Had an amazing Christmas Afternoon cream tea this afternoon. Staff where incredibly friendly and attentive and the tea room itself was warm and cozy, the perfect setting on a cold winters day. The cream tea itself was delicious with for too much to eat so the staff happily provided a doggy bag. My partner had the vegan cream tea and was mightly impressed at both the quality and the range of options available. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning throughout the year to try out the rest of the menu options available.

Very disappointed today, stopped for coffee, brunch , ordered a cheese scone, to my surprise it turned up with mould on one side. When I mentioned it , I felt like the attitude of the blonde lady on the till was not really acceptable. She took it away , and I asked her was it fresh she just said yes, what would have been more appropriate was a proper apology, and to say when they were cooked. It had also been microwaved within an inch of its life, along with my partner's bacon and egg roll. The pot of tea I had came complete with a sticky ,used spoon. Really unacceptable, also could not see any food hygiene ratings displayed. It's clear why they ask people to pay upfront now as I am sure this has happened before.

We were delighted to find this quaint tea room a short distance from Arundel town centre. Due to the heat we sat inside and enjoyed the view over the boating lake. They have a wide variety of food on their menu. The homemade Quiche was delicious, portions were generous as very reasonably priced. My husband loved his ploughman's too. We experienced a cheery friendly and efficient service so returned two days later for scampi and chips. We look forward to coming again when we are next on holiday in this area. I certainly recommend Swanbourne Lodge Tearooms, and regret I didn't have room for dessert as the cakes and scones looked amazing too!

Wonderful fresh scones with jam and clotted cream went down a treat with my fiancé and he raved about the freshness and just simple deliciousness of them! I was very impressed that they had a totally separate and extensive vegan menu, plant based milk for coffee etc. Very friendly, helpful and sweet waitress named Maddie was outstanding - 10/10 for service. Love this place and it's two perfect resident swans at the lake 💙 Keep up the good work and see you all again soon!

Fantastic little restaurant tucked away by Swanbourne lake. Don’t be put off by the word ‘Tea rooms’ as we have eaten here many times and this little gem has an extensive menu. Yesterday we stopped by for a delicious brunch. The staff were charming, coffee excellent and food outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and family oriented. Opposite us was a family of six and everyone found something to enjoy. You can sit inside or outside with a stunning view over the lake. Not to be missed.

We live locally and said to visiting relatives with small children let’s go to the lake and get a drink and an ice cream. It was very sad to see the lady who was working there completely on her own trying to greet people, take orders and clean tables. She was highly stressed, clearly very unhappy, snappy and overwhelmed. Please get more staff before this lady self combusts.

Waited outside to be let in after the tearoom was opened! Ladies could see us from kitchen, eventually someone from outside let us in. Prices are high. Pleasant lady who served us. We asked to use the toilet and had to pay. You need to leave the premises to use toilet and again a chain was up at the entrance we had to move it to get out. The bars on the turnstile allowed us 6 seconds to get through the massive gate. Be aware if you have children to push the gate or you will lose your money.

Lovely setting overlooking the lake, shame about the food. We had breakfast here this morning. Scrambled eggs on toast. Strangely presented on a plate too small to put the egg on the toast& served with a salad! The egg was cold & rubbery & the toast was hardly toasted. Coffee was nice. Lesson learnt we’ll not eat here again.

With a beautiful setting and after a walk around the lake, we decided here would be a nice place to stop for lunch and a coffee and cake. Mistake! The toilets were dirty with the typical outside feel of beach toilets and you had to pay 20p. Not ideal when you have little ones with you but the cafe will provide you with the 20p if you ask. We ordered our food which included scampi and chips and a child’s burger meal along with a panini. This with 3 drinks came to over £30 and the waitress asked for payment prior to the food arriving! The staff were quite rude to other customers although fairly accommodating to us. My husband looked through the sauces and was going to have tarter sauce but all of them were out of date. When the food came, it was certainly not the standard you would expect for the price we had paid, it was cheap, badly cooked and the scampi was potentially off as some of it tasted very odd. My sons burger looked revolting and the chips undercooked. The panini was basically a bit of crusty bread that had been cooked with some bacon in it. On the upside the salad and coleslaw was very fresh. We did not order the cake here as we were not prepared to pay ridiculous prices for watery coffee (my husband had one with his lunch) and a cake that judging by the rest of the place had probably been there over a week. Instead we walked into Arundel and went to the tearooms that I have visited previously for a trusty coffee and cake. Unfortunately we will not be visiting the tearooms at the lake again-a shame for such a beautiful location.

As we were visiting England we decided to visit Swanbourne as we have been seeing good comments on here and we are glad we did. Yesterday we came here and were overwhelmed with the respect we were shown and the politeness from the staff. As we were ordering, the lady behind the counter had a lot of patience and politeness with everyone who came in to the lodge. We received our meals very quickly and the lady came over and checked on us half way through which we found lovely. We noticed that she was having to serve people over at the ice cream shelter as well as serve people within the cafe and she maintained the respect and politeness to everyone. Today we came back and were happy to find that it was the same woman who remembered us and instantly made us feel very welcome. I fully recommend Swanbourne to anyone who is looking to relax.

Went today with a friend at the cafe to have some tea and was greeted by a very hostile lady behind the counter, who scowled at me, asking if I was expecting to eat, & when I replied that I only wanted some tea, she said that I would have to wait at least 10 minutes because there were a lot of people who needed serving. She wouldn't take my order or let me pay. Two teas would have taken her a minute to make while we waited & we could have carried our cups to our table. But it was not just what she said but how she said it. There was no apology, no smile, no attempt whatsoever to show herself to be apologetic for turning us away when all we wanted was a cup of tea.

Idyllically placed at the main entrance to the Swanbourne Lake area this is an ideal location for light refreshment after (for example) walking around the lake or viewing the wild life, mostly a rich variety of our feathered friends. On a decent day weather-wise sitting outside at one of the half dozen or so picnic tables is highly recommended. On the day of our visit the staff were friendly and you can order drinks or food at the counter or via the waitress (if that is not sexist language in this day and age!!). Although prices do not need to be more than they are the coffee and cake was good value. Everything was very hygienic and they even renewed the dogs water for us. Overall recommended.

We went inside to be greeted by a very pungent greasy smell and were served by a friendly waitress. I ordered the shandy beer which was on the menu but unfortunately wasn't available. I then ordered an ice cream off the menu but was pointed to the kiosk outside instead. I settled on a glass of apple juice which was poured from a carton into a 250ml glass and charged over £2. My brother had a J20. Whilst I was trying to pay another member of staff appeared and started talking next to my server to the customer behind, making it a rather difficult and awkward scenario of shouting over the other person in order to pay.

Manager thinks he's Gordon Ramsay. Barking orders at his clearly terrified teenage staff. Very uncomfortable to witness. Such a shame as this could be a great venue in a beautiful setting.

Have used this cafe twice. The first time we had a sandwich and a drink. it was ok but we waited about 20 minutes for the drinks to be brought out to the table. The second time with children we waited the same 20 minutes which was too long to wait for a drink. When the food came it was plentiful and very tasty. I don't understand why they don't let you take your own drinks at least then you have something to keep you occupied while you are waiting for your food. Its badly run with minimal supervision over the teenagers who work there. I do feel for the servers as they are trying their best. It does seem strange that you have to pay to use the toilets but so be it, we'd be waiting forever if they had to give tokens out for the toilets as well - it's only 20p for goodness sake - point to note - my grandchildren aged 10 and 11 and my slim wife of 45 all slid through the gate so didn't have to pay!!If the place gets too much for the owners then drop me a line I'm looking for a new business venture and this place has so many possibilities.

I went yesterday with my husband and two others. I ordered two coffees and two milkshakes. After waiting quite awhile the order arrived, my coffee cup was empty apart from two sachets of sugar! The chocolate milkshake was undrinkable! I went back and asked if they brought the coffee out and was told "no" I then showed them an empty coffee cup and they just said " for god's sake" no apology. I then said about the milkshake and got asked "what is wrong with it" I said it is undrinkable, after several shakes of her head she looked at the Crusha milkshake bottle and the carton of milk and from the look on her face and the way she moved them out of sight they were out of date!!. She said she would do another one and bring them out. After 15 minutes, my husband went and collected them. No apology given. What a disappointment. Would not recommend at all

Visited the lodge and lake can't understand why reviews are so bad! I had a lovely lunch, boat ride and fed the ducks. All staff were very helpful and nothing seemed to be to much trouble. For the quality of food prices were reasonable and food was well presented and very tasty. Bought an ice - cream from the hut and was very good quality. Will be returning soon!

I took my 4 year old grandson for breakfast this morning at Swanbourne Lodge in Swanbourne Lake. We arrived at 9.15 am and although the door was open we were told a few minutes later by a man that they did not open until 9.30am. I said okay and asked if I could possibly buy a .50p bag of duck food to give to my grandson to feed the ducks whilst we waited, but he refused saying the till wasn't ready!! At 9.30 we went back for our breakfast, the man was just coming out of the door and shut it behind him. He saw me and said I told you we are not open until 9.30, I said it is 9.30, to which he replied quite abruptly, well we are not open yet and we are not ready and walked off to sit outside with a young lady. I found his manner to be very offhand, abrupt and offensive and obviously he doesn't care at all about customer satisfaction - quite the opposite. He should not be advertising that he serves breakfasts and then refuses to open in time (although I would have thought that breakfast would start much earlier!!). He shouldn't be running a business, if that is how he treats his customers!!!

Stopped here after a morning out in Arundel. A great location so what a shame this place is so awful. Of course it doesn't matter, as it is a captive audience and I suppose does not rely on repeat business, but what a stinker of a place. On our visit today an order of two sandwiches and two cream teas turned into a fifty minute affair, where the order was taken by one of the twelve year old children who seemed to be working there. This one couldn't count and needed a calculator to add up 4.50 x 2, which was a disturbing indictment on local schooling... but she did seem to understand my wife asking for the cream teas to be brought at the same time as the sandwiches (so lunch wouldn't take too long). Twenty minutes later nothing had come. I asked whether we could at least have the 'tea' part of the cream tea. The waitress grunted acknowledgment and ten minutes later we had some tea. Meanwhile other people who came later were getting their food. No food for another ten minutes and another reminder from me. Then the sandwiches finally came which were standard 1980's stuff with some crisps on the side. Fine. Still no scones. Fifty minutes in I went up to the counter again and was told 'just coming' and 'give me a chance!', which was a novel way of saying sorry for the huge wait for what was supposed to be a quick lunch. The scones were plonked down. Stale and cold, fresh from the fridge or something. We left. A grown up out the front would have been nice. The place was dirty, tables not cleaned, plates stacked up. It wasn't that busy either, just no adults to tell the children what to do. I feel mean saying so, but that's the truth.

Called in to this tea room for lunch on way to a funeral after 3 hour drive. Lovely location. Pulled into the gravel entrance and parked next to another car. Ideal for my disabled husband. Ordered lunch which was served promptly and the food was quite good and value for money. However a couple of minutes into the meal was approached by a member of staff and told to move the car as the Duke of Norfolk would be furious! When mentioned that there was no sign to indicate no parking was told there was a sign on the gate. Had to leave the meal to park the car out on the public road which was very congested and took about 10 minutes. Checked the gates for the elusive sign. None there! Returned to my meal but had lost my appetite by then! Disabled husband then had to struggle back to car. Not impressed. Would have preferred to have been asked politely.

Pretty place that should be suitable for disabled, but no disabled parking at all despite space next to staff parking in the grounds, steps to access the tea rooms and only toilet is through a turnstile, completely unacceptable

Lovely place to visit. Great surroundings. Went for a walk around the lake then popped in for tea & coffee. Very busy so had a little wait but worth it. Servered buy a young blond girl polite and professional. Had breakfast here a few weeks ago would recommend that. Will go again anytime of the week. Please note hot food stops at 14.30 at weekends. (Shame).

Came here this afternoon, to get a couple of takeaway coffees, young girl with black hair served me was very rude, I hat to spend over £5 to pay by my debit card so I asked if there was any biscuits and she said no... But there was bird food she said I didn't want bird food!!I though I'd give it another go here as last time I came here I got a coffee and it was disgusting so I asked to change it and they refused to change it even though I was unhappy with it... Won't be coming here agin that's twice on both times I've had rude service.Young girl black hair needs her attitude changed before serving customers!!

Whilst lovely sitting outside with views of the lake, our visit was spoilt by the rude staff and awful cream tea. One girl in particular was extremely blunt and rude with everyone. When she finally bought our cream teas to our table by dumping the tray on the table (this seemed to be the general practice) we were very disappointed. The tea was luke warm, the scones seemed to be shop brought and the cream was double cream. We won't be returning.
