

The Swell Cafe is easy to find on Orpington High Street directly opposite the Wetherspoon's pub and not far from the Premier Inn Hotel. The cafe is very clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is efficient. The menu includes a good selection of breakfasts and lunches at a very good price, generous portions and very tasty. Will return.

I was sitting within the walls of swell cafe, I saw a man by the name of Jedi General Tralgus walk over to my table with a notepad in hand. He wore long robes, similar to that of his Ancient Jedi shrouded Robes. I noticed in his robes a hanging metalic lightsaber that seemed to have a green aura surrounding the object. I look up slightly more to see engraved, red and pussing warts that seemed to be bleeding all over his pale smiling face. I could see his greasy glasses drip onto the notepad as he lent over the table, edging closer to me. He took out a pen that looked tiny compared to his fat hands, he wrote down my order of in a swift manor, it consisted of A double bacon sandwich and a free pass to the Jedi Academy Training Facility. He dashed of and in no time he had my voucher and food ready for me. I pull out my ever so empty wallet to find I have no money to pay for these luxuries. I said to him "I do not have the money you need my master", he said with a wave of his hand "You have a bank account full of your life savings to pay with". I was unable to control myself and repeated the words he had said. I then took out my laptop and got my bank to pay Swell Cafe the money I owed. I then went homeless and hungry due to the price of the food, still worth it. I would relive this again and again. The feeling of pain within my stomach was worth the roast dinners Tralgus could provide.

The Staff were very polite and very helpful and food was very good and cost was very good will be coming back in the next few weeks

I normally go to this cafe quite a bit when I'm in Orpington it's cheap and reasonable but 4 weeks ago. I had a big fried breakfast normally I have never had a problem with their fried breakfast normally they're quite delicious but this one everything else was ok but the sausage didn't taste right on the night after eat in there I wasn't well I had diarrhoea all night long the food is good for price wise but if you don't want to have a tummy ache I would advise not to go for there breakfast if you do have their breakfast don't eat the sausage

The staff are very friendly and the food is well cooked and always tasty. We have coffee and breakfast here most Saturday mornings. The kitchen is visible to all and very clean and tidy. Prices are very competitive and extremely good value.

My wife and I come here as a treat every once in a while. We have always found the service and be fast, efficient, and very friendly. The food is a surprise. You can go anywhere and get a greasy egg and ham and chips breakfast, however this place does it so well. S'well. Swell. Get it?I literally just finished shoving a huge Spanish omelette down my neck and it was brilliant. So full of flavour! My wife likes mushrooms and they are happy to substitute them for sausage. The tomatoes are also so good the way they grill them....I may have to find an excuse to come here for lunch...And then dinner....

Service was fast and friendly and menu massive. Sometimes all you want is ham, egg an' chips and maybe an extra sausage. Nothing pretentious here, the eggs don't have a back-story and there's no chapter about where the bacon pigs had their second home. Just good old Brit caf cooking server hot and fast.Salt 'n' vinegar on the tables, tea in a mug. Perfick. And lots of locals think so too; this place was packed, and rightly so; every one of the staff works hard here and they do a grand job.Do pop in to support this local independent business!

Be careful here. Was offered a bannana milkshake as strawberry was unavailable but not told it would cost £2.50 instead of the advertised £1.40. It was crusha syrup mixed with milk, nice but nothing special. the lamb Shish with rice and salad was well presented but the lamb was tough and fatty, fried with onions peppers and mushrooms, not a shish in sight! My partner had stale cheap sliced bread with an expensive breakfast made from the cheapest tasteless ingredients.

we found this by chance when visiting Orpingten and we had a great lunch. Not only was it well priced but the staff were really friendly. I would really recommend it. They have quite and extended menu, and you can see the kitchen where they cook. It is nice and clean as well which is an added bonus.
