Sunnys Cafe in Scarborough

Called in here on a Saturday morning it was very warm in there and had condensation running down the windows. The lady who served us refused a very simple request that other cafes have obliged us with. The food was of very poor quality especially the sausages they were awful and the rest of it wasn’t much better, sorry but we won’t be returning.

Looking forward to trying a meal here, as the place looked nice, however the member of staff who begrudgingly attempted to serve me was extremely rude. I was pleasant and polite to her. Manners and politeness cost nothing.

I had a build your own breakfast, and it was the best breakfast I have ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked, everywhere spotlessly clean and staff really polite, friendly and helpful. It's very cheap also, especially considering how good the food and service is. The only downside is it gets very busy, because it's so good. 🤗 I really look forward to going there 😺

Excellent cafe, lovely food at great prices. I like how they have games on the tables, like connect 4, snakes and ladders, little chalk boards etc. Ive never seen this before and I think it’s a great idea to keep the little ones occupied or even play as a family.

not much to say women behind counter rude and obnoxious. And sausages wouldn't give to my dog don't waste your money on such an awful place loads better in town.

This is the second time we have been to Scarborough for a holiday and the one place we most looked forward to returning to was Sunnys! We refuse to have breakfast anywhere else when in Scarborough. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty and the staff always welcoming. Would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Scarborough to support this local business as we would be devastated if we ever visited and this place had gone. An absolute gem of a cafe and very highly recommended by my family!

Called in for a breakfast with my disabled wife & assistance dog, but were promptly kicked out as they don't allow dogs even ASSISTANCE DOGS which the last time I checked was AGAINST THE LAW- so if your disabled ' DONT BOTHER AS YOU WONT GET IN!

Had a great brekkie at Sunnys cafe yesterday, have been before and really enjoyed it and so we returned. Situated across the road from Matalan in Scarborough. Clean, bright and welcoming cafe. Very popular and busy with decent prices. Pleasant and efficient staff. Worth a visit.

We visited this cafe for lunch, and were so pleased we returned for a breakfast. Boasting a 4.5 trip advisor rating we entered a very busy cafe to be met with a very curt lady .We ordered teas with the steak pie and veg dinners. Excellent, a plate of mash, carrots, and cabbage surrounded the delicious homemade steak pie with piping hot gravy. Whilst we were there, I witness real customer service in action. The "curt" lady took the time to help dress an elderly customer in her coat and scarf, presented her walking frame and accompanied her to the door, with a cheery goodbye. We signed off the holiday with a "supreme" cooked breakfast which my wife could not finish. Whilst the produce quality of sausage/bread was economy standard, the bacon, egg, beans, mushrooms and black pudding were delicious. The price ...WOW £7 odd for each meal (teas extra). The cutlery, tables etc were clean the decor was pleasant...and a free toilet. If you"re working to a budget, this is a "must" visit. We regularly eat out and often get overcharged for very average food. This is wholesome and you won"t leave hungry/disappointed/overcharged. Some reviewers have taken a dim view of the owners curt customer skills...personally I want a good meal and not too fussy about the small talk!

Called in for breakfast, had a small one with a few extras with a hot chocolate. Lovely and hot, very tasty and will definitely call again and recommend to others. Staff were very nice too

So we popped in Sunnys today to dodge the rain. I'm very pleased we did. Although we only had a coffee each, we could not fault the service. Served quickly and efficiently with a smile. Very clean throughout. Each table had a selection of games you could play - we played the Connect 4 game! Although we didn't have food, there were plenty of others that did, and the portions looked very generous, and there wasn't a scrap of food left on any plate. I'd say that is a good indicator!

Overrated - the reviews rating it make no sense - yes it was £6.20 for an English brekkie and a mug of tea but the quality was poor - catering sausages worse than Richmond's - tinned tomatoes, and low grade sliced white bread - you could get the same from any greasy spoon or transport cafe up and down the country - couldn't prove it but I doubt even the egg was free range - looking at the clentle in there it was no suprise - old adage about Yorkshire born springs to mind.

Good quality food at a really good price. Set breakfast was good. The omelette was huge ! Along with 2 gluten free hash browns and beans. Shame they don't have any gluten free bread in the freezer, for when requested. Clean and tidy. Would go back.

Wow the food the staff are fabulous. I mistakenly went for the mega breakfast far too big for me. I wasted so much food. We will be back on our next visit Photo minus 2 slices of toast

Found this place from online reviews. Wow what a little gem this place is! Greeted with a very warm hello, polite happy staff. Myself & husband are in our 50's & chose a table that had a snakes & ladders sticker on it, ( there was also uno cards, & a chalk board at the table) so we decided to have a game :) Our breakfast arrived very promptly so we were alittle frustrated we had to pause our game lol Omg was our breakfast yummy, well proportioned & cooked beautifully & very reasonably priced too. On departure, after we finished our game! We were then given a thank you and please enjoy your day. I feel politeness like that definitely goes a long way.

A great little cafe in the town centre. Really good breakfasts at an excellent price. The cafe is spotlessly clean and the food is great. Well worth a visit.

This was my first visit to this cafe and will probably be my last. I agree with previous reviews that customers are not made to feel welcome at all. Service with a smile is most certainly lacking here. I ordered breakfast & coffee. The coffee was so weak as to be unrecognisable. Breakfast was of a reasonable standard for the price charged.

Woman serving taking our order was very rude basically shouting across the room at me in front of other customers because I asked for my bacon to be well done .she needs to learn some customer service skill before she loses other customers , she'd be great in Karen's diner . We walked out and would never use the place again

I have been to this cafe several times over the years and have never found anything to complain about until today. Went to the counter to order steak pie and a pot of tea. The woman behind the counter was extremely curt and dismissive, bordering on rude. I am totally put off now from any return visit.

Stopped for a breakfast which was very nicely prepared. Quick efficient service and good value prices. Staff are very pleasant and the place is lovely and clean. A great place for a brekkie and will be a regular stop as me and hubby really enjoyed it.

Popped in for a full English this morning and it was decent and well priced. Good selection of food and very busy but this didn’t impress the service. One negative was they said they couldn’t fill my water bottle which was strange.

We visited this cafe for breakfast based on lots of positive feedback on tripadvisor and with a view to returning the following day in a group of 10. However, the welcome we received and the attitude of the lady behind the counter left a lot to be desired. Two gentlmen came in after us also wanting breakfast and again, the attitude of the lady taking orders was unhelpful and bordering on rude.The food was good but not the best we’ve eaten in Scarborough. I liked the idea of building your own breakfast though. We found somewhere else for the next day for our group of 10 which was so much more friendly, chatty and accommodating.

The staff were so helpful & friendly. We have serious food allergies & vegan members in the family. They managed to accommodate all of us. Wow! We popped in for brunch late august and it was amazing! Owner was so friendly and attentive, the milkshakes were to die for and the breakfast! Had everything you could ask for could build your own! And the eggs were cooked great a perfectly runny egg! Definitely recommend x

Whilst on my way to the cricket match at Scarborough on the train I googled ‘ best place for breakfast in Scarborough’ and Sunnys Cafe came out on top.So, Google maps led me to the cafe….and I’m so glad it did.I was greeted as I entered the cafe and pleasantly told to peruse the menu and order at the counter. I opted for the small breakfast with poached eggs which came with toast( I swopped the beans for an extra egg), all washed down by fresh orange juice and a cup of tea.Everything was perfectly cooked, especially the poached eggs.I’m there next week and will definitely go to Sunnys Cafe for breakfast.Thank you to all at Sunnys

Was in Scarborough for a couple of days this week and went to Sunny for breakfast. No complaints at all, breakfast was brilliant and well with the visit. Although we where in early there was also a chap in having a full meal at breakfast time which looked lovely. We will defo return anytime we’re in Scarborough.

Called in for some breakfast while on holiday in Scarborough with my wife. Good service and great food at a reasonable price. I had a full English and my wife had an omelette. Both spot on. Will definitely call again next time we are in town.

sian is very competent, welcoming and professional. The food is great and what really impressed me this time was I could design my own breakfast, just how many cafes are prepared to go to that trouble for their customers. Sadly we only had breakfast there this time as last orders for meals was 2 30 pm. However I can speak from experience when I say that the steak pie is to die for as I had it last time I was in Scarborough.

I havent finished my coffee yet but after eating that delicious breakfast I decided I would leave a review. Highly recommended for an english breakfast, friendly staff with an hygienic environment. Thanks Sunnys!

Found this little cafe on the 2nd day of our trip to Scarbrough, what a little diamond. Cooked breakfasts were the best we have ever had. Very friendly staff, nothing is to much for them. The kids loved going there as they had small games on the tables to keep them occupied whilst waiting for our order. AN AMAZING PLACE.

A great cafe i have the chips or fries with gravy and my friend has the steak pie which can come as a dinner or with chips and peas. They several games and the tables and my dad likes the breakfasts too. The owner is very nice and so are the staff. They even make our own counters to play snakes and ladders

5/5 without any hesitation. Fantastic cafe, great prices, amazing food, really friendly and super clean. They have the formula for a perfect cafe. Wish I had found Sunny's at the start of my holiday. Looking forward to coming back soon.

This cafe is not in the busiest area of Scarborough but it is only a minute or two away from the main shopping street. We stumbled on it by accident and if you want great friendly service aligned with decent quality food at exceptional value then this place has to be one of the best in Scarborough and definitely one to look for if you are in the area. There were four adults and a 16 month old (we’d brought her food with us). We ordered a veggie breakfast, two sausage cobs/babs and a chicken and bacon sandwich along with three cokes and a cappuccino. Everything was lovely, served quickly and with a smile. They even sell homemade cakes and so we also took home three large ‘Millionaires shortbread’ home which had ‘gold bars’ on top which were gorgeous. As I say seek this place out if you want decent food at a decent price and served in a decent way.

We discovered Sunnys last week and dined twice first time i had the steak pie and my wife had the breakfast and we both swapped things onto each others plate.food was delicIous and next day we had the beef roast with extra chicken added again great tasty meat veg and cute yorkies served.If you want a breakfast you can mix and match items as you want.But the best sign of a good place to eat is all the tables full and people turned away due to lack of space ( normally 15 tables here but due to covid only 10 tables at present) but i am sure sometimes 15 is not enough as well.well worth a visit.

Me and my young children often go here for lunch, everyone is so friendly they cater so well for my children also. Always making sure they have something to play with or draw. The food is delicious and we are never waiting too long the plates are always finished thanks to the staff at sunnys

This was the first Cafe we found upon our arrival at lunchtime in Scarborough, having driven up from Hertfordshire. The staff were warm, friendly and very welcoming and it was reassuring to see that all Covid measures were in place. We were shown to a table that catered for the 6 of us. My grandchildren were given crayons and paper for colouring as well as snakes and ladders, such a lovely touch to keep children occupied.lunch was amazing, all cooked to order.I asked about the cakes, as an avid amateur baker I'm always keen to find out, the owner Sian bakes all the cakes herself. They were wonderful, especially the Bakewell Tart!We came back for a second time later on in the week and again, were shown the same level of friendliness and service that we had received on our first visit.

whilst the food is cheap it is of cheap quality it seemed like everything had been deep fried.The young girl serving was lovely but who i assumed was the owner had a really bad attitude that we both remarked on. She was tutting and rolling her eyes.would not visit again

I am a regular here And you get reasonably good food. Breakfast. Sometimes staff seem sarcastic. But upon my visit Thee other day I ordered just scrambled eggs. It was the far worst horrible I have ever tasted Just like slipsNever again Absolutely disgraceful

Came here because of reviews, worth the £2 parking, very clean , ideal for kids as cards and games on table to play, food very good , would recommend the beef baguette, cakes very tasty, definitely worth a visit 😃😃

This was my first visit and I was impressed by the cleanliness and the relaxed atmosphere. Daily newspapers were available and playing cards and Connect on the table. I had the full Breakfast which was well cooked and presented but let down by the watery mushrooms. Also, I am not keen on the full fat milk which came with the tea, but overall I enjoyed it and would definitely visit again for lunch, Staff were very efficient and pleasant and it is a family run business,

Can't praise this place enough the food is always served hot the staff are always friendly and the owners sean and sain also offer the opportunity of exchanging items on the breakfast menu for alternatives i. e. if you don't like mushrooms you can have extra beans or tomatoes would highly reccommend this cafe.

I arrived just after 2.30. Meals were no longer being served, but I had coffee and cake. I chose a huge piece of flap-Jack, excellent value at only £1.00. A piece half the size would have still been good value at the price! The cafe is bright and clean and well laid out, so although it is small it feels spacious. There are thoughtful touches such as cards and games, newspapers, and colouring for children.

Came here last year and enjoyed it so decided to go here again,lovely friendly staff and tasty food,had the large roast beef meal.was lovely,ann had the poached eggs on toast which she enjoyed,had two lattes they were very nice.eating here is very good as the prices are good ,lots of choices of food and drinks,lots of cakes and pies for desert.

Checked TripAdvisor for place to eat in Scarborough and this place came up with excellent reviews. We were not disappointed, had breakfast and it was really tasty and included mushrooms which are usually extra elsewhere. Would recommend and will visit again when back here.

After Googling after the best breakfast in Scarborough, we decided to go to Sunny's. Great choice indeed. Delicious food, good prices, super friendly staff and warm atmosphere. A really honest 10/10! Loved it!

We called in before going to the cricket. The service is friendly with the staff making you feel very welcome. Breakfast is typical cafe brekkie, but it was tasty, well cooked and good value for money.

First time in Sunnys cafe and I wasn’t disappointed. The place is spotless, very welcoming, the staff are lovely and the food is tasty and piping hot. You got plenty of food for the price, that’s always a plus for me! I like the fact you can play cards or connect 4 at the table while you wait for your food to be cooked. I’d definitely recommend trying sunnys, you’ll not be disappointed.

This was s lovely find. Gorgeous breakfast non greasy. Well cooked and good quality. Lots of choices too. Can pick a individual selection. Prices are very good too. The cafe is clean and the food is presented well. The staff are friendly and it has a warm cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended. Lots of little seats for children which I thought thouthful.

We were expecting just normal cafe fare, and the menu suggested the same. But we were more than pleasantly surprised. Service was good, food was very good and an adequate size for the money. Listening to conversationd between staff and regular elderly customers, I got the impression that the staff really do care about their customers. Well done!

Cafe near bus stops and big and small shops get a good appetite shopping then enjoy a good meal plenty of choice and price good. Lovley and clean staff friendly roast dinner and sweets to follow.enjoy

Visited after reading reviews on here. Shouldn’t have listened. Ordered a supreme breakfast and left half of it. Deep fried hash browns tasted of old oil, missing fried bread, tomatoes out of a can and hard eggs. Yuck!

My friend rang to say meet in town,where shall we go for lunch, she said sunny cafe where that.we arrived at Cafe tables lovely clean staff very good we open meun had roast beef dinner (small) and apple pie custard .excellent and took hubby last weekend and he had lge roast beef and he loved it. And been with my friend again brilliant cafe.

We stumbled by this little cafe by chance. Very friendly and welcoming staff... games on the table for children. Reasonable price and we were all full afterwards. Would definitely recommend again :)

Only found this place thanks to TripAdvisor. Extremely impressed with the cleanliness and quality of food and service. Excellent for families with children of all ages. A small establishment but so worthwhile a visit - booking useful to secure a table.

Had been to Scarborough Hospital visiting and looked on trip advisor for somewhere to go for lunch and decided to try Sunnys. The café is very clean and the staff are efficient, passionate about their jobs and friendly. We ordered home made steak pie and was extremely surprised at the large portion and the wonderful tender steak. On each table there is a pack of cards and a connect 4 game which we thoroughly enjoyed playing while we were waiting for our lunch. I would recommend this café to anyone.
