Popped in here whilst looking for a place to have a coffee. We ended up having the soup which was a great choice as it was warm, exceedingly tasty and very filling. The coffee was great, and the cake was out of this world. The owners could not do enough for us, but also left us alone when we were chatting away.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon after struggling to find anywhere else that was open and able to accommodate 4 adults, 4 children and 3 prams! The owner was so welcoming and understanding and didn't bat an eyelid when the rest of the family (another 7 adults and a dog!) rocked up. We had ice cream and coffee and the churros were delicious 😋. The cafe was decorated in a vintage style with comfy seating. The only thing to highlight is the entrance is up a flight of steps, we managed to get the pushchairs up, but it's not wheelchair accessible. Everything was reasonably priced and nothing was too much trouble for the owner (even when the dog kicked over his water bowl!). We were only in Pateley Bridge for the day, but if we visit again, we would definitely prioritise coming back here.

My partner & I were due to stay at Sweetheart for 2 nights - then, the morning we were due to travel, my partner tested positive for COVID. We were devastated, especially as we'd been so careful. I rang to cancel the booking, which we'd already paid for. Jonathan was so very kind - as well as sending best wishes for a speedy recovery, he immediately refunded our booking. I must stress he did NOT need to do this - it was kindness & generosity, pure & simple. We will DEFINITELY be staying with them in the future. People as good as this should be treasured!

We visited this tea room on Saturday afternoon after a long walk in the Dales. The hosts Jon & Yoshi were so welcoming on our arrival and couldn't do enough for us. They showed us to a lovely spot outside (due to covid restrictions) where we sat in the sun (and the rain) enjoying the wildlife and the peace and quiet. They came outside to make sure we had everything we needed and were very attentive. I had a latte which was really nice. I have a coffee machine at home so appreciate good coffee and this certainly was! I had a slice of lemon cake which was delicious. We would definitely visit again. The hosts were so lovely and this is situated in a beautiful spot.

My boys and I were seeking some shade and a cool beverage on a particularly hot day in Pateley Bridge. We came across this quaint and intriguing establishment, where we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly charming hosts, Jon and Yoshi. They moved a table and chairs to a glorious spot in the garden, where butterflies flitted between the rays of sunshine. My boys sampled the delights of the Ripley’s ice cream, whilst I enjoyed a wide ranging conversation with Jon (including Philip Pullman and His Dark Materials, the NHS and parenthood!). Nothing was too much trouble, with complementary iced water provided. We left refreshed and reinvigorated. Thanks so much to Jon and Yoshi for an experience that my children haven’t stopped talking about since. We will be back very soon!

Pouring with rain we nipped into this tea shop to warm up with a coffee. The one tiny window was stuffed full of Knick knacks so no light. You couldn’t have looked out if you tried. The place was very dark inside and on closer inspection- full of junk. We ordered our coffees and they came in thick cheap ugly mugs- not consistent with a tea shop. The coffee was bitter old filter coffee that had been stood ages. We left it. As we were the only ones there we looked at the walls, architrave and windowsill. All were filthy and the radiator full of grime- how disgusting. Two people came in, stood at the counter, their entry had rung the doorbell but no one came-at all- we should have left when they did! My husband shouted to the owner who then came through- didn’t use a till and said ‘£5’. I have never been in such a dark dirty dingy place in all my life- never ever again. Either get a cleaner and some staff with serving etiquette, matching tea services - or call it a day. You have a good presence on the high street,. But painting your place purple is not a good look- buy some paint and decent furniture, clean carpeting or flooring, if you intend to carry on. Oh, and a proper coffee machine. Many people do the old fashioned with style. This is a plastic, cheap version like someone has gone mad at a car boot sale - so glad we didn’t order food.

Yoshi's delightful tea room is particularly great for walkers and cyclists as she stays open till 5pm and even longer if customers are still there. So many other tea rooms close about 4pm or 4.30pm, which is too rushed if you've been walking. She makes delicious home-made cakes, including gluten-free ones. Today I had a fabulous rhubarb cake with actual chunks of cooked rhubarb in it. It wasn't bitter but it wasn't overly sweetened either. And she serves the tea in china cups which really does somehow seem to enhance the taste. As it was sunny, we all sat out the back in her lovely cobbled back garden. And Yoshi is so lovely. Just perfect. The tea room is conveniently located halfway up the main street and has some artwork in it too. Highly recommended.

As a group of cyclists we have great experience at spotting a good tea room and indeed a bad! Having arrived from a considerable distance, the damaged front door should have provided a suitable indicator of what to expect! Being seated at the rear of the premises (next to the fridge!!) the gentleman owner provided an additional couple of tables from outside for us, wiping them down - fair enough. The outwardly genial owner seemed somewhat stressed out, as if not an experienced host and caterer (if not, then it was a dammed good impression!) and as only he and his partner were staffing the venue, so indeed the pressure was on! It may be that they were wanting to maximise their profits and not fritter them away on other staff - poor choice that, really!? The ordering process was undertaken, somewhat amusingly and haphazardly from our perspective with, in due course, the orders arriving. Having had time to go the loo I found it very basic indeed and somewhat grimy, not at all impressive or what it should have been! What bugged us was the bill which included an extra untold 70p per person for jam requested with the four teacakes. The small pot of jam provided to share between the four of us(!) was insufficient for all and a top up had to be requested. Indeed the cost of the small portion of jam should have been included with the teacake and not as a untold extra at excessive charge! The teacakes were the smallest I'd ever come across and came ready buttered, perhaps to minimise overheads again!? Others advised that their various orders were scrimped upon too! In all, not an experience we would recommend nor a venue to attend in larger (cycling) groups. A quirky staff and surroundings doesn't make up for poor sized portions, limited catering skills and a run down venue at a premium cost - improvements are required but we will not return (mutually fortunate no doubt!?) or recommend!

We popped in for a tea and cake. We had the Apple Toffee cake and it was scrumptious. The lovely lady who waited on us asked how it was and when we said how we enjoyed it she did a little hooray!!! and beamed a huge smile. She made us smile and her husband was quite comical when things got busy and trying to find places to put people. Lovely little spot.

Quirky accommodation. Secure overnight storage for our two cycles in a room adjoining our bedroom. The lady that welcomed us was very friendly and chatty, her partner, however had an argument with some other female guests at breakfast and even argued with us when we tried to mediate. He did eventually apologise to us, the female guests had left though. Not a good way to run a business. The incident marred our stay and I would not stay here again.

We used Pateley Bridge as a base for walking the Nidderdale Way (in 2 days - it's manageable) and couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to stay. Yoshi and John were very understanding that we couldn't give a reliable arrival time and were flexible with breakfast times too. We are vegan and they provided everything we asked for. The house is fabulous - a great fusion of Ye Olde Worlde, East-meets-West, and contemporary comfort; I know it sounds unlikley, but it really does work. Tastefully done.

Eight of us were looking for a tea room at 4.30 one Sunday. Most were closed or about to close. Yoshi welcomed us in. Two women leaving as we entered recommended the cakes, especially the muffins and the peanut cake. Actually, all the cakes, home-made by Yoshi, were simply delicious. Lovely mugs of tea, too, and lattes for others in our group. Even though it was later than most tea rooms would stay open on a Sunday in early March, we didn't feel rushed at all. We'll definitely be back next time we are in Pateley Bridge. Arigato gozaimasu, Yoshi!

Stopped in from cool weather for a coffee and tea. Warmly greeted by owner. Had a pot of Taylor's Yorkshire tea served in a proper pot with tea cozy in a proper China cup. Husband had a cafeterier coffee also in a proper China cup. Cakes looked marvellous. Tea and coffee were both extremely hot , which was great on this chilly day. Yes the old building is quaint and interior is quirky but the food & drink are key in a teashop and we were not impressed. Sandwiches were nothing special for the price although the ham was good. The owner was hospitable and charming but the waitress hadn't a clue, unable to distinguish between the different cold drinks served and nearly dropping the teapot on me. OK, this was only one visit but I have been to better cafés in Pateley.

Walker and dog freindly on the high street. Entered the rooms and received a very welcome and friendly greeting. It was after 2pm on a sunday. We were given the menue and chose toasted sandwiches. I had tea with mine. Our dogs were given a bowl of water and we were asked if they would prefer a bowl each, I thought this was extreamly nice thought. The rooms were very interesing each room was different but lovely. The cup and saucer for the tea were bone china and the tea pot had a lovely hand knitted cosy on. The toasty I chose was ham and cheese in white bread. The bread was what I call proper bread not the normal supermarket bread. The ham was also realy tasty not the thin sliced type and was with salard and home made colselaw. Realy lovley and cosy. wouldnt mind going there in the winter when they have the fire burning.
