I ordered a take away through Deliveroo. The order was late by 40 minutes. I contacted Deliveroo to get a refund. Deliveroo contacted the restaurant so I couldn’t get my money back as the food was being delivered. Food came very late and asked driver to send it back as I was getting a refund. I got no food and raised complaint about both the restaurant and Deliveroo. Still no refund. Poor poor service from all.

We were seated outside on a rather cold day but the temperature was okay with the jacket. The large umbrellas cover everything which is useful but a bit of a drawback if the sunshine is trying to come through. Wines were expensive, so we just had two single glasses and ordered a choice of sushi. Service was good as was the atmosphere. The inside of the restaurant is very impressive with the decoration and extensive bar area. Not a cheap place but enjoyable for a special occasion.

Very bad service... My bf ordered the chef special (Tokyo beef with melted cheese rice). After he tried to eat the meal , his stomach had a bad reaction to it as he had to go to the bathroom. But when we confront the manager about this, he didn't apologise or even remedy the problem, all he did was remove the service charge which is an optional legal choice anyways. The worst part is that he said that my bf was strange for having a reaction to the food. My bf Isn't allergic to anything and never had any sort of reaction with beef or any of the ingredients b4. We came to sushi waka a lot of times b4, but after today's service, we’re not gonna come to eat at sushi waka again. Very very disappointed!

Food never got delivered. Was told it was a failed delivery attempt after knocking twice, no one knocked on the door or rang the bell, and never saw a just eat car/bike outside my house. Rang them 15 times and immediately said user busy, even tried to ring on other phones and it said the same. When finally getting through to them they refused to give a refund even though i did not receive the food I had ordered, and they changed there story from ‘they knocked twice’ to ‘couldn’t find the address’. Will never be ordering from here again and would advise others to stay clear. I will be opening a dispute on just eat.

Ordered delivery via deliveroo. Just two mains and some spring rolls. It confirmed immediately and then said this would be delivered by their own driver so there’s no tracking. The ETA was for about 45 mins after I placed the order. An hour after I placed the order I tried calling, to find that the phone number wouldn’t ring and would immediately say ‘user busy’. I tried 105 more times just pressing redial, which took me up to an hour and a half after ordering. That’s when I spoke to Deliveroo and they just offered to cancel it and refund - which is so infuriating when you’re so hungry and have waited this long for food?! Then we ordered a huge McDonald’s order. 2 hours and 20 minutes after I ordered the food, it showed up. 2 minutes after this my maccies showed up. I have no idea why they delivered the freezing cold food. And the delivery driver mumbled ‘sorry for your wait’ and walked off. Don’t bother ordering delivery.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM THIS PLACE! The delivery driver is very very rude, told me to AND I QUOTE ‘get off my fat ass and get my bloody food’ then left the bag of food on the floor outside my building. When I reported this to management they refused to give me the name of the driver and the manager also refused to give me his name so am unsure of who I was speaking to. The manager said he would call me back after speaking with the driver. When he did call me back he was laughing and said the driver never said that and its my word against his. There are also many other people that have had a problem with the driver if you look through the reviews on here and other sites but clearly they refuse to find someone else so it just shows the standards of customer service that Sushi Waka holds. Im absolutely appalled by the service.

I ordered from Sushi Waka on Deliveroo on the 3rd October. The driver did not ring the door (which the first time he claimed he did, and the second time he claimed he could not get out of the car because it was a main road). The driver also did not call my number and the restaurant did not reach out (my number is international, which is written on Deliveroo and which I told them repeatedly, but they probably still called the wrong number). My number on Deliveroo is correct (I checked) and has always worked in past orders. After reaching out to the restaurant myself I was told that the driver would come back. After waiting outside for 20 minutes and calling the restaurant multiple times, the restaurant called to say that the driver was outside (the restaurant had no issues reaching me, yet the employee blamed me for the driver's inability to dial the correct number). They told me where the driver was parked and I found him. The driver told me he did not know my number (the number that I told him was on Deliveroo), told me to f*ck off and showed me the middle finger. After almost running over my foot with his car he drove away without giving me the food. When I called and told them about the incident, the restaurant employee was entirely unhelpful and told me to sort it out with Deliveroo, but there is nothing that Deliveroo could do since the restaurant employs the driver directly. I emailed the restaurant about this and also received no reply.

Food arrived 30mins earlier than earliest expected time listed. Driver just turned around without phoning or even looking for me waiting outside. They then came back after I phoned the restaurant 60 mins later. I approached the car and the driver swore at me and told me to eat my sh*t and suck his d**k. Then drove off with an obscene gesture and swearing. Absolutely horrific.

I placed an order via deliveroo at 4:50pm. I was told my order will arrive at 5:50pm. At 6 pm I called the restaurant to ask when my order had left the restaurant so I knew when to expect it they were incredibly unhelpful and told me because I ordered through Deliveroo they did not know?! At 6:30 pm and we three extremely hungry children I called the restaurant again only to be told first of all they couldn’t tell me anything and had no idea if my order had even left the restaurant. When I demanded to speak to somebody in charge he then told me my order is on the left the restaurant at 6:20! At no point was I offered an apology for the lateness or an apology I have been misinformed twice prior. The man I spoke to was incredibly rude and completely unhelpful. As a family our favourite food is sushi and I have to say this is by far the most disgusting array of sushi I have ever had the displeasure of eating. We ordered several different hand rolls all of which tasted exactly the same. Anything with avocado came with something that can only be described as brown slime on the top where avocado should have been. The tuna sashimi was brown I suspect due to the fact it had been placed on top of our hot food and begun to cook and what is disgusting and tepid! This is not the first time I have had an issue with Sushi Waka but gave them a second chance and this will be our last!!!

Como grupo de 10, se nos pidió que escribiéramos nuestras propias bebidas en un papel en lugar de que la camarera tomara nota. El restaurante estaba moderadamente ocupado. After a busy morning with the boys shopping in Leeds Market we stopped off at Sushiwaka for lunch a place my wife had been pestering me to visit. They have a vast array of dishes to choose from, Bento boxes, noodles, soups and of course sushi al freshly prepared by the chef .So it was Sushi for the the family , went for a Katsu Curry. What can I say I really enjoyed it ,despite not particularly liking this end of Leeds due to the abundance of fast food kebab shops and run down looking buildings (Soon to change) . The food was great and no complaints on portions . My Katsu was really tasty with a wonderfully flavoured curry sauce (not just the typical cheap packet stuff) topped of with side bowl of Miso soup. There's a lot to choose from and to be honest a bit too much to choose from when you a teenager in tow who would eat everything off the menu. Definitely worth a return visit. The service was excellent but there were only a dozen or so people in on this Saturday lunch time so I'd like to come back on busy night an see how they get on.

At first I was sceptical because of the slightly tacky interior as I looked in. Then I sampled the food and I realised that I was having authentic Japanese dishes. The sirloin stick ise with egg rice is just wonderful. The sushi is handmade fresh as is the sashimi. The tempura is light and fluffy as it should be. The ramens are divine. Well travelled people will understand my perspective. Service is a bit slow but I pardon this as I saw the chef making my dishes from scratch. For me, Sushiwaka is my regular Saturday lunch place.

It genuinely makes me sad to have to write this review. I attended on Saturday evening with 3 friends, arriving about 6.45 before going to a gig round the corner which started at 8.30. No complaints with my food - it was lovely and came out at a reasonable time, however, my friends' food did not. We all sat staring at my rapidly cooling dinner until it was agreed I should start. It was a full 40 minutes later, more than an hour after ordering, before the next dish arrived. Staff appeared to be uninterested when asked where our food might be, advising that they were "busy" and that there was a big table. Even the bill arrived slowly, with an extra item that we had not ordered on it. We declined dessert as we did not want to spend the whole evening there, as it was we already were late for the start of the show. Definitely the slowest service I have ever witnessed.

First of all, there is a old chinese guy who's attitude is absolutely appalling. He acted like we owed him 50 million pounds and the service was just crap. Oh well, some other staff just cannot get the order right for some reason... i'll order one thing and they'll come out with another and insist on thats what i wanted.... or somehow the kitchen will "forgot to cook your food" Overall, some food are relatively decent, give a try if you have good patience.

Very relaxing atmosphere, no noisy in background and the staff are friendly and polite. The food we ordered was very tasty and authentic taste of real Japanese flavour, prices is good balance with the quality of the food we’ve ordered + big portion + very tasty, so that’s ok for us. Also what we like most is that the waiter are not rushing us to order the food — Be warning that they do have so much food menu choices but it didn’t come with full explanation, so it is best to select as much as food menus that you like, then ask the waiter if you’re not sure what the taste + textures like. I recommended this place as I had a pleasant experience from start to finish. We’ll be back!

I've visited Sushiwaka for several times, and the portions of sushi and sashimi have been less and less! This time was unexpectedly terrible! We ordered a sushi roll but waited for a long time, and then we were told that the roll was served to a wrong table by a fresh waitress. The waiter in charge said those customers ate them and it would take a while to get it because the cook was mad and anxious?!?! What excuse was that?! Then we still wanted the roll and the waiter said he would try his best not to be killed by the cook.... how 'funny' he was ridiculous.....

Mi novio y yo hemos estado yendo a este restaurante para al menos un par de años y empezó porque en el momento el restaurante tomó un descuento del 15% de tu factura si eran una reserva anticipada y como estudiantes que era un buen extra. Siempre hemos apreciado el sushi que, a pesar de no ser el mejor que he probado, está bastante bien. Sin embargo, las cosas han cambiado, para lo peor. . . . Fuimos hoy. y pedimos unos cuatro tipos de pan, ensalada y sashimi. Cuando el primer rodillo salió, no había de jengibre, que en caso de que no saber es un interludio que comer para refrescar su paladar y el buen gusto de conseguir el pescado. Pensando que se olvidaron, pregunté para algunos y la camarera me dijeron que si quería que debería haber pagado £0. 80! Me insistió en tener el jengibre como en cada restaurante cuenta con el sushi y es gratis, pero una vez más me dijeron que tenía que pagar por ello. Llegaron con otros tres rollos y, de nuevo, sin jengibre. Dada la pared de ladrillos me pareció anteriormente no se pregunte porque se negó a pagar por algo que debería ser incluido en el precio! Cuando pagamos la factura que dejamos que la camarera, sabemos que iba a ser la última vez que forma en que nos trataron, a pesar de ser clientes habituales. No hicieron ningún esfuerzo para intentar modificar la situación de espera de un intento tímido de culpar la falta de jengibre en la chef. No volveremos a este sitio: sushi bueno pero mal servicio, poco conocimiento de lo que están haciendo, lo que están sirviendo y por qué se sirve de esa forma.

The sushi was not of an excellent standard that we presumed it would be and also overpriced being compared to other independent sushi restaurants in the city. The customer service we received initially was nice, we were sat down by a young female and she presented herself with a smile and she explained the menu to us clearly. We ordered the sumo roll to share and two mains. The other staff did not have similar skills talking to customers however, they did do their job which was clearing the table efficiently. The sumo roll we shared was very nice and fresh.One main was tempura veg and some seafood with udon noodles and the other main was chicken katsu curry with rice. My partner had the tempura and noodles for the price wasn't very special. £9.90 for just noodles,soup and tempura wasn't worth the money. My chicken katsu rice was nice however, I can taste that they use normal curry you can receive from Chinese takeaways which cheapened the experience. My partner had green tea which was pleasant and I had a bowl of miso soup which was nice again. Overall, I would only come back to sushiwaka for the rolls.

We just walked in at 22:10 on a Thursday night, looking forward to food (we've eaten before the food is good despite appearances) to be told 'oh I'm sorry the thing is the kitchen has started cleaning down). It says online that it shuts at 23:00 you should not be shutting business early and if you are maybe change your opening times. When I mentioned it was ridiculous to say that when they're open till 2300 the lady stumbled a bit and said well maybe I can check... but I've already decided what's the point we will probably be told half the menus off because the kitchen is cleaning down.

I went to the one in York but it is not on trip advisor, I wonder why. Service was not the greatest but we thought the food was fantastic! The white white came out in a Luke warm bottle so my partner asked for ice for her drink. Aside from that the wasabi and the pickled ginger was the only other things she ate which I didn't, but she was violently sick all throughout the following night!

Fancy sushi tonight? Sushiwaka is the place to go. We decided to explore the excellent and varied menu and were not disappointed. Here are a few of our favourites: Seared Salmon: 10 pieces of succulent seared salmon, my favourite. A must for any sushi newb and expert alike. Spicy tuna: just the right amount of spice to compliment the fresh tuna. Tempura (veg): light crispy batter, best I've eaten in ages. Dumplings (gyoza): flavourful and juicy. An all round solid dumping. When in doubt go for the salmon nigiri. This is a very reasonably priced sushi joint for the quality. The atmosphere is okay but nothing to shout about however service is timely andwell mannered. I left on a sushi high and I will be back.

Sought here out as looking for great Japanese food. Despite website showing open close times they were happy to take orders after we were seated @ 2.30 pm. In total 2 dishes were great : Wakame salad & udon & wakame. Expensive place though. The green salad is an embarrassment to any chef. If you can do it @ home don't pay without cheffy input (see photo) price ridiculous £2.90 for base cost 10 p to restaurant. Mackerel was equally £3.90 for a smidgeon. Really really. Staff were brilliant which made complaining less attractive. No dish was SO memorable that we'd seek here out again. Shame as menu more inviting than it's execution.

I have eaten here nearly 10 times but somehow only just getting around to writing a review! It's our go-to sushi place in Leeds because everything is always fresh and the flavours are delicious. They usually have an offer on for lunch but the value for money is great anyway. The staff are friendly and service is generally good, sometimes it takes a bit longer than we would like to get someone's attention but it is still always perfectly acceptable service.In particular the sushi rolls are delicious and the bento boxes and ramen bowls are huge. Have tried and enjoyed the donburi and the noodle dishes, as well as a few of the starters. Have not had anything that disappointed and will, of course, be returning.
