Suriya's Thai Kitchen in Brighton and Hove

Our favourite local restaurant. Customer since before lockdown. Try to visit as often as we can, and always take our visitors when they come to visit.

Again very disappointed with both the quality of ingredients and the taste from my second local Thai restaurant. Even the papaya salad was poor. I don't understand the reviews at all. Do not gel with experience of taste.

Fantastic authentic Thai food & lovely service. Have visited Brighton a few times & always visit this lovely restaurant.

Probably the worst Thai Takeaway I've ever had. Honestly so sad about the food we received today. I have had food here before and the quality and flavor was so good in memory that I decided to order whilst on a work trip in Brighton... Unfortunately everything we received was bland, like no flavor at all. Very bland beef salad was low qual, wet coating on the bland wing "zap" chicken, and the pad kee mao was just not a pad kee mao. Also can't recommend the mixed starter at all. Can't recommend it at all. Thai food like this destroys the reputation of Thai food. Very disappointed with the money.

There are far better Thai restaurants than this. I've tried tastier Thai food in other places and this was a disappointment. The beef was quite chewy and the service was poor.

Absolutely fantastic place! A super friendly welcome, followed by attentive and engaging service and wonderful food. Definitely recommend. I had the green curry and its probably the best I’ve ever had. Very good portion.

A really welcoming, comfortable atmosphere with the friendliest staff and excellent quality food! Lots of options for veggies and vegans- the pad Thai was so classic and satisfying. Lovely for a date night or even solo dining.

I came here for my birthday as I had searched best Thai in Brighton and this was top of the list. My meal was tasty, but the tofu was quite hard as it was overly fried. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

wanted to try here for a while as it looks very cute and welcoming from the outside, really great! starters were delicious and the fish dish i had was perfect, sweet and sour sauce was out of this world. very friendly attentive service, amazing!!

Food visually appealing with zero taste. Staff told us that vegan customers have complained so much that they have removed fish sauce from their cuisine. Basically taking a fundamental element out of Thai cuisine. I find this appalling that a menu can by hijacked in such a way. Awful.

the service was very fast, my food came out within minutes and it was delicious! i had the red curry with pork and jasmine rice and i would definitely recommend. the place was well decorated which created nice atmosphere as well.

Out with friends the other night and once again the food was just amazing . Great service as always and incredible value . The best pork skewers i have ever had in the UK and as good as the best in Thailand where i have beem many , many times . Off again end of the week too.

One of the best Thai places - neigh! - one of the best places I have ever eaten at!

Thanks to the TripAdvisor reviews we booked a table upstairs, which is small but cosy. From the friendly welcome the service was superb throughout and the food was absolutely excellent. We chose the mussels and fishcakes to start followed by a papaya salad, chilli prawn stir fry and a dry prawn curry. All the dishes were delicious and the bill, including a beer, glass of wine, a large bottle of sparkling water and service, was £68. We will definitely return.

Arrived Brighton very late at night and didn’t know where to eat. So as soon as we saw a Thai cuisine restaurant, we were overjoyed! The place is not big but very cosy with warming welcome from the nicest Thai lady I met for a long time. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had Thai spice chicken wings and a Tom yum with prawns for starters. For mains, we had a green curry with chicken sided with jasmine rice and a broccoli with mixed veg. For dessert, we had a banana pudding cooked with coconut milk with a sprinkle of sesame seed and dedicated coconut. I didn’t expect it was hot but it’s sweetly delicious. Recommended if you are staying in Brighton!

We had dinner here for the first time last night and the food was excellent. Starters and mains were vegetarian. So fresh and delicious. They also stock non alcoholic beers as well as a good choice of alcoholic drinks. Service and friendliness of staff was outstanding and I will certainly recommend and return.

Loved it. Since moving from Hove to Brighton several years ago, and moving away from Unithai in hove, I have been searching for a new go to Thai restaurant. Will caveat this with the fact I have only been once but Supriya's Thai kitchen is the best Thai I have been to in Brighton. It is more affordable than most in Brighton but the food is A* compared to B- at best in the more expensive Thai restaurants. The service is great and the restaurant is a really pleasant place to be in for a meal. It is a little out of Brighton centre but well worth the walk to. I am already planning another trip to try something different on the menu (first trip I had fish in lava, Tilapia on red curry sauce and veggie dumplings)

It is hard to overstate how lucky we are to Soriya Thai in Kemptown, the quality, the freshness, the authenticity, the value and the wonderful unassuming service . Fans from the start, never disappointed we were reminded just how great everything is here when our visitors insisted on checking the bill twice incredulous that it could be so little for what we had experienced. The pork skewers are as good as any I have had in Thailand and better than most .

This is a hidden gem of a Thai restaurant in Brighton. Not in the city centre but well worth the journey to East Kemptown which is close to the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Best bus is the number 7 which stops just after the hospital and then it’s a 5 minute walk to the restaurant. It’s a small place and booking is recommended at peak times but it is well worth the journey. The best service - friendly and truly professional. A family business dedicated in looking after its customers. What really impressed me was the variety of Thai dishes. The menu had grills and steamed dishes that I have never seen in Brighton before. Usually it is noodles, and a few curries but the selection here is incredible and so excellently cooked. Loved the Papaya salad. The marinated chicken was not spicy. It is their signature dish and highly recommended. They also do take away. It is licensed with very reasonably priced wines and Thai beer as well as a selection of stronger alcohol. If you are prepared to walk or get a bus or taxi to this gem, you will not be disappointed. Equally important is the lovely ambience. Truly relaxing experience. Highly recommended!

We got the Volcano Chicken, Pad Thai with Beef and Green chicken with Tofu and veg. All the dishes were really good and reasonably priced packing many layers of flavour. I recommend you dont get the beef with the pad thai as it had a slight tinge of smell to it.

This was a lovely find. Outwardly didn't look anything special - a very small restaurant tucked away in a Kemptown side street. However the food and service was very impressive with generous portions at a great value. The massaman was tasty and filling - would recommend a portion of the ribs to share - the meat was so tender and tasty. Will definitely return next time I visit Brighton

We visited here last week whilst on holiday and I have to say it was the best find. The staff were amazing, really friendly, super helpful and full of great recommendations. The food was top notch! Everything was absolutely amazing! We would highly recommend this restaurant!

Lovely service - attentive, a bit camp and wooly delightful. We had starters, too glasses of wine and two of coke. Including tip £50. Great all round

I've been to Suriya's several times to eat in and had many takeaway and they have all been delicious. Very friendly staff make it well worth a visit.

The food really is lovely, as are the people who run the restaurant. My only criticism is that when I asked if the curry came with rice the answer was no. To have to pay £3.50 extra for a small bowl of sticky rice is just annoying and unnecessary. It cost over £90 for four of us to share two portions spring roll starters between us and a main each, plus a bottle of house wine and one beer. It’s not cheap.

A humble small looking restaurant that actually has a basement seating area, the staff are super friendly and welcoming, I came from London for work and by luck found this restaurant. I had the recommended squid starter and pad Thai as a main. The food was delicious and portions were generously perfect. The prices are fair and the quality was very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and come again.

We ordered a take away from here after reading all the 5 star reviews. I'm sorry but, as far as we are concerned, the food was below average. The "mixed starters" were soggy and very greasy, not crispy at all. Nothing about the noodle dishes (one duck and one vegetable) was fresh. Very disappointed to say the least.

We went for an unplanned dinner on a week day and we were so pleasantly surprised!!! Thai cuisine is one of our favourites and we have had it in many different countries besides Thailand and this makes our top 3 restaurants for sure. We love Tom yum but it’s not easy to please us as we are really fussy; however, theirs was one of the best we have had, sour and spicy to perfection. We had a mix of curries and stir fries and everything was delicious. My daughter is a pain and always complain about everything, especially her food but this time no complaints at all!!! The best part of our experience however, was their customer service, everyone soo lovely and accommodating. Nothing was too much, from when we called to book to the moment we left. It definitely deserves a visit and we will definitely be back!!! I have to say it is one of the very few Thai restaurants out of Thailand that really make you feel like you are In Thailand, the food so authentic, the service so perfect and even their plates and the menu look like the ones you get when you eat in a small restaurant in Thailand. There is nothing not to like about this place.

Pre Covid we were regulars as it is without the best proper Thai food in Brighton. Fabulous staff . During Covid we had fantastic take aways . Actually went last night - Ya just back from Thailand- it was just fantastic- still the best Pork skewers in the land & all of the dishes were so good .

Food and presentation was beautiful and very tasty

Absolutely beautiful food and incredibly freindly staff. All the food was packed full of flavour, beautifully presented. The beef, chicken, prawn and fish we had was of very high quality, and infused with brilliant flavours. Even the spring rolls, dumpling and rice cracker starters were of unusually good quality. Quite easily the best Thai food I've had. Lovely cozy atmosphere to the restaurant as well. Very impressed, will certainly be a regular here, if you want Thai food, this is what you're looking for.

Very poor on flavour , presented well and staff nice. Tom yum and Tom kha extremely lacking. Just liquid ,few mushrooms and a couple chilli's . Chicken penang curry Meant to be spicy , there was zero kick to it . Fried vegetable dumplings also flat on the flavour side . They were quick to deliver which was a bonus , so if you are so hungry you don't care about flavour then it's a good shout . Won't be back sorry .

Went there on a Friday night. We was in the basement as was busy. Only a little place , but was made to fill welcome with very friendly staff. Food was amazing, speedy service. Would defently recommend.

We had left it a bit late to eat, but this gorgeous little restaurant accommodated us and served the most delicious Thai food we have ever tasted. Would highly recommend it.

Lovely welcome on arrival, reserved table waiting (even though we'd only phoned five mins before after a dismal failure at to get served the Busby & Wilds pub). We really enjoyed the food, the portions were generous and the staff could not have been better. It was very busy but the service was excellent. Very good value too. Definately recommended, we will become regulars here.

Popular local Thai restaurant with very friendly service. The portions here are generous and prices are still low which is a bonus. In terms of taste however it was rather bland in my opinion that’s why had to take a star off. All dishes lack a bit of a kick but still enjoyable.

The best food I've had in years, simply out of this world. Sensational.

Cannot rate this place high enough for authentic and delicious Thai food. My friends don’t have much experience with this type of cuisine and so I ordered a mixture for all to sample and everyone agreed it was a fantastic meal!

Dead pleased to have this as my local Thai place. Food hates the spot every time, staff are lovely and friendly, good value for money, I have zero issues. Highly recommended!
