If you want the best authentic ramen in the southeast of England, walk past this place… and go somewhere else! Because if you’re naive enough to even consider another option, you don’t deserve Goemon.

I had the thick noodle chicken ramen it came with 3 dry slices of chicken and noodles with half an egg and some bamboo . Very disappointing and for the price it was very small even tho I ordered large size . The appetisers we had inc Kimchi and fried octopus they were also very small for price and they where nothing special it was just basic over priced food . Very very dissapointed and I'm still very hungry 😕.

No es un lugar enormemente grande (aunque resultó ser en demasiado pisos, así que no demasiado pequeño) y llegué 20 minutos más o menos antes de abrir para que pudiéramos estar seguros de ser servidos antes de la próxima actividad de un fin de semana familiar ocupado en Brighton. Los carnívoros y las verduras en la fiesta fueron atendidos de manera excelente. La gama era muy buena - algunos de nosotros fuimos por un solo plato grande, mientras que el resto fue por algunos artículos más pequeños tapas - estilo. La mujer que nos atendió era súper eficiente, y todo llegó muy pronto. Sin excepción, los platos eran excelentes - de hecho, había un plato de pollo increíble que me hubiera sentado felizmente masticando toda la tarde. En general tuvimos una excelente experiencia, y volveré de nuevo la próxima vez que estemos en Brighton.

Amazing place, absolutely loved it! Great service and the food was served quickly. The broth was delicious and would recommend getting an extra egg, it has a sweet touch to it. The fried pork tasted really good as well. The staff speak Japanese.

We were seated in the front room (there is one in the back that I didn't see). We ordered a bao pork that was delicious, a tsukemen with thick wheat noodles that was also very tasty and a spicy tonkotsu that has thin noodles. I asked them to substitute the minced pork for chashu. I would have liked the broth to have a little more salt, but it was still tasty. The place is small, with an open kitchen at the front. (Nov 2024) Edit: Today we went back and I tried the miso ramen, the chicken was tender and the broth tasted great. This time we sat on the 1⁰ floor and I noticed that the toilets are not accessible to people with reduced mobility because of the narrow and steep stairs.

Fantastic food, easily the best ramen I've had so far in the UK. It can get very busy in the weekend, expect long queues outside on a sunny Saturday. Worth the wait though.

A truly authentic place: after actually being in Japan, I can confidently say that their ramen is truly Japanese!!!! An extraordinary dish, made with original miso and homemade pasta. Young, friendly…and Japanese staff!! Super recommended.

In Brighton for the day and searched out what the internet told me was the best local ramen. Had the Tokyo Tonkotsu and I was not disappointed. The broth was rich and moreish. Lovely atmosphere with great Japanese city pop tunes played and great service.

Best gyoza I've ever had. Literally salivating just thinking about them now. Fuss free excellent food and genuinely happy to serve you. 6 X stars. X

Goemon Ramen Bar is a cozy spot in Brighton. The ramen was warm and filling, but not quite the best I've had. The broth was flavorful, but it could have been richer. The noodles were cooked well, and the toppings were fresh. The takoyaki was nice—crispy outside and soft inside, with a savory taste that I enjoyed. Overall, it's a decent place for a casual meal with friendly service.

We went as a group of three on a Sunday and (as expected) it was pretty busy. After a short wait the welcoming staff directed us to our table. We ordered Tokyo Tonkotsu ramen, Chicken Shoyu ramen and crispy Karaage Chicken. They were all SOO good and came very quickly!! 😋I would definitely recommend you go to this place, the atmosphere was so cozy and the food was AMAZING 😍

All dishes are delicious with my personal favorite being the pork broth!! Value for money so highly recommended it! Upstairs seating area available to enjoy the view of the north lanes :)

Great ramen, best you can find in Brighton. Have been going for years and never had an issue with quality or service.

The staff's attitude was unprofessional and unfriendly, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. They have a complete party policy, but they didn’t inform us properly—just told us to wait outside, leaving us to assume there were no available seats. After we explained that our friend wouldn’t be joining, the staff rudely repeated several times, 'We won’t serve either to you or to your friend if they come.' What kind of attitude is that? The ramen was okay, but the poor service overshadowed the experience.

My partner and I had the extreme displeasure of stepping into this "restaurant" and what followed was a dining experience so horrendous that it borders on a crime. The ramen they serve me was an utter disgrace—flavourless, poorly made, and frankly an insult to food. I’ve worked in ramen kitchens before, so I know how it’s supposed to taste, and this was nothing short of culinary incompetence. When I asked, very politely and reasonably, for a replacement dish, the chef—whose arrogance was only matched by their lack of skill—flat-out refused and insisted that I pay for another dish. The audacity. I’ve never seen such a blatant disregard for basic customer service or culinary standards. This place doesn’t deserve your money, your time, or even a second thought. It’s easily the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. 1*

Perhaps my favourite casual restaurant. Cheap and very cheerful, fast and friendly service, authentic food, diverse menu, and some of the best tonkotsu I have had that wasn't actually in Japan. I will say though, if you want to have a long dinner/lunch, this isn't the place. they sort of want you out quickly after you've eaten so they can fill your table (which as far as I understand is the custom in japan) Tokyo tonkotsu is amazing, and the octopus/chicken karaage and takoyaki are both far above average.

One of the best overall dining experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were so so friendly and the ramen was just spot on! There was a queue when we got there but we didn’t have to wait long however there was a big queue when we left so definitely worth getting there early if you don’t want to wait long! We got there at 6 on a Tuesday so imagine it being busy on weekend! Highly recommend!

Only had 20 mins to spare but managed to get one of the best ramens of my life! Really good quality and a small size was big enough for me. I had the spicy pork tonkotsu

From the previous reviews, I was expecting the food to be fantastic. The crispy chicken Kara-Age and Octopus Kara-Age were really nice as appetisers, but the ramen was such a let down. We were given two VERY thin slices of pork belly (double the thickness of a parma ham slice) each for close to £13 each. There wasn’t much more to the soup to justify such a tiny serving of meat for that price. The thin wheat noodles tasted like undercooked instant noodles & they’re more bloating than egg or rice noodles. The broth was rich but lacking; perhaps more creamy/fatty than flavourful. I couldn’t finish the broth, as I usually would if it’s delicious. The meal cost £45, with two soft drinks, so it’s definitely not cheap. Neither myself or my partner felt satisfied, so we won’t return.

This spot has it all. The food is phenomenal! Good portions and good price. We had the crispy chicken karaage, which was super fresh and crispy, also had we had some deep fried octopus pancake ball things and it was like nothing we have ever had before! Very tasty! The shrimp gyozas were really delicious and fresh. For mains we had a soy sauce based chicken ramen bowl which also had an egg in it along with other stuff. The broth was incredible and the chicken was nice succulent too. Staff were friendly and kind, super smiley. The tables are close together but that's really not a problem because of the nice music and great atmosphere. 10/10 can't wait to come again.

The food is OK, but the service attitude makes people feel uncomfortable. Maybe the needs and feelings of the guests are not important to them. I can't say Yes to their service attitude, the food is fine. We are not walking wallets, we are customers, maybe they do not care about our feeling.

Ramen was delicious. One of the best Japanese food you can get in Brighton. Not expensive and a lot to choose from. Definitely one you have to repeat to try the different dishes they have.

The food was fantastic I do recommend the ramen dishes especially- the broth is very rich. I do believe however that a certain waitress had a rather miserable demeanour and did take from my overall experience. Perhaps she should pursue another career?

Genuinely delicious and perfectly cooked food. Karaage and gyozas were tasty and juicy. The pork bone broth is the best I've had in the UK. Fantastic!

I’ve been to Brighton twice but been here 3 times. Their ramen is really good. I’m veggie so there’re only about 3 veggie/vegan ramen options. The food has always been served warm, the noodles are chewy and nicely cooked. The broth itself is so comforting. I couldn’t recommend enough.

I finally tried Goemon and I wish I had gone sooner. Delicious ramen. I popped in for a quick lunch on my break and had some sake with my spicy tonkotsu. Lady who took care of me was kind and attentive. My ramen was accidentally put through as a medium instead of small but they gave it to me on the house. So nourishing. Feels like a warm hug. I would definitely recommend it.

Have come here multiple times now, especially as one of my friends loves it so much the waiters already know their order. Again a really delicious Asian food restaurant 😋 the ramen is wonderful here. Reasonably priced. As you can see in the photo about 9 of us came to eat and they served us really well and efficiently, we're kind to us and we didn't book in advance. We just turned up. They were very attentive. Orders were all right and everyone was very happy.

There are so many people that you have to queue up for a table, and the meals are all good and the vegetarian options are clearly marked.

This was the BEST ramen I have ever eaten, so rich in flavour. I’ve also tried their green tea flavour ice cream that wasn’t on the menu, and it was the yummiest dessert I had. Totally recommend this place. It can get busy, but worth the wait in the queue. Service was very friendly and fast. I was so sad to learn that they close early on Sundays!

Clean place, good location in the Laines. Very warm and welcoming staff. Fast and efficient service. I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen which came with a rich and spicy broth and minced spicy pork. It was delicious and I even drank all the broth. Highly recommended.

We had tan tan men, miso ramen, chicken gyoza 🥟. Everything was so good and authentic Japanese food 🍲 And they don’t take service charge!! Staffs and services were so good I think customers would be happy even they gonna take service charge. Affordable and high quality!

This place has been recommended to me by my Japanese friend. Each time when I’m visiting Brighton, I am keen to stop by for a delicious ramen and takoyaki😊 They moved from the corner next to the coastline to the city centre, which is closer to the train station. It was a bit challenging to find a new spot first time🤦🏻‍♀️ A really nice change in terms of the place, more spacious and vibrant! I wish you had a take away option👀

Japanese ramen is relatively cost-effective in Europe. Although it is still different from the authentic ramen eaten in Japan, it tastes good, the hot sauce is excellent, the soup base is rich, and there is no compulsory tip and water is included.

Went with my Japanese friend, she said it's the same as what they have in Japan! The portion sizes are really good so is the price point. I tried octopus for the first time and it was honestly amazing. Super fast service too. Definitely gonna come back.

Lovely authentic ramen bar, Japanese fried chicken starter was thigh meat so succulent and juicy. Ramen was delicious with lots of toppings. Broth was rich. The whole family were happy and would come again.

Had the vegan Tantanmen Ramen, which was very tasty but also spicy. Can highly recommend! The service was also quick. 6 minutes after entering the restaurant I already had my food. Unfortunately there are few seats, so it's best to get there before the store opens.

Came here after work. Was super hungry and happy to pick up some Ramen. Waited approx 10 mins to be seated and was ready to order. One more person was joining us and we made this clear to the staff. When he arrived they told him they were shut, even though we had already sat down and we hadn't even ordered yet. Very frustrating and makes no sense. We had to get up and leave... Have to give 1 star because of this. If you would like to offer me some kind of discount to come and eat again I would consider changing my review. Very good service, quick food and very tasty. Has all the components needed for a good bowl of ramen. Especially for a small size the portion was excellent. I would definitely declined to anyone passing by

The staff are great, knowledgeable and helpful. The quality of ramen would be 3.5 out of 5 if this ramen shop was in Japan. Quick note, the big portion ramen is actually the standard size ramen. The small size is only half of the big portion. They dont take bookings, you will have to wait in line during peak time. My overall experience is very good, I enjoyed my ramen. I would recommend this place.

They serve good food but it's not a place where you can share stories with your friends because we felt like we were rushed to leave the place right away after eating.

Nice cosy space, really friendly and welcoming staff. Ordered the small Tokyo Tonkotsu and it was amazing, a good portion (about hand sized bowl compared to a bowl as big as your face for the larger portion!) Food came fast and all round was a great experience!

I highly recommend the delectable ramen and gyoza. They are truly exceptional and should not be missed.
