Sweets Grill in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Myself and others go every TUESDAY for breakfast before our sociable day out. The mix is usually 3 but sometimes 5 or 6. WONDERFUL

My personal assistant Chris really enjoyed his first time coming here at the Sweet's Grill cafe. And so did I. I've been there before a couple of times or so. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. I had a sausage bap while my personal assistant had a traditional breakfast 😋 We sat by the window where we could see some geese outside. And some picnic tables outside. It is a splendid cafe, and I recommend anyone to visit there and have a meal there too.

We had no food in so decided to eat breakfast out. I’d heard about this place and so we thought we’d give it a try. We were given a warm welcome and ordered two small breakfasts but were curious about the pancakes. Because we lived in the USA we were keen to try them. The breakfasts were lovely and well cooked and the pancakes were good with plenty of maple syrup and crispy bacon just as they should be. Recommended.

Set in a lovely location in the middle of some fishing lakes , a little diamond of a cafe , fantastic breakfast , excellent staff & service and value for money , a must visit if in the area

Looking for somewhere between Par and Fowey for breakfast I found this place. Sat nav won’t direct you directly there so look out for the signs on the road. Down a dirt track, plenty of pot holes but you’ll find your way there! Given a table and read the signs that you order at the counter. Had 6 people so quite a big order to place but the lad at the counter double and triple checked it so nothing was wrong. All the food came out after a short wait, the portions are big even for the small breakfasts. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Wouldn’t think it’s the finest ingredients but good quality for a greasy spoon. The large baguette breakfast was gigantic! You’d probably see it on a competitive eating challenge! Good value, big portions, decent staff. Would come again!

We've been coming here for years but hadn't been since before lockdown (sadly). They have made massive efforts to make the layout and systems as safe as possible for customers and staff and the food is as good as I remember and still great value. If covid is putting you off visiting, don't let it. Medium breakfast with black pudding please!!!

Great breakfast, great price, great service. Excellent. Popped in here for a brekkie, excellent Covid adherence, and sat outside on a glorious morning. Service was quick, efficient and polite in pleasant surroundings. Thankyou.

Absolutely fantastic service and food. Covid precautions are faultless from the minute you enter, one way in, one way out. Screens separating each table to avoid cross contamination. Servers wearing face visors. Felt very safe. The breakfasts are superb, spoilt for choice. You won’t be disappointed.

I had a jacket potato with ham and salad and it was fantastic value service was excellent and the staff are very friendly I would highly recommend eating here.

Lovely food but the breakfast meal was too big for me.Old man that I am...It was really well worth a visit.We were going to come back for lunch but had to move on.

Free Car park and driveway in, is atrocious. Potholed, muddy in wet and clouds of dust in summer...and OMG sump killing if driving too fast ...but take it easy, drive across the holes slowly and its sure worth it. An idyllic setting by two large, beautifully planted, fishing lake. Wild Geese,ducks and all manner of local birdlife, live side by side. Sweets grill understands this ecological gem...and provide a large tub of bird food by the back door with a cup within. Anyone is welcome to take a filled cup out to the eagerly awaiting birds. One enters a differant world with this American diner/grill, themed ambiance. Enormously large value for money, menu. You will never walk away hungry...its clean,the staff helpful and cheery and you never wait that long. Kids portions available just ask. If you can engage with the locals, when approached, a person will soon understand the word new friend. Local people go in their droves. Being a global traveller,I always eat with local people as they know the best places... I hate using the word cheap..but outside this haven you will be charged up to five times as much for your same well-cooked hot food. It's the best value for money eaterie in Cornwall.

No choice of brown or white but really well filled sandwich and really fresh bread. Lovely very coffee and good prices. Will be back

Have been here quite a few time before, one of the best places around here for cooked breakfast & lunch’s. Freshly cooked food, great tasting, friendly staff. Good selection on the breakfast & lunch menu, good size portions. Well worth a visit.

Go here quite often and once they didn’t fail, good selection of breakfast & lunch dishes . The food is all cooked fresh, very tasty & good value. The medium breakfast is a good size & will keep you going all day. Seen the burger meals come out and they look awesome. The best place to a breakfast in Par. Well worth a visit.

2nd visit, great value for money. Very varied menu if you don’t fancy a breakfast, which I did have the first time and it was lovely. It’s not that hard to find, and I find it’s setting very quaint, with a lake and wildlife out the back. Worth a visit!

We heard alot about this place and wanted to check it out. First off its really difficult to find via sat nav and its down a winding dirt road and is a sort off poundshop log cabin. We had our doubts but we were hungry and decided to go in anyways, we walk in and there is a young girl there with a miserable look on her face, I was waiting for her to say something but she didnt, I was holding my 1 yr old son and was lookimg to put him in a high chair but she didnt offer, I proceed to check the menu and miserable girl chirps in that the close at 2pm, it was currently 1.40. I said sorry I didnt realise this no worries and go to walk out the door, he then shouts you can still order though....right ok....I should of left then and deep down I knew his but we were hungry....so we ordered a cup of tea and a black coffee. This is basically a spoon of nescafe instant shoved into a shabby old mug with hot water, coffee lovers please avoid this place. We thought lets not order anything too flamboyant given the circumstances, 2 bacon sandwhiches and 2 sausage sandwhiches, well the meat was deep fat fried and the sandwhiches were thrown together, and we paid over £15 for the privilege of this greasy spoon. I had to sit my 1 yr old son on a normal chair as every high chair was filthy and a wipe down with a wet wipe wouldnt of even sorted it, the girl working was a miserable a sin and had zero customer service skills, most of the sandwhiches were left the kids were complaining they were still hungry and we wasted our money, we made a hasty retreat! AVOID!

We holiday in Par every year, but this is the first time we count Sweets Grille.

We always come here for breakfast. Great value, portion sizes to suit all appetites and will happily customise to your preference. The rest of the menu looks great too and the panini I had on an afternoon visit was lovely.

We went as a family for breakfast, my little boy is 1 and has hip problems which the high chairs where so comfy for him and it was a lovely touch. The food was ‘outstanding’ especially for the price. Food was quick to come even though they was busy. Will be returning very soon.

Originally went with friends and then took my dad. Friendly staff and fresh hot food. Love it. It feels so warming and welcoming. Can't fault it x

The other day me and my family decided we would go out for brunch so we chose sweets grill it was delicious me and my younger brother had “freak shakes” a ice cream milkshake and it was delicious then we had cheesey chips my mum and dad had the brunch and they said it was delicious! Definitely go there again!

The food was amazing!!! Portion size was also great, whist being at a very reasonable price. Table service could've been slightly better.

went in and ordered medium breakfast came with 2sausage,bacon,beans, and two hash browns and an egg and slice of toast,first class very big portions,i struggled to eat it all,i shall ask for a small next time

After deciding we were all hungry we decided to try out Sweets Grill. We managed to find it easily and loads of parking. We ordered the large breakfast and a boss breakfast, all of which were with us very quickly. Well to say we were stuffed is an under statement, loads of food for the price. Piping hot on arrival and a free cup of tea, what more do you need to set you up for the day. Very happy all round.

Go here quite often and have the Breakfast, but this time we had the cheeseburger n chips, and once again it was great tasting burger with cheese, salad n chips, plenty of it, great value for the money. Well worth a visit.

First time of visiting Sweets Grill, have to say was impressed. Staff are friendly. Menu was great, loads of choice. Not a huge fan of hash browns, but they were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going back

If you have visited the village of Par & fancy somewhere good to eat then make your way to this grill. The staff there are very friendly,they have a comprehensive menu to suit all tastes, they also provide generous portions of their very tasty food.

Food was very tasty, place was clean and the staff were friendly. would defiantly visit here again. Prices were extremely good for the portion sizes.

First time here and I'll definitely be back. Fantastic value for money. Been impressed by other places in Cornwall but I reckon this beats them all. I can't think there's another place around that does bigger, better or more reasonably-priced all-day breakfasts.

I'm quite baffled reading the reviews on here, as I'd say it's far from excellent & im being generous with my rating!

This grill is situated by the fishing lakes, has an outside area, it's also dog friendly. The food is cooked fresh and is really good, and the price is very good as well

The breakfasts are the best and extremely good value, don't be deceived by the names medium for most cafe would be large or extra large. And a drink to boot. Will be going there a lot. Keep up the excellent work.

Came here for a late breakfast whilst visiting my son who lives nearby. A lovely setting right next to a caravan park and fishing lodges. I would highly recommend a visit.

Way off the main road at the fishing ponds, busy trad cafe full of locals. Breakfast, sandwiches, chips. All done very well. Toilet facilities minimal. Hand washing at stand pipe but perfectly functional. Great pit stop, not touristy.

The directions on trip advisor are hard to follow and the cafe is tucked away from the road and you could easily miss it.

My son took me for a big breakfast fry up , to SweetsGrill . I had never been there before,although I only live five minutes away. I was pleasantly surprised, they had a huge range of meals to choose from . The cafe was clean and friendly ,the setting was just beautiful ,with wild geese by the lake. The sun was shining and there were tables outside, so we could sit in the sun. Children played outside, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I thought the meal we had was excellent value, beautifully served ,hot and tasty. I can`t wait to go again and take my friends with me.

Had a fantastic breakfast here, it was excellent value for money. Only found this place on the last day of our holidays. It is situated just past the train station on the left, as you head out of Par, near the duck ponds.

Since discovering this cafe we haven been regular visitors. From either full breakfasts or just a drink we always enjoy it here as you know you're getting fab, freshly cooked food at an excellent price. Love it in the nicer weather as can sit outside near the lakes.

The menu looked extensive on the board but was nearly all breakfast items or burgers and sandwiches. We where hungry so had to choose breakfast. The breakfast was good apart from sausages. The ladies where lovely. Not expensive just rightly priced. Would have been nice to have a stew or cottage pie or something like that at lunch time.

second time ive been and not disappointed , 1st time had medium brekkie , 2 eggs , 2 bacon, 2 hash browns , 2 sausages, beans , tomatoes, mushrooms , 2 full slices of toast , and a mug of coffee £5,45 if thats not value i dont know what is . i must say the food was well cooked and tasty , only downside was the sausages , they were rank , think they must have been the cheapest of the cheap , 2nd time ,had a medium, but swapped the sausages for fried bread instead , also 2 full slices , was equally good , roll on next friday , the menu is a massive variety( burgers , hot dogas , sandwiches , jkt pots etc etc ) as are the meals , small is 1 if everything , medium 2 , large 3 and the Boss 4 plus large beans , toms , mushrooms , fried bread and toast and large coffee or tea , i dare you to try it lol

Took a group here for lunch, it looks a bit like a big shed next to a pond....don't be deceived by appearances, it's a fantastic place to eat, an extensive menu, all food freshly prepared, friendly helpful staff and the food was amazing value for money! Large portions, very nicely cooked and presented, we guessed it would be good by the number of people there. Burgers, chilli, ham egg n chips all very nice, wish I had the appetite to attempt one of their awesome looking breakfasts, the largest of which must the biggest in Cornwall! We will be returning and highly recommend this place, a little gem.

Regularly visit here and the food is great but the sausages in recent weeks have changed to what seems to be a cheaper sausage. Please bring back the old ones! We don't want to eat else where! Thanks

Been a few times for breakfast , but had lunch this time and it was good value, good size portion and very tasty, this place is great value , fresh tasty food and friendly staff.

Wow if you like food then you will love sweets grill , huge portions and very varied menus ,something for everyone of all ages ,Excellent food all freshly cooked ,very friendly staff ,And dog friendly as well after you've eaten you can take a walk around your the duck pond ,feed the ducks and watch the men fishing ,its a lovely place .

I use this establishment regularly and have had breakfasts, lunches or just a beverage. The fact I visit at least once a week speaks volumes! There is quite an extensive menu and the portions are generous, the service is great and very friendly. Food is cooked to order so is fresh on your plate. You can eat outside with a view across a fishing lake if you desire, you may get a visit from a muscovy duck looking for a treat or just to say hello. It is dog and children friendly. It is not fine dining by any means but is a brilliant place to eat.

What a great place to go for Breakfast, the best around here, well tasty and great value, they have a large menu for lunch/ snacks, this is a hidden gem, well worth a visit.

Came here on a visit down Cornwall and was very impressed . Pretty large menu And the prices were so cheap . Obviously it's not fine dining but for £4.99 for a giant chilli dog who cares . Friendly staff as well so definitely worth a visit

Sweets is a well priced cafe, the meals are ample and freshly cooked, we have never had a bad meal here, will go again.

What a great place for a great meal or breakfast, I have had the breakfast what a lot you get for the price, toast is included so is tea or coffee and you get free top update. Freshly cooked and very tasty. Worth a visit.

Visited here for breakfast and was not disappointed excellent food and value for money would highly recommend and will be back. Nice little café clean and tidy, only downside is the road leading in which is full of pot holes so you will have to bear with that and have great food at the end of it.

When I took my mate here I had to swear him to secrecy. He was blindfolded till we arrived at the entrance. When you step out of your vehicle you step back 40 years to a time where friendship and values were promoted. Best destresser in the world. My mate cannot believe how good it is he thinks that if he ever returns to find it he will just see a mist. A vapour that hangs over this mystical area much like the brigadoon in the films. You will not be dissappointed but please keep it a secret to yourselves.
