Bareca in Scarborough

We were staying at the Bike and Boot Hotel and had meals here on the two nights of our stay. The first night was a Thursday, food, staff and service were impeccable. We really enjoyed the food and the staff were attentive. However our second meal was late on a Friday evening, what a completely different experience. Some of the staff were lacking and because of this one female server was running around doing her best to make up for the others lack of ability. Food and service was mediocre on that evening. I would not go back to this restaurant at busy times but more than happy to go on weekdays and less busy times.

We found this place whilst looking for somewhere we could have something nice to eat which would allow us to bring our dog. This place definitely ticked those boxes. The food we had was all very nice and the service was very quick. We would definitely visit again.

I have written another review about our stay last month and this one deserves a special mention in its own right. My wife and our Newfoundland were made a complete fuss of throughout our stay and instantly fell in love with the place. The menu is huge ! So much to choose from and the best Calamari I have ever tried. The lighting, the atmosphere and staff were all top class. Give it a try !! Well worth it

The best cocktails we have had in a long time! The team here seem truly passionate about their mixology, it was entertaining watching them mix up creations , truly attentive service. Ryan, Sean and Emma thank you for making our break away such a good night.

Came here about 5 pm on a Thursday. Glad we came early as it soon got busy. We had 8 tapa and a paella between us. Roast Potatoes with rosemary - these were exquisite, one of my favourites. Slightly crunchy giving way to a melt in the mouth centre with the healthy taste of fat ! Truffle and Parmesan Fries - I was disappointed in these, did not pick up the truffle at all and they were just bland. Mac and Cheese - Sauce good for dipping other stuff in but again this lacked punch and depth of flavour. Charcuterie - Served in a dish on a layer of rocket. Would have been nice to have some olive oil on the table to drizzle on. Hot Spicy Chicken Wings - not hot or spicy but were tasty enough. Fresh Mussels - Came in their own little mussel pot, quite a lot of broken shells and grit. Thin watery sauce. My biggest let down. Doubtful of how fresh they were. King prawn skewers - advertised as barbecued, shame I saw no char but they were tasty enough. Calamari - these were immense. I believe they were in Panko breadcrumbs which made a real difference. Seafood Paella - The top cm of rice was chalky and undercooked but once you got through it was tasty enough. Although there are negative comments we really enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere was top notch, room big and airy with great views. Only two waiting on staff and I had difficulty in gaining their attention when required. But they were very pleasant. Had one Old Fashioned cocktail and this was very well made. Service charge added to bill at 5% which we were happy with. Total bill 90. Accessibility - stairs at the front but they can let you in the back door to avoid them. There is a disabled toilet.

I have previously left a 3 star review in April 22 due to poor service. We visited again today and the service was top class. Friendly staff who were very accommodating and lovely. Made such a difference to our experience. The food remains at a really high standard and we will definitely be returning more regularly again. Thank you

went on the 8th July. one word to sum it up- excellent. food quality lovely, reasonable prices, dog friendly, the man serving us was attentive and kind. Will definitely be returning. i had the chicken burger and my sister had pizza great food big portions just fab!

Called into this place on the spur of the moment with my wife and 16 year old daughter. the decor is of a nice quirky standard but I have to say that I was very disappointed with the food ,the pizza was bland the chicken Milanese was a small over cooked portion served with a small garlic butter and overcooked hard pre-packed fries .The deserts were well overpriced for what was basically ice-cream with a sauce and served with a spoon that did not even fit into the bottom of the glass. Basically the food is well overpriced for the quality as are the drinks £4.75 for a 330ml bottle of Peroni. There are far better places to eat and i do not mind paying a higher price if the quality is there.

Came across Bareca and very pleased we did,it was so welcoming and great decor pulled us in. We chose a table which is nice when they let you do that and settled in. The menu was varied and again it was nice to try a couple of smaller plates. I’m sorry to say the food was bland, lacking flavour especially the mussel broth/sauce and shell fish pasta had very little discernible fish in it and neither of the dishes even smelled of fish? A little garnish of parsley maybe? The food could be better, otherwise loved the place!

A lovely atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. The two pizzas and four mini plates we ordered were amazing! Very tasty and fresh! We will definitely visit again in the near future.

Great laid back venue for a family dinner (2 adults and 2 kids). Cocktails were good, food was tasty and staff friendly and happily responded to our numerous requests including returning my paella to the kitchen for a couple more minutes. Fab sea views and great place to visit with a well-behaved dog as they are allowed in the restaurant. Looking forward to a return visit with our dog in the future. Slightly expensive but worth it for the good points.

Modern and inviting bar and eating area. However, 'hot' meals were served on a cold plate, the food was lukewarm, and they were very small portions. Their menu prices were quite high considering the above.

Nice restaurant , friendly polite staff and good food. Small gripe the portion size for the price and advertised with Pancetta so expected more than 2 scraps on the top as decoration. Stumbled across this place last night as it was close to our hotel. Visited Sunday night, table for 6 including 4 children. We were seated promptly. Service was really good, food all very tasty. Restaurant was busy and lots of dogs visiting with their owners too which was quirky, obviously a regular spot for locals in the know. Very enjoyable tea, would visit again if in the area 🍔🍕🍟🍝😋
