Sun Spot in Sedgemoor

First visit here, having lived in Brean for nearly 10 years. What a pleasant place, the food was well cooked, decent portions and very reasonable on price. The staff, especially the young waitress, were very friendly attentive and polite. Will definitely be back

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and a couple of good evening meals during our week stay in Brean. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, comfortable and clean.

Rocking atmosphere with live entertainment - lovely friendly people and an easily accessible close toilet! Favourite on the pub crawl yet! X

Simple request for fries instead of chips. Already provided to other people within the group. Cook out if kitchen with attitude. So we all left. Another 100 plus pound in lost takings. From previous regular customers

Very disappointed went for a game of bingo never again. takes about 2 hours to play six games.the tables were that dirty my bingo tickets were stuck to the table top .

Vegan breakfast for 2 £13 Very dissapointing. Half a tomato a tablespoon of mushrooms, the smallest hash brown I've ever seen and a tiniest pot of beans.all looked lost on the plate. Asked twice for no spread on our toast but still arrived with spread, so had to send back, waited so long my breakfast got cold, asked for more hot beans and were told we would have to pay more. After another long wait chef came out with the beans and happily said he wouldn't charge for them !!!. But on a good note it was very clean and young girl serving was lovely. But had to go and get another breakfast as we were both starving. I hope this improves as I would really like to support them

Just had a lovely Sunday roast at the sunspot. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Dog friendly and a little afternoon entertainment... What more could you want?! Thank you sunspot 👍🙂

Has to be the place to be in brean now that the seagull has changed hands. The best entertainment. Top quality food (kids love those chip shop battered nuggets) and fair priced boozed. The friendliest bar staff and door staff in the area. A true family run business that we will return to week after week. The only thing that could possibly improve the venue is bring the wifi back.. however ever without it we will continue to return every weekend.

I went here for a long weekend where my brother has a static caravan on one of the sites I found all staff realy friendly excellent, service food and entertainment enjoyed my time here

We visited Saturday night gates shut with bouncer behind we and another couple asked if closed bouncer just said no and opened gate with sour look on his face. We were a large group and signed up for karaoke which was good and spent over £300 at the bar but then one of staff a short brown haired man told my brother in law he couldn’t have our toy yorkie on his lap as people take photos and give bad reviews. We accepted and put dog on floor but he kept coming back and staring at us. We were back in there Monday night and as we were large group and noisy and bingo was on (we didn’t want to disturb the game)we moved two tables together outside. The surly bouncer appeared and moved the tables back and said no table moving. We said we wanted to all sit together and would return tables when we finished. He was really dismissive and said no management decide where tables go not you and it’s policy tables are where they put them which would have been fine except for his awful attitude and the fact we were there night before and same security saw us move tables and chairs and said nothing and his attitude was really bad and frankly rude. We won’t be returning there was 14 of us and they’ve lost out on our custom tonight and from now on.

Awful place. Doorman very rude and pushed my partner to the ground for absolutely no reason. Then told him he’s barred without any explanation of what he was supposed to of done. I’d say avoid this place its vile

Called in at 10.45, no sign of life, despite Web-site saying it's open. Wasted journey. Not a good start.

Year after year the owners keep improving this place . The staff , including the 2 door men are so friendly , very reasonable prices here , good wifi and a lovely seating area outside , recommended

Stumbled across this little gem with our child free hour. Lovely atmosphere and really good prices for drinks and snacks. Returned with all the family the next day for Sunday roast and again wasn’t disappointed. Fit all 10 of us in (we were waiting at the door for opening not to miss out) within the hour it was full. Amazing home cooked roast with not much left to waste. 100% be returning on our next visit. Dog friendly inside was very much appreciated. Thanku to all involved here

We stopped here for a drink. A family of 4 plus a dog. They have 3 ride on for kids and a mini arcade inside. Had a couple of ciders were reasonably priced. Had a look at food but decided to go somewhere closer to where we were staying. Wish we ate here now. Only issues we had were one of the outside benches was broken and a couple of kids were left unsupervised on the little rides kept climbing all over them while were on. And obviously given enough money to spend 10 minutes there. Which ment other kids were waiting to use one ride when free.

Visited this pub a couple of times whilst staying in Brean, have to say what a lovely friendly pub, the staff are very welcoming, its child friendly and dog friendly, the food is very nice and its not overpriced on drinks, would definitely recommend this...

We enj joy the atmosphere so much we entered the premises at 12midday and enjoyed the afternoon entertainment so much didn't leave until 8pm. We shall return

We arrived waited ten mins to check in. Eventually someone shouted to get ourselves a table. We did this and then waited and waited ........... eventually we left with no drink or food.

We had drinks last night and the music was great and prices very reasonable for a resort area. Staff are fantastic and friendly. We came back today for food after seeing the meals being brought out last night andcwe were not disappointed. Excellent value for money and would highly recommend it

For years we have eaten here every day while on holiday this time terrible, food awful and some inedible . Service was terrible.Supposedly covid safe yet they bring your straws in there hands and put them on the table. In a second visit after giving benefit of the doubt. We were constantly overlooked for ordering in favour of those outside and in front of the bar. Table wasn't cleared.When order was taken it was then received but we had no cutlery or condiments. After asking for cutlery they came back with 2 sets there were 3 of us asked for a third and some condiments and they came back with everything but the vinegar and 2 meals were with chips !!! Chased another server to finally get.some and we were bought a packet each. Noisy and terrible. Oddly the food truck by the arcade had the traditional salt and pepper pots out for all to use.Won't be going back unless there is a drastic change to both service and food.

We went here last night and had a lovely evening with friends. The service was good and the entertainment and atmosphere were lovely. We left at about 10o clock and started walking back to Northam farm. About 20mins later realised I hadn’t got my bag. I ran all the way back and the sunspot was closing. I asked the security guy if it had been handed in and luckily enough it had. The guy told me that I could stop worrying now. Thank you to the kind person that handed it in and the staff that looked after it for me.

Went to the bar most nights whilst on holiday here great atmosphere and staff are very friendly and very attentive even thou very busy they did not keep u waiting long drinks very good prices food not the best but great place to visit

Have always come to this little paradise have always praised it and the staff working there have been tremendous.... on this visit on our little break away we visited the sunspot 3 times on each occasion the staff were just stood there “stroking each other’s hair on one time “ tables dirty , we waited 35 minutes to be served today and people coming after us were served before us , my husband complained to a lady and yet we still were not served so walked out .... I myself run a business and would be appalled if when I was away my staff ran it in this fashion....

We came here for a quick tea while staying down the road. The staff were lovely and attentive. There was a great selection of “pub grub” I had lasagne and it was really tasty. I loved the style of the place - it was like being on holiday! Would recommend!

We ate here at the beginning of our week in the area. Good value and free WiFi. We went back the following Sunday for lunch as the board outside stated that the were open for lunch. However at 12.45the gates were locked and the place was in darkness.

We arrived to this bar at some time after 1pm on a hot day. We were hoping to sit outside but due to there being no space, we took a table for two inside. We followed all the Covid precautions explained to us. Ordered drinks and food, no bother. Maybe 15-20 minutes after we’d been there, a group of four adults arrived who, despite a whole bar full of empty tables, chose to sit right next to us on a table for four that was at most 1 metre away from us. We didn’t want to sit that close to another group and so we made a sudden decision to move outside as a table had come available. As we began to move (quite a performance with two dogs, drinks etc) a staff member was going outside with what looked like our order. My friend intercepted her, said we were moving outside because the other group was seated too close to us re. Covid regulations and took the food from her to the outside table.We got everything outside and sat down, then wondered where the rest of our food was. My friend was then told she’d been very rude to a member of staff by some random man who appeared, it seemed, simply to be aggressive. He then told her he’d rather she left! She restated that we were missing some chips and came back outside.We waited again and finally called one of the staff over to ask what was happening. She was immediately aggressive, unwilling to listen to the reason why we’d moved properly and started saying how upset the member of staff was by my friend’s behaviour and rudeness, ‘snatching’ the meals out of her hand and breaking Covid regulations. We tried to quietly explain but she refused to listen properly that the table indoors was too close to the other group. She said they checked about the chips and (though another staff member had confirmed they were ordered) they hadn’t been ordered and so not paid for. Obviously it wasn’t a priority for them to communicate at all. The whole thing ended up with the woman, who said she was the manager (though she clearly hasn’t done any customer relations courses) leaning right over our table to shout in our faces and then bellowing across the garden at us like some sort of drunken lout.Reading through other reviews on here, this is clearly not the first time this has happened to someone. We entirely understand that Covid has put lots of pressure on people in this trade and that there no doubt that been plenty of people who have been rude and nasty. We weren’t trying to be either, we just wanted to have drinks and food at a safe distance from others as both of our jobs regularly lead us into contact with the elderly and vulnerable.

We ate in here a couple of times during our holiday in brean. Lovely food great staff very welcoming. We had a Sunday roast which was lovely.

We arrive to pontins on Friday 21St. The best place to go by far is sun spot the security in particular was fabulous beyond words... Not to mention the great value prices and brilliant entertainment if you are lucky enough to get a seat inside. Sadly we didn't try this Place on our last visit but definitely a place to go. We would come here again without a shadow of a doubt. G and kav (security) and made us feel more than welcome and looked after our every need. Thank-you.. Would recommend to everyone.

Fantastic customer experience, brilliant, great, fabulous are just some of the words to discredit the sun spot!!! Matt ana Alison have managed to capture the true spirit of Brean at their Sun Spot... great food, fantastic atmosphere and a really good feeling supplies by the team, great selection of drinks a a really genuine spirit to entertain the whole family. I popped in around 3 o'clock and asked if we needed to book a table as we wanted to eat around 5ish. I was told by the doorman no booking was needed, but he advised we came early as they were going to be busy.We went back at 4.45 and the restaurant was quiet. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who i believe was the owner and took us to our table. She explained that food was served from 5.30 but said if i asked at the bar for the menu we could put the order in now and it would be cooked at 5.30. We were happy with this.I went to the bar and was behind another customer and the girl at the bar looked at me and said 'you can't order that till 5.30', but in a really arsey tone and looked at me like I was something she had stepped in. I explained the lady (owner?) Had said we could and she replied 'I highly doubt she did'. I said well I'm not lying, there she is! go ask her. She replied 'I will in a minute' but carried on pulling pints.I left the bar and was heading back to my family when some rude little old chap came bombing over saying 'no food orders till 5.30' to which I said yes ive just been told by the bar staff, and explained to him that the owner had said it was fine and that was why I had tried to place the order.He just kept going on,a really annoying little fella he is. I was only heading back to my table to explain we couldn't order yet but he was following me repeating about 5.30, then saying maybe 5.20. He was bugging me, and between him and the bar girl I didn't feel like spending my money there so told my family we were leaving. With that the 'Bouncer'appears,who was actually very pleasant. I quietly and calmly explained to him what had happened and he just said no mate its always 5.30, which was fine, but then the little bloke piped up with 'we run this place' not her and pointed to himself and the bouncer. He couldn't run a bath.By now the wife could see i was starting to see the red mist, and we left before i rammed his 5.30 menu where the sun dont shine. He really needs to kerb his attitude.I got the feeling the little old fella may be the owner too? Possibly the ladies hubby?? I don't know, but I do know that we will never set foot in there ever again, and he really needs to brush up on his people skills.I feel sorry for the lady if she is the owner as she was really pleasant.We went to the place over the road and had a lovely meal in the beer garden and the staff were very friendly so highly recommend. I would of waited till 5.30, but the annoying dude tries to give it large. I'm short myself, still talker than this dude and I now understand 'short man syndrome lol'

At first we were happy - good decor and a one way system. Then I ordered our food... 45-50 mins later after watching food come in and out I had to ask a waitress where our food was. Less than a minute later we were served which had us wondering how long it was waiting there for. If when we were given the menu it was explained that the place was busy and/or the kitchen was struggling then i would of had a lot more patience, but watching others who came in after us being served food first is insulting after waiting long. We had no apologies, no acknowledgments of fault, not even an offer of a free drink... I work in a restaurant and I know the basic manners that are supposed to be adhered to - it's custom to offer at least one of the above, unfortunately none of these were offered to us. The food was average at best, and we had to eat as fast as possible so that we could get back to the car before our parking ran out. We had been stressed after taking our tent down in the rain and decided to treat ourselves to a filling breakfast before a long journey. This was the biggest let down we experienced in Brean.

Visited here on our first day in Brean Monday 20th July, felt so comfortable as they are hot on the rules for Social distancing and ensuring everyone is seated. We visited every night of our stay and i cant recommend this place enough, the food we had 2 nights both times fab, staff all pleasent and friendly they cant do enough for you. Will be back next year and cant wait

We have been here last year and two weeks ago and no complaints. Today we arrived and were about to order the special which we always have. The chap behind the bar however told us that we could not take anything off the order although we wanted one without beans and one without bacon! But no if you don’t want that order something else! So we went back for a second attempt This time the older blond lady behind the bar when my partner ordered he asked for no beans she said you have to have them. I asked what if someone had an allergy to something on that meal and wanted it removing. I was told rudely order something else I explained we were here two weeks ago ( this was when they were making pancakes for children and a lady asked for cheese on toast, neither of which are even on the menu) and it wasn’t an issue. Her lovely reply was ‘ we were being nice then’ I said oh so your not nowShe said we could order anything else on the menu but would them have to add a drink and toast if we wanted it. Needless to say with the way she spoke to us, the attitude and her explanation that the chefs are on a production line so they don’t know how to not put something on a plate we won’t be returning here again. They lost out there is a lovely cafe called BOS up the road who serve a great breakfast.

One of the women bar staff was very rude on a number of occasions breakfast was mediocre, apart from this one rude blonde women the younger staff were very accomadating and polite and helpful .

Excellently priced large breakfast. Full English Breakfast with a mug of tea or coffee. Served fresh and hot .

Great little find, one place never visited before. Dog friendly, reasonably price. Shall return next year.

We've visited this place many times whilst staying in Brean. Always busy they have nice food, good choice of drinks for a reasonable price and nice atmosphere.

While planning our holiday in Brean my son asked if there was a sports bar to watch the Liverpool v Arsenal march on the Saturday, with a bit of research I found this friendly pub and we enjoyed a drink and watched the match, chatted to some very friendly people from Wales at the next table. It was very busy due the warm weather but the wait at the bar for drinks was reasonable and the service was good. There were plenty of staff on duty as we watched meals being served and tables being cleared with promptness, the football was shown on two screens in the bar and at the back there was a band playing to entertain. Vibrant and busy pub very well worth another visit.

Went a few times as we was based at pontins, nice pint and nice to sit in the sun and chill out. Even had sky sports, wouldn't be out of place if it was abroad.

We went to the Sun Spot this morning 6 breakfasts with drink £27! Freshly cooked, friendly staff and fast service, highly recommend 😁

Had breakfast here this morning food was ok but pretty pricey asked for a coffee to be told they had run out and therefore had to wait for a member of staff to go the shop to buy more

Summary - Average on all aspects.Place - lovely place, outdoors, indoors, conservatory, generally something for everyone.Clean - generally clean, some sticky tables, dirty cutlery (searches for the clean set) and odd rubbish.Price - similar to elsewhere and what you expect to pay for food type.Food - tinned tomatoes, beans cheaper variety, other ingredients were budget. Fried bread was nice though!No card machine, cash only.

We went and tried the Sun Spot for breakfast,having been there before for drinks in the past.Got served straight away at the bar ,but then had to wait 15 mins for them to boil a kettle and make 2 cups of tea.A further wait of over half an hour for the breakfast to come.Bacon was only just cooked (dare not have sent it back).Wont be going back for breakfast again.Much better and 5 x quicker at the cafe 100 yards up the road near the bakery.

Great food, great prices, fantastic staff. Very welcoming. Good music, pool table, outdoor seating!! Would definitely return!! Keep it up your rocking it!! X

We have eaten in numerous places locally but this was the best by far! Reasonable prices and great homemade food. The kids demolished their curry(amazing) and NY Chicken, and we demolished our lasagne and pizza. Unfortunately they tasted so good they didn’t last long enough for photos. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great music and lively enough in the evening. Can not recommend this place enough, really puzzled at the poor reviews others have given it. Give the Sun Spot a go and you won’t regret it

Reading previous reviews I can’t agree. Visited with family and friends. Looked nice. Went to order food, easy enough then moved down bar to get drinks, waited and waited as only one young bar girl on. Then someone who had been sat at the bar came and started serving!! Cheap drinks. Food took nearly 45 mins to come and then our friends order was totally missed so they ended up with a refund and no food.! Shocking service really. Cash only too. Shame as if they invested time into serving their customers well it would be a cracking place

Of all the venues IN brean this is the Best, the pub itself has had a great update including an extention, the food and beer is really good but what makes it great are the amazing staff who treat you like a local. Will always go back everytime I'm here

Have been here twice for breakfast and have been fed well both times. The special breakfast is only a fiver and comes with good size portions. The food is cooked perfectly and served by friendly staff - happy to accommodate. Had the extra special breakfast on my second visit which doubles the portion on everything and is only £1.50 more - such good value for money but not good for the waistband., Loved our time eating here and would recommend to anyone!!! Only gripe would be - you have to have cash as cards are not accepted and most cash machines charge for withdrawals in area.

Great little place serving roasts and breakfasts. The breakfasts are very well portioned everything you expect and cooked lovely. Ladies who served us were lovely too. Perfect for dining outside and drink in the sunshine.

Well we went twice in 2 days and that says it all. Great cheese and mushroom omelettes first day and a mid week Beef roast on Wednesday hmmmm. Unfortunately the gravy was put on cold but we forgave them as the Beef was lovely. £22 for 2 roasts and 4 drinks ain't bad and good value.

First time today! Ordered 2 breakfast specials,all cooked to perfection, lovely bacon and sausage.Five pounds with a mug of coffee! We will be back !

Drinks and lunch served outside on the grass in the sunshine. Busy with a friendly atmosphere and very good service. A great place to visit after a walk on the beach. Live music inside.

Reasonable prices and food good. Recommend. We met up with friends there who have a caravan nearby. It's ideal with children and there is also entertainment in the evenings pretty regularly.

In a nice pretty spot and has a open conservatory area where you can take the dog. Parking is difficult though.

We stopped here on our way home from the fair it was late like 8pm and wasn't really expecting them to be serving food at this time but tried our luck as we were all starving, they were very welcoming and the place was full they got us a table and got our orders in quick food came out pretty quick too and was spot on

We had been to Sun Spot before a couple of years ago, but hadn't been on a Sunday before. I ordered the roast beef dinner and my husband ordered a cheese salad. Well, the reviews re the roast beef Sunday lunch were correct - well cooked, good portion and none left at the end. The cheese salad - if only I could have eaten two meals! There was lots of cheese and a great assortment of salad vegetables, including strawberries, oranges, grapes, pickle and coleslaw - I was surprised he managed to eat it all, but he did!! We will definitely be back.

Come here every Saturday and Sunday for food and drinks and everything is always perfect. Fosters is the best pint in Brean and their food is brilliant too. Defo worth a visit.

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was superb, 16 of us turned up and got served quickly the food was A* and the beer and service also excellent, my new Sunday regular for sure

very nice food, lovely little place with very friendly owners, they can't do enough for you! I had the garlic chicken breast with rice and it was very nice. I have been coming to Brean for over 20 years a few times a year and i can honestly say they have done wonders buying that place! brilliant for Brean and they are constantly trying to improve the place even though it looks lovely!

We have visited the Sun Spot several times during our three visits to Brean this year.Every time we have dined there the food and service has been second to none the staff are pleasant and welcoming.On our final visit in October it was our silver Wedding Anniversary and the hosts presented us with a lovely bottle of proseco to celebrate.We will definitely be visiting again on our visits to Brean in 2018

Came here again to eat as food was beautiful last time. As always food was of a fantastic quality. Wait may be a little longer than other places but it is all home cooked so worth the wait. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Visited the Sun spot this evening and had a fabulous meal, fantastic value for money in a family friendly environment.

So I decided to take the wife for breakfast whilst on our stay in brean what can I say the breakfast was epic I had a few extras on mine and didn't have mushroom or tomatoes as I don't like them but even still 2 large breakfast 1 with extras and a cup of tea and pint of coke all for 20 quid what a not to love the lovely young girl behind bar was very polite and welcoming and we was allowed to sit under the covered patio with the dog will deffenitly be returning before we go home and also when we come back on next holiday thanks guys keep up the good work !!!
