This area, which hundreds of years ago was noted for smuggling, attracts a lot of visitors, but my word you have to be fit to amble around. There's a maze of tiny streets to explore and the beach is stony and solid. It’s not known if Robin Hood ever visited. It's a steep hill down to the bay that becomes a real heart stress test on return back up. We were four and went here chiefly for coffees and a few cannoli sweet treats. We sat outside as weather allowed and the view across the bay was delightful, even with a raspy breeze. Inside was large spacious and empty. The welcome was muted and curt and it's not obvious that the chap who brought out our drinks and food and the one we paid as we left are aware that they are in the hospitality industry, nevertheless the coffees and treats were very good.

Absolutely fantastic. Just unbelievably good sausage and bacon sandwich. Lovely cream scone. Brilliant coffee with a stunning view! Very quick service.

Extremely rude. I emailed twice to book a meal 6 weeks in advance. Weeks later I messaged on Instagram still no reply. I phoned and the man on the phone acted like I was an inconvenience. We were travelling 3 hours so I didn’t want to not book.

Last time we visited the bay, we struggled to find a nice dog-friendly cafe we could get in. Having walked past the Cove's outdoor seating above the sea wall we made a note to find the way in come lunchtime. Although the chilly 'summer' day meant we'd missed the soup, what we did have proved tasty and warming. The ham and cheese ciabatta had nice additions of spinach and a chutney/relish, not to mention the delicious ciabatta bread -sizeable and almost sweet like brioche but not quite, with a nice salad garnish. I'm assuming it was the owner who chatted with us about a few things before enthusing about their lemon and ginger tea with marmalade. We were continuing with our lunch when lo and behold, unexpectedly he returned with a complementary mug of it for us to try - and it certainly lived up to its billing. Desserts were varied slices and cannolie (I think), with the lemon frangipane slice a lovely change from lemon drizzle and beautifully decorated.

Very pleasant cafe bar with a great outside terrace overlooking the sea, Cafe is dog friendly which was a bonus. We all had sandwiches and I had an excellent ciabatta with melted wensleydale cheese and chorizo. Not the cheapest place but the quality was excellent.

We saw this restaurant as we were going down the hill to the beach and mentally pinned a "must try" badge for our return journey. On the way back up, we dropped in and I was surprised to find it so quiet. Lovely place with a large lounge/restaurant and a good sized balcony overlooking the sea which is where we headed. Staff were very welcoming and chatty which isn't always the case in popular holiday resorts but here, you were made very much at home. Drinks and food ordered we had a great few hours watching the world go by whilst eating a range of delightful sandwiches.

Stumbled across this cafe after a walk from Whitby to Robins hood bay. The atmosphere is bustling, we sat outside with the dog. The staff were very friendly, and the food amazing. We had the ciabatta, it was a melt in the mouth experience. Best we have had. Don't pass this by without a visit.

Me and my boyfriend found the cove after walking to Robin Hood’s Bay from Whitby. We were exhausted and covered in mud, and ended up spending over an hour here recovering. We got pizza, some cold drinks, and a latte and hot chocolate. Really good food and drink, lovely staff, and the view from the terrace was gorgeous. We did end up going inside bc of the wind and my boyfriend fell asleep on the sofa we settled on. The bartender refilled our water bottles for us for the journey back, which set us in really good stead to keep going.

Fantastic views when sat outside. Decent menu selection. Friendly accommodating staff. Dof friendly. Clean and tidy. Can't fault the place.

We walked from Whitby to Robin Hood Bay and the walk is fab!! Arrived in Robin Hood Bay which was very pretty but definitely needed a cuppa! The Cove was the one we went to and it was really good! very modern and clean, good menu and lovely cakes at the front, good service, we only had a cup of tea and a hot chocolate which were both good,

Lovely lunch at The Cove today, the chorizo ciabatta was delicious. Tried a new tea, lemon and marmalade, or something like that. Very refreshing. The staff were very friendly, as always.

Always come here several times on every visit to the Bay, sit outside regardless of the weather, just can't beat the views. Always gluten free choices on the menu & in the cake cabinet, staff always happy to alter things to suit, dog friendly as well!

Best view in all of Robin Hood’s Bay to enjoy a drink with family/friends. The staff including the owner are wonderful. Lovely sense of humour and kindness too. Great selection of alcoholic drinks (I had a gin) and the christmassy hot chocolates are an instant win (according to the kids). An absolute must if you are visiting x 👌🌊🩷❤️💚💜

Found this little gem on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The carrot and lentil soup was delicious, the roast beef paninis , generous filling and equally delicious. We would happily eat here again, friendly staff, good views when it's not raining.

Friendly cafe with a great environment. Beautiful view over the Bay. There was a great menu, with brunch and lunch options and also lovely looking cakes. We had gluten free cakes and coffee and a perfect place for a relaxing rest.

A super place to eat. The location is lovely, with incredible views over the sea if you choose to sit outside. Inside is nicely decorated. Helpful, friendly staff. Very dog friendly. The food is excellent. I would particularly recommend the ciabattas. With out a doubt the best ciabatta I have ever had, the bun itself melted in the mouth. Beautifully decorated cappuccino as well!

This cafe is a lovely place to stop off for a drink and/or food. It has uninterrupted sea views and listening to the sounds of the seaside makes for a great experience. There are 3 choices of seating, indoors, a patio with a view of the sea or a patio looking out over the stream. All are equally nice places to enjoy the delicious food and friendly hospitality of this hidden gem of a place. We highly recommend it.

Visited here at just before lunchtime, the terrace outside was full but plenty of seats indoors. 2 lattes, a toasted tea cake and a bacon and sausage sandwich was £17.50 The coffee was delicious and nice and strong. Hubby enjoyed his sandwich and my tea cake was ok. Had to go back to ask for the jam, even though I had ordered it with jam? Young lad who served me was friendly enough but the girl who brought the food was very surly.

We have been coming to this venue for years but I have to say that after the refurbishment it is better than ever. We booked a table to for pizza tonight and we weren't disappointed. Super thin crispy base and tasty tasty toppings. We usually have been here for breakfast or lunch or for one of the delicious cakes they serve but being able to eat out in the evening in the heart of the bay with such amazing views is a real winner. Thank you so much for such a lovely meal and such excellent service. We will be back.

Beautiful coffee and food but the rudest staff member. Approached the man who had zero customers at the counter, 10am to ask for a code to use the bathroom. Asked twice as he ignored /did not hear my first request. “Can you remind me of the code please for the loo, was it XXX?” Replied very tersely , “you can see I’m pouring a hot drink and health and safety rules state you can’t talk at the same time!” What a lot of rubbish. He put a dampener on what had been a great week with the friendliest of locals. The staff member who served me also looked like she wanted to be elsewhere with no eye contact or smiles. Wished we’d spent our money elsewhere
