Swan Inn in South Gloucestershire

Food was really good and much needed after a very long day! As an interracial family, we're sometimes wary of village pubs, but the atmosphere was great and the service was very friendly. Definitely a good stop if you're near Bristol and in need good family food, reasonably priced somewhere warm! Would definitely come again if we're in the area.

There were 6 of us for lunch. Service was awful. Only after looking at the menu and ordering, were we informed that there were specific things unavailable on the menu. I ordered the steak ciabatta and was given an option of how I wanted it cooked. I asked for it rare and it came out well done - it was close to inedible. Other people’s food was bland and over cooked. Staff when delivering plates were rude, abrupt and clearly didn’t want to be there. They carried the hot plates with a dirty towel, dragging it over the table and other plates. After finishing our food, nobody cleared our plates. They were still there, 30 minutes later when we paid the bill. Will not be coming back.

Fantastic pub warm and cosy. Food was excellent and service was great. I would recommend to everyone I know and will be returning.

We for Sunday lunch last Sunday. The food was lovely. 2 of us had the lamb shank which was tender and the meat just fell off the bone and the gravy was lovely. The other 2 had gammon with 2 eggs which they said was very good. Then we finished with Eaton mess. The pub is in a lovely village and has a nice garden but needs a bit of tidying up out there ready for the summer.

What a fantastic evening the swan staff put on for us.36 of us all having different food.All I can say is everyone’s was truly delicious with not one complaint.The staff were excellent and from start to finish were so easy to deal with. Thank you once again for our amazing evening.will definitely be again for the next big occasion.

Very friend and helpful staff. Food was quick, I had hunters chicken which was very tasty. My daughter had nachos and chicken strips. So many nachos she took them home in a box. Lamb shank was tasty with plenty of vegetables. Blackberry and apple crumble with clotted cream ice cream was yummy too. Our dog was also welcome with water in the bar and a doggie ice cream. Highly recommend.

We booked this lovely pub for a family get-together. There were 8 of us over three generations. The menu was great, offering all of us lots of delicious options. There was lots of space but also a cosy, warm atmosphere, which was just what we wanted. The most impressive thing of all were the staff, all of whom were attentive, friendly and a cut above our usual pub experience. We’ll be recommending it to others - thanks for the great experience.

We went last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was good, but the service was poor. They did have a large Christmas party in which took priority to the pub. They are not geared up to hand both events. We did complain it next day , because we were pushed off our table! We had to order at the bar.

Stumbled across the Swan by chance - had a motorcycle breakdown up the road and they were kind enough to let me use their carpark whilst waiting for RAC to attend - thought I'd grab a bite to eat whilst I was there and it was out lightning fast, Server was polite and helpful, Bar Staff were friendly and the place has a great vibe to it. All in all - couldn't have picked a nicer place to be stranded for four hours!

I quote my daughter verbatim ‘That’s banging’ She was eating the gluten free prawn risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also had a gluten free chocolate fondant that she equally enjoyed

We visited with 3 friends from Staffordshire. The second visit with them this year, but the first Sunday. As they had enjoyed the previous visit we returned very happily. We had a variety of meals, and we were generally satisfied with our food. However as it was Sunday, two of our group had a traditional turkey roast, and it was, sadly, very ordinary. Not so bad it was worthy of a complaint, but by past standards, and compared ot a few pubs near to our home, it was under par for a Sundy lunch. The meat did not appear to have been carved off a turkey, but resembled sliced turkey from a supermarket pack. The vegetables were also rather bland. The other three meals were reasonable. I only make this point as the pub asked for feedback. However, it was a Sunday lunch - and the two traditional meals for the Sabbath fell below the standards of any other local pub we have visited this year - and the prices were around average. We paid £114 for 5 of us, one course plus drinks.

Excellent food. They were quite busy today so service felt slow but not too bad.

Organised a Xmas meal for 13 people. Gave us a separate room which was brilliant for our own atmosphere. Service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for this young group of workers. Polite and pleasant. Food was well cooked and very tasty. Definitely would recommend this establishment and a credit to the group. Well done everybody , we will definitely book again Bryan

called in early evening tonight to wait for traffic to die down. Order steak and chips twice. The meal was awful, steak was so poor, so tasteless, very fatty and chewy. Not medium, but almost rare. Obviously frozen product. Chips were tasteless and dry, bit of not so fresh looking salad, two onions rings (which was probably most edible item on dish. Service really not that good, didnt ask how meal was going, there was no care or concern. Very disappointing

Really disappointed Sunday roast. Although staff were friendly and service was quick we were very disappointed. We has lamb shank roasts and a turkey and beef duo roast, vegan pie with potatoes and veg. All of our dinners were luke warm. We had no sauces such as mint Cranberry or Horseradish. Cauliflower cheese was tasteless and beef rather fatty. The vegan pie ok but served with loads of boiled potatoes very dry and some were slightly green and broccoli again luke warm it looked bland and dry. We actually came home hungry ! We had a kids meal of sausage and Mash which was really hot !

Had a ladies who lunch with four friends, could not believe how busy the pub was but that did not impact on the service, friendliness, smiley staff and amazing food. All my friends enjoyed their meals so much we have booked the Christmas menu next month for our skittles team. So worth a visit, would highly recommend and all at at a very good price as well

The service was really good, the staff were friendly and offered personal suggestions as well. The atmosphere was perfect too with just the right amount of chatter to ratio with the quietness. However, the food was enjoyable but I ordered the King Prawn and Chorizo risotto and the prawns were left with the outer tail which put me off a bit. It also had an oily residue from the beginning. I wish it was without the tail as I would have enjoyed it more. Overrall good just would prefer these little mishaps to not be there.

A true beautiful local traditional pub with outstanding friendly staff! We will be back! I cannot recommend it enough.

Gammon was very tuff for my 90 year old Dad waitress asked if everything was OK I think she was surprised when my dad complained about his Gammon as she did not have anything to say in response

Woman at bar had a really bad attitude. Was rude. Chatting on the phone ignoring customers.sat at people table chatting leaving a large queue at the bar. When complain this man laugh and said she had a bad day a glass broke while she washed up. She had no cut hand. Told me they didn't have my order I must of dreamt it even though I had it before. I found what I wanted to eat no apology from her. If she is stressed shouldn't be at work. Needs a disaplinary warning . For attitude. Told to sit there as no room even though empty.

We visited this gorgeous pub recently when travelling south on route to Devon. My wife and I both had a delicious meal and the price was very reasonable. We were served by ‘Lovely’ the friendly, polite and extremely helpful waitress and we were even allowed to stay overnight in the car park in our Motorhome too. Looking forward to definitely visiting again sometime in the future and recommend to all.

We've almost always had great experiences here with great food and drink and lovely staff. The Sunday lunch, however, was pretty dire and surely overpriced. It left much to be desired.

Reliable gastro pub not far from m5 junction 16. Always a friendly welcome and good value food, speedy service in our experience. Recommended.

We had a lovely time, Gabi our server was very kind and helpful and our service was very quick, we had mains and dessert, both of which were excellent!

I had an overall good experience and was welcomed by a young lady called Gabi who had excellent manners. I would 100% recommend for a nice evening out.

Served by the lovely Thomas this evening, who was very attentive and polite and answered all our questions. Food delicious as always at the Swan, amid a very congenial atmosphere.

Wonderful service and great food

The risotto was very undercooked and the prawns didn’t seem to be “king prawn” as it stated on the menu. The pie was good but the chips were soggy and mushy. Very disappointing experience. The food and service didn’t worth the price.

Stopped in to break up a long drive. Staff friendly and quick to take our order. Food fairly priced, came out quickly and was lovely! Definitely recommend

Went with some friends and we had a lovely evening. Very welcoming, friendly staff and our waitress, Saffy, was brilliant. She was extremely attentive all evening and was working very hard in a full restaurant. Nothing was too much for her. The food was delicious with three empty plates!

All our dishes were more than satisfactory including fish and chips, vegan risotto, mushroom pie and dessert. Everything at an affordable price. Free parking available.

Despite booking a table well in advance, we has to wait an hour for our meal. Sadly, not a great meal either. A very hard and over cooked pie. The fish was also over cooked, having very dry flaky bits in . No one came to ask us if the meal was ok, or if we wanted to order more drinks, or wanted a dessert. Shame, I was treating a friend and it wasn't a great experience... Sadly, after paying over £50 for this disappointing food and a couple of drinks each, I won't be eating there again!

My wife and I came for lunch on Friday the 19th of July. We had a good experience, attentive service, nicely cooked and presented food in nice surroundings. The Swan has a nice sheltered garden when the weather's nice. We will definitely be coming back.

Nine of us went out for the evening. We submitted our menu choices beforehand. We all arrived and were met by very friendly and helpful staff members. We were in a side room which was perfect so we could hear each other without other noise or interruptions. We were joined by another party later who were fine so it worked perfectly. The food was very good and we were looked after very well.I am allergic to soya which posed no problem. I have eaten there several times and what is so good is that you are given a laptop you mark the allergen on it and then the entire menu appears with the dishes you can’t eat marked. It certainly beats having to choose several dishes in order of preference and then ask the poor person serving to go and ask the chef what is suitable.Mind you it was double checked on the night which was very kind , just an indication of how good the service is. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much thank you .

No attention for the guests, ordering via unclear app, outside tables very dirty, quality and preparation of the mixed grill very poor.

Was able to stop here for my nephew to use the loo, my dad went too with no fuss (just before 7pm on a Friday).

We called in here for a quick drink on the way back from a trip to Bridgewater. Great variety of beers and surprisingly busy for a Sunday evening.

Food was fine but the service was a bit slow. Sat for ages waiting to get the table cleared and order the sweets. When I went to pay there was no-one behind the bar and I had to wait 10 .mins for someone to appear. They took my money but never offered a receipt! A long time since I've been here and the staff used to be very friendly and efficient. My strawberry Eton mess sundae had no strawberries but blackcurrants in it instead!

Great food, great service by Georgia, and brilliant value. One of the few places to eat that are realistic, - not every meal I want to eat is a £50 pub gourmet disappointment, as served up by 'most' other pubs now. Squid rings were a disappointment,-5 the size of a 2p piece wasn't what I'd expect,but ate, drank, enjoyed, & came away happy with what I'd spent & looking forward to going back. Great range of beers aswell.

I was part of a group of 20. Our food was pre ordered and came to the tables hot and quickly once we were all seated. The quality of the meals were excellent. Staff very professional and polite. As a group we were so impressed we have booked to come again later this year.

Nice jolly pub with a "value" offering for us oldies. Really lovely tomato soup but the mash with the sausages was hard and seemed left over from another service. But for £9.99 for 2 courses one really can't complain.

Well after being disappointed at Christmas time we decided to give it a go for my wifes birthday (70) and yes it was excellent,we had dairy allergy, gluten free, vegetarian, the food was excellent ,staff excellent,thanks for a enjoyable afternoon,well done😀(12of us.)

I had a great experience at a pub with excellent service, friendly staff, and quick food delivery. The Hunters Chicken was delicious with its perfectly cooked chicken, smoky barbecue sauce, crispy bacon, and melted cheese. Highly recommended!

Ice pub in a very nice location. Good car park with plenty of room. A nice bar that is doggy friendly, most important! Nice selection of food that arrived well prepared and presented. Tasted lovely. Also a great selection of drinks. All served by friendly and welcoming staff. What more could you ask for

Booked for today with my wife and 2 friends for a late lunch. The food and service were excellent, however Coffees were far too strong by anyone's standards, and we asked for extra milk for our Americano coffees with hot milk, which did help. We were charged 50p for the extra milk which was very cheeky as it wasn't our fault that it was needed. We certainly will be back, but will leave the coffee well alone.

Place was very busy so it was understandable that we had to wait an hour for our food but it was Valentines day.

Georgia was a lovely server, the food was lovely and service time was great. Had a great time, cheap deals and good atmosphere.

The Swan was surprisingly busy for a wet Tuesday in February but that didn’t stop the staff being welcoming and the service timely. I find it increasingly difficult to find a pub that can serve a ‘proper’ pie, namely one fully encased in pastry. The swan has several to choose from. I don’t get out for lunch often but when I do I’m drawn to the Swan again.

First time at this pub in a very long time, and I was not disappointed. I chose it because it is a dog friendly establishment. The food was first rate, they sell two of my favourite real ale pints and the staff were really friendly.

Very good, it was a Friday lunchtime but the greeter met us with a smile and we were seated promptly. Good selection of draft beer. Excellent lamb shank (£16) and very good cod and chips (£13). All served promptly. Very tasty food.

We spotted this pub in the middle of the village as we drove through, so we stopped for a drink and what a pleasant place to go. It had the old village pub atmosphere, with friendly staff and we will definitely be coming back to have food. Great job.

What a lovely pub! Food was excellent and service was exceptional. Staff checked back at just the right times and were on hand without being intrusive. A rare find these days! Wonderful atmosphere too. A very enjoyable and pleasant evening. We will definitely be back!

We are both non drinkers but met for a catch up. Well I have to say this has to be the most expensive place for soft drinks. Crazy. Nearly as much as an alcoholic drink.

Waited over 1 and a half hours for food and starters turned up cold... The pub was over booked and understaffed...

We had a lovely lunch at this traditional pub and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We were only able to meet up with family here as the pub was dog-friendly and it was great to share the space with so many other well behaved pooches and not feel out of place. Food was great and we did not feel rushed to leave at any point. Will be returning again I'm sure.

Had a family meal last night ( table 21) in The Swan, the food was fabulous no complaints, we did appreciate that they were short staffed. The man doing the waiting was doing a brilliant job, he kept his cool. A really lovely evening. I had the vegan Kerralla curry which was really nice.
